Flash file with trancparency as dashboard widget

trancparency only works for pictures on lower layers but not for the
desktop background
the picture "Default.png" behind the flash file is partial visible
but the widget has a 200 x 200 pixel black background,
areas without pictures on lower layers are black
<embed src="a.swf" quality="high" width="200" height="200"
align="right" wmode="transparent"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
#image { position:absolute; top:0px; left:0px; width:200px;
height:200px; z-index:1; }
#flash { position:absolute; top:0px; left:0px; width:200px;
height:200px; z-index:2; }

I would guess that Flash is not respecting the alpha layer in your background. Flash does its own rendering, so it's the likely culprit.
However, you may want to double check with other Dashboard developers. The best places to ask are Apple's own Dashboard listserv (dashboard-dev at lists.apple.com) and the forums at dashboardwidgets.com.
Good luck!

  • How do I get rid of the flashing file with a question mark in it?

I wanted to start clean on my MacBook Pro osx 10.9.4. So I did the command r and erased what I thought was the right one. I restarted my computer and did the command r again and what came up was internet recovery. It can't find my internet because it's WEP and I don't know to change it to wpa. So I restarted my computer again and I didn't do the command r but just let it load itself to see what would happen and all I get is a flashing file with a question mark. I don't know what to do. Someone please help me.

    Do you get this display?
If so, you have to select an Internet connection.  Do not expect quick response time in this mode.  All activities in this mode will be lengthy.
    Ciao.

  • Hi I installed a new hard drive in my Mac mini osx lion an when I turn it on I get a flashing file with a question mark. I tried holding command and R keys when turning it on but the recovery fails to work. Does any one know how I can get it to recover?

Hi I installed a new hard drive in my Mac mini osx lion an when I turn it on I get a flashing file with a question mark. I tried holding command and R keys when turning it on but the recovery fails to work. I can hold the option key at start up and choose my network, then Internet recovery shows up with an arrow pointing up. When I click on the arrow Internet recovery fails and all I get is a globe with a triangle on it with an exclamation mark on it, and under that it says
    apple.com/support
          -6002F
Does any one know how I can fix this without a recovery disc? Thanks

I just want to add to this, in case someone else searches for this error on Apple Support (google doesnt cover apple support.. how clever is that?)
I had the same error. And i had a Computer that had worked, with a SSD drive and 16GB upgrade done by the owner himself.
I tried swapping with a Mechinal Harddrive, no luck.
Kept the Mechanical drive in, and tried with some other Ram, it worked..
So for me this error and after reading the other responses can be boiled down to a Harddrive problem or Ram issue.
    It was Ram for me..

  • Importing flash files (with sound!) can it be done?

    Hi!
I sucessfully importing a flash file but im not sure if the sound has imported with it, does anyone know if I can import a flash file with sounds or do I have to import the sound seperatly?
    Helen

    Helen,
After Effects can import .SWF files but unfortunately it does not recognize the audio in a .SWF file.
If it helps, AE can import .FLV files and it WILL recognize the audio in them.

  • I've got a 15" white macbook which I bought about 2 years ago. It froze the other day and wouldn't respond so I shut it down. When I turn it on now it comes up with a flashing file with a question mark on it. How can I fix it?

I've got a 15" white macbook which I bought about 2 years ago. It froze the other day and wouldn't respond so I shut it down. When I turn it on now it comes up with a flashing file with a question mark on it. How can I fix it? I've tried a few things i've seen online but the futhest ive got is to put the start up disk in when you makes it go to a grey screen with an apple logo and the spinning wheel which then stops spinning. Can anybody help?

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Just press the Return key on your keyboard once.It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left handlist. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

  • How do I save stock footage as flash file with transparent background?

    Hi
I have some stock footage of smoke on a black background (.mov format) that I would like to convert to a flash file with a transparent background, which I will be overlaying over a PNG image on a webpage.
I have managed to remove the black background in After Effects using a plugin called UnMult, but when I try to render as a FLV file in AE, even though I check the option to preserve the alpha channel and encode using the On2 VP6 codec, I still get a black background.
So I am wondering what else to try, whether it be with AE or Flash CS4.  Is there a way of achieving this effect by directly importing the MOV file into Flash CS4 and removing the black background there, or do I have to use AE, and if so, how to achieve the effect I am looking for?
I would be grateful for any help in getting this together
    Thanks
    Nick

You can put the video file in a movie clip and change it's

Flash files with audio sound garbled or high pitched
    Question
Flash files played in the the newest version of the Flash
Player sound garbled or have a high-pitched "chipmunk" sound to
    them.
    Answer
The latest release of the Flash Player (v9.0.115.0 released
on 12/03/07)) causes audio to sound garbled and/or high pitched
like a chipmunk. Our development team is looking into this issue
and working to find a fix.
To avoid this problem, you can roll back your Flash Player to
a previous release. If you have problems installing an older
release of the Flash Player please review this article and contact
    Adobe for further support.
At this time, the problem is limited only to SWF files
produced with the MP3 audio codec. As a workaround, you can produce
your SWF files with the PCM audio codec or use the FLV format
    instead of SWF.

Safe versions security restrictions when installing Flash
    Player
    Issue
If you previously installed a later version of Flash Player
for Internet Explorer, you may be prevented from installing an
earlier version. For example, if you installed Flash Player
9.0.47.0 and attempted to install version 9.0.45.0 the installation
    would fail.
    Reason
This issue is due to registry key settings applied by the
Flash Player security model. The restriction is to prevent users
from downgrading Flash Player minor versions. The minor version of
Flash Player is the third set of numbers in the version name. For
example, the minor version for Flash Player 9.0.47.0 would be 47.
If Flash Player 9.0.47.0 was installed and you attempted to install
9.0.45.0 (minor version 45), the installation would fail.
    Solution
To resolve this, download the uninstaller for Flash Player
from "How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX
    control" (TechNote tn_14157).
    Select Start.
    Select Run.
    Type cmd
In the command window, type the following:
    uninstall_flash_player.exe /clean
This will remove all entries in the system registry and
    resolve this issue.
Note: The uninstall_flash_player.exe file must be saved to
the same directory that the command window is in, for example C:\.

    Hi,
I doubt it's Safari that's changing the settings:
    Why does this happen?
Some third-party audio applications may change your computer's audio output setting. In fact, if you use the third-party application again after applying the above solution, the issue might occur again.
No sound from some applications, but system alert sounds play (Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4)

  • Flash files with right click imported in dreamweaver files

Flash files created with Captivate which contain rightclick
functionality are imported to html files created in Dreamweaver. In
other words, I don't use the html created by Captivate but another
html file to build up a whole course. But now a couple of those
flash files contain a right click and obviously I have to adjust

Thanks for any advice on this!!!

I hope there is one person out there who can help me with
    this issue.
I have started from scratch and created a blank html with
dreamweaver and inserted the flash file (with right click
    animation) created with Captivate.
Then I made the adjustments as per Heinz and also included a
ID=Captivate1 as the RightClick.js refers to that.
The main difference between this html file and the html file
created with Captivate, is that the Captivate one also has
    writedocument bit.
Anyway, is there anybody in the world who can give me
    atip/hint/suggestion?????

  • How to control adobe flash files with sliders and buttons

    Hi,
I am trying to make a front panel for a vehicle completely designed in flash, and control it through labview.  I can load a flash file into an activex container successfully.  I have followed this thread here http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=351719  and gotten everything working.
But my question is, how can I send data to the flash file from labview?  Some examples of things I need to do:  Interpret a CAN signal and have some text appear on the screen, Make buttons flash, etc.
I understand how to load the swf, Im just not sure how to communicate with it.  One thing to mention is that the front panel for the vehicle will be fully custom coded.  However in the meantime, I am trying to figure out how to control it from labview.  Like if there is a clock.swf out on the net, how can I change the time from labview?  Is there a way to see what parameters are available for changing?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
What specific Active X framework are you using to embed the container? The thread you referenced mentions Shockwave's Active X API, does this set of Active X functions expose methods for object control?
Could you elaborate as to the driver behind a fully Flash based front panel embedded within LabVIEW? Is this application inevitably going to be deployed as thin client software?
For interaction with custom flash applications aside from Active X, LabVIEW has an integrated Web Services feature to allow data transfer from custom thin client applications to the LabVIEW environment for processing and instrument control. A detailed discussion of the Web Services feature may be found via the links below:

  • Computer won't turn on... just shows a flashing file with a question mark

Hi, I hope someone may be able to help me with my laptop. I had downloaded some TV shows off of iTunes and was watching one of them. My computer froze. I forced it to turn off, and tried to restart it. However, it won't turn on! I just get a grey screen with a flashing file that has a question mark in it. It then turns itself off a few minutes later.
I have tried taking out the battery, restarting etc.... Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated. We live in the Caribbean so I can't take it to an Apple store.

Hi. I have the same issue as the guy you previously helped. I listened to your advice about putting the Install DVD in and now all i get on the screen is the apple with the loading circle under it instead of the flashing folder. It's been loading for 2 hours now so i figure it's not going to work. I have the DVD in there too and i don't know how to get it out either.

  • Save AI file as Flash file with hyperlinks in attributes

I have created a map for class project. added links for websites to text in map. When I export the map as a flash file. All I get is a picture without my hyperlinks working.
Please advise how to save it or what function is required to be set for it to save and allow me to open in internet explorer and connect links.

Not really the right way to do it.
Try exporting as .html file. It's still not the best way, but it should
    bring your links with it.
Flash uses a completely different kind of linking than .html and Illustrator
    doesn't export it well.

  • Can HTML Help render a flash file with all bells and whistles?

I use Captivate to generate a .swf file, and inserted that .swf  into my RH8 project and generated HTML Help.
When I look at the .CHM file, the flash plays, but not ideally.
    a) It plays immediately when the topic is opened, and there's no way to re-start it except to close and re-open the topic.
    b) There are no stop/start/pause buttons on the flash video. Could I have added those in Captivate?
Is the .CHM-player capable of flash videos with controls?
    What did I miss?
    Thx.

    Hi Bruce
Ugh, from what you are describing, you are going at things all perfectly from the "Adobe approved and recommended" way of operating, but it's a method I don't personally use or recommend. Please tell me if I'm right with my assumption here.
I'm assuming (based on what you have stated) that you didn't launch Captivate separately, create the demo and publish it, then close Captivate and open RoboHelp HTML and insert what Captivate created. I'm guessing you used the wonderful (cough) integration that exists where you are in the middle of a topic and BAM! It suddenly hits you that a Captivate demo would be PERFECT here. So you cease your chain of thought while editing the topic and from inside RoboHelp you click File > New > Captivate demo and RoboHelp magickally opens Captivate to record the demo. You finish and close and the demo magickally appears inside RoboHelp.
    Did I guess right?
Assuming I did, your case is precisely why I avoid working that way and why I don't recommend it. When you work this way you give up control of many Captivate capabilities and you enter into a realm of frustration.
I recommend using Captivate as the separate application it is. Open it separately. Record and create the Captivate parts separately. Then bring it into RoboHelp once it's reached prime time.
Please advise and we will proceed accordingly with getting you squared.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Ending Flash Files with Actionscript

    Hi there folks,
Unfortunately I'm new to flash so you'll have to forgive this
    question,
    Q) What is the correct script to end a flash file once it
reaches a specific frame (e.g If you want to end a Flash
presentation when it reaches a certain point!?).
If anyone can help with this, it would be much appreciated!!
    :)

What do you mean by "end a flash file"? Do you mean stop? If
    so, a
stop() action may be all you need -- that will stop the
    timeline. Do you
mean quit and close the browser window? If so, you'll be
    stepping outside
the realm of Flash, so you'd have to trigger JavaScript to
    close the window.
