Flash doesn't work in Firefox 13

Installed Firefox 13 yesterday. Now flash doesn't work. Have done all the supposed fixes to no avail. Have uninstalled and reinstalled flash. I'm at my wits end with this issue. I'm a web designer who uses flash in a number of my sites. VERY IRRITATING when my sites don't display properly. Anyone have a solution other than the pat Mozilla "fixes"?

I received a PM from '''CheckMate''' about this thread. Since this is something that I think should be discussed openly I'll reply here.
The ActiveX plugin (npmozax.dll) issue is now fixed via the Mozilla blocklist, which automatically disables it. For some background on the ActiveX plugin issue, see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/contributors/708425 Blocking the old ActiveX plugin] in the contributor's forum thread.
The Flash 11.3 Firefox protected mode problem is a separate issue and one related bug is [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=747683 747683] So, if you did have the ActiveX plugin installed and it is now disabled, AND you have Flash 11.3 installed, then the issue is no longer the ActiveX plugin.
If the problem is Flash 11.3 protected mode (or other issues with Flash 11.3) it's not a good idea to suggest downgrading to 11.2.202.235. The reason why uninstalling Flash and going to a page that requires Flash installs an older version is because the Plugin Finder Service hasn't been updated yet! This is from http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Installing_Flash_on_Windows <br>
'''Quote:'''<br>
''If the Flash plugin is not installed and you visit a page that has Flash content that requires the plugin, the Plug-in Finder Service can download and install Flash for you (see [https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+the+Flash+plugin Installing the Flash plugin (Firefox Support)] for more information). If you want to try this method and Flash is already installed, you can [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Uninstalling_Flash uninstall Flash] and then visit [http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ Adobe's Flash test page] to launch the Plugin Finder Service ; however, it may offer you an outdated version.''
The alternative (disabling Flash 11.3 protected mode by editing an obscure file) is not good either. I don't know what to suggest in those cases. I think it would be a good idea if you could bring this up in the SUMO Community Discussions forum. There's already a topic started on Flash 11.3 issues, here:
*https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/contributors/708430 Flash 11.3 issues (was: flash 11.3 released)
Here is your original message, for reference:
''Hi, Alice- You locked the thread on the Adobe Flash Plugin update 11.300.257 not working question but you really shouldn't have for the following reasons. First, although I too found today that the Active X has been blocked as of June 7, the problem persists and the instruction is to contact the manufacturer. How about contacting Adobe and straightening this out on the Developer level instead of closing the thread because there's another temporary but much simpler solution that I found. Second, the instructions on how to disable Protected Mode are nuts. I'm pretty advanced, but my common sensed tells me this is too complicated to bother with and shouldn't be necessary and you yourself say this isn't a permanent fix. Third, I found a much simpler solution, at least until this bug is fixed. Completely uninstall the Plugin from the Add and Remove Programs list. Then, when you try to access any video on YouTube which uses the Plugin, Firefox reports that it needs an additional Plugin to play the video (look specifically for the FF blue plugin icon). When you click on it, it automatically downloads the PREVIOUS VERSION, 11.2.202.235 which works perfectly. But if you click on the warning below it that Adobe Flash is needed, the buggy 11.3.300.257 version will be installed again! This has to be fixed by the Developers. Until it is, the fix is simply to roll back the faulty update, which could have also been done with a restore point but I wanted to find the cause. FF apparently knows automatically that this plugin is faulty and installs the previous version, but the other instruction is contradictory and installs the 11.3.300.257 Nice!?!? ''

  • Flash doesn't work in Firefox?

    I installed the Flash Player 11.3 update, and now everything that uses flash shows up as a black screen. It works in chrome and safari however. I tried some article and discussion solutions, but none of them worked. & I don't have a realplayer plugin to disable. Could someone help me fix this?

    Sorry none of those worked. As I said, I can use flash perfectly fine in other browsers. Just not FF.

  • Why the hell ADOBE FLASH PLAYER 10.2 DOESN'T WORK on Firefox 4???

    Adobe Flash Player 10.2 doesn't work on firefox 4. I downloaded 10 times, I installed and again, "Please install ADOBE FLASH PLAYER"

    You appear to have it installed twice. Your system specs show you have both Shockwave Flash 9.0 r28 and Shockwave Flash 10.2 r159 installed.
    What I suggest you do here is to uninstall Flash using Adobe's uninstaller which you can download from here: [http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe uninstall_flash_player.exe]
    Close Firefox before you run the uninstaller, then reboot.
    Then manually install Flash using this file: [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe install_flash_player.exe] Close Firefox again before you run it.

  • Adobe Flash 11.4 doesn't work on firefox

    I am currently using windows 7 and firefox 14.0.1
    After updating to the latest version of adobe, which is 11.4, anything that requires flash doesn' work. I have tried this on internet explorer 9 and google chrome, which worked perfectly. So, the issue here is that adobe flash 11.4 doesn't work on firefox; also, the browser worked fine before the update. Any help would be appreciated.

    Well, for example: youtube.com, it would say an error occurred; otherwise, those that requires flash would display a white box instead.
    For C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash:
    These are the files within it:
    -FlashInstall- text doc.
    -FlashUtil64_11_4_402_265_Plugin app
    -NPSWF64_11_4_402_265.dll app extension
    C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash:
    -FlashPlayerTrust folder
    -FlashInstall text doc.
    -flashplayer.xpt file
    -FlashPlayerPlugin_11_4_402_265 app
    -FlashPlayerUpdaterService app
    -FlashUtil32_11_4_402_265_Plugin
    -mms.cfg
    -NPSWF32_11_4_402_265.dll
    Thanks for your reply to my issue.

    Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the [http://mozilla.com/plugincheck Mozilla Plugin Check site].
    Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions.
    If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow ''Update'' button or a red ''Update now'' button, please update these immediately.
    To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

  • I have updated to Mac X 10.6.8, now You Tube doesn't work in Firefox; why not?

    Firefox told me for safety reasons I needed to update the OS on my Mac which I did.
    Now You Tube doesn't work in Firefox (though it does in other browsers)
    On line I have have found an add-on which claims to fix the problem, but it comes with warnings that there might be safety issues. (Author not verified)
    My OS system is up to date, as is Firefox.
    Shall I just use another browser?

    Try to update the Flash player.

  • Flash doesn't work suddenly [SOLVED]

    Today flash doesn't work anymore, I do not remember any modifications. In Firefox the browser segfaults after a few seconds of flash content. In Opera the flash area is replaced with weird graphics http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/5845 … 0x800s.png like this. I reinstalled flash10, no help. I installed flash9, no help, same problems.
    Also, gnash plugin works for most flash content, but not for youtube though (on youtube I'll just get a blueish empty screen). Viewing flash videos is a must for my PC use..
    EDIT:
    I discovered that my sound didn't work, and I remember removing dbus from my modules since somebody says HAL starts it.
    I solved it by adding dbus after hal in modules. I know that people say you shouldn't do that, and it creates this error text at bootup, but that did fix my sound, and my flash issues. Weird.

    that didnt do the trick either.
    I decided to reinstall flashplugin, and then i noticed a warning that said "warning: directory permissions differ on usr/lib/mozilla. filesystem: 700 package: 755."
    should i just try to chmod /usr/lib/mozilla, and then reinstall Flash?
    EDIT: Yep, i just ran sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/mozilla, and reinstalled flash. Works well

  • My Flash doesn't work on IE 8

    I am a webmaster with an existing flash on
    http://www.patriciawells.com
    No changes to the flash in about a year. Works great on IE 7,
    Firefox, Netscape, Opera, etc....
    Downloaded IE 8 Beta 2 this morning and the flash doesn't

    works....
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Well, all your object embed tags are correct so it's
    obviously the Beta problem.
    Nothing can do about it.

  • GetVariable doesn't work in Firefox/Opera

    Hi,
    I'm trying to get flash object variable via Javascript. But
    the code doesn't work for Firefox/Opera but is working well for IE.
    Here is an example of JS that I have used:
    var movie = window.document.flashMovie;
    movie.GetVariable("/obj:variable");
    or
    movie.GetVariable("_root.obj.variable");
    or
    movie.GetVariable("obj.variable");
    None of them is working.
    Thanks for any help.
    Michal

    Thanks, but this isn't an issue.
    The window.document.flashMovie will return the correct flash
    object/embed flash movie.
    The issue is that the GetVariable method wont return the
    object variable. When you try to get an simple variable that is in
    the _root timeline, it will return the value. Example:
    movie.GetVariable(_url) will return the url of the flash
    movie without any problem.
    But when you create an ActionScript class with
    userName property and then you will create the instance of
    it in the _root, you should be able to get it's value. Example:
    Flash:
    var obj = new SomeClass();
    obj.userName = "peter";
    JavaScript:
    movie.GetVariable("/obj:userName");
    or
    movie.GetVariable("obj.userName");
    This will return
    Peter for IE and null for Forefox/Opera.
    The same when you use the document.embeds[..].

  • Flash no longer working on Firefox after update

    Moments ago I installed the Flash update after it came up on my screen asking to update, after doing so Flash is no longer working on Firefox, it works fine on other browsers. I cant view videos, look at flash objects etc. It was working perfectly fine before up untill the update. Anybody know how to resolve or fix this issue?

    Dear Chris:
    Yes, turning off Protected Mode indeed solves the problem!
    Specifically, we today (June 9, 2012) installed the new Adobe Flash v. 11.3.300.257 on several Windows 7 PC's, all running Firefox v. 14 (Beta), and none of the Firefox installations would confirm that the installation was performed successfully.  For example, the Adobe Flast test/about site, https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about, would not work.  And, likewise, YouTube videos and other Flash-encoded videos did not work either.
    So, we tried your suggestion to disable the new Protected Mode, and it worked.  That is, every single machine on which Flash did not work in Firefox now functions perfectly.  So this conclusively demonstrates that there indeed is some kind of bug in the implementation of Protected Mode.
    Can you please let me and the other Adobe users know when this is fixed.  Thanks.
    Also, could you likewise let us know the risks of turning of Protected Mode (although we really don't have any choice, as Flash will not work on Firefox with PM turned on).
    Thank you.  Much appreciated.
    Kind regards,

  • Middle mouse button doesn't work in Firefox

    On my Lenovo Thinkpad the middle mouse button, that scrolls a web page up and down, doesn't work in Firefox only. In all other programs (including IE) the scroll function of the trackpoint middle button works fine, but in Firefox not at all. One solution described at Firefox is to edit a pref for a "ui.trackpoint_hackenabled" parameter, and I did change that value to 1, and restarted Firefox, but NO luck.
    I'm using 4.0.1.

    Nobody got any insights?
