Flash drop down menus in IE 6
I have a simple flash drop down menu (under the blue shop now
button) that works in all browsers except IE 6. In IE 6, the
browser sees the drop down menu as an element that takes up a lot
of vertical space (the length of the menu). Anyone know any tricks
to get it to see it as a menu and float on top the other elements
as it does in the other browsers?

I recently updated to the newest version of Flash (17.0.0.134) and I have a MacBook Air, running OS X and I have Safari version 8.0.4. Ever since the update I can no longer select drop down menus or get Netflix to run properly. Has anyone else had this issue/know how to resolve it?
1. System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All
Press “Delete All” button under “Browsing Data and Settings”.
2. Install Adobe Flash Player.
System Preferences > Flash Player > Updates
Press the “Check Now” button.
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Download it and quit Safari from Safari menu in the menu bar.
Follow the prompts to install Adobe Flash Player. -
Hello-
I am using css drop down menus on my site and they drop down
over an swf. I have figured out how to make this work in IE/Win and
Firefox, but it isn't so great in Safari. Adobe.com has the same
problem in Safari.
Here is the link:
http://www2test.ku.edu/~kueafin/index.html
Is there any way to get rid of the weirdness between flash
and drop downs??
Thanks!Thanks, Al.

In IE, I cannot seem to get the drop down menus to appear in
front of the swf files that runs below them. I've tried the "wmode"
and "transparent" settings which work fine in Firefox, but I can't
get it right in IE. Any help would be appreciated.I have the same problem and Í can't find the solution
for this. -
When I tried to open the web browser the browser flashed black and white at start up, then all the applications when i open a new window are completely black, I am unable to view the drop down menus as the come out as random pixels. This happens to all new applications i have been able to open. The document window opens as plain white but if you click on it it opens a document even though you cant see any thumb nails. Some of the documents are open as normal images/files. Having been a mac user for 10 years i have never seen anything like this before, any ideas or suggestions
I have started running a virus check.
There are no viruses for OSX. Uninstall the software, repair permissions and restart your computer. Especially if it's Norton's. It's known to cause problems.
To rule out a hardware problem, run the hardware test: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11342 OS X Mountain Lion: Use Apple Hardware Test and zapp the PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11342 OS X Mountain Lion: Use Apple Hardware Test.
In the end you may need to lug your iMac down to your local AASP or an AS. Diagnostic testing is FREE!
i have had a mac in fact it is 17 years.

Help with actionscripting multiple drop-down menus
So I have 3 different drop down menus that I want to use, and I want them to all work together so that if I have drop down menu number one open, the 2nd menu will drop down while the 1st one is still down.
(I'm using Flash cs3)

Drop down menus / search engine friendly
Hi,
I've been tasked with creating a new company website and having it go live April 10th. I would like to use iWeb to get it done.
Are drop down menus possible with iWeb? To be clear, I'm talking about if you hover your cursor over a menu item; say products, a drop down menu will appear listing specific products and link to that products page.
The other main requirement is that the site be search engine friendly. Our current website is in Flash and is virtually invisible to search engines.
I hope that these questions haven't been answered by digging just a little further, it's just that I'm under a tight deadline and must get started.
I've been a Mac user since 88 and I would like to work on my preferred platform. I've got a decent background in design. (I'd like to not use Dreamweaver under this deadline) Our current website is www.rapid.com. It was made from a flash template that I was told to use so I made the best of it.
I'm going for a clean looking non fussy user experience, unlike what we have now.
Thanks for any help you may have.As Massimo says, they are just fine in the basic sense.
The adminition you are familiar with was related to *any*
menu system that
embedded your actual menu links within javascript
'document.write' commands,
just the way the DW pop-up menus prior to CS3 does, and the
way the FW
pop-up menus prior to FW8 did.
If you can look at the HTML on the psge, and SEE the links in
the HTML, then
a search engine will also be able to see them, and therefore
spider your
site.
BUT - if you have sub-menus, and I have javascript disabled,
*I* will not be
able to access those sub-menu links when I come to your site.
Further,
neither will anyone with a screen reader. That's a
problem....

Drop Down Menus in Photoshop CS 6 Goes Blank In Mavericks
Hi
I'm having trouble with Photoshop CS6 in Mavericks. After a working a little while, all pop up/drop down menus goes blank. They still work, but I can't see what's on them. Even the Apple menu bar is afflicted by this, though only when Photoshop is in the front.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks. PS: I do use a cintiq on a 2012 Macbook Pro 15" with retina display.We are also having this issue with our two brand new 27 inch iMacs (not Haswell but the previous model) in our photography studio. We're running recent installs of Photoshop CC and since the computers are only used for Photoshop, the only thing we installed on them was Photoshop, Bridge, and nothing else except the driver for our Wacom Intuos 4 tablets. The issue started happening today on both computers, right after installing Mavericks this morning. It never happened before.
So far, the issue happened once on each of two computers over the course of 6 hours of continuous work.
The issue is solved when quitting Photoshop and reopening it, however, when having many unsaved files open, it becomes almost impossible to save them as the menu and dialog boxes are all blank. So it inderectly leads to lost data.
Here's the system info from one of the computers:

To be specific, would these drop down menus on this page

work in CS4?
Cam Flash CS4 create drop down menus without getting into
scripting? If so, is it like DW? Want to do a site like this

Thanks.

No it can't.
It's just like regular flash with the ability to design every
single element from scratch,
it is not Power Point ;)
The new features are more for Time line oriented design but
nothing too major. I have been
playing for a while and with all honesty, because I don't
code in AS 3.0, I don't find it useful
and I move back to Flash 8 Pro.

Help with rollover drop down menus
I created a flash document with rollover drop down menus, but
the menus some times won't go back up unless you rollover their
associated buttons again. Also I created a link inside one of the
buttons on one of the menus, but when you click that button the
menu stays down until you rollover the button again. Some times 2
menus will be down at the same time. Can anyone help me fix these
problems? I'm a beginner and this is the first flash movie I've
ever made.There is a lot of documentation on the web describing techniques to implement "Cascading Dropdown lists in Excel".
A few starting points that may be helpful:

Flash Drop Downs - Please Help!
THANKS in advance for the help you can provide.
I am attempting to build a flash drop down navigation bar and I followed the Tutvid video tutorial on YouTube, which launched successfully - it looks wonderful!
However, when I wanted to add additional drop down menus for other buttons, the video has a big gap in information for the beginner (me).
To speak the same language, the video is at this address: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC7BaZCForE
Action Script sequences to scroll to are the following:
1. Movie where drop downs are created on timeline with action script: 29:13
2. Action Script content for Hit Area: 29.52
3. Root Layer action script: 32:33
I assumed that I should be adding my additional menu drop downs on the same timeline window as the first. I added new layers for the menus and frames, but I thought I should write the action script for the new menus on the same action script layer as the first. I added action script 10 frames from the first menu, so the next grouping began at frame 20 and ended at frame 30.
Adding the second menu (I want more but stopped when I tested) resulted in the two menus alternately blinking on and off so a repeating movie kicks in and no "over" and "out" functions for the menu are recognized.
I'll now paste in my code for corresponding segments from his video so maybe you can show me where I need to change my coding to make it all work. Apparently my function definition needs to change, but I have no clue what that means or how it needs to be different. Before I paste, however, let me share the error that pops up:
Location: Symbol 'mcDropDowns', Layer AS MugCup', Frame 20, Line 4
Description: 1021: Duplicate function definition.
Okay, here's my coding:
1.
Frame 1
stop();
clicker_mc.visible = false;
2.
Frame 10
stop ();
mugFrame_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, goBackF);
function goBackF(event:MouseEvent):void{
gotoAndStop(1);
Frame 20
stop ();
tableFrame_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, goBackF);
function goBackF(event:MouseEvent):void{
gotoAndStop(1);
3.
var navBtnGlow:GlowFilter = new GlowFilter(0x425616, 0.75, 0, 15, 1, 2, true, false);
navBar_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, navOverF);
navBar_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, navOutF);
function navOverF(event:MouseEvent):void{
event.target.filters = [navBtnGlow];
navBar_mc.setChildIndex(event.target as MovieClip, 1);
dropMenus_mc.gotoAndStop(navBar_mc.getChildAt(1).name);
trace("We are Rolled Over..." + navBar_mc.getChildAt (1).name)
function navOutF(event:MouseEvent):void{
event.target.filters = [];
navBar_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, navOverF);
navBar_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, navOutF);
Please know that I realize this will take a few moments for you to compare my code to what's on the video. Know that you will be doing me a TREMENDOUS favor by helping me to understand the theory behind replicating this step.
I look forward to hearing from you - THANKS!Ah, no... I tested it further, and found that the script I
posted above is not causing the problem. This puts me even further
back than before... I truly have absolutely no idea what part of
the applet is malfunctioning now.
If there is any sort of list of known reasons for the flash
player to crash... actionscript or animation... I would greatly
appreciate seeing it.
Sorry if I'm failing to provide enough information about my
problem... -
I was under the impression that Flash allowed one to place
buttons within buttons. Basically I am trying to create a simple
drop down navigation menu. A simple horizontal bar with four
buttons that change color and drop down menus as the viewer scrolls
over the buttons. I would then like the drop down text titles to
change color as the viewer scrolls over the individual items on the
drop down menu. When the viewer clicked on the title ("down"
position) it would once again change color. Thank you.I ended up doing just what you suggested and everything in
the Universe is back in place.
Thank you. -
My Drop Down Menus Do Not Work Properly in IE
Hey. I'm really stuck and have been for over a week. Let me preface this by telling you I didn't build our website and have little knowledge of spry and spry assets. I can't the get the gentleman that built our site to help and I'm desperate!
The site - www.ncsoccer.org , has drop down menus. They work fine in Chrome, FF and Live Preview (DW CS4). But in IE8, they do not.
I had to revise the drop downs (changing names and removing some drop downs - I've done this with no problem before). When I uploaded the index page and the template pages, the error started.
In addition, the people in my office that use Contribute to update their sections, cannot access anything but our index page and I don't know what (if anything) I've done wrong, as everything worked fine before the menu revision.
I'm including the 'sprymenubarhorizontal.css" code below. Maybe you can see something that isn't right.
Thanks for any insight or suggestions. Remember, asking me to create to create sprys or widgets or something like that may be over my head! Try to dumb it down for me!
Thanks.

Cheers,

The above headline pretty much covers the problems.
Access to the drop down menus is erratic. Sometimes it's problem-free, but at other times it's impossible to see the options on the menu, or if they are visible, it's impossible to effect a change by clicking on one of them. The times I notice it most is when I am trying to change fonts or font sizes, but it occurs at other times, as well.
It's also frustrating to have to deal with double spacing (for example, when describing items on eBay). Sometimes the text flows normally, but if I force a return, the text that follows usually is double-spaced.
Often, the justification option does not work either.
Occasionally, I can get around one problem or another by switching back and forth between Safari and Firefox, but eventually, the original problem resurfaces.
Because it happens on both browsers, eBay tech support is inclined to think the problem is in my software. (I'm inclined to agree.)
Although they have suggested clearing the history in FF, that option must have been relocated, because it'sno longer under the "Tools" menu, where it was in the past. I also can't find the clear your cache option on OS Safari or 10.8.3.callthescribe wrote:

I don't think it'd help much but clearing history is now in the History menu, and setting FF to clear history on exit is near the bottom of the Privacy tab of FF Preferences.
Also, if you don't have the Develop menu in Safari, open Safari preferences, click Advanced, and select “Show Develop menu in menu bar.” You'll find "Empty Caches" there.
