Flash encoding

I'm a total novice here. I have created my company's very
simple websites in DW MX 2004 (
http://www.silver100.com and
http://www.silverfacts.com),
and am now going to CS3. I got Premiere Elements 3 and Visual
Communicator 3 beta and plan to be producing some short and
relatively simple video presentations (with some still images and
some large text in it as well) for marketing to put on our web site
(and perhaps DVD). I have zero experience with this and even less
time for a learning curve.
I'm under the impression that I'll probably want to put some
or most of our videos onto the web in Flash format. And if that's
the case, it seems my choices for converting video to Flash are:
- free software (not my first choice)
- low-cost third-party software (my second-to-last choice)
- Dreamweaver CS3
- Flash CS3 Pro
It seems Premiere Elements (and even Premiere Pro for that
matter, as well as any other video editing software from Adobe)
will output to FLV format, but that that's still not enough for
putting that on your website as a Flash video. You need it to go to
SWF.
According to my searching the Adobe website under Flash
development info, the only two programs Adobe makes that will do
the actual encoding (correct term?) for putting FLV files into SWF
is either the Flash program itself or Dreamweaver. The info says
Dreamweaver obviously is considerably more limited than the Flash
program (of course), an example being limited choices for the
player interface and controls (which I can't imagine I'm going to
care about since the basics is all I really want).
It seems to me that it's just generally a good idea for me to
move up from DW MX 2004 to DW CS3 at this time anyway if I plan to
put videos of any format on my web pages anyway, and that all
things considered, DW CS3 is also my best bet for creating the
Flash player/encoding.
Does it seem I'm on the right track with that conclusion?

Oh, now I see... it seems I had misread the item under:

So, I'm back to finding the most practical, affordable,
user-friendly way to do the encoding. Maybe a free or low-cost
third-party program (I swear, someone in TS for Premiere CS3 Pro
told me to search for a free FLV encoder on the web)... and maybe
I'm also back to reconsidering if Flash is even best for my needs
versus QuickTime or WMV format. Now that I think about it, I'm
guessing a lot of those more professional-looking promotional and
educational videos I see a lot on the web these days that use just
a little video box with a very simple player right on the web page
are using QuickTime, not Flash. Does that seem perhaps accurate? Or
are the probably Flash? (Is there a way to look into the properties
or source of such a page and find out?)

S video with Flash Encoder 3.2

We stream a great number of events for clients around the country. We have just transitioned from Windows Media Encoder to Flash Encoder 3.2. Is there any work around for those clients of ours that use S video out of their cameras. Flash Encoder does not seem to work when the video output is through an S video plug. In Windows Media Encoder you could configure the encoder for eitehr composite or S video. I do not see this option available in Flash Encoder 3.2 Am I missing something? Any help would be much appreciated.

The option for using s-video or composite should be done on the grabber-card in youre computer.
widthout more information about youre setup, my only tip for you would be to start FMLE, select youre grabber card, and click on the button to the right, with an wrench on it to change settings on the card.

WCV200 Camera using Adobe Flash Encoder

Hi all,
I have searched the forum for this topic and come up with no treads.
Is it possible to use the WCV200 camera with Adobe Flash Encoder? I am hopeing to use this to feed the stream into the Flash Server so I can put it onto a website.

I believe this can’t be done. You can only use the camera using the web utility or the camera utility software to view the video of the camera especially via live feed.

Flash Encoding Server Notifier Issue?

Just installed and managed to get the Flash Encoding Server working within a minute the only issue is with the Web Notifiers. The IIS error logs shows that the server is not replacing the token %destinationname%. I have checked the spelling 4 times and nothing. It works for the other tokens. I need help ASAP.

There is not a developer version of the Flash Media Encoding
Server available for download.

Adobe Flash Encoder on Windows Server 2003 and SDI inputs

Has anyone out there successfully installed and run the Adobe
Flash Encoder on a Windows Server 2003 system?
Also, will the Flash Encoder accept audio and video sourced
from an Osprey 2000 capture card using an SDI input?

Does anyone have any alternate I/O solutions for inputting
Composite, Component, SDI, XLR? I've beel looking for a rack
mounted box (preferably) that inputs accepts analog and digital
formats and outputs a firewire feed that can be input into my Flash
Media Encoder box (I thought Motu's V4HD fit the bill, but after
talking to them apparently it will not work...).

You can do server side play of the recorded media file. After that once any one connects to that application, that file will be played as live. Following is the code to do this:

Anyone connecting to above app will be able to play "foo" as livestream name.

Flash encoder install problem

When I tried to open the Flash Encoder, it tries to install
the encoder software and searches and cannot find an Encoder.msi
file. I point it to the installation cd but that doesn't work. Any
suggetions? I have Sutdio 8 and everthing else seems to work fine
but the Encoder.

You need to override the auto update feature from outside of
flash.

Use their uninstaller again. Then make a file with
notepad(Start>Run, notepad or notepad.exe), call it mms.cfg and
put one line in it with the following text:

and put it in c:\Windows\system per that page I linked to:

After you uninstall, you may want to grab CC Cleaner and use
that to remove just the flash data, but dont mess with the other

Flash encoder pro isn't encoding my file at all

I click add and then I chose the video file which I made on
my video camera and nothing happens. I am able to change music
files if I like but that is it. I have a mac power book G4 osx if
that helps. What can I do?

With Flash Encoder Pro, do you mean the shipped with Flash 8
/ CS3?
If nothing happens then it's mostly because the videocodec is
not supported.
Try using a normal mov file and see if the encoder
works.

Flash Encoder with Mogulus

Great enclder and being touted by Mogulus as better then
their own.....it is. Works great, however, problem exists when
trying to go into the Mogulus studio control while it is running
and feeding.
My computer, Vista. Have not tried on XP, however i can't
believe that ver 2.5 isn't vista ready.
Any other Mogulus users having problems?

First the encoder loads, see the web cam, Creative Pro....no
problem. Sends the feed to the mogulus channel, is viewable when
loading the channel.
Problem - when logging into the Mogulus control panel to run
the live show, the panel loads, you see the panel seeing the
camera, trying to load it....it tries to load it....three seconds
later the browser crashes.
Tried pretty much every setting on the encoder to see if that
was the problem...no difference.
The feed goes into the Mogulus server just fine. Mogulus is
pushing the Flash encoder....I can't help but think there is
something going on with Vista, but thought I would post here just
in case it is me.

Flash encoder changes color of movie

When I encode a movie to .flv from a high quality format like
.avi or .mov the flash encoder encodes a flv where the colors are
not the same as the original .avi or .mov, everything else is still
functioning except the color. Whats up? Thanks for your

yes. you could use an xml or text file to furnish colors to
flash.

Flash Encoder problem

Hi all,
I've downloaded a flv file (from youtube) and embedded it via Macromedia Flash Encoder 8. Then I customized it using a skin in Flash. But, when I embed the swf in a web page, the skin is not working. The flv, fla and the skin swf are in the same folder. What shud I do ? Its working inside Flash. Dimensions are exact.

Flash Encoder not Working

Hi,
I have converted using Flash Encoder 8 an MPEG. When it makes
the new flash file, I try to open it with Flash Player 8 but
nothing happens. Flash Player 8 opens but the movie doesn't play.
Any suggestions?

Yes, I was trying to play the .flv directly. I am new to
flash and want to embed this file in a html document so that it
will play when the web page opens. Can you please let me know the

Flash Encoder Auto Restart?

Is it possible to configure the Flash encoder to auto restart
when there is some issue that causes the encoder to stop? And if
this is possible, is it also possible to have it attempt to
auto-restart until the conditions that caused the failure have been
resolved?
My scenario is that the Flash encoder stops and for our live
broadcasting 24/7, we can't have failures like that or have to sit
around watching all the encoders all the time. Basically what we
need is the ability to have the encoder just restart itself using
the same configuration over and over in response to an encoder stop
(for technical reasons, not necessarily that the operator said
"stop")

5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

Then try re-scheduling the auto settings.

How to pragrammatically control Flash Encoder

Hello there,
I need to write a program which receives "START ENCODER",
"STOP ENCODER", "START ARCHIVING", "STOP ARCHIVING" commands from a
socket, here the "ENCODER" means the flash encoder, "ARCHIVING"
means saving the encodings to a file.
I have surfed the web for a while but still the only link
related is "

However the solution in this link is not enough for me. I also
searched the command-line controls of the Flash Media Live Encoder,
and seems it only has command -line controls to start and stop an
encoder. Using these two command-line controls, I can write a C#
program to fulfill "START ENCODER" and "STOP ENCODER" commands, but
have no idea how to fulfill the other two commands "START
ARCHIVING", "STOP ARCHIVING".
ActionScript came to my sight for many times, but seems I
cannot use it to develop the program I want. Flash Media Live
Encoder installs on Windows XP. I think I should use C# (or VB) on
.NET to implement the program.
Any idea about my question? Thanks a lot for your reply in

You can see it has nothing to indicate which encoder to stop.
