Flash Drive Won't Run, Why??????

My question is not about Cloud, but your Flash Player as it's not on your list of products, I used this.  I installed it to use my web cam to take photos and file them for furture us and to attach to CV,s.  It's installed, my computer says it's installed,
but it won't run and it has locked out any other use of my web cam. Why????

To help troubleshoot we'll need the following system information:
Operating system
Browser
Flash Player version
When reporting issues with video or audio, it's also helpful to get your system hardware and driver details.  Instructions for finding this can be found here:
Windows
Mac
Thanks,
Chris

Did you install both the ActiveX (for Internet Explorer) and plugin (for Firefox)?  And both browsers show the same problem?
    On Internet Explorer
is Shockwave Flash object enabled (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/885448)?

wqn02h, first thing I would do is use Disk utility to repair permissions. Once this is done. Make sure you have the latest versions of the software you use. Also, check the manufacter of your printer/scanner for updated software. If they don't have updated software there are 3rd party alternatives that will work.

  • Moved iTunes from 'C' to 'E' drive - won't run!

A while back I had my kids move itunes from the 'c' drive to the 'e' drive. I don't think they really knew what they were doing, they lost alot of music, but at least it was running.
Yesterday, I went to upgrade it, by clicking upgrade from itunes while it was running. I thought it would automatically update it in the 'e' drive. It did not. I probably should have stopped there, but I didn't. I did an iTunes search and tried to manually move files from the 'c' to the 'e' drive. It isn't working. There is an itunes version still on the 'c' drive - it's running, but it is empty with no music. The itunes on the 'e' drive won't run at all. I have downloaded it, installed it, restarted the computer several times, but it continues state that files are missing and it won't run.
I sure hope I didn't lose their music! OMG!
    Please help!
    One frantic mom,
    Thank you!

You can move your music wheresoever you desire on your computer but the iTunes application itself - the program - is much happier when it stays on the C: drive. It sounds like you've tried moving the program which may well be the cause of your problems.
You are still able to start iTunes on the C: drive though, right? But the Library display is blank?
In that case, the easiest way to get back on track is to start all over again with your iTunes Library by by following the instructions in the Add to Library section of this KB article .
This will update iTunes with a list of all the files you add but will not maintain any of your playlists or related information (playcounts, dates added, dates last played, ratings, comments, etc.)

  • Flash drive won't mount on iMac but mounts on all other computers

I have two new PNY 8GB flash drives and both work on a Windows 7 laptop and two different Macbook Pro computers.  One Macbook is running 10.6 and the other is running 10.7.  Two other flash drives work just fine on the iMac but these PNY sticks do not.
I have restarted the iMac with and without the sticks plugged in.
I have tried all USB ports.
I have tried Disk Utility but I do not see anything on the left.
I have look in /Volumes and I don't see the USB stick.
What am I missing?  Why won't it work on the iMac but works on the Macbooks?

My other USB memory sticks, an iPhone, and two iPods work normally plugged into the USB connectors on the iMac.  It is just this one brand of USB sticks that don't work on the iMac BUT the same sticks work on two different MacBook Pro computers and even a Windows 7 computer.

  • Flash Drive Won't Mount Except At Startup

Just bought a little 1Gb USB Flash drive which is USB 1.1 compatible. I want it for transferring files back and forth between my OS 10.4 G5 at home and the old blue and white G3 (OS 9.2.2) I have to use at work.
Trouble is, the G3 won't mount the drive unless it's inserted before startup. Apple System Profiler knows it's there when I put it in one of the USB slots on the back of the computer or in the spare slot on the Macally keyboard, but in neither case does it mount. I've looked at the USB events log in System Profiler and it registers the device being inserted and its call on the USB Mass Storage driver like this:
    13436.785: [ 75579098]: Driver - Hub Driver - Device found, calling USBHubAddDevice. Port 3
    13437.266: [ 75580125]: Expert - LoadClassDriver: USBCompositeDevice1.5.6 - calling driver initialize routine... 0
    13437.267: [ 75580125]: Expert - LoadClassDriver: USBCompositeDevice1.5.6 - driver initialization completed 0
    13437.578: [-1744497139]: Expert - LoadInterfaceDriver: USBMassStorageDriver - calling driver initialize routine... 0
    13437.580: [-1744497139]: Expert - LoadInterfaceDriver: USBMassStorageDriver - driver initialization completed 0
So there's nothing there that says "fail" there unless that's what the zero at the end of each line means.
If I shut down the computer, insert the drive then start up, it shows up on the desktop no problem. It won't show up again if I trash and remove it though.
However, a graphite G4 in my office, which also runs OS 9.2.2 and seems to have an identical system install, will mount the drive with no problem on any of its USB ports.
Is this a case of the G3's USB ports being underpowered and there's no way round it, or is there a fix out there somewhere?
    G3 Blue & White   Mac OS 9.2.x

However, a graphite G4 in my office, which also runs OS 9.2.2 and seems to have an identical system install, will mount the drive with no problem on any of its USB ports.
Try this: Copy all of the extensions on the G4 that have USB in their names into the Extensions folder on the G3, replacing the USB extensions that are there; then restart and test again. Some of them may be older or newer versions than the ones on the G3 now, and that can make a difference. Note that in OS 9.x, it isn't always the newer versions of the USB extensions that work better.
Also see this user tip from Apple employee Joerg Weise. In it he lists 6 USB extensions (with version numbers) that can often resolve USB problems in OS 9, even under circumstances different from those described at the beginning of his comments.

  • Flash Player won't Run in Unsafe Mode anymore

    Hi everyone,
Yesterday I installed this new version of Safari (6.2), but it ended up breaking Flash Player and the ability to run Flash in Unsafe Mode. "Why would I want to run it in unsafe mode?" you might ask. I use Hear an EQ to improve the audio quality, and the only way to make it work with Safari and Flash Player is by using it in Unsafe Mode. And that's another reason why I still use ML, because Mavericks is so sandboxed that Hear won't even work on the system sounds, like Alerts and Quick Look.
If anyone have a solution to this, I more then appreciate your help. If there is no solution, could you send me the link to the old version of Safari and how to downgrade? I think the old version is the 6.1.2, not sure.
    Thank You,
    Jake.

It's installing correctly if it's in your Add-ons manager. The "plugin" is 6mb. The rest is WAY bigger.
    See:
The rest of the problem ISN'T with Flash Player. It's with IE11.
This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Usb flash drive won't mount in disc utility

running mountain lion on new imac .... usb flash drive was working, the next hour inserted it again and it doesn't show up in "devices".  Opened disc utility - it shows up there but won't mount and all the "verify disc" and repair disc" functions are greyed.
Same result when I insert it into my macbook.

Did you put it in another computer and save data to it since it last worked? did you properly eject the disk?
sounds like you need to reformat the flash drive
If you need to save the data , plug it in to a pc and see if you can copy to hd.
Then take to your Mac and format it in disk utility. I recommend using windows format.
Then plug in to your PCM and get the files.
Then.. Eject the USB disk, don't just pull it out. Take to your Mac and it should mount

  • Flash Drive Won't Eject as a Whole

My Computer (Windows 8) won't let me eject my flash drive in one piece.  It works fine on the other computers (Windows 7 & XP) in my house.  When I click "Safely Remove Hardware", three buttons appear:
Cruzer Micro [faded & not clickable]
    >  - Eject Removable Disk (F:)
    >  - Eject Removable Disk (G:)
When I eject both clickable links, the light on my flash drive doesn't turn off, but the "Safely Remove Hardware" link shows:
    ... [faded & not clickable]
Any way of fixing this?  Thanks.
    P.S.
I cant upload images of this without verification.

  • USB flash drive won't mount

I have a strange problem with a USB flash drive which refuses to mount on the desktop of my MDD FW800. It registers in System Profiler but not in Disk Utility. I can't get it to mount using Terminal either. The Terminal screen says it has mounted but it doesn't appear on the desktop and I can't access it. However, if I do a restart with the the drive plugged in, it does mount. If I eject it and then try to plug it in again, it won't mount! Very frustrating.
It works fine on my Powerbook and my Digital Audio so it can't be the drive itself that's the problem. Not quite sure when this started but it may have been after I installed a PCI USB2.0 card (a Ratoc Rex-PCIU3). The card itself works fine with other USB products and I don't have any deep sleep problems with it either. I'm stumped.
    Any suggestions anyone?

    Hello rickame
Click on the desktop then go up to the menu bar and select Finder / Finder Preferences / General and make sure the box's are checked for Hard disk, External disks, etc.. then reconnect the drive. If you still don't see it on the desktop it may have been improperly disconnected from the iMac while mounted, look to see if it show's up in Disk Utilities and the System Profiler on the USB bus. If you are plugging it into the keyboard, try one of the USB ports on the back of the iMac or a powered hub. There also could be a conflict with other USB devices, try ejecting and disconnect things like an iPod, a printer/scanner or camera, then restarting the iMac and connect only the Flash drive.

  • Downloaded latest version Adobe Flash Player, Won't run.

D/L adobe flash player, windows 7, 32 bit, but computer won't run it.  Checked add-ons, registry, etc.  Any ideas???

Flash Player is a built-in component of Google Chrome, so there's nothing separate to download or manage.  It might be an easier option.
    http://www.google.com/chrome/
Otherwise, what browser are we talking about?  Do you have any add-ons like AdBlock Pro or Ghostery that might interfere with how Flash operates?

  • Flash drive won't open, or I'm not seeing it!  HELP

I have a flash drive plugged into the correct USB port on my iMac .. but it does not automatically open on my desktop, and I can't find where to locate it!  I need to ultimately copy the content from the flash drive onto either a CD or a file that I can then upload to DropBox and share.  HELP

By default, the Mac OS does not show mounted drives on the Desktop but you can easily change that. Make sure your can see the word "Finder" at the left end of your menubar. Click the "Finder" menu and find "Preferences."
In the "General" tab of Finder Preferences, check all the boxes in the upper section (the ones I have outlined in red):

  • My flash drive won't let me delete or add files to it

I use a flash drive to bring work between my Mac at home and the Mac at work.  It has a lot on it, but it is not full.  I can open it and get files from it, but I can't delete files from it or add any more.  I tried to duplicate it on a desktop and it started and then stopped saying I didn't have permission finish the operation.  I have tried the "Move to trash" menu on 3 different Macs.  One, a PPC G4 with Leopard, another a Core two duo with Leopard , and a 2011 MBP with Snow Leopard.
It is a 4GB Lexar drive.
    Any help sure appreciated.

The drive is probably formatted as NTFS (default Win file system). Without additional software, Mac OS X can only read NTFS. You need to re-format the flash drive with Disk Utility. If you're only going to use it with Macs, format it as JHFS+ (Mac OS Extended Journaled). If you're going to use it with Macs and PCs, format it as FAT32 (MS-DOS FAT). Formatting it will destroy all data presently on the drive, so back it up first.

  • Lexar flash drive won't show up on Macbook Air?

I've been using my Lexar Twist turn flash drive on my Macbook Air for a while now and it has been working perfectly. The last time I've used it without trouble was around May - June. Just recently I plugged my flash drive in and it didn't pop up... as if nothing was inserted. I've plugged it into my PC as well and it worked fine. I've tried checking the disk utility but it didn't show up in there either. Help.
My Macbook Air is an OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 if that helps...

    Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist and com.apple.finder.plist.  Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting and test. If it works okay, delete the plists from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plists to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • Flash drive won't open

Help!  My flashdrive had decied not to open and I'm getting a s.m.a.r.t. status not supported  note when i'm trying to open it.  What does this mean???  Is all my data lost???

SMART support does not extend to USB flash drives, at least not any I've tried. You can ignore any SMART status comments DU gives.
Does the drive not appear on your desktop at all, or does it appear there but does not respond to a double-click?
