Flash for Web Banners
I am a newbie to Flash. I recently completed a video course
(well 80% of it). However, I realize that I have to actually start
on a project to really apply what I have learned (in other words
that's where the learning really starts through application).
I have to develop a couple of web banners for a client. Is
Flash the best program for this type of advertising?
Thanks
Sabryna
absolutely!!

Using a FLV file in Flash for Web Graphic
Hello thank you for looking in.
I made a FLV file in After effects. 5 seconds long. I would like to convert it (So I think) in Flash so I can park it on my website for some 'eye candy' I was able to import the FLV an After Effects creation exported as an Alpha FLV.
I import it to the stage, have a few options about players when doing so. I used the stand alone Player option when opening my sequence. I prewview it and it works fine using both Browser and Player mode when previewing movie. However, I am unsure how to make that file play or loop forever? I am unsure of exporting it so I can just upload it to my Wordpress site and stuff it in my header so it plays when a browser opens that page. I know that is a tall order to ask. If you could either direct me to a link to the proper steps I would need to learn I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for any direction on this one. I have created a flash poject or two and exported them as swf and have had them work, but I have never used an imported FLV is there any diff? And how come it does not automatically loop without the ACTION ()Stop ?I was able to get my FLV FLASH to Loop, must have been a glich on my end. Closed it and reopened it and it reverted back to a loop. I am still wondering, or I forgot the steps to exporting my work with JS ? I cannot remember where I found that info, nor how I did it. As of now I turn on JS toolbox and my Html export is a white box....I would love to export as no background, or Alpha and have the JScode export so all I need to do is cut and paste into my HTML page and change the upload address or A href " " Steps...Anyone? Thanks
BTW I was able to export my AE file as a SWF however all the cool stuff that made the eye candy was not supported like fill over stroke or 3d when exporting out of AE direct as a SWF with LOOP. FWIW -
Is Edge the best software currently recommended for web banners?
Is Edge the best software for building and publishing a web banner ad?
The banner ad will include a link, some animation and possibly a video clip.Do you actually have any idea how this works? Seems you have not. Sorry, but there is no nice way to say it. You have to research the topic more thoroughly...

Convert FCE HD project into Flash for web?
I would like to use FCE HD to edit/create some footage and then convert it to Flash so anyone on any platform can view it on the web. Is this possible?
As an update, I have located the export->'Item Description' feature which exports a plain text description of the DVD project.
I changed the entry:
<key>DVDStandardVersion</key>
<string>HD</string>
To
<key>DVDStandardVersion</key>
<string>SD</string>
.. now I can open this file with DVD Studio Pro, and I have something similar to my project, but in SD. (I expect some things may be broken by the SD/HD conversion, but those should be quickly ironed out.)

Avi format to flash for web?
hi everyone how are you?
This is my first post and first time. so please help me out
here.
I have got a video edited on Adobe Premiere and i wanted to
put that in flash format so i can have it on my website. I need
help with the conversion.
i was told by someone that if i use Flash CS3 i can import
and then export it.
Flash CS3 is not available from Adobe until 1st July. I
installed Flash 8 and tried to import avi file but it said its not
supported.
I can get real player format from adobe premire 7 pro too.
My questions is which one is better real player type or flash
format? how do i convert to flash?
And what is a flv? compare to swf? how do i go and get a
movie that can be seen in youtube?
I uploaded my avi file of 507mb to youtube but the quality is
bad i cant see the face of anyone.
I hope i can get some help here.
thank you so much for everyone's help.

Bottom line is that Flash Player penetration is very high.
Every browser comes with the
player, maybe not the latest, one or two generations older,
but most of the devices
and browser comes with a flash player by default. Unlike Real
Player.
In regard to incompatibility:
There are many formats of AVI, with different sound
compressions etc... Not all supported
by Flash. Try MOV, WMV, MPEG or perhaps try different AVI
export options.
> And what is a flv? compare to swf? how do i go and get a

FLV is flash's native video file format. It can only run from
within the SWF file, it can't
run alone on a website like MOV files can. You will need to
place the FLV player within SWF
and place that SWF into html document.
> I uploaded my avi file of 507mb to youtube but the

> the face of anyone.
Try different video formats or smaller size. Perhaps due to
very large file size, they apply
very low quality while encoding into FLV so make it as
reasonable for download as possible.
> I hope i can get some help here.
Please try with variety of AVI export options or best just
try another format.
My best results converting videos to FLV so far are when
exporting to DVD MPEG-2 and then
encoding that MPEG-2 using Flash Video Encoder. Quality and
file size very satisfactory.
Do let us know if you have any problems.

Best book for Web Developer learning flash
I've gotten far on my own just using online tutorials and dinking around in Flash on my own but my boss(es) are starting to ask for more complex stuff that I simply can't learn by just piecing together my Flash education.
I know there's many, many books out there that will teach you Flash but can anyone recommend any particular one(s) that are more concentrated in creating Web elements as opposed to game or animation development?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.I hope this link would be helpful for you books For web developer Using Flash by "William Sanders"

Illustrator and Photoshop for creating web banners?
My company for years has worked with print products. We recently started creating web banners. We use Illustrator for the layout for print and Photoshop for the layout of web products. I have artists who dont see the difference between the two. They want to continue to create web banners in Illustrator. Or they want to export the Illustrator file into Photoshop with the layers. But, to export it this way it has to be cmyk. ugghhh. Can somebody please give me valuable reasons on what application is best and why? Thank you very much!
>But, to export it this way it has to be cmyk.
Not true.
Illustrator is "best" for vector. Photoshop is "best" for raster.
I would let your artists work in whatever program they feel they produce the "best" art. You should be able to quickly and easily develop a workflow around their needs. If you cannot, then you have your answer too.

Adobe Flash Islands for Web Dynpro ABAP Data Binding problem
I have downloaded the NetWeaver 7.1 Trial (includes Adobe Flash Islands for Web Dynpro ABAP). I try to create a very simple FlashIslands component running within the Web Dynpro Application, everything looks good. However, all binding to the Flex component is not working. Does anyone know why?
Since it's trial version, I login as BCUSER into NSP system. When I load up the build-in sample, such as Chart Demo, the binding to Flex seems working. I suspect if it has anything to do with package? I could only create my Web Dynpro under the $TMP package, as all the build-in sample are defined in SWDP_DEMO.
Please help.
Alanhi,
Check out this link. It will give you an idea how to integrate Aobe island comp with web dynpro.

Convert mpeg or avi to flash video for Web
Hello,
I wanted to know how can you upload a mpeg, avi, or wmw to a
website and convert it to a flash video file? What software is
involved? What is the easiest method for doing this? Is there a tut
out there or a book that details this method?
Thanks,hi, for your situation, you would expect a video converter software, to convert avi or mpeg to flash video (.flv) for web. You probably know that there are plenty of free video converter out online. like Sothink Free Video Converter which I used for while, and I am sure it supports FLV video conversion. you could have a try.

Optimal FLash export for web ??
I'm trying to export a 2m34s flash for my website, but I keep test exporting clip that play strobbing because they'Re too heavy even if they are much lower size then many Quicktimes I've exported and played fluidly.
What would be the optimal setting for exporting a low res Flash and then a High res Flash 1920x1080 from an uncompressed HD AVI 10-bit with AIFF 24-bit stereo 48 000 ?
Thank you.I've made 4 tests exports:
2 F4V = one scaled half and one scaled 1920x1080.
2 FLV = one scaled 3rd and one same as source which is 1920x1080
all 4 plays badly on my computer even when minimized to less than a fourth of my 19 inches widescreen monitor.
My computer is AMD Athlon x2 6400+, 8 GB RAM Windows Vista, NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500, separated raid 0 drive for video in SATA 2, basically I've edited HD timelines with no problem with this setup...
Here's the exports setting of my 4 tests:
F4V (h264) HIGH res:
VRB 1 pass
fps same as source (29.97)
Field Upper
Profile High
level 4.1
Target Bit rate 9
Max bit rate 12
keyframe distance 30 frames
audio 44.1 stereo AAC 128 kbps
audio quality: High
F4V (h264) low res:
VRB 1 pass
fps same as source (29.97)
Field Upper
Profile High
level 4.1
Target Bit rate 2.5
Max bit rate 3
keyframe distance 30 frames
audio 44.1 stereo AAC 128 kbps
audio quality: High
FLV HIGH res:
On2 VP6
VBR
fps same as source (29.97)
Bit rate 1500 kbps
quality best
undershoot 90
audio 44.1 stereo AAC 128 kbps
FLV low res:
On2 VP6
VBR
fps same as source (29.97)
Bit rate 1000 kbps
quality good
undershoot 90
audio 44.1 stereo AAC 128 kbps

Creating Web Banners in Keynote
In my opinion keynote is the ideal program to create web banners. Easy animations, flash export. What I am looking for is a workaround to create SMALL foil sizes as 235x61pixels.
The smallest size I was able to create was a heighth of 200 pixels.
Has anyone an idea how to build smaller sizes in keynote?
Thanks!!You can create a presentation that's the same ratio, and then embed it in the web page at the size you want. For example, creating a presentation that's 470 x 122 will give you the right ratio. For your embed, you still would enter 235 x 61 though.

Final Express HD 3.5, Live Type 2 rocks for web design!
In the past I made posts about buying Adobe After Effects vs. FCE HD 3.5. Well I bought FCE HD 3.5 and I must say that I am glad and impressed. I can make web banners of any size with photo backgrounds or movies and export them to .flv ( Flash Video ) and or QT. I can export to Flash directly out of Live Type 2. Great product!
Thought I mention the fact since these were questions I had, and came to the forums for. No complaints with the product or install. Now comes the endless creativity to include keying ( green screen ).
Ed
Powerbook 15" Mac OS X (10.4.7) Maxed out!I have Flash 8 Pro installed so it comes up in Quicktime and Live Type 2.
I set the banner sizes in Live Type 2 > Project Properties > Presets > Banner.
Then I custom set the width and height. You also have to reset the settings in quicktime on export. You can do this in the custom settings profile. I have QT Pro so I do not know if regular QT has this feature. You can also set frame rates to match your flash framerate if you have to. Pretty cool.
I'll be messing around this weekend so I will try to get a link up with a QT banner made in Live Type 2. I plan on working with QT more often. The quality is superior to Flash. Just wish Apple had a Studio version of QT so I wouldn't have to buy 3rd party software to do sprites.

.gif preview slow in Save for Web
I am having an issue in Save for Web where the .gif animation preview works very slow and choppy. I am an advertising designer and many times I need to work on animated .gif banners. I am working with Photoshop CS6. When I play the animation in the frame timeline the animation speed works as intended, a little choppy but the timing isn't too bad. However when I go into the Save for Web screen and play the animation it always appears a lot slower and looks choppy. Anything se to 0.0 or No Delay runs as if its set to .1 seconds. Now if I export the file and open it in Chrome the animation speed seems to go back to normal. This wasn't always the case, I tested this 2 or 3 months ago and the animation speed in the export was also slow and choppy but it must have been fixed in one of the updates since then.
My issue is I don't want to have to preview everything in Chrome after I export it, and then possibly have to go back and tweak it then save again, preview again etc. I have never encountered this issue in previous versions on Photoshop or other machines. Ususally my experience has been the opposite, the frame timeline has always been slower, but previewing in Save fro Web has shown a pretty accurate preview.
I also have a HP laptop running Windows 7, photoshop CS6 and I don't encounter this issue at all. It seems that everyones default answer on all of the forums is "different browsers handle .gif animation speeds differently, etc.." but int he past I have saved a .gif on my mac and it was slow and choppy in the Chrome, then I saved the same file on my PC transfered it back to the mac and previewed in Chrome and the animation played quickly and smoothly.
I can't see it being a hardware issue because the machine I am using is farily new. iMac Late 2013/2013, 3.4 Ghz Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024 MB, running OSX 10.8.4 Mountain Lion.
Could it possibly be a setting or preference that needs to be changed? As I stated above it seems that now when I export the animation works fine in the browser the preview is just slow, but I have read that many people are having this issue so hopedully someone will have a solution.I don't use a Mac but the first the first thing I do when I have performance problems with Photoshop on my PC is to do some house cleaning. I reset my Photoshop Preference to a saved copy I made when Photoshop was working well. I Also clean my disk up clearing caches and temp files so the plenty of scratch space. I close all applications and look at the machine CPU utilization. Then try Photoshop to see if it is back to its normal performance.

LIke I said, I sure hope somebody can help me out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The only thing I could think that might be causing this is the fact that I upgraded to Maverick (Apple OSX) about 2.5 weeks ago. But this problem didn't start until about 3 days ago, so surely that's not the issue. Anyway, figured it was worth mentioning.
Please let me know.
Thank you,
Jamie Richards, a fellow Photoshop addictI found the solution (took forever to consolidate all the answers) for OS X 10.9 + Maverick. Finally!
1. Change permissions (as AOTPR says) to your User/Library/Preferences file so that your admin and user (the one you are using) has read + write permissions within the Get Info pane (command+I). You may have to add them with the sign.
2. Delete Adobe save for web 12.0 Prefs & Adobe save for web 13.0 Prefs files within the User/ Library/ Preferences folder. These may be hidden for some people, so when in a finder window, hold Option(alt) and click Go from the main top menu (keep holding Option/Alt) and click Library — the full Preferences folder should open for you.
3. Change the view when in Save for web pane in PS. If you have it in Cover Flow — it won't work. Change it to another view like List or Columns view.
Presto! Works for me on Maverick.
Thank god. It took forever to get this cleared up!!
