Flash in IE6 and IE7

Hallo,
lately I got some error messages from our customers about two
websites containing flash movies:
http://express.motionet.de/
and
http://demo.aziza.biz/expresstv/
Both are the same pages on different servers (using
progressive download).
But while the second is working fine, the first doesn't
display the movie or the movie preview for some IE 6 or IE 7
browsers. I can view both movies without problems in Firefox AND in
IE 7. But my customers normally use IE and reported this error.
(The movies are normal FLVs, so there should not be a problem
with the movies.)
I already searched this forum for similar problems without
results.

  • Spry Tabbed Panels overwritting popup menu in IE6 and IE7 but display fine in Firefox

I am new to Spry and Dreamweaver CS3 and would appreciate any
help anyone can give. I am having an issue with Spry Tabbed Panels
appearing above a navigation bar pop up menu only in IE6 and IE7.
Everyhting works like expected in FF. I have several product pages
that are exhibiting the same issue. I am not having this issue when
using Spry Accordian. Would someone be able to educate me on what I
can do to fix this problem. One of the product pages that is
    exhibiting this problem is
    Page
    with display issue

The IE browsers implement z-indexing differently than most
browsers ... specifically, IE browsers establish a new z-index
context if you set the position CSS property of an element to
    anything other than static.
What this means is that if you set something to
position:relative ... any z-index values of children inside that
element will be relative to that element.
In your case, you seem to have a position relative on your
div FWTableContainer1966866324. If you set the z-index value to
something like 10, you'll notice that it fixes the problem.

    Hello
I am pretty sure they know about this issue and software companies must not hear what the people say. For me it is logic that they watch what happen on the software market and try to adapt own products as soon as possible.
This issue with IE8 is known and soon or later the updated version will be offered on download page but the question is: when?
I cannot understand why they wait so long time. OK, to fix some issue and testing procedure can take a days but IE8 is not on the market from yesterday.
Lets see how long it will be necessary for AuthenTec to fix this issue.

  • Query Parameter Data Type error betwee IE6 and IE7

    Hello all.
This is a strange one. Using MII v12. When setting parameters for a SQL query from Javascript, the query executes properly on IE7 but generates errors on IE6. The errors are JDBC errors having to do with "Conversion failed when converting datetime from character string." and "Error converting data type varchar to numeric." I don't get any browser errors, only Java errors and NetWeaver log entries.
What is the source of this data typing error?

    Hi, Sparks.
Actually, IE was always an anomaly when it came to proper typing of objects in Javascript, so it let you get away with things that really shouldn't work.
In general, you should use the Number Javascript type for number properties (e.g. setRowCount(), setXAxisMinRange(), etc) and strings for just about everything else.  If I recall, Javascript will handle most of the type conversions to a String property, but not necessarily to a Number property.
You can use the parseInt() and parseFloat() methods to convert from strings to numbers in Javascript.
In general, it's a good practice to be "type aware" in your Javascript code anyway, and this will ensure that it runs in other browsers and future browsers.

  • IE6 and wmode=transparent

    Hi
Im having major problems with wmode=transparent in IE6 and
IE7 and wondered if anybody could help at all?
The transparency works fine but the problem lies that my

transparency is set. If I change to window or opaque everything
    works fine.
    Here is a test link.

  • Flash Player 9 and IE don't play nice

If you have a Flash movie with external calls, it crashes
when you try to navigate to another web page. You will receive an
'Out of Memory' error. This seems to be a problem with the way
Flash Player 9 handles the unload Handler when the web page's
    javascript onUnload event is fired.
I have experiened this with both IE6 and IE7 RC1.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I came accross the same problem.
As of today, the only source I could find that addresses the
    issue is:
    http://blog.deconcept.com/2006/05/18/flash-player-bug-streaming-content-innerhtml-ie/#comm ent-14544
but their solution doesn't appear to be working reliably enough. I
am still getting "Out of Memory at line:56" errors even when I use
    the suggested workaround.
I hope that the next version of the Flash Player will include
    a fix for this.

  • IE6 showing IE7 results

Hi, this is going to sound odd but ...
    Problem Description
I am finding that "after a period" of rendering IE6 and IE7 results simultaneously, that the IE6 Browser window starts to show the IE7 results. Once this starts it always seems to return the IE7 results. Logging out and back in again, seems to fix the issue but this cannot be guaranteed - sometimes it fixes the issue straightaway and sometimes it does not.
    Steps to RecreateURL is http://bbb.rockingdesign.co.nz/
I am running on a MacI am running the main BrowserLab interface
    Expected Results
I have conditional style sheets that will turn the background of the Welcome box red for IE6 and green for IE7.
    Actual Results
Here is a link to an image showing IE6 and IE7 running correctly side by side. IE6 is red and IE7 is green.
    http://sandbox.rockingdesign.co.nz/images/BrowserLab-1.jpg
Here is a link to an image showing IE6 returning the same result as IE7 - both boxes are green. Note right-hand Browser window should be IE6.

    Thanks for looking

    Hi Archna
I have just recreated the problem ...
I logged in and used a Browser Set of IE6, IE7, IE8 and IE9. I entered http://bbb.bargainboatbits.co.nz and hit "refeshed the screens" with 0 delay. I had IE6 and IE7 as a 2up - both pages were shown from the correct browsers. I did not however check IE8 or IE9 windows. View source on the page confirmed the Data Center as <!-- Loaded From: ukprod -->.
I then immediately hit the "refresh the screens" button, still with IE6 and IE7 as a 2 up on the same URL. Now the IE6 window was showing the IE7 results.  View source still shows Data Center as <!-- Loaded From: ukprod -->. I hit refresh again and the same problem occurs again.
Once IE6 starts showing IE7 results I have not been able to make it start showing the correct IE6 results again. Logging out and back in again eventually fixes the issue but not necessarily immediately. The problem persists some times when you log in again.
It is always the IE6 window that shows IE7 results, it never shows results from another browser and none of the other browser windows show IE6 results.
The current URL that is showing incorrect results is https://browserlab.adobe.com/en-us/index.html#state=use;browsers=WXPIE6000%2CWXPIE7000%2CW XPIE8000%2CWXPIE9000;zoom=100;url=http%3A%2F%2Fbbb.rockingdesign.co.nz;view=1
I am using the main Browser Lab URL from New Zealand if that is of any relevance.
    Hope some of this helps.
Do you want my log in details??

  • What's With Flash and IE7 ?

I have noticed a number of posting of Flash and IE7 troubles,
but they are not close enough or succinctly worded enough to suit
me to glom onto their post with my problem, and I noticed that the
ones who have a problem similar to mine are not being answered. So,
I take it that there is definitely a problem with Flash and IE7,
but no one knows the answer and Microsoft has not risen to the
problem of dealing with a problem that affects hundreds of
thousands of users. I have posted the following on a Microsoft
forum, but have received no reponses there as of yet. Hopefully the
Flash gurus here will be able to rise to the occasion more quickly
    than their Microsoft IE counterparts.
If you look at the home page for
    http://www.townofstarprairie.com/
using FireFox or IE 6 (with security settings lowered), you'll
notice a scrolling flash text box at the top, and an exact
duplicate of that text box at the very bottom of the page.
If you use IE 7, the one on top does not show but the one on
the bottom of the page does. These two Flash boxes are identical in
    every way.
I have toyed with my IE 7 settings to the point where IE was
screaming at me that the world was going to come to an end due to
my low security settings, and still the one on top does not show.
What ever could be the problem with this?
Thank you for any help you can provide!

    Nickels55, you are correct....mostly.
One of my acquaintances busted into the weather.com code and
sent me the source. After much trial and error, I found that by
removing the STYLE block completely, I no longer had a problem. I
even tried removing the styles between the STYLE block, but that
didn't work. I had to remove the STYLE tags, too. I tried linking
out to a style page to no avail , btw.
For a while, you can see a bust of this problem at
    http://www.townofstarprairie.elitecyberdesign.com/index.cfm?optionid=5877
What's really weird is that this problem only affects the
Flash code ABOVE the Weather.com widget (you would think it would
affect below, but such is not the case), and only in IE 7.
    Very strange.

  • Adobe flash issues with both IE6 and Firefox

I just installed adobe flash 9 on my win2k computer. When I
try to go to www.yourminis.com I get two different results, in IE6
I start to get a web page, but then IE freezes. In Firefox, I get a
big blue quicktime Q the blinks a bit, then a question mark
superimposes over the Q and nothing else happens.
I also cannot view this page under Firefox in Freespire
Linux, but there, it tells me I don't have a new enough version of
Flash Player, but I downloaded and installed the newest version
available for Linux, and I tried both the normal automatic install
and the manual install (which was a pain in the butt because
Freespire has no admin log in, and you have to do all your copying
of files from a command line using the sudo command...)
Why is this happening? I even have an issue with flash and
the yahoo home page, in IE6 it works fine, but in Firefox, where
you normally see the yahoo logo at the top of the page, instead you
see the big blue Quicktime Q and then the question mark, and the
yahoo logo never comes up (this isn't a big issue, I don't need to
see the animated yahoo logo, but since Firefox is doing the same
thing on www.yourminis as it is with the Yahoo logo animation, I
    thought it might be significant)
I even disabled ALL file types in Quicktime's settings except
Quicktime Movies format, because QT won';t LET me disable that one.
    Still having the same problems.
Oh, and all this is happening under Administrative User, with
full priveledges in Win2k, so don't tell me I need to be admin or
    something like that.

  • Adobe Flash Player vs UAC and IE7 in Vista

I've seen a few people reporting problems with the Flash
install not working under vista, and the fix being running
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil9b.exe.
Unfortunately, this fix didn't fix the problem for me on my
Vista Home Premium laptop. Other users have reported that it only
works if you disable UAC in Vista. I tried this as well, and
wouldn't you know, flash works great. As soon as I enable UAC again
though, I can't use flash in IE7 or some other applications that
rely on it. of course, the workaround is to not use UAC, but that's
not really a fix, so I'm looking for help getting Flash to work in
    IE7 with UAC. Any ideas?

  • Flash 9 will not work on AOL and IE7

    hi
i have searched online and in this forum but cannot solve my
    problem.
the search facility is not working on this forum at the
moment so i will explain my problem.
i week agao i had to have my laptop repaired as the windows
wouldnt boot due to some corrupt files caused i think by a virus
    but not 100% sure.
now i can not get flash 9 to work on my AOL and IE7 browser
although it works on fire fox.i have unistalled and installed time
and time again but i am tearing my hair out now..

OMG I think I just fixed it!
If you have Avast! Anti-virus, open the 'On-acess protection
control' when you right-click the icon, then turn the 'Resident
Protection' to 'normal' instead of 'high'!
Hope this helps at least someone!

  • Hack for IE6 and below needed

    Hi,
my website is http://mysafety.be and although the site displays perfect in Firefox and IE7 and IE8, there is a problem with the display in IE6. The layout has a header, a left column (for a flyout menu) and a main content body to the right of the left column.
The pages are deisgned with fluid design; I use some specific rules for IE7 and IE6 to get the dropdown and flyout menus work. The dropdownmenu is formatted "menu" and the flyout menu is formatted "menu1". The dropdown and flyout menus have each specific rules for IE6.
What happens in IE6 is that the main content body drops to below the left column.
    Following style rules are applied:
    1. the main body style:
    width: 90%
    margin right: 5%
    margin left: 5%
    max-width: 1200px
    min-width: 900px
    2. the left column (menu1) style:
    float: left
    height: 920px
    width: 200px
    3. the main content style:
    height: 900px
    overflow: auto
    padding: 10px
    4. in the main body style (main.css) I also have following specific IE hacks:
    * html #body {margin-top:0px}
    *:first-child+html {margin-top:27px}
    5. the IE6 only style for the left menu specifies no dimensions other then this:
    display: block
    left: 105px
    position: absolute
    top: 0
    width: 105px
There are no IE6 only stylings for the main content, which is why I am puzzled that in IE6 the main content drops below the left column.
    Any clues please?
    Thank you!
    Erik

yes, it is fixed; sorry I did not give an update yet. I will now.
    I discovered several things wrong.
    1. I used a styling for the flyout menu that was not correct; this is the page I got my flyout from: http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/flyout_4level.html and I discovered that I used two stylings (one regular, and one for IE), while the styling included with this menu had the IE instructions included. Conflicts.
    2. I found another error in the positioning of the picture below the ol in the page; IE would read the styling in such a way that the "maincontent" was wider then allowed.
    3. I had two hack lines that assigned values for IE7 on one line, and on the other values for IE6, this last one was incorrect.
So, solved now. Thanks for the follow up, Murray.
    Kind regards,
    Erik

  • Accordion flashing in IE6 --already checked DOCTYPE

I am using a spry accordion with images for the tabs instead
    of text.
It works very well, except I get an annoying flash with IE6
The flash is caused because IE6 displays the uncollapsed menu
structure and then collapses it when the page is finished
    rendering.
If I take out the images the flash goes away.
If you turn off your browser cache and hit refresh, you will
    notice
    the issue.
Any idea how to fix this issue?

    Hi,
I can't tell what version of the Accordion .js you are using
because you removed the version/licensing header at the top of the
    file.
Try upgrading to the latest version of SpryAccordion.js, we
now immediately close the panels when the constructor is called.

  • Gallery Demo and IE7 Z-Index Bug

What is the workaround that corrects the problem in IE7
whereby Spry's Grow function shows enlarged images behind (not on
top) of their adjacent micro thumbs. Thanks in advance.

I'm confused. The example for Spry gallery DOESN'T use an
anchor tag around the thumbnails... In your article and in some
posts, you say that the structure is:
    <div id="thumbnails">
    <div class="thumbnail">
    <a href="image.jpg"><img src="image.jpg"
    /></a>
    </div>
    </div>
However, I downloaded Spry_1_6_1_022408 and copied the
example thumbnails element & content verbatim:
    <div id="thumbnails" spry:region="dsPhotos dsGalleries
    dsGallery">
    <div spry:repeat="dsPhotos"
    onclick="HandleThumbnailClick('{ds_RowID}');"
    onmouseover="GrowThumbnail(this.getElementsByTagName('img')[0],
    '{@thumbwidth}', '{@thumbheight}');"
    onmouseout="ShrinkThumbnail(this.getElementsByTagName('img')[0]);">
    <img id="tn{ds_RowID}" alt="thumbnail for {@thumbpath}"
    src="galleries/{dsGalleries::@base}{dsGallery::thumbnail/@base}{@thumbpath}"
    width="24" height="24" style="left: 0px; right: 0px;" />
    </div>
    <p class="ClearAll"></p>
    </div>
NO ANCHOR TAG. Even if you look in the generated source,
there's no link surrounding the thumbnail image.
So I guess I am unclear as to how to apply your fix? Using
the 1.6.1 version, the sample function code you show doesn't match,
nor does it seem to reflect your modifications...
Any ideas? I managed to track down your post about the bug in
IE 7 (it exists in IE6, too) [the demo link (
    http://mad.sweepingdesign.com/index.html)
goes to a page that says "It works!"]
The actual article can be found here, though the demo link
    shows nothing:
