Hi, as part of university project I have designed a website in a similar mould to tilllate.com and fotoparty.co.uk. I managed to find a freeware flash gallery that i have modified and am quite pleased with but stupidly managed to forget that those visiting my site won't be able to get/download their images as you cant right click>save image as. Is their anyway around this?

yes, the filereference class allows users to download items from your server and you can also upload files to your server (and indirectly into flash or also directly into flash depending on whether you're publishing for fp 10 or not).

You don't give a lot of information about your set-up but there are a couple ways to do this.
You can run Open Directory on your OS X Server and bind that to your Active Directory forest. This will allow people to authenticate against your OD using their AD credentials. This will work (it's better/easier in 10.5 than 10.4) but will result in Kerberos ticket which you would need to integrate to your site's permissions. You might be able to use Service ACLs to only allow authenticated users to access a certain site or service and that would take care of the authentication and control for you - but would require a certain amount of server manipulation and ODAD interaction. From the tone of your question I'm guessing this is an answer beyond what you were looking for.
Alternately you should be able to build a website that presents a dialogue and uses LDAP against the AD server. Almost all the examples of this are, of course, using MS specific tools and code like C# and .Net. But even to get this working would certainly programming (using PHP, Java or some other language) to handle the request and answer from the server and this will be beyond anything included in CS4. Depending on your resources maybe you could create the whole website except for the authentication and have someone code that for you. But it would need to be someone not from the MS world because they will probably want to use tools that are Windows specific.
Lastly there is the web specific .htaccess method that you could use without programming, but as you anticipate it will require you to manage the file that has the name/password information in it and will not talk to AD for information. This is the easy and local way to do it because it cuts AD out of the picture, but that puts the burden of maintenance on you.
I guess the answer is yes this is possible, but it is not easy or automatic.

Help...LR3 flash gallery preview not working.

Oddly enough, I had a similar problem with LR3b2, but solved it by allowing lightroom to connect to the internet (saving that setting on the firewall), but now that I've purchased LR3, the flash gallery preview is NOT working.
I've tried the following:
Switching from flash to html
using different flash templates
using different "airtight" options
rebooting the computer
reinstalling/repairing LR3
making sure I have the latest flash installed (I do)
Other things odd with it:
Product registration kept telling me that I was either not connected to the internet (and I am), or that the server is not accessible. Ok, so I try through adobe.com and it says the brand new serial number is already registered. So did it or did it not?
Further, I then tried using the F1 for help, and it said that help was not properly installed.
These problems I had before AND after the different options I tried, deliniated above. Can someone help me figure this out please?
And yes, exporting does work, and it exports fine, but the problem is in the preview.
Did Adobe put out a buggy installer?

UPDATE:
After a lot of rebooting, reinstalling adobe acrobat, flash, lightroom, and a lot of other trouble shooting typical actions, the Flash preview is now working.
The strange thing is, when I load the program, it tells me the catalog is being used by another program, and that I have to use another catalog...some of my settings are erased when I copy/paste the catalog and use the new one, but I don't know which program could be using a lightroom catalog (it's the only LR I have).

Need some help with a flash gallery

Hello everyone :)
I really stuck on my flash gallery, I purchashed it and set
up the xml file and everything works fine, but when I upload it to
my website and I add the flash to a page, it dont show up.
Ive been told that the problem is that the gallery is trying
to load the XML file at this location:

but theres not an XML file there.
I havent got the orignal flash file because im using a
template therefore I can't edit it. Is there any way I could change
where it loads the xml file from??

Yor question is not very clear.
If I understand it right, what you are seeing is because the Preview only shows the first 10 pictures.
If you Save the gallery locally you will see them all.

Adobe web photo gallery - flash gallery 2

I'm using the adobe web photo gallery, flash gallery 2 and I
want to slow down the time it takes for each photo to fade in. I'm
referring to the part that after the image preloader is done and
when the image is transitioning from white into the full image.
I've gone through the code but to no avail. Can someone help me

Most CS3 Web Photo Gallery Templates are flash free. They use straight HTML. Even the ones the change images automatically just use HTML to refresh the page displayed and change the page to the next image. The Photoshop Web Gallery Template can be edited and customized to better suit your needs. Adobe has removed Photoshop's Photo Web Galleries from newer version of Photoshop however the Feature can be installed into the newer Photoshop versions. Adobe added an output module to the Bridge that can create Web Photo Galleries these are mostly Flash based and not easily customized like Photoshop's old Web Photo Gallery templates.
IMO there is nothing wrong with Flash Web Galleries other then mobile tablets and phone do not have flash support. I have yet to see any HTML 5 web gallery with features that match Flash Galleries. I'm not a fan of Flash web sites or Flash games. However there are many Flash web photo galleries that perform well and have great features. I do not particularly want to display my images on small web phones. If you want to see them on a tablet get a windows 8 pro tablet they should have flash support. I put large images in Web Photo galleries fitted for 1600x1200 displays and count on flash to resize them for the users browsers window.
Here is an example of a Flash web photo gallery. It contains 8 or 9 albums some with additional feature enabled. All generated in Photoshop with a custom script. http://www.mouseprints.net/albums/
Resize your browser window see the image sizes change use the menu in the bottom of the browsers window to change album and try full screen support. I only use Flash for Web Photo Galleries. I'm not selling so I do not need IOS and Android support.

Picture Gallery Help!

Hey everybody,
I am new to flash and have three seperate but sort - of
related questions that I was hoping you guys could help me answer!
Question 1. In april, I will be putting on a "website" - its
going to be displayed live via a projector onto a projection
screen. for a small student convention, at this convention are
competitions for the students to enter, the students will be
leaving the competition through to doors (door A and door b) What
they (I) want to do is take a photograph of a student as they leave
their competition, ship the photo over to the computer holding all
the files for the site, and then 10-30 seconds after the picture
was taken I want it to be displayed live on the screen. I have the
camera's set, they automatically take a picture and send them to a
file on a computer hooked up via network. What I need is a gallery
that will display pictures randomly from four sources, - 1) stock
photos taken prior to the convention, 2) Pictures from Door A
3)pictures from Door B and 4) Advertisments created prior to the
convention. The first three sources I want to cycle through about
every 20-30 seconds, preferably with a spiffy transition from one
picture to the next with preference (at least in the case of Door A
and B) given to the newest photos taken. The fourth source (the
advertisments) I want to cycle into the gallery every 7-10 minutes
and stay on screen for 1 - 3 minutes. I can give up source 4 if
nescesary, but I would like to have it. All the pictures/ads will
be the same size.
The gallery doesnt need to be styled on the borders, I need
it to blend and be part of the page, just change images when it
needs to. I will be doing other things at the conference and cannot
baby-sit the flash gallery, is their a way to create the gallery,
and tell it to pull from the sources (call it four folders) and
rotate when needed. I know (but dont know how to make) that the
transitions elements can be set up ahead of time, but what about
the live image aspect?
Question 2 - Similar to the first, but everything will be
done ahead of time - at another point on the page I want to have
banner ads from our sponsors, I just need a gallery to cycle
through the ads at a predetermined time (i.e Ad 1 stays up for 5
minutes, while Ad 2 stays up for 2 minutes, etc)
Question 3 - Not related to the above website, I have another
page I am developing that I think could greatly benefit from the
coolness of flash. This will be a picture gallery for 2 products,
what I am envisioning is a display area for a large picture,
underneath it 2 tracks of thumbnails, click on track 1 and the
display area shows the big pictures of the thumnails in that track,
click on track 2 and it displays the big pictures of that track. It
would also be cool if it had a zoom feature and a move feature. I
know the images can be loaded in with an xml document (I think I
know this) The site will be using a database with lots of products,
I need to be able to make the XML and flash gallery work with the
database so that it can change thumnails and bigpictures according
to the database info - so when you are on product 1, you see
product 1's thumbs and bigpics. Product 2 - etc.... I can make the
XML dynamic, I just need the flash part, and make sure it pulls the
thumbs from an xml file (or other outside source that can be set to
dynamically get the info) This gallery will be styled and embeded
into a product template, and
also can't be babysat or created for each product.
I am not against buying a prebuilt option if someone knows
some good ones, I am also not against building it myself if someone
could give me some guidance as to where to go for tutorials, that
sort of thing.

What OS version are you running on your phone and who is your carrier? This is something that is controlled by the OS and while there is no way to change the number of thumbnails per row, some OSes have clearer thumbnails than others.
You can find your OS version under Options > About. Its the number listed after the v. (e.g. 5.0.0.713).

Bridge Flash Gallery in Firefox- great troubles!

I've noticed a problem in the usability of the Bridge CS4 generated Flash gallery online… in fact, it is so unseeable in Firefox browsers, while it works really fine in Safari and IE!

Image requests from flash gallery are not caching

The image requests that happen from a flash gallery are not getting cached in Safari browser, they get cached properly in IE, Firefox & Chrome.
For Example - Load the following gallery (http://www.monoslideshow.com/demo/) in Safari browser, and monitor the HTTP requests using Charles proxy tool or any other similar tool.
The images are downloaded during the 1st iteration of the gallery, which is expected, but even for the further iterations the images are downloaded from the source, rather than taking from the cache.

Embedding Adobe Lightroom 3 Flash Gallery into Website

Exporting Photo Gallery from LR3 into DWcs5 via Insert>Media>SWF, it imports but is stuck loading. Help?

The images are all resized to max dimension of 800px, so it's not a size>loading issue. I've Put all files, even dependents (as that helped before).

The template that I'm using is a user created one, but basically the Pure White, but shut off rows and columns and turn all the font and everything but the photo borders and the button directions to white. You shouljd end up with nothing but the picture with a border and the buttons below it. Again, it was a lightroom flash gallery. If you look on the website now, I substituted a simpleviewer gallery, so don't use that as a reference anymore. =P What it basically showed up as was the spinning loading circle, but it worked in lightroom fine. Although! It did Not work in Lightroom's Preview in browser. The page opened and remained blank without the loading symbol.
Identity Plate: Off
Picture size: X-L (tried with all sizes, really)
Quality: 80% (have increased and decreased)
Sharpening: Standard (tried low already)
Watermarking: Off
There are 9 images 800px at max point apiece. I'm exporting, not uploading it, to my site root folder in DW for the main page. Then insert>media>swf so on and so forth. =]

Using Flash Gallery from Photoshop in DreamweaverMX

I have created a web photo gallery within Photoshop CS2 using
a third party source which is Flash Gallery 1. This creates a .htm
index page and puts all the elements in appropriate folders
(wherever I tell it to). I am wanting to put this within an
existing web page without it bringing up a new window. Is that
possible? I have tried inserting the .htm and it doesn't work. I
have tried inserting the .swf that it also creates and it doesn't
work. I can view the .swf in the flash viewer and I can look at the
htm page in a browser and they both work fine. I just can't figure
out how to put in into my web page. Can anybody help???

Centering a Flash Gallery made in PS CS3

Hi,
I'm in DW CS3 and I did an automated web gallery (Flash
version) from PS CS3 and put it into DW CS3. You can see the
gallery here:

As you can see, the flash gallery is not quite centered
relative to the table. And believe me, it took me a long time to
get it this close. I'm no coder, much less a CSS expert; I tried
working within the <div> type format, and putting <div
align="center"> into the code. No luck there. And I tried
editing the CSS style from DW's CSS interface (the pencil icon
thing). I found no way of centering it there.
The final method you see here came closer; I selected the
<div> in the design mode and cut and pasted it into a table
and centered it there.
So what have I done wrong so that it is still not centered?
Tables should be a no-brainer.

Wade's got it right.
You need to use the Edit menu... not the Image menu.
One will do the selection, the other does the whole picture.

Flash gallery related question...

I have downloaded the free Flash Gallery/Slide Show which works fine using index.html file. But I would like to add it to my Flash_Website instead of using as seperate html file.
How can I add it to my Flash_Website so that the slide show can be viewed inside my Flash File not in Web Browser using as index.html? Please do help me to solve this problem.

You can use Loader class to achieve this. In your code you will need to load your preview.swf from your Flash_Website.

How to reduce file size in flash gallery and add description

How can i reduce physical filesize of my photo's within the flash web gallery. When i generate the flash gallery it takes the original filesizes to publisch, some jpg files are verry large, not mentioning my raw files.
How can i reduce the filesize? lets say 600x400 at 96 dpi in stead of 6144x4113 at 300 dpi.
Or do i first have to reduce the filesize in a automated script within photoshop?
Also i want to add the description into the flash document.
How can this be done?

Use the Image Processor script.
In Bridge it is: Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor ...
The interface is self-explanatory.

Flash Gallery Issues.

Hey guys,
I have a flash gallery that works all correctly. The only problem I have is when I go to load the site in the same browser for the second time it displays the last image within the gallery for all of the images. I know I need a reload script or something. I just want the flash gallery to load from the beginning just as the site did. I need this fixed really fast, if anyone could please help me I would greatly greatly appreciate it. Images Below Thank you guys so much.

Link to direct File so you can better see what I am meaning. Load the porfolio page, the images show correctly. Click on another link and then back to portfolio, the gallery loads the last image of the gallery over all the other images on the gallery.
