Flash Installs...but doesn't!

I can't see videos on such sites as YouTube, TMZ ect. I just
get "You need Flash Player version 8 or higher to view this video".
I download (repeatedly) the latest version. I delete Flash
and then reload Flash. Nothing. Same thing.
Even in the Adobe web site, whin I get the "Adobe Flash
Player successfully installed" video message, I immediately go to
another part of the site, and it tells me that I need Flash to view
that content! Urgh! Help!

Ditto here! One little twist ... from Adobe's website I
install the latest and greatest Flash and get the Flash ball icon
with the scrolling color bar. After a few seconds, the screen
flashes and it looks as though the install process is taking place
again. I then get the infamous " displayed and I'm back to square
1!

  • Flash installs but not recognized

Flash player successfully downloads and installs but websites subsequently clicked state that Flash Player is not installed. Websites are reputable such as CNN. IE states that Flash is installed and Enabled.  Windows 7, IE recent versions, Flash 15.  I have reviewed and attempted Adobe's proposed solutions.

  • Creative Cloud Update downloads, installs but doesn't work?

Every time I launch my computer (Mac, latest OS), I see there are 9 updates available to download for Adobe CC. Every time I update a single app or everything, it downloads, installs but nothing is actually done. When I get info on apps. everything still shows as 12.0 as if it has not been updated. When I restart the computer again, i get the message that there are still 9 updates available to download. This is an endless cycle and no matter how many times I "Update All", it will continue to download, install but nothing actually gets updated.
I've fixed disk permissions, deleted preferences and allowed read/write access to all the Adobe folders and it's still not working.
    Thanks.

    Hi Motionlab_AU,
Please navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ AAMUpdater/1.0 and rename to 1.0.old. Launch CC desktop and try updating again. (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html)

  • Serial number installs, but doesn't register

Just purchased CS6 today from an online merchant. Downloaded CS6, used the serial number they provided, and it installed properly.
Went to adobe.com to register with my Adobe ID, and get that it is in invalid serial number. Chat with Adobe support, they say it is a volume serial number, and can't be registered to my Adobe ID.
Chat with the online merchant, and they say it is issued through Adobe's TLP (transactional licensing program), and is a valid, registered serial number.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Part of my concern is with the upcoming Lightroom/Photoshop CC offer, I'm probably going to need to prove to Adobe that I own Photoshop CS6, and I'm not sure how I am going to do that. Thanks.

I talked to two tiers of Adobe support, second tier said they couldn't do anything, but also couldn't tell me if it was a legal license or not.
Response from the vendor was they are using Adobe's TLP, and issuing legal licenses.
Adobe shop is still selling PS CS6 at full retail.
Really feels like Adobe direct sales, indirect sales, licensing, support and web registration aren't talking to each other, and there isn't a common set of rules across them.
You're right, I'll probably have to wait until the LR/PS deal goes live Tuesday, and use that to get some resolution from all the parties. But doesn't leave a very good customer experience. (Actually, didn't mention the infinite loop on the web page from trying to do "Complete/Update Adobe ID", the fact that Adobe's download page doesn't work with IE, or that the requested email to [email protected] got an "out of office" auto response.)

  • No error occurs during Flash installation, but it still doesn't work

I have installed the latest version of Flash using the installer on the Adobe website and no errors occur during installation.  However, when installation is complete, I still can't use websites that require Flash (I am prompted to go install Flash).  Even the troubleshooter on the Adobe site says that I don't have Flash installed when I check it in the first step.  I am running Windows 7 (64-bit) and Internet Explorer 11 (I downloaded and tried Firefox and got the same results).  Please help.  Thanks.

    "User-Agent Strings"
That doesn't mean a lot, I'm sure, but it's the root of your problems, and Flash Player has nothing to do with it.
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.
The problem with an unidentified browser is that the plug-ins in that browser aren't recognized either, so even though you're up to date, it says you need the latest Flash Player when you use IE11. YouTube... has converted to HTML5 video so if it doesn't detect Flash Player, it can display HTML5 (MP4) video which requires no plug-in to play. Facebook can't do that, because HTML5 doesn't apply to games... only video.
Microsoft has no plans to "fix" the mess thay've created because they think it's a great idea to block you out of the websites you visit.
They recommend using "Compatibility View" and pretending that you're using an older verison of IE... Problem with that is that it's seen limited success, and you have to enable it for EVERY page that has problems... individually.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Flash sort of installs but doesn't work

It seems to install it shows the ocx file in my flash folder
and the plugin in the browser but will not open flash movies or
flash content.. I know for a fact it's my flash because no flash
items will show up, the test page also is a no show. I have tried
version 7, 8, and 9 and neither work for me. I'm using IE6 because
7 didn't work for me when clicking on links in my Outlook Express,
which I also tried microsoft newsgroups with no help. I also did
various of suggested fixes they sent me.
I have turned off (disabled) what plugins I had running and
tried running IE for several hours, used the uninstaller for flash
and tried to download again and still nothing. Does anyone else
have any suggestions? This is really upsetting me because I can't
login to some forums I'm in.

Try searching your registry for Flash9.ocx to make sure it
    registered right.
    Check for:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{1171A62F-05D2-11D1-83FC-00A0C9089C5A}\InprocServer32
    (Default) C:\WINDOWS\system32\macromed\flash\
    Flash9.ocx
    ThreadingModel Apartment
If yours says Flash7.ocx or some other number, the installer
    didn't update your registry properly.

  • Flash Player Installs but doesn't work WIN 7

It doesn't ever appear to be loaded when I look for it. Why in the world would it say that it has loaded and installed when it doesn't??
Look folks, I'm literally losing my mind here. I'm IRATE.
If you think you've seen this problem before, GUESS AGAIN. I have tried EVERY single suggestion that's on this website as well as others and NONE of it has worked. I keep seeing folks say that you have to have the 32 bit IE instead of the 64 bit. It says to check to make sure...when I look in About IE, it says 256 bit. What does that mean?? It says NOTHING about 32 bit OR 64 bit...WHICH ONE DO I HAVE??? No clarity on this site WHATSOEVER.
I've tried the uninstaller...putting it on my desktop...yadda, yadda. Restarted my comp around 20 times...nothing.
Seriously....the internet and, by extension, my computer are useless if I can't use flash. No videos, games, or anything other than text and pics. I'm 22, I'm not computer illiterate. Actually, until this...I've never had problems with computers and I've always thought of myself as fairly knowledgeable.
All I really want to do is talk to a person...but I don't want to pay $40. Someone please help me.

Hi, Please take a deep breath:-) Now I'll have questions that need answered so I can help restore your sanity/computer.
We'll just take it one step at a time.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash   Open Flash and post back all files listed. You didn't indicate any browser other than IE8, but if you see any NPSWF files then right click on each. Then click on Properties to obtain the version numbers.
With Windows, the default browser is the 32bit browser. You would know whether your Operating System is a 64bit or not, but we'll know after you check those files in the Flash folder. A 64bit OS will have a 64bit browser and a 32bit browser, but since Flash Player needs the 32bit browser, then you have that. If you tried using a 64bit browser(if you had a 64bit OS), you'd receive a message directing you to read about the Flash Player & the 64bit OS. Hope that explains the difference.
After the above, Using IE, go to Tools, Manage addons and under "Show"(very light text) look in all addons for Shockwave Flash Object. Is it Installed and Enabled?
Then go here and test: As soon as the site opens you should see the Flash logo animate and the version of Flash Player you have will be displayed. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Let me know on the above. (you'll be glad to know that I won't bill you $40.00:-)

  • Adobe flash player installs but doesn't play

I have installed (uninstalled-reinstalled) AFP. The set up
screen says that it installed correctle, the little flassh played
demo plays, but when I go to a site that requires the use of AFP,
it says that I need to install the player. I have followed Adobes
suggestion of checking IE settings but still the same issue. Any
    suggestions?

I'm having the same problem & have spent far too much
time trying to figure this out. Help

  • Installs but doesn't detect

I have installed Flash Player 9. It works so long as the
website I visit doesn't attempt to detect whether it is installed
    or not.
Unfortunately, most websites try to detect if the visitor has
Flash installed before showing the flash movie. In this case, the
website always tells me that I don't have flash, and then redirects
me to the Macromedia download page. This then tells me that I
already have Flash Player installed. And so the cycle continues.
I have run the removal tool to remove flash, then reinstalled
    it. No joy.
I have run the repair tool, but I get this error message -
    DllRegisterServer in
    c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash9b.ocx failed.
    Return code was: 0x80070005
My security settings are all as should be - besides that's
not the issue, because I have installed the player, and it will
work fine on some sites eg
    Thomas
the Tank Engine which don't use Flash detection scripts.
It's just the websites that do Flash detection that are the
problem, because they ALWAYS tell me I don't have Flash.
    What can I do?
    I have XP Pro SP2 with IE6.

Your issue has been discussed many times on this and other
forums and suffice it to say that it has become a sensitive topic
to many. At the risk of opening a can of worms, I will offer some
    advice.
The activeX control (flash9b.ocx) is not getting registered
correctly, hence some Flash detection schemes will fail. There can
    be any of a number of causes for this - too many to discuss here;
here are some steps I have found that can overcome a number of
    potential causes.
First, carefully remove all traces of Flash Player:
Get the newest version of the Flash Uninstaller (as of
    11/14/2006) from this Tech Note:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
and run it as instructed in the tech note. Do not use any existing
Uninstaller you may have on your computer now.
Unfortunately, failed installs of Player seem to leave
remnants that the Uninstall program may not clean. So, some manual
    remediation can be needed:
Go to the folder "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash" and
delete all the files in this folder (leave the folder).
Go to the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files" and if
you find "Shockwave Flash Object", delete it. It should not appear,
as it will only show if you have correctly registered the ActiveX
control (in which case you would likely not be having these
    problems).
Just for grins, open the Control Panel, Add or Remove
Programs and look for any instances of Flash Player that may still
show. Hopefully, there will be none.
    Now, go to “
    http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/”
and insure that it does not show Flash Player version installed.
At this point, you should not have any “old
stuff” to cause problems with the Flash Player 9 install. You
will also have removed any plug-ins for Firefox, Netscape, and etc.
so you will also need to open these browsers and re-install Flash
Player 9 from the Adobe site.
Now, try to reinstall from the Adobe site.
To be safest, reboot your computer into "Safe Mode with
Networking". This will insure that you don't have any programs
running that might use Flash and that none of your security
    programs will interfere. See
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222
if you need to know how to do this.
Alternatively, deactivate any Internet security programs
(especially Norton Internet Utilities) and exit any programs in
your Windows System tray. See this Adobe Tech Note:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_19166.
Now open IE and open the Adobe.com home page and click on the
    link to install Flash Player.
If you see the Flash movie indicating a successful
installation and get no error messages, then you are likely in good
condition. If you get error messages, then these are symptoms that
you may have more serious windows registry problems or a corrupted
    IE installation.

  • JDK 1.4 installs but doesn't work in XP

I downloaded the new JDK 1.4 and installed it, but it doesn't work. No application that requires Java works... none of them can find the JVM or the reference to the JRE.
I use to have only the JRE running here and everything was fine, but I want to install Together5, so I removed the JRE to install the full JDK.
And now nothing works... no ENVIRONMENT VARs were set.

    Hello cdechery,
When you say: "No application that requires Java works" do you mean that you cannot compile your programs?
What happens if you enter java -version in a DOS command window? Do you get information about the current version or do you get an error message.
I suspect that you get information about the current version. If not, set your PATH environmental variable. See the installation instructions for Windows/XP for details on setting your PATH environmental variable.
The more common problem is that you need to set the CLASSPATH environmental variable to point to your own .class and .jar files (but not the system .class and .jar files).
Use a command line similar to: java -cp .;c:\dev\classes\myapp.jar  myapp to run your application.
What was your previous version of the JRE?

  • Flashplayer plugin installs but doesn't seem to run. Windows 7 X 64 - Firefox 28 - Flashplayer 13

Due to a power problem I had to reinstall Windows 7 X 64 so this is a clean install only a few days old. I installed Firefox 28 as administrator and recovered my bookmarks from the mirrored disk which had undamaged files but a non-repairable operating system. I installed several plugins which had heretofore worked properly including the Flash-player plugin. This is the file name of the install script I downloaded from the Adobe download site: install_flashplayer13x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe. That tells me it is the 32 bit version so it should be the right one.
Everything works but the Flash-player. All the plugins had been installed as administrator. No glitches or anything unusual happened during the install. Everything seemed to work OK until I visited YouTube and it told me I needed to install Flash-player. Facebook doesn't like my Firefox browser for the same reason.
I have gone through the forums and the install procedures (removed Firefox completely from the system & re-installed it according to the instructions) and have no solution so far. It had been working before the power problems caused the operating system crash but I do not remember the Firefox version or the Flash-player versions I had been using.
Any help you can give would be appreciated. I am missing something but so far haven't discovered what it is.
    Thanks...

  • Mac OS X Flash installs, but plug-in still not found

I've uninstalled the older flash (which wasn't working on several sites) and downloaded Flash 10.1. It downloads and seems to install fine - I get the message saying "installation complete" but I still get error messages on the sites that use it saying the plug in is missing. I also tried the Adobe test page and it says the plug in is not found.

    Hi folks,
I have the same problem on my iMac. I downloaded and installed the program. Nothing (visible) happens....I also read the answer: to restart the computer...but the Flash-10 player is still invisible on my iMac, and the (hidden?) app. does not work. By the way, in my opinion, it' s odd that I don't see the Flash.app in my program files!?! What is the problem with all that ? Has anyone the ultimate solution? Thanks in advance!

  • Update Camera RAW in PSE 8 for Mac installs but doesn't function

I've researched the forums and tried reinstall of PSE 8 and downloading the camera RAW updates. both 5.7 and 6.1. After looking at the various proposed solutions I can't seem to find the exact answer I'm seeking.
The Camera RAW update installation completes properly but still won't open my Olympus EPL-1 RAW (.ORF) files.
The Camera RAW Plug In info still says version 5.5.0.97
I can view the .ORF files in Bridge, modify them and save as .dng, then open them in PSE 8.
I'm new at this but assumed I would be able to open the .ORF files in PSE 8 without all the conversion. Did I miss something?

You can't install ACR in PSE via the Adobe updater. It's lying to you. You need to go here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Macintosh
download the latest update and follow the instructions in the readme exactly. You need to remove the old plugin from the folder before putting the new one in there.
