Flash drive, Error code 0

Using my iMac, I exported a project from Final Cut Express using QT conversion to my desktop. It's 40:29 and 8.57 GB so I want to get it to my Mac Pro and use Compressor to make the file smaller.
I just inserted my new 32 GB SanDisk Cruzer flash drive into my iMac. It was recognized with no problem. But when I drag the QT file to the flash drive I get a window with this message:
"Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occured. (Error code 0)" I also get the QT logo with an exclamation point inside a yellow triangle.

Well, I just found the answer to my question which I will post here so others will not waste their money if you plan to buy a flash drive with the idea of conveniently transferring large files. This is from the SanDisk site:
Transferring a 4GB or larger file to a USB flash drive
Why can't I transfer a 4GB or larger file to my USB flash drive?
This is due to FAT32 limitation. Files larger than 4GB cannot be stored on FAT32 volume. Formatting the flash drive as NTFS will resolve this issue.
WARNING:
- Remember to backup your data. Formatting will delete all the data in your device.
- Formatting the device as NTFS will make it unable to be written to on a MAC computer. Most MAC computers can read NTFS, but not write.
- NTFS is a journaled filesystem, this creates more read/write activities. Therefore, it will decrease life expectancy of your device.
- Once the device is formatted as NTFS, you MUST use "Safely Remove Hardware".

I tried everything including deleting registry entries, reinstalling multiple times, use the log administrators command in cmd, i don't have a pass on my phone, nothing worked so far. Any help would be apreciated.

Yes I did..  Everything is ready.  Just when I plug the cable into the phone and the computer nothing will happen..  When I plug it into our "business" laptop immediately it will show that it is connected...  With this laptop I am using now, nothing happens..

    Hi Nathanbeyondme!
I have an article that can help you with that question:
OS X Mountain Lion: Store your content in iCloud
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11421
    Safari bookmarks and tabs
iCloud keeps your bookmarks and Reading List the same in Safari on your Mac, iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. On your Mac, Safari also uses iCloud to let you open tabs that are open on your other devices. You set up the Safari service in iCloud preferences.
If you are having issues with syncing these bookmarks, you will want to reference the following article:

  • TS3430 Apple usb driver error code 19 - How do I rectify?

My iPhone 5 does not connect with my laptop; it was working fine. I have a usb driver error code 19. how do I fix this?

Well, Apple's Support site states that "error 19" refers to:
    19
    dsNoPk2
package 2 not present [Disk Initialization]
So since the hard drive is unable to initialize, the implication is that the hard drive has failed, and your computer's symptoms tend to confirm this.  I'm afraid its time to take the computer in for diagnosis and repair at this point.

  • Cannot delete file from external hard drive (error code 36) in Finder, but Terminal is ok

I have a relatively new Macbook Pro Retina 15" and have a Western Digital 1 TB Passport.  I've been using the passport for about a year now without any problems on older Macbooks in my house.  I used to be able to read and write to this drive no problem.  I am using the Paragon NTFS for Mac software in order to read and write to the NTFS drive.  When I navigate through the drive in Finder, if I try to create a new folder, I do not have a problem.  If I try to delete that folder I just created, I get this error:
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “untitled folder” can’t be read or written.
    (Error code -36)
The folder has nothing in it whatsoever.  I just created it.  But if I go to Terminal and I run
    rm -rf "untitled folder"
This works fine.  Why is Terminal acting different than Finder?  This does not happen on my other Macbooks.  Thanks in advance.

Thanx for such qucik reply!!! The pages were great, it had an answer for my problem, but unfortunately it also involved me dealing with it only on the MacIntosh HD itself, not on mounted external drive I suppose... So it didn't work they say that there is an icon in the left corner indicating locked folder - I don't see any icon on it. It says you can untick the box to unlock the folder - there is no tick to be unticked. Finally, they say that if I don't have permition or rights I cannot delete it. But how do i change permittion which already says that i can read and write in it? So everything appears to be normal only I cannot delete it. there is not even any warnig telling me I don't have enough rights, it just requires the password and after me typing it in it makes the sound of scraping paper but does nothing more. I aslo had some problems with emptying Trash after being seemingly succesful with one file and had got so far to have them appear in the Trash (no clue how this one actully got there though..) I followd the advice and emptied the Trash with Terminal. The Folder is still there but it shows 0 Kb... So far so good BUT: It is still on the external drive, so I obviously only managed to copy it into the Trash!!! Phew, innit a bit too tight to poor owners, this macbook?? I want my rights back!

  • External Hard Drive error code -50

After I boot my iMac, my USB external drive mounts and functions as normal. After the computer has been left alone for a period of time (most notably, overnight) the drive still appears mounted on the desktop, I can read it, but attempting to write to it (or simply trying to create a new folder) reports back:
"The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -50)."
Logging out of the user does not fix it. I have to restart the computer to get the ability to write to the drive. Any ideas?

My computer never sleeps, just powers the screen down. I can't eject the drive because it claims it is in use. I can't repair permissions (the options to verify or repair are both greyed out, and the information screen in Disk Utility states "Can Repair Permissions: No").
I have multiple drives in an external enclosure connected by USB (it is a Century EX35SW8_SB8-E). Oddly, I noticed that only one drive had the "Owners Enabled" set to "Yes", so I changed the permissions on the other drives to match, but that did not change anything.

  • Why can't I copy files from my external hard drive - error code -50.

I sm trying to back up an external hard drive to a network drive. Some files copy but not all;.  SOmetimes a folder seems to have copied but then I see that most of the files inside have not.  And sometimes I just get 'An unexpected error has occurred'.  Error code - 50.
I need to have a back up copy of the files on this hard drive.  How can I stop this happening and copy files properly and securely?
The external hard drive is a LaCie bought from Apple, share formatted FAT32.
The network drive is a WD MyBookLIve Duo which WD tell me should work equally well with any operating system.
Please advise.  I need to archive a security copy of this data urgently

  • External Hard Drive(ERROR CODE 0) .DMG Back Up Issues. How to get more than 4gbs in .DMG back ups.

I am currently using a my external hard drive for my late 2009 Mac Mini, my brothers MBP and my sisters HP laptop. I have a Western Digital My Passport 1T external Hard Drive to back up all are information. I formatted it to work on mac and pc and its on the "MS-DOS(FAT) setup at the momment. Im trying to back up DMG files from my HDD hard drive in my computer to the External Hard Drive to pass them onto my brother. I understand the whole part of me getting the "Error Code 0" where i can only put 4gbs of storage for that. I wanted to no is there a way for me to format my external hard drive for it to work on a Mac and a PC but for me to also transfer my .dmg files with more than 4gbs of that storage to my external hard drive?
p.s Im running on OSX 10.6.8 and the DMG files are alittle more than 4 gbs. From 5-10gbs. Thank you for all the replys. It helps me out and others in the Apple community out!

Hi, Steve. Your proposed procedure is just fine until you get to this point:
...reformat the WD to be Mac friendly *and reformat in FAT32* ...
Reformatting the newly-reformatted Mac-friendly drive as FAT32 will, as you say, simply put you back where you were before, but with your data on a different drive. Omit that step, and you'll have a Mac-friendly drive that you can copy your data back onto.
If you normally work with files exceeding 4GB in size, you won't want any hard drive in FAT32 format. If for some reason you'd like all your external drives in NTFS format, download and install the NTFS-3G driver, which will enable your Mac to read *and write to* that disk format.

  • Can't back-up to ext hard drive (Error code CE-37850-3)

Since the 2.55 update I haven't been able to back-up my saves to my external hard drive. I used to do this regularly as my online storage is full. Now when I try it I just get the error code CE-37850-3. Have tried unplugging and reconnecting the hard drive. Can anyone help?

Leave the drive connected for a while (say 30 minutes), then try again. Am already doing this as I just leave the ext HD connected to the PS4 all the time, then at the end of a gaming session I back-up all the games I've played that day. My PS4 isn't even recognising the ext HD as when I click on USB storage to see what's on there I get the same error message. Never had these problems before this weeks update (2.55)   Thanks for your reply anyway.

  • Flash Player Error Codes?

Does anyone know where a list of the Error Codes for Flash Player is? I found the list for Flash Lite (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/314/314d9136.html).
I have Flash Player running standalone on Linux and is crashing/segfualt and it displays error code 4,5 or 6. Trying to figure out what these mean.

Thanks for the Live Docs link. I found the error codes for

  • No access to DVD Drive - error code 38

The driver update published 07/07/08 at 23:59 was installed on my system as directed by Toshiba Tempo but on restarting my machine I have error 38 (according to Vista) that prevents the new driver installing as the old driver is resident in memory..?? Effectively this means that I cannot access or see my DVD drive anymore other than in the Device Manager page of Control Panel. The rollback driver option is not available, possibly as it was a firmware update. The message in the Device Properties page is as follows:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)
The updatre installed was frmwre-20080707134447. It includes an Adobe document that tells you what to do and how to ensure that your drive requires updating, all of which was easy to follow and tied in with my machine.
I have tried uninstalling the device and driver, but each time I reload it the same error occurs.
I am really unimpressed and fairly annoyed, as this is a Toshiba recommended firmware update done using their Tempo system, any thoughts or advice welcome.
    Thanks
    Matt

    Hi
Do you see a CD/DVD drive in the device manager?
If yes, then remove it from the device list.
Then access the registry and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Finally reboot the notebook and check if the CD/DVD drive would functions again

    Hi mate
Dont worry it seems its just a registry issue.
First of all remove the CD/DVD drive from the device manager list.
Then go to registry and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
    +HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}+
    Details here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-us
    Then reboot the notebook.
Wait until the OS has recognized the CD/DVD drive again and check it.
