You may read through this to see if it's of any help...
If your computer has an older formerly-supported version
of Adobe Flash Player (for Mac PPC) and you get the
package download from Adobe archives, here: it will still
not be considered recent by some sites. But you could
(once you get the last 10.1.x from Adobe) uninstall the
older one already in the Mac using their uninstaller. Then
install the downloaded one (in same pkg as uninstaller)
so at least the rest of the Adobe Flash Player bits are
the latest ones. [Then there is a later patch to try.]

Hopefully this will help to at least get the last package from Adobe for
your vintage PPC OS X 10.5.8; I have this in my PPC G4 Macs, then I
used this other patch to make it act like a later (not latest) Flash player;
where you swap out the older Player in a certain folder, and put the later
one in its place. And save the older Player in a new folder, if it won't go.
I used this link to get the patch:
http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip
This is where it formerly had been found:
http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc
There are older web browsers that can be used, such as iCab, TenFourFox
and Seamonkey-for-PPC. The newer TenFourFox doesn't use Flash player.
This may help.
Good luck & happy computing!

best way to format my 16GB flash drive for Mac and PC transferring large power point files?

format flash drive in Exfat for transferring files between Mac and Pc.
    FORMAT TYPES
    FAT32 (File Allocation Table)
Read/Write FAT32 from both native Windows and native Mac OS X.
    Maximum file size: 4GB.
    Maximum volume size: 2TB
You can use this format if you share the drive between Mac OS X and Windows computers and have no files larger than 4GB.
    NTFS (Windows NT File System)
    Read/Write NTFS from native Windows.
Read only NTFS from native Mac OS X
To Read/Write/Format NTFS from Mac OS X, here are some alternatives:
For Mac OS X 10.4 or later (32 or 64-bit), install Paragon (approx $20) (Best Choice for Lion)
Native NTFS support can be enabled in Snow Leopard and Lion, but is not advisable, due to instability.
AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule do not support NTFS
    Maximum file size: 16 TB
    Maximum volume size: 256TB
You can use this format if you routinely share a drive with multiple Windows systems.
HFS+ ((((MAC FORMAT)))) (Hierarchical File System, a.k.a. Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Don't use case-sensitive)
    Read/Write HFS+ from native Mac OS X
Required for Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! backups of Mac internal hard drive.
To Read HFS+ (but not Write) from Windows, Install HFSExplorer
    Maximum file size: 8EiB
    Maximum volume size: 8EiB
You can use this format if you only use the drive with Mac OS X, or use it for backups of your Mac OS X internal drive, or if you only share it with one Windows PC (with MacDrive installed on the PC)
    EXFAT (FAT64)
Supported in Mac OS X only in 10.6.5 or later.
Not all Windows versions support exFAT.
    exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table)
AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule do not support exFAT
    Maximum file size: 16 EiB
    Maximum volume size: 64 ZiB
You can use this format if it is supported by all computers with which you intend to share the drive.  See "disadvantages" for details.

  • Artwork doesn't transfer to my Kingston flash drive for use in my car.

I am transferring songs to my Kingston flash drive for use in my car.  When I copy them from my folder and drop them in the flash drive the album artwork doesn't transfer.  I deleted the artwork from the songs of 1 CD, saved a jpg to my desktop and added to each individual song which works but would be crazy to do for all of the songs.  I am running ITunes 11.05.
I've looked in the communities but couldn't find anything about this.  Is there a way to revert back to ITunes 10?

Placing your iPhone in the toilet was the correct thing to do but you should have purchased an android phone instead. That would have solved these issues. :-)

  • Create bootable flash drive for Windows 8 in Boot Camp

I am running a Windows 8-based marine navigation program ("Coastal Explorer") in Boot Camp, on MacBook Air.  I would like to create a bootable flash drive for emergencies. Should it have Maverick or Windows 8 OS?  - or do I partition the key drive for both, with the Windows partition also containing a copy of the navigation software and maps for extra insurance? I guess the first question is, "Is this possible?" Then I would need to find information on how to create such a drive. All advice appreciated.

Windows drivers and Mac drivers have nothing to do with each other. So that's a no on your question.

  • Can I use more than one flash-drive for ready-boost on Satellite L650/0ed

    Hi,
I have a toshiba Satellite L650/0ed, is it alright if i use more than one 8gb flash-drive for 'ready boost' - what is the maximum number of flash-drives use can dedicate to 'ready-boost'.
In addition, if i use a 16gb flash-drive, will this dedicate more memory to 'ready-boost'.
Why is the seagate 1tb 3.5 expansion drive not compatible for ready-boost.
    Thank you,
    -Brent907

    Hi mate
Please check this Microsoft page which describes the ReadyBosst
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/readyboost
There you can find this statement:
+ReadyBoost works with most flash storage devices. In Windows 7, it can handle more flash memory and even multiple devices *up to eight* , for a maximum 256 gigabytes (GB) of additional memory.+
    Hopefully this can be helpful!

Mountain Lion fails to install saying it cannot create the recovery; I had a similar problem with Lion and the Apple Store that helped me resolve it gave me an installable version of Mountain Lion on a flash drive for my inconvenience....is there some trick I am missing or do I need to make an appointment with a genius...

I have the MacIntosh volume and the Boot Camp partition only.  I know that when I installed Lion, I had to go through a whole back-up and recovery of Windows and then re-format the drive.
The tech at the Apple Store had a previous life as a MSCE and was very helpful.  I believe he even said that I should not have htis problem with Mountain Lion which is why they gave me the flash with it onboard.  I was in the process of starting a new job when I went to Lion, so I have waited to do this next and probably last upgrade to this old MBP since I doubt Apple will support this MBP in Maverick.
I do not have another installation, so that is not an option.  I will try to create an external, I have plenty of hard drives around and see if I can get it done that way.  It might take me a week or two to get back to it, but I will comment back upon completion of that effort.  Thanks for your help....Dave Iverson

  • Is there a flash drive for the iPhone 5 so I can share

Is there a flash drive for the iPhone 5 that I can plug into my phone, copy all of the hundreds of photos and videos I've taken of my baby nephew using the iPhone camera to, and then pull out so I can just give the drive to my sister? Downloading/transferring all those photos and videos to my computer, then emailing or sorting and burning them to a disc would take FOREVER. The photos and videos of the baby are all mixed in with my personal photos and videos I've taken and sorting them out would be a nightmare. Plus, I want the original photos and videos to remain on my camera even after I copy them for my sister. Any help/ideas would be most appreciated!

    Hi Allan,
    Thank you for responding.
One clarification: I agree that the iPhone is not for long-term photo storage and I'm not looking to use it that way. What I'm looking for is a quick and easy way for me to get the photos/videos of my nephew to my sister so SHE can store them long-term. (Then I can delete all but a few of them and transfer them to my computer for storage pretty quickly and easily). The way I know to get all those photos/videos to her would take a very long time (which I don't have) and would require a lot of time sorting (which I don't have time to do either). Please don't suggest I pare down the photos and videos for her. This baby is a miracle baby and the Mom needs to get all the photos and videos. Understand where I'm coming from?
Regarding not keeping any favorite photos/videos on an iPhone: It seems normal to have some favorite photos and videos remain on an iPhone, kind of like a "Grandma's brag book" of most beloved photos. Even the most no-nonsense person might have 20-30 photos of someone or something they love, so they can share them with interested people or peruse them when they want to feel connected or be grounded.
I can't be the only person dealing with this issue/needing this type of hardware. Opportunities and need for photo sharing abound. If nothing else, it seems like an easy way for Apple to make a whole lot of extra money while making a whole lot of consumers very, very happy.
Any advice? Again, thanks very much.

  • When is Apple will make a Micro USB Flash Drive for iPads and iPhones ???

IIt's really a big help if Apple make their own Micro USB a Flash Drive for iPads and iPhones.

Apple would not tell people there are other brands on the market. It is my opinion that if Apple users keep asking for the USB for ipads, they might consider it. As for the iphone there MIGHT be a tiny slot inside where the battery is for an SD card, which expands the space. I know Android has that feature in their cell phones, but not sure about Apple.

  • HT3662 how to check flash drive for viruses

How to chech any flash drive for virusses on imac or mac book pro? . Thanks to anyone.

Thanks for your reply.  I can only answer in the most general of terms.  I intend to use Setup Assistant to move files to the new mac and realize that that procedure will indescriminately move files from my current iMac to the new one.  While the old Mac has no obvious major prolems, it does ocasionally crash or minorly "misbehave", and I thought I could obviate carrying over such problems to the new Mac.  I have used Disk Utility to verify the hard drive and to repair permissions and wondered if there is something analogous I could do regarding the myriad other files.

  • How Do You Test a Flash Drive for Errors Using OS X?

HI. In Windows there are Flash Drive tester that tests if there's something wrong with the Flash drive's chips. How do you test a flash drive for errors on OS X? I bought the HP v220w which is tiny for a 16GB and it's metal. The whole thing goes into the plug. Design wise, it is great, it's very elegant like a jewelry. Thanks in advance.
    Gbu.

Format it for OS X and run a surface scan on the partition. That should show any hardware problems that don't keep it from working altogether.

  • Convert flash drive for Windows 8.1 bootcamp installation from mbr to gpt

Trying to run Windows 8.1 pro x64 on my mid 2010 15" macbook pro. Get stuck during bootcamp installation in Windows because my partition table isn't compatible (MBR but needs to be GPT). My hard drive seems to be Logical partitions/volume etc, while my flash drive was formatted into MBR seemingly by bootcamp, or otherwise not altered into the GPT like it maybe should have.
    Generally followed this guide http://www.howtogeek.com/186907/how-to-install-windows-on-a-mac-with-boot-camp/
    Steps I took:
Had to use terminal/Xcode to edit info.plist from bootcamp to allow flash drive installation through bootcamp on my mac (removed the "pre" method).
With all three bootcamp options selected, managed to partition the drive
When restarted, my computer had black screen with "no bootable device found".
    Restarted again, holding alt/option
Flash drive was now available as one of two options (the other being my standard mac drive)
Windows Setup loaded. Selected language/imputed key/select version etc.
Here is the strange part, the division of the disk does not include "bootcamp" anywhere in the title (like it should according to the guide), and is about 10gb smaller than my partition (assume this is a normal result of windows installation/os files etc). When I try to format the partition, it says I can't, and explains that I can't use MBR, need to use GPT.
Attempted to rewrite disk with Shift F10 Diskpart, list disk, etc, but here it shows drive 0, 1, and 2, (rather than drive 0 partition 1,2,3,4, with 4 being my bootcamp I think). This seems to be a method for installing windows on a windows pc, and I didn't go through with it because I didn't want to loose my mac os yet.
I am not proficient with coding/terminal use, and don't know if there is an option to list partitions etc, so I'm stuck. I can backup my mac and potentially change my partition table etc, but I feel like restoring with time machine would then wipe my existing partition. Is there a workaround I could use? Is there a specific sequence of backups/restores that would work? I'm also okay with manually drag and dropping the files I want back onto a clean slate computer if necessary. Or would simply buying and burning a disc with windows save myself the hassle? Please advise.
Sorry for long question, wanted to get info out right away. Can include more if necessary. Thank you all for your time.

    TheMonark wrote:
I input that into mac terminal while running os? And then you'd like me to post the results on this discussion board?
Yes. It also helps if there are any calculations to be done with disk sectors.
My optical drive works fine, but I moved to France and didn't bring any disks. Would it be easier and safer to just burn my windows iso onto a disc and run it through bootcamp that way? I'm thinking the answer is yes at this point.
Yes, if you have a built-in Optical drive, Bootcamp expects to boot from the Optical drive, because it sets the CSM-BIOS layer for Windows to boot from the Optical drive settings in the NVRAM.
I'm about to head out to celebrate a birthday, but I will post back here in about 14 hours.
    Enjoy the party!
Do you recommend just buying a DVD and doing it that way? I could easily return my info.plist to normal, and as far as I know, my optical drive works fine. Seems simpler if it would work with my copies of osx and windows. What do you recommend?
The changes in info.plist enable creation of the USB, but do not influence the boot device pointer that BCA will set when switching to the Windows Installer. My recommendation is to get DVD writable media (DVD+R or equivalent) and burn the ISO to a physical DVD and use BCA to install windows using the BCA USB and DVD media.

  • Flash drive for Macbook?

I would guess it's going to be quite a few years before flash drives supplant hard drives if ever. What probably will happen soon is we'll see hybrid systems. 32 gigs isn't a lot, that's true, but it's plenty for storing the OS and frequently used applications, meaning the HD won't have to spin up, draining battery power and slowing things down. The HD would eventually be relegated to archiving material no used on a regular basis.
