Flash drive recognized by computer but not opening.
My friend has a HP v240 flash drive with storage capacity 4 GB.
Yesterday I plugged it in my laptop and copied some movies in it. I removed it from the laptop after I was done and then I plugged it in the desktop. There was some message saying the flash drive needs to be formatted before use which i ignored and closed. After that the flash drive wouldn't open. i tried unplugging it and plugged it again but it didn't work. i tried using it in a different port. the computer recognized the pen drive but when i tried opening the removable drive from MY COMPUTER there was a msg saying 'No disc found'. It shows the same message in all the ports and also in my laptop when I tried plugging it there too. I tried all recovery options to make it work including the HP recovery tool but it wouldn't work. I tired all other methods for formatting but i am unable to format it because it shows a message that 'the device has no media'.
Please Help.
I get to answer my own question. The MacBook Pro did finally recognize the flash drive when I changed the filename of the file I copied to it on the iMac to the fat32 format. (only 8 characters --> 12345678.ext )
Makes no sense to me but I am not an Apple code writer.

I connect my ipod touch to my hp laptop while itunes 9 is open. My computer recognizes the ipod touch but it never appears in my itunes. I have an ipod touch 16gb, Gateway computer using Vista, and my computer recognized the ipod but itunes didn't start up when I plugged it in and it was not recognized in itunes.
Long story short, after reading almost every thing I could find on google and Apple help I stumbled onto the info about the 2.0 usb port. In looking to see if my computer had a 2.0 usb port (just to be sure)I found that it would be listed as "enhanced" in the Universal Serial Bus Controller section of Device Manager. Sooooo, I tried updating those drivers and it worked! I think. I did so many things, but this seemed to do the trick. It's worth a try. Mine is working perfectly now.

right click on the "enhanced host controller" (mine listed 2, so I did both)
choose automatic update
then plug in the ipod. That seemed to allow my ipod to download the proper driver. Tadaaa - itunes started and my ipod is now recognized in itunes.
Worth mentioning is that my ipod had to do a restore. Not sure why, maybe it was something apple had me try.

IPod touch 3rd gen recognized by computer but not by iTunes
My iPod touch 3rd gen is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen. It became stuck on the screen while updating to the newest software and is still stuck. It is recognized by my PC as an "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" in recovery mode but is not recognized by iTunes.
I have tried multiple suggestions by the Apple Support pages related to this issue, and even reinstalled all Apple programs on my PC, but iTunes still fails to recognize the iPod.
Is there any other ways I could go about solving this issue? It seems I have tried everything so far..See if running diagnostics will help

USB FLASH DRIVE WORKS ON MAC BUT NOT ON WINDOWS... CAUSE I ERASED IT IN MAC
I decided to take my work flash drive home to work on a file. At home I saw that some weird files were on the flash drive and wouldn't delete, so I decided to save my files on my Mac and erase the USB flash drive. I selected the flash drive (by the way it's a 2 GB flashdrive) and I used the SECURITY OPTION 35 PASS ERRASE. Format: MS-DOS (FAT).
Everything was fine until I took my flash drive to work and plugged it on a Windows XP Computer and it appeared as Drive E I think and when I tried to open it it asked me to format it. I risked it and clicked OK and it said that I didn't have sufficient rights or something.

Insert the drive in the Mac and start Disk Utility (Utilities folder).
Select the drive in the left column. Be sure to select the drive (all the way to the left) not a volume (indented below the drive name).
Select the "Partition" tab.
Set "Volume Scheme" to "1 Partition" (not "Current" even if it's already one partition).
Click the "Options" button".
Select "Master Boot Record".
Click the "OK" button.
Enter a volume name (all uppercase).
Set "Format" to "MS-DOS (FAT)".
Click the "Apply" button. -
5th generation ipod is recognized by computer but not by itunes.
Every time I try to sync, iTunes doesn't respond. I just get the spinning beach ball and I must force quit. The computer recognizes the ipod but not Itunes. Both work fine independent of each other.

ASAP!! Flash Player Works on Computer But Not Live. (Could Be Easy)
I need to present this site in a couple of hours and ran into this problem.
I just added a Flash button that works perfectly on every single page except my gallery.php. All the other pages are .html. On my computer I can see the button perfectly, but when I uploaded and viewed the file it tells me to update my player. Why would it not work live and does it have anything to do with it being a .php file? Here's a link that works, The "Primerica" button on the top right is the focal point.

The other problem with IE is probably unrelated to this. Did
you reinstall Flash for IE? For IE, you have to run the exe program
with winax.exe in the name. -
Flash drive works on Mac but not PC
I got this new flash drive. It's a generic brand. The first thing I did was plugged it into my iMac, saved a few files, and renamed the drive. However, when I plug it into a PC, essentiallly any version of Windows, it won't show up. On Windows XP, it'll try to recognize it when I first put it into the port, then it'll say that it failed to recognize it. After that, it just won't bother with it anymore. On Windows 7 Ultimate, it does nothing. Haven't tried Vista.
I thought that it was a problem with the Windows OS, so I tried looking for the drive in Disk Management. It just doesn't show up at all, anywhere. Plugging it into a Windows is like doing nothing.
It works perfectly fine on Mac, it reads, writes, copies, everything. So I reformatted the drive with Disk Utility using FAT32, even partitioned it, all MS-DOS. I actually did this several times and tried plugging it into both the XP and 7, but still nothing happens. I just don't understand what could possibly be wrong with it.
I saw reviews on it and every single person says they have had no problem with it on their PC. One even said it works just fine between PC and Mac.
Is mine just defective or is there something I haven't done?Your flash drive needs to be formatted to be in FAT32 format. That is the file structure that is compatible with both Windows PC's and Macs. (If you formatted it for a Mac and it's "Journaled" then it will ONLY work on Macs.)
But to be able to do this, you have to erase the entire Flash drive and start over. So you will need to back up your files somewhere else first.

I have had many issues with flash drives being incompatible in Windows 7. You might need to manually upgrade the flash drive's drivers or visit the manufacturer's website for troubleshooting issues with Windows 7. If you formatted the drive to FAT32 already, and it works on the Mac, then this is no long a "Mac issue". Your time would be better spent in the manufacturer's support forums. (or a Windows 7 support forum) -
Hard drive recognized in mac but not in windows
Hi, I have an external hard drive which I loaded up from my Mac originally and has only been used in my Mac since.
Today, I plugged it into a Windows computer and it would not show up in My Computer...
does anyone know why my external hard drive is recognized just fine on my Mac, but doesn't show up in the Windows computer?
If it has to do with naming my hard drive, how do I do it correctly on the Mac?
Thanks!That's really a question you should be asking Microsoft, however it may have to do with the way the EHD is formatted. Is it formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or is it formatted another way. You can check this by right clicking the EHD, and selecting Information. Of you can select the EHD in Finder and type Command I.

Ipod is recognized by computer but not by iTunes
When i plug in my ipod 5 to my windows computer, it beeps and a windows page pops up asking if i want to import pictures or view files off the ipod but iTunes does not recognize the iPod, it does not show up as being connected to the computer on iTunes.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

Hi,
I hope someone can help. I have just purchased an ipod shuffle and went through all the installation okay to find the ipod just blinks in orange mode and is not recognised or picked up by itunes. There is no symbol present in the sources bar.
The computer has picked it up and describes it as a usb disc drive. The drivers for it look to be windows ones and can be found in the device manager under disc drives. I tried to change the drivers but found it just kept replacing them with windows ones.
I downloaded the help pages and went through the lenghty process of uninstalling ipod and itunes and reinstalling them, making sure my norton security center was disabled, but I still encounter the same problem.
Is there anyone who has had similar problems or can advise me what to do please.

If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes, right click on the iPod in iTunes, select options and if you have a check mark in the box marked “enable disk use”, remove it and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think? -
I take a .NEF file and a .JPG file with every click. When I transfer the files using a flash drive to another computer I never get all of the files to transfer. I get some of the .NEF and some of the .JPGs but not all. How come?
If you're exporting a project then you'll only get the images in that project. Also if any of the masters are referenced then you won't get those masters unless you check Consolidate masters into exported library
It might be best if you started from the beginning and explained what it is your are trying to do and how you're going about doing it. Also a description of you're hardware/software setup would be helpful. -

I formaatted the iPod nano as FAT32 using the format option when right-clicking on the drive in My Computer.
