Flash Header/Navigation Reload Issue
I have been researching all day and there are many different solutions, none that are straight forward. I am currently in the process of making a website in Dreamweaver which has a flash header. Problem is the flash header reloads when you go to every page. Is there a simple (I'm a noob) way I can get the flash header to stay open at the top of the website, and the content of each page just change when you go to each page. Thus the flash header and nav buttons do not reload on every page. To review the pages so far; http://www.itrelocation.ca/MiniMe/index.html.
I thank you in advance. More detail concerning the fix is greatly appreciated.
I think frames is the only choice you're gonna have.
I don't know of anything else that allows you to keep one thing loaded while changing other content except Flash itself. So the only other solution I know of would be to create the site entirely in Flash... no issues reloading anything there once the site is loaded.
Wait, there is another approach you could consider, using DHTML. It is a browser dependent approach. If you look at the source code of this page it uses that approach. The content that changes is written into javascript variables in the head section. I made this quite a few years ago for a client, but I haven't heard any complaints about it failing yet...

I'm having an issue with a Flash movie inside an HTML frame
and the frame being reloaded by javascript. I have a DHTML open
window button in the same frame as the reload button. If I hit the
reload button, the Flash movie frame reloads and the Flash movie
goes back to Frame 1, as is expected. If I click on the open window
button, close the window, and click on the reload button, the Flash
movie frame reloads, but the Flash movie goes to Frame 2. Is there
any reason why the Flash movie does not reload to Frame 1?I think frames is the only choice you're gonna have.

HELP! Flash header cutting off, but only on some computers
http://www.omsstrategicadvisors.com/
Our site has been up for approx 9 months and there's been no problem. Now all of a sudden, on SOME computers that were perfectly fine, the flash header is getting cut off. Well, I guess magnified is a better description...
I have not been able to recreate the issue on my screen. All the "guilty" computers have ie8, while I am stubbornly still on ie7, which is why I was thinking ie8 might be the culprit. However my bus. partner has multiple systems running and it looks perfectly fine on ie8, chrome, and firefox. Even problem computers have moments of clarity, for instance it happened on my husband’s pc then I refreshed the images and it corrected itself. Then at the customer site, I opened the url on one of the “offending” computers, it was cut off again until I logged in…then it corrected itself immediately. But when I tried that on the computer I am testing today, it did not work. Then I was checking the Compatibility View Settings within ie8, I unchecked the box regarding Intranets, and it worked. Thinking I’d found something, I went back in and re-checked it, and the problem was back, ok….now I really thought I was getting somewhere. But when I went in again and un-check the box….nothing…still wrong. Over the past 2 days, I’ve updated their Flash Players, made sure all the images were the same size, deleted and re-uploaded the pix and xml files, contacted the skin author, anything I could think of. The author also checked all the CSS and site setting, everything looked in order. Also tried using the Compatibility View feature, setting that site to only be shown in IE 7, it did not work, which makes me think maybe it’s not the browser. I just attempted to back the computer down to an earlier version of Flash Player (9 as opposed to 10.1). Also did not work.
Of course, the client is freaking thinking about the big client that is due to check them out this week. I’ve been searching every support/community forum looking for someone else with this problem…if you have any answers or know of any better places for me to look, please let me know.
Any help is truly appreciated.Hi, I just checked your site and it looked good to me, headers changing nicely and no glitches. The header and the body of the site filled my 19" monitor which I use with my work computer. XP/SP3/IE6 with Flash Player 10.1.82.76. Yes that is IE6:-) In your screen shot, there are extra wide margins(empty space) on the left and the right side. And it blocks the text. That did not appear when I went to the site. However there was extra space on the left and right sides both, but not so much that the entire text could not be seen. On www.bing.com the site comes much closer to the scroll bar.
Your Tech experience is way above my head as I am not into what you do. However I do pretty well at researching so I'll see what I can find that might point you into the right direction.
My only observation is that this happened "all of a sudden". Some kind of change must have happened. Could a user have made a change on the computers that are having this issue? Some Anti-Virus update?
I don't really think it is Flash Player related and for this reason: It is not consistent. Most all of the time some program with certain add ons into the browser, especially Anti-Virus add ons are what affects the Flash Player ActiveX Control that is in the browser. Flash Player is a browser plugin so any add on in the browser is a negative or a positive.
You may want to use the Adobe SEARCH field or the SEARCH at the top for Forums. You would know what key words would work best. The Forum SEARCH may be better to use since it covers all Adobe Product Forums.

Changing Text in flash Header that cannot be located
I've a simple template I purchased with a flash header. There is a top navigation across the top of the header in previewing it. However, no matter how much I try to locate each of the text to change it per button, in the library, all of the buttons have the same name, in this particular, "main page", but NOT the rest of the menu from left to right in preview mode. I've went through every single library item to locate how to simply change the text, that's all for each of the menu items and cannot find the residual text for each button on the top of the preview navigation. In my library there is no navmenu or anything like that. The closest I could find was:
button 2 copy which says 'main page'
button 2 copy 2, which says, 'main page'
button 2 copy 3, which says, 'main page'
button 2 copy 4, which says, 'main page'
button 2 copy 5, which says, 'main page'
button 2 copy 6, which says, 'main page'
button 2 copy 7 which says, 'main page'
So, no where else in the library do I see, in this particular, the text of the residual navigation items which in this case is at the top of the header. This is nuts. I need to change the remaining items in the top navigation, to things like "main page" which already have, then "buying", "selling, "movng" and so forth, but cannot find how to change the current text. So simple, but I can't figure this out. Please help... To see an example of needing to change the top navigation to other names, please see http://www.fanniemaehouse.com .
Thank you.!!How much would you charge for just setting those three links on the left navigation? One will go to an outside li
nk, the other two to other pages inside the website. I'll send you the .fla file if you need.

I am using a flash header for a site I am building in
dreamweaver. How do I keep from reloading the Flash menu on each
page?Murray is mostly right.
Frames would be the easiest. However, a more complex route
would be to use
some actionscript that uses SharedObjects within the Flash
movie.
SharedObjects are like cookies.
To answer the OP, implement an if then statement that looks
for your
SharedObject. If none exists, set the SharedObject after your
menu plays.
If the SharedObject does exist, don't play it but just show
the menu.
Now, that said and guessing what your skill level is, I'd use
a frame

Flash Header: Not Showing in Safari
Not sure if it is isolated to my machine. While my flash
header works in Camino and Firefox, nothing comes up but the grey
background in Safari. There should be my logo and a set of flash
links. Nothing though. All of a sudden it is doing this. Never had
a problem before. The only thing I did was drop a folder called
"support chat" in my main directory, but that should affect any
other pages at all. All the files are contained in that support
chat folder so they should affect the html files in my main
directory.
http://www.thevettergroup.comWell i tried a couple of sites and none of them are showing
flash at all!!! On our intranet setup as well the problem persists.
None of the flash objects load in the browser. Tried on IE but no
luck.
Although if you just load a html page directly in browser
without using the web server, the flash shows fine.
If anyone knows what the issue is then please do post a
reply.
Thanks! -
Interesting Flash Header Problem
When you type my website's url directly into a web browser
and land on the page, the button links (that go to pages within my
site) in my flash header do not work.
However, the flash links will begin to work if you do either
one of these two things:
1. Enter my domain through a direct external link
2. Enter my domain by directly typing in the url. The flash
buttons WON"T initially work, but will begin to work if you
clicking on one of the html-based links that I have at the bottom
of my pages.
The header also uses ActiveX, so I'm wondering if the issue
has something to do with firewalls or antivirus software on
individual machines that are somehow blocking the ActiveX?? But why
would the issue reslove itself once you click on one of the
html-based links at the bottom? Can this be fixed??
HELP!
Thank you!Link?

Mac OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues
Hi,
I have a Mac Powerbook G4 with OS X installed and Adobe CS3.
I've installed a font. The font works in Photoshop and Illustrator
but not in Flash CS3. Why? I've put the font in the Library/Fonts
folder and the User/Fonts folder and it still doesn't show up in
Flash. Apparently this is a problem for a number of people see
another forum here:
MAC
OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues Forum
Please let me know what to do to fix this. I need to be able
to work with the font in all three applications Flash, Photoshop
and Illustrator.Hi davidd61713525,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Unfortunately, it looks like something is wrong with the file system and the installer can't see the root drive to install to. A Google search returns numerous results affecting various products and the recurring theme is that something is wrong with the disk. There are many recommendations from various sources, but nothing definitive.
Here's a similar thread over on the Apple forums:
Broken Installer Permissions | Apple Support Communities
And a similar older one:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1203509
I would try the following options:
Try using the PKG installer. This is used Mac SysAdmins to install Flash Player within their organization and uses a slightly different installer path, which may or may not work.
Some people have had success with disk and permissions repair some have not. You can try running a disk and permissions repair. After the disk and permissions repair is complete, reboot the system and try to install again using either the online installer (get.adobe.com/flashplayer) or the offline installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page in the ‘Still having problems’ section.
If these options do not work, I'd reach out to Apple support to see if they have a suggestion. If you do find a resolution to this, please let me know. I'll be happy to share it with people that encounter the problem in the future.

Flash header in iWeb - Links not working
Here's the situation: I managed to get a flash header to show up on my site by using an HTML Snippet. There are three buttons in this flash file. Each of them open up drop-down menus with links to different pages found on the site.
Currently, when I load up the site in my browser, only the drop-down menus open and do what they're supposed to. The links within those menus do NOT work.
The question: How do I properly create links in Flash so that they'll navigate to the urls I specify? Any help would be greatly appreciated; I'm kinda in a rut until I figure this out. Thanks! The most obvious thing to do is to ask Flash question is the Flash forum :

Java + Safari causes page to 'flash' (i.e. reload even cached images)
Does anyone know if this is able to be corrected or at least why this occurs?
For Safari 4 beta when Java is active my site http://www.theimagecache.com 'flashes' a lot (i.e.reloads even cached images). Whereas with Java disabled this does not happen and the pages load considerably more quickly.
I hadn't noticed this before in Safari 3+... but then again... I usually had Java turned off for security reasons so it may have existed then as well.
But in Firefox 3.1b3, even with Java turned on the pages load very slightly more slowly (i.e. literally only about a fraction of a second more slowly... which is understandable) but they do not 'flash' (i.e. reload cached images).
Any ideas as to if this can be corrected so viewers that have Java on by default and are using Safari do not see all of this flashing and slower loading?
Thanks for any input.
RonThanks Michael for posting.
Yes... this Safari beta may be the problem, because even after the images have been cached often many of the images on a new page (that have already been cached) reload.
Whereas in Firefox 3.1b3 (beta) this does not happen.
Hopefully they'll get this fixed.
Thanks again.
Hope things are going well for you there in Sweden, considering all of the world economic problems. -

onMouseExited: function( e: MouseEvent ):Void {

Please help out resolve this issuse.
Thanks in advanceThe only work around that I found was to rename the image file. Once renaming occurred, the image file when updated was rendered correctly. I have read an earlier bug report that claimed this was fixed. I do not believe it to be so. If anyone has any additional information please present it.

Flash Header Position Displaying Incorrectly in Firefox
Hi,
I'm hoping someone can assist me.
I designed a website in Fireworks CS4, then exported "CSS and Images" and brought it into Dreamweaver CS4. I deleted the header "placeholder" and inserted a Flash SWF header of the same size. Everything is displaying correctly in IE and Chrome (I haven't checked Safari yet), but when I view the site in Firefox, the Flash header is both a few pixels up and a few pixels to the right of where it should be. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks!
MebHi PZ,
Thanks for the reply. Here's a link.
http://nazarproducemarket.com/index.htm
I should add also that I did have to modify the "hspace" for the Flash banner by 3 in order for the site to display correctly in IE and Chrome. Of course, if I remove that, if may be better in Firefox, but then it would be incorrect in other browsers. Plus, this wouldn't seem to explain why the banner is also displaying a few pixels high in Firefox.
I believe I am only using Div tags and no tables, but I am a little new to this, so I may be wrong.
Thanks again,
Meb -

Hi Bentley,
I wanted to tell you that an important link you posted does
not work and says "Sorry, this page is not available".
It is in your post entitled "Locked [ADOBE FYI] : Getting
Support for Flash Player 10 and Issue Tracking post", and is at
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfmforumid=44&catid=184&threadid= 1400586&enterthread=y.
The link that is non-functional is "If you have issues
installing Flash Player 10, first troubleshoot your issues using
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer.
Read the technotes, do some testing.".
I just wanted you to know, since you have gone to all of the
effort of posting it. I apologize for having to start a new thread,
but I was unable to post to your thread, since it is locked and
read-only.
This is the issue I am dealing with myself, and desperately
need help with. :)
Thank you so very much,
KarenHi Bentley,
I just noticed something. The link that I pasted, to your
post, does not work either. I noticed why, however, and it seems to
be why the link in your original page does not work, and why the
link in my post that goes to your post does not work.
It seems to be that if a link has a period after it (i.e., if
it is at the end of a sentence), the period is incorrectly included
in the "real" link. Somehow, whatever mechanism that processes the
post has a mini bug in it.
If you go to the link that is results in "Sorry, this page is
not available", and look up into the browser address bar, you will
see the period there each time.
I just thought that I would point this out, too, so that the
web techs in charge of the workings of the forums could look into
it.
Here is the original link, without a period after it, to your
original page.
