Flash in internet explorer
Hi everyone. I just wanted to see if anyone has encountered
the same problem I'm having. Basically, I installed an update on my
computer like Microsoft wanted with their automatic updates. But
when I did that, now everytime I open internet explorer and go to a
site with Flash content, it puts a box around the content and says
that I need to click on it first to activate the control. It never
used to do that before and quite frankly it's really annoying and
senseless. Has anyone experienced this same problem and does anyone
have a solution to this? Why did Microsoft do that anyways? and Is
Microsoft aware of this situation and are they planning on coming
out with a patch for it? Thanks everyone.

Yes . .everybody who has latest IE 6 or new IE 7

That is correct. it also does it for any other ActvieX
control
> It never used to do that before
No it didn't.
> and quite frankly it's really annoying and senseless.
Yes .. you can thank EOLAS and the stupid US patent system
for that
> Has anyone experienced this same problem

> and does anyone have a solution to this?
There is a temporary patch from MS that will turn of the new
'feature' for a
short while, but that will not 'fix' the problem permantntly.
This is how
Internet Explorer will be from now on
> Why did Microsoft do that anyways?
So they did not infringe on a patent from a tiny company
called EOLAS who
never had a product but patented a general idea and then
years later decided
to sue Microsoft for having hte same idea in IE and wanted to
charge them an
exhorbitatnt license fee that would have killed IE as a fre
ebrowser etc
> and Is Microsoft aware of this situation
Of course they are. This is the best they can do to keep from
infringing
the patent
> and are they planning on coming out with a patch for it?
It IS the patch and it is how IE will be from now on.
Web developers will have to use different techniques in their
web pages from
now on to avoid the click-to-activate message. See
http://activecontent.blogspot.com
> Thanks everyone.
Next time, please browser or search the forum .. there have
been hundreds
(if not thousands) of posts on this very subject in the last
few weeks. And
you'll find Google a very useful tool .. many thousands of
sites talking
about this issue.

Embeded Flash and Internet Explorer
When try and access a page I have created with internet
explorer composed of html with an embed .swf there is a white box
that one has to click to then access the normal functions of the
.swf. Is there any code to make it so this extra click to access
the embeded flash does not have to happen? It does not happen in
firefox or safari.Oh god .. here we go again .. Obviously someone has been
living under a rock
or on a deserted island for a few months :)
This is due to Microsoft IE changes required to avoid
infringing the
(stupid) EOLAS patent. It applies to all Active-X control
that can interact
with the user.
If you are viewing a web site, you cannot really do anything
to fix it,
except complain to the web master
Here is a link to find information on how to fix your website
to cope with
the Active-X active content changes:

Movies flash problem - Internet Explorer 11 (Windows 8.1 Preview)
Hi.
I've got a problem with a flash content in IE v. 11 on Windows 8.1 preview. I'm unable to watch any movies requires flash (ex. movies on starwars.com or the movie on the Adobe test page) neither on Metro mode nor desktop mode. Hope u'll help me find solution.
Regards,
Simon.
Edit: Ok, nvm. I found out what I have been doing wrong - I had got disabled shockwave add-on in IE options. Thanks anyway.Hi,
Besides that, please also try to reset your Internet Explorer to check if it helps:
1.Close all Internet Explorer windows that are currently open.
2.Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar. Changing your settings will affect both Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer for the desktop.
3.Tap or click the Tools button, and then tap or click Internet options.
4.Tap or Click the Advanced tab, and then tap or click Reset.
5.In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, tap or click Reset.
6.When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, tap or click Close, and then tap or click OK. You'll need to restart your PC for these changes to take effect.

We've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash (latest version). Any ideas?Since you mention Internet Explorer, I assume that you are on Windows.
Try downloading this installer http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe, save it to disk, then close all IE windows and run the downloaded installer.

When I use internet explorer any flash object is surrounded
by a box that says "click a flash button click to activate and use
this control", e.g. if i want to click a flash button i must click
to get rid of the box and then click again to execute the button.
I think this is a security issue with Active X, does anybody
know how to turn off this security block???

Flash and internet explorer warnings
Hello!
I am new to flash so I am really sorry if my question is too stupid for this forum.
I want to include some flash banners or movies on my website but everytime that I load my website with internet explorer i get the yellow bar on the top of the page saying that the active x needs permission to load the page but this does not happen with Firefox.
Does anyone know how to overcome this problem or where can I get a tutorial to learn how to do this?
I have seen that some sites have flash movies, javascript and banners included but dont get any warnings.
I would appreciate any help!
ThanksHello and thanks for your reply mldb88!
It is a problem with internet explorer and I know what I should do when that happens but I am concerned about other people that will visit my website. As you might know there are a lot of people using internet explorer and some of them might get scared with this kind of warnings and I would really like to avoid that.
But like I said on my previous post, I have seen that most websites that have flash and javascript included in the page, I dont get these warnings on internet explorer when i load them and I would like to know if there is some code or something else that I should include on the webpage to avoid this warning which seems to happen only with internet explorer.
Thanks! -
suddenly and for no apparent reason, when i publish my movie
and insert the .swf into a html page using the "insert, media"
command in dreamweaver, when i then upload and try to view the page
in internet explorer 7 i get an empty space where the flash movie
should be. if i hover my curser over the space i get an outline of
the flash rectangle, and a message comes up" click to enter and
activate the control" whats going on? I don't think its anything
i've done in flash - not done anything differently form usual - so
is it some interaction with explorer but why? not had the problem

Probleme de Flash et internet explorer
Bonjour,
double clique.

Adding Flash in Internet Explorer
I'm having a problem adding flash components to a web page.
Whenever I publish the movie, I can go into the generated HTML page
with no problems. When I copy/paste the code into the HTML of my
page, Internet Explorer pops up the "IE Has Restricted this file
from showing active content that could access your computer." I've
played around with the code forever but nothing I do has any
affect. The weird thing is that when I copyed my HTML into the
generated page, it worked.
How do I fix this? Its a known issue with IE 6.0 where it prevents active
content from running
off a local file.. You will get the same error even with
rollovers.. This
error does not show up once the page is hosted onto a web
server and is
called through the internet or an intranet ..
However you can fix it on your local computer...

Question about updating Flash from Internet Explorer.
Why is it when I update Flash Player 10 on a Windows 7 machine that the ActiveX control is updated first then maybe a day or two later I'll get another update to install the Flash plugin? How come they are not updated at the same time? I can download the Flash executible from Safari within Windows and update the plugin manually. Usually I look in Programs and Features and the ActiveX control is the first one updated.
Because the ActiveX and plugin are two different installers.
If you want to download and install them at the same time, download both from

IE9, Windows 7 64bit Flash causes "Internet Explorer has stopped working."
I get this error when I log on to the Sandicor web site. If I log on using ie9 run as administrator it works. If I disable flash it works. It may be part of the conflict with the finger print scanner. I worked with the IE9 team and found that Flash was causing the issue. I have the latest version of flash. I now need to disable flash, log on, reenable flash.

Problem in loading Adobe Flash for Internet Explorer 9 Windows 7 64 bit
Any one can advise what can I do?
Dear benlim18,
IE 9 is a Microsoft product which is under beta test.It is supposed to fix the bugs of IE 8.Thus,if you use it,then it is at your own risk.I guess if you post this concern in the microsoft support forum,I'm pretty sure you will have lots of help available.Search it starting at support.microsoft.com.
Although I work for HP, the above inputs are from my personal judgments and doesn't represent HP inputs or judgements.

Flash works in Explorer, but not in Ignite software
I recently purchased Ignite, a music composition software. It has tutorial videos, but they won't play. I have Flash in Internet Explorer and it works fine. Please help.
Typically applications are embedding instances of Internet Explorer, so if Flash is working normally in IE, it would work in the embedded IE instance. They're probably doing something unique, and you'll need to ask them for advice.

Hello!
Immediately upon updating to Beta 34.0, Silverlight and Flash, completely stopped working in Firefox. I am running Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2.
They work fine in Internet Explorer.
This happens in any website I go to.
For example, I can go to Youtube, and the page will show a black box where the video should be, but there are no play controls, or any way to enable the video. Clicking within the black box does nothing.
On the music play site, Grooveshark, the site does not recognize Flash as being installed at all. (If you don't have Flash installed, this site pops up a message every time. Grooveshark correctly recognizes that Internet Explorer has Flash installed.)
I updated the Flash plugin to the current version, which also did nothing.
I have not reinstalled Firefox, or done a System Restore, yet.
I just bought a new computer that I was going to migrate to, and retire this computer, so I was not going to do heroic efforts to fix this. I was reporting this more on the order of a bug report.
Thanks.
KarlThis happened to me as well with Windows 7 32 bit (which I did as as upgrade from Vista Home Premium - if that might foul things up a bit) and affects Firefox 34.1 and IE. I did a system restore which took me back to Firefox 33 and Flash was fine. Later in the day Firefox updated back to 34.1 and I lost Flash again.
