Flash fried my mac according to apple store. is flash 11 safe to use?

I have a 6 month old i7 mac book pro. i am a regular user of flash based games and one day i noticed that the mac was extreamly slow in booting and the top right corner of the mac would become VERY hot.
i took it to apple and they found no hardwear problems and reinstalled it. they did however tell me that it was the flash that was cousing the problems and i should not use it.
does anyone else have experience of this and do people know if the so called mac flash 11 is safe to use?

While Flash does eat up CPU resources quite quickly, it isn't dangerous to use. Yes, it will cause your Mac to heat up, but the fans should keep up with the heat and you'll experience a thermal shutdown long before any damage could be caused.
I think that the techs are over-reacting... go ahead and use Flash.

The online Apple store may offer to pre-load a version of CS6 for you, for the cost of the software package plus a few days set-up delay in shipping your Mac to you.

Try a SMC reset, please do it 2-3 times.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Attach the computers power cable.

Trying Mac Pro at Apple Stores

I am very close to buying either a Quad 2.6Ghz Mac Pro or moving to the darkside (PC) for my main java development computer. After much research I think the machine with 2 or 4Gb or ram will perform admirally, but want to try before I buy. What do you think the chances of getting an Apple Store genious to install Eclipse or Netbeans (both FOSS)?
After all, I would never consider buying a 2 grand hifi without trying it with my own music. I understand software install is somewhat different to putting in a c.d. however, eclipse certainly isn't messy, screwing up system config etc, and Apples dont suffer from viruses .... Would it be worth speaking to the store manager (not sure whether this is possible as I haven't managed to speak to anyone via phone so far all day).
By the way, my store would be Birmingham, England.

I'm downloading Kubuntu 7.04. With Parallels or VMware you can run Mac or Windows or Linux, native or in a VM.
I would roll over in my grave if a 2.66GHz 4-core was a laggard. One guy has already pulled his 5150 (2.66) and dropped in a 53xx 2.33 GHz with some video encoding benchmarks.
I use to program (mainframes) but I would think Mac Pro with as much cpu as you can throw in would do wonderful for coding and development. However, trying to educate myself, I also think you might want to be able to dual or triple boot or something, too.

Taking a broken mac into the Apple store?

My intel iMac is only 1.5 months old but has been experiencing the infamous sleep and airport issues. despite all my best efforts and research and updates, i have yet to find a fix for this. i decided this is it and it needs to be looked at by my local apple store. my question is, if i bought this mac at macmall, can i still take it into my apple store to have it looked at. i really don't want to deal with the macmall idiots again, not to mention box back up etc. secondly, assuming i can take my imac back into the store, do i need bring my mouse and keyboard? do i need to bring it back in its original box and do i need to bring the invoice from macmall? sorry im a newb as far as mac repairs go. been a user since 96 and this is the first time anything has needed to be looked at.

You should only need to take in the computer itself. They already have keyboards and mice.
As for warranty, you can take it to any Apple Authorized Service Center for warranty repair. It doesn't matter where you purchased it.
Your serial number is enough for them to see that it is under warranty.
You can take your purchase receipt with you, and it wouldn't hurt. But, it should not be required.
The only time it should matter is if you are beyond 1 year from when the computer was manufactured, but less than 1 year since you purchased it (like if it sat on the shelf for a while). But, most authorized resellers will automatically send the purchase date to Apple when you purchase it. So, ideally that would be accounted for.
But, if you want to see for yourself, you can go to Apple's support site here:

Then, enter your serial number in the box in the lower right (where it says "About Your Support Coverage
") and it will show your warranty status.
You don't need to package it up in all the boxes if you don't want to. But, it wouldn't hurt to protect it while you are transporting it.
