Flash file stuck in a "low quality" mode when published to intranet

Hi All,
New to captivate..the issue I am having is that after
publishing to a flash file, I'd like to have others in my firm
review the course prior to it going live in our LMS. However, for
some reason the quality of the movie is very low, although I have
the html script (a little new to that as well) set to have the
quality=best. The worst areas are the caption boxes, the text looks
awful. The rest I can live with, however it makes our work look
horrible to our business partners.
Things I've done:
1) Loaded a Flash-sourced movie to the intranet to see if it
has the same quality issue. It doesn't.
2) Looked at the captivate published movie in the html file
captivate generated- it looks fine there.
Anyone else run across this issue? It seems to be something
with the way captivate publishes the file. Not sure though, I'm not
a programmer by any stretch.
Thanks,
Jason

Welcome to our community, Jason
From what you are describing, I am concluding that you are
perhaps simply sending the .SWF along via E-Mail for review?
If so, you need to know that if you do this, it will scale to
fit whatever the browser size is. And when that happens, the
quality will suffer. Exactly how much suffering occurs depends on
how much things are scaling.
The best approach is to upload the files to a web server or
to a network server. Then provide a link to the HTML page Captivate
created.
Cheers... Rick

  • How to get lower-quality previews when working with Full-HD?

I'm working with Full-HD video, but I don't need preview (rendered) files to be 1920x1080 too. It takes a lot of disk space and a lot of time to render preview files.
Is there a way to have them some lower quality? For example 720x405 resolution would be enough.
But when I want to make a final export, I need to get Full-HD video.
    Thanks!

Use a Custom sequence and change the previews as desired.

  • Low quality corners when printing 3D from PhotoshopCC: How do I keep corners sharp when exporting to

I'm trying to export vector based art (letter outlines imported from Illustrator) to print 3D. Everything looks fine until I print for 3D, then the edges go soft - I get low polly count corners. Is there a way to sharpen these so they maintain their crispness?

    Hi Duane,
Thanks for clarifying the hardware setup. Using the S-video connection from Hi8 to the DV converter is a good workflow. If you are showing a few errant lines at the bottom, that is a by-product of analog tape and please keep in mind that they are likely in the "overscan" area which normally does not show up to the TV viewer, though you see it in the edit software because you see the full overscan image edge-to-edge. So you probably don't have to worry about that, but if it bugs you, you can use the CROP effect to remove, or create a black title overlay to "hide" that stuff. As you said earlier, you can scale the whole picture up, but that is going to soften the image, not good.
As for shrinking the picture - this is only helpful when producing HD content (i.e Blu-ray) and mixing in some SD source material. I see this used on HD documentaries a lot. When they need to show some older SD footage, it is shown "actual size" over some sort of background. By showing the SD clip at actual size, it is not scaled at all and keeps it's quality on the HD display. If making a DVD, which is standard definition, then there is nothing to gain from this practice and it would in fact make things worse because you are reducing the resolution!
For a 75-minute project, I would use CBR 7.0 encoding to MPEG-2 for DVD.

  • Low quality Graphics when using 3G net

Hi. I set up my internet connection from my nokia using bluetooth, it has vadafone network. The problem is that all the graphics looks really low resolution. I asked vodafone if by any chance this is their fault but they told me it shouldnt be like this. Any ideas, please? Thanks.

Why are they saved as picts? I save mine as PNG and they look fine in Keynote. You could also use TIFF or PDF and those should look pretty good too. I think the problem is that other images scale much better than pict does.
If you want to try changing the format, instructions are here.

Two tips, if you JUST need to capture a window (so that you can show JUST the area in the window of the tool you're working on) use appleshift4 to turn the cursor into a cross hair then mark off the area you want captured. Also, appleshift4 and THEN pressing space will turn the cursor into a camera so that you can capture the full window without worrying about missing any edges.

  • Low quality image when adding to iMovie

I have 2 movies that I want to remove some parts, but when adding to iMovie, it changed some video adjustments to a worst quality image.
This 2 movies had already bad image quality from the source, because they have very darkness frames and were filmed in VHS.
But they were reasonable to see, from Apple TV.
Now in iMovie they became worst.
The source is H.264, AAC 1280x720 FPS 23,97
The source is H.264, AAC 1024x576 FPS 23,97
    What can I do ?

    Available ?
    More or less.
And how can I send a sample ?
Depends on the size of the sample and what space is available to you on a server. You can usually send snippets as e-email attachments up to about 10 MBs. If you have a MobileMe account, server space provided by your ISP, or other server space provided by a third-party service, then you can upload larger samples for FTP or webpage use and simply post/send me the URL, reference movie, or QTL.
When the movie goes to iMovie, the brightness decreases and the contrasts became more darkness.
Have you tried playing with the built-in "Video Adjustments" at all? Not the easiest thing to use but you can make some adjustments using it. In such work, "Less is usually best." By this I mean you should apply as little adjustment as you can get away with using.
Normally I would start with a "Level" adjustment. While there is an "Auto" button you can press to get some idea as to what the application says you need for a particular frame or range of frames, this setting can vary drastically depending on the individual frame being tested. So it would usually be a good idea to expand your clip and "test" a number of frame ranges to see what is a "typical" setting for the clip. If the settings are fairly uniform, you can go with the suggested setting or something reasonably close to save "blowing out" highlights. On the other hand, if the settings vary drastically, you my either wish to select an "in-between" setting of your own manually, or split the clip into sub-segments which can then be adjusted individually. NOTE: the auto "Level" adjustment does not affect other settings -- only the clipping points and does not include controls for half or quarter tone adjustments. Still it is my preferred starting point for making adjustments.
You can also try adjust the "Exposure" setting. This will tend to allow you to adjust the "Brightness" and "Contrast" uniformly by centering your color channel histogram but can easily be overdriven. "Brightness" and "Contrast" can, of course, be adjusted individually if you prefer but you may find the "Exposure" control easier to handle where the content is more uniform with regard to shadows and highlights. Lastly, adjustment of any of the previously mentioned controls will usually have some effect on color saturation. While they do not change the actual setting, they do tend to desaturate color as the other controls "lighten" the cast of your frame images. So, don't be surprised if the results "wash out" somewhat and you may need to touch up the saturation. But, once again, go easy as the saturation doe not increase uniformly and tends to "blotch" highlights and/or create color shifts in these areas.
About the only controls left are the individual color channel levels. I don't normally recommend playing with these arbitrarily as they then to shift the color cast/white balance of your content. As to the White balance itself, the "eyedropper" had little or no effect on the content I tested so I assume the it either did not work as described or the sample white/grey points I used for sampling did not require adjustment. As to the Balance Wheel," it does work well but like the color channel adjustments may cause more harm than help most novice users.

  • Flash Catalyst 5--Artboard Error and Code Error When Publishing

I am trying to create an interactive document in FC (imported from Illustrator) for the first time, but I am having two big problems.
    1. When I run my project, quite a big portion of my outside edges are "cropped" off, and I can't see them in the browser.
    2. When I try to publish my project, the first few times it worked fine, and the image wasn't cropped, but the buttons I added didn't work. Now when I try to publish my project, I am getting an error message, saying there is an error in the code. This is really confusing, considering I published the same exact document a few days earlier, and now all of a sudden it wont work. I have since tried publishing different documents, and the same message occurs. All my artwork is rasterized in Illustrator, and my Illustrator file is 3.3 MB.
    Can someone please help?
    Thanks so much!

    Hi Anand,
I understand that you are getting maximum return Code:0152 -tp when you try to import into produciton using CHARM. However, the mentioned return code states that the possible issue is with the Transport tool and route.
I suggest you to check by importing the tp req. using STMS.
Please use the following link to find more info on this.

You can find the information about the same return code in the above link.
    I hope this is helpful.

  • Stuck on Adobe Presenter loading screen when publishing to SCORM.

Publishing SCORM from Presenter only gives me the Adobe Presenter loading screen. I've tried both uploading packages to LMS and just viewing index.htm and viewer.swf in browsers. Any suggestions for how to get past the loading screen?

    Hi There,
Try copying the project slides to a new blank project and try to publish it and see  if you still get the loading screen.

  • Only top left quadrant of AVI DV files shows in High Quality mode

I'm having the same problem as this person:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3396179&#3396179
AVI files that have NTSC DV video in them only show the top left quarter of the image throughout playback when I have checked the "Use the high quality video setting..." option in Player Preferences. This occurs with direct captured footage and footage rendered out of my video editing program. Any solutions? The DV footage looks horrible in low quality mode, and makes it hard to know if your shots are actually rendered correctly, so I'd rather not have to use that.

I am having the same issue, It plays ok on my Mac Pro, but when I play it on my XP pro machine, it only plays in the top left quarter of play window.
Have seen this question in oter threads here, but they remain un-answered. Hope someone can help with this issue, as it is quite annoying!

  • Replacing lower quality files with better files on iTunes Match

I have an iTunes library that is years old so some of the music files are of a lower quality than the files that are now on Match.  Rather than ripping these CDs again to iTunes, is there a way of replaceing the old files with the Match files on iCloud?
    Thanks,
    Larry

    Hi,
If the tracks are match, you can delete the original and download the upgraded version. If the track is uploaded, you will need to rerip your CDs to get better quality.

  • Low quality prints from OSX Yosemite

    Hello ladies and gents,
I bought a new colour laser printer yesterday: the Samsung SL-C460WXpress.
I installed the latest OS X drivers and software which I downloaded from the Samsung website. I did the same thing for my Windows machine.
    The problem:
When I print from my MBPR with OS X Yosemite, I have barely any options. I can't select the print quality, I can't select the type of photo paper, I basically miss every single option necessary to make good photo prints. As a result, the photos come out granular and of low quality.
When I print from my Windows machine, I can setup my print properties. E.G. paper type (thick, photo matte, photo glossy, etc.), print quality (normal, photo, etc.) and what not. When I set the properties to 'photo' the prints come out amazing.
I don't want to send back the printer, just because OS X is lacking in functionality. Is there anything I can do? Or am I stuck with eithre Windows, or changing printer?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Yours,
    Danny

Your initial post was very clear.  My response to you was based on your statement of...
When I print from my MBPR with OS X Yosemite, I have barely any options. I can't select the print quality, I can't select the type of photo paper,
My recommendation of contacting the manufacturer and/or reading the user manual still stands if repairing permissions does not work.  On some printer/scanners not all of the printer options work in Yosemite.  Reason why you need to confirm directly from the manufacturer if the user manual does not state so.
kahjot has already provided you w/repairing permissions instructions.

  • Using episode pro to do flash file

I am using episode pro in compressor to do a flash file, but on the lower third of a name banner with a red lower third, with a name caption on top, the name caption has shifted up and off the red background and now is not in line. ( its mpved the text up 1 cm from where it should be )
any ideas why? the sequence on fcp is all looking correct.
    Daz

Yes it is. I have the HC1's bigger brother the prosumer HVR-A1U and I just received my universal final cut studio yesterday and just played a little, but yes it can. I have the 17" MBP and have both played high def. H.264 quicktime movies on it and have also imported some HDV content and that too plays fine. The only problem I have is that I went with the 7200 RPM drive so that I can edit on the go with just my laptop, but between the system software, and my document from my current machine, I was down to barely any space available. What I'm gonna do now is keep my old machine and the documents on that, and so I can keep the majority of my HDD open for video editing.

  • Lower quality when viewing in Preview

I have this issue on a BP with 10.5.4 and also a G4 with 10.4.11., and that is that images in Preview are not the same as viewed in any other app, which all look the same. I'm not talking about the look of colors or symptoms of having mismatched profiles, because the colors and shades are the same. But there's a subtle, though definite, slightly lower quality look when using Preview. I've been through the limited preference options and nothing makes it right.
It's almost as if there's a very slight noise, or unsharp mask artifact, or resolution mismatch (toggling the "respect DPI doesn't make it disappear) though it doesn't appear it other apps.
    What's the deal? : )
    Thanks.

I'm disappointed that Mail on the mac has not added options to control Marking as Read When Viewing in the Preview Pane. I'm using Mail 3.6 (latest as of July 2009) on 10.5.7, and this is still not supported. I have just finished switching to a new mac from a PowerBook G4 867 which I purchased in 2002, and I moved Entourage v.X (not even 2004 or 2008) app and mailboxes over to my new macbook pro. Then I used Mail 3.6 to Import Mailboxes from Entourage. I also imported contacts to Address Book and calendar items to iCal, etc. Finally I can leave Entourage behind --> Not necessarily.
Entourage v.X and Windows Outlook have had this feature for at least five years. Why has this feature been skipped in Mail all this time?
Previewing a message is not the same as Reading the message. Situation one: I like to use the up/down arrows to scroll quickly through messages, and consider which are the most important. Oops, now they're all marked Read! Situation two: Occasionally I click on the wrong message. Oops - it's marked Read now.
Simplest solution: Provide an on/off control: Mark Previewed Messages as Read - on or off
Richer solution: Provide timer control: Mark Previewed Messages as Read After 'n' seconds: - <n>
At least give us the Simpler boolean solution.
I found several threads on the same topic marked as Answered/Resolved. The workaround of getting rid of the preview pane is a poor workaround compared to what has been requested though it seems to be all we have so far. Admins should close the dangling threads only after posting a note indicating why.
TruePreview was proposed as a solution in one of the threads, but I have not tried that. If others have tried and are happy with it, please let me know.
    Thanks...Alan

  • 9-scaling issue re-exporting from flash file

    Hi,
I seem to have come across a consistent bug which is preventing me from progressing.  I am creating assets in Flash which I am exporting as a swc file to be used in a Flex application.  I have created a simple scrollbar thumb asset which is basically a rounded cornered rectangle and have added 9 slice lines to ensure the curved areas are outside of the scaling area.  I convert the asset to a flex component and export as a swc file.  When I test this asset in a simple swc inspector tool (built by one of the devs on my Flex project) I can manipulate the height and width and the 9-scaling works correctly.  My problem occurs when I close the originating .fla file and close flash, re-open and without making any changes to the flash file re-export as a swc.  When I do this the 9-scaling no longer works!
Has anyone experienced a similar problem? I am running a Mac with CS5 installed, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ed

    Its been resolved. Thanks

  • Placing an image on top of a flash file

Is there a way to keep a image on top of a flash file? When I
place it on top then publish the flash file jumps in front of the
    pic when it plays.
What I am trying to do is place a border around the window. I
can't just shrink the flash file down because this great program
causes errors with the flash content.

There is no way to keep an image on top of a Flash file.
Having said that, we do a couple things to get around that:
1: add the border to the flash file-- when we're creating
swfs for Breeze in Captivate or Flash itself, we add the highlight
    or border there
2: Add the border to a file that rests behind the flash file
and make the flash file fit
It sounds as if you've tried the second, but with no success.
I 've never had a problem resizing swfs that I've imported into ppt
through Breeze Presenter. I sthat the issue you're having?
