Flash issue with ALSA (snd_pcsp)

If I use the snd_pcsp module, the browser freezes completely when running a flash video with sound. I disabled the module and flash videos work fine, however now I don't receive any sound anywhere.
Current modules:
MODULES=(!snd_pcsp snd_hda_intel acpi_cpufreq cpufreq_ondemand thinkpad_acpi)
Audio device:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)
All of those modules are loaded manually though, as the new (beta) ISO didn't autodetect any modules..

I don't have pulse installed. Here's a list of modules:
mateusz@saturn ~ $ lsmod | grep oss
snd_seq_oss            36320  0
snd_seq_midi_event      8640  1 snd_seq_oss
snd_seq                64768  5 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event
snd_pcm_oss            47360  0
snd_mixer_oss          21024  1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm                91784  3 snd_pcm_oss,snd_oxygen_lib
snd_seq_device          8372  4 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_rawmidi
snd                    77224  13 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_virtuoso,snd_oxygen_lib,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_mpu401_uart,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device
I've tried running a browser with aoss, but the effect was the same.

  • Adobe flash issues with both IE6 and Firefox

I just installed adobe flash 9 on my win2k computer. When I
try to go to www.yourminis.com I get two different results, in IE6
I start to get a web page, but then IE freezes. In Firefox, I get a
big blue quicktime Q the blinks a bit, then a question mark
superimposes over the Q and nothing else happens.
I also cannot view this page under Firefox in Freespire
Linux, but there, it tells me I don't have a new enough version of
Flash Player, but I downloaded and installed the newest version
available for Linux, and I tried both the normal automatic install
and the manual install (which was a pain in the butt because
Freespire has no admin log in, and you have to do all your copying
of files from a command line using the sudo command...)
Why is this happening? I even have an issue with flash and
the yahoo home page, in IE6 it works fine, but in Firefox, where
you normally see the yahoo logo at the top of the page, instead you
see the big blue Quicktime Q and then the question mark, and the
yahoo logo never comes up (this isn't a big issue, I don't need to
see the animated yahoo logo, but since Firefox is doing the same
thing on www.yourminis as it is with the Yahoo logo animation, I
    thought it might be significant)
I even disabled ALL file types in Quicktime's settings except
Quicktime Movies format, because QT won';t LET me disable that one.
    Still having the same problems.
Oh, and all this is happening under Administrative User, with
full priveledges in Win2k, so don't tell me I need to be admin or
    something like that.

  • Stage3D and Flash issues with Chrome

I was playing The Last Stand Dead Zone earlier with all of the settings i nthe flash game set to max and now I HAVE to play it on the lowest setting. Also my Nvidia 765m is apparantly now supported by Stage3D or whatever it is. I really have no idea what to do. This page also has the wrong info about my operating system http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-games-video-or.html it says that mine is 32-bit when it is 64-bit http://puu.sh/6derE.png I want to play my game and I am very pissed at the moment because I cannot.

    More issues with Chrome.
All of a sudden one day I noticed two problem:
I cannot login to SCN via Chrome.
    SCN search does not funciton.
If I click on any regular SCN link from e.g. an email notification, the screen gets stuck with a blank screen in authentication mode.
Similarly, if I enter a search term in SCN search, I get a blank screen.
Also, if I click "Login" in the masthead, the screen gets stuck looking like this:
I've cleared cached, reinstalled the browser, and ensured I'm using the proper certificate by eliminating all but the one certificate.
    Any suggestions?

  • Reason for Flash issues with 10.2 update

I think I am beginning to understand the Flash issue. Because I have several Mac's and have only had one develop a issue with the new Flash 10.2 update. My feeling is that the one Mac a White Macbook with Intel graphics is the only one having the issue. While my other Mac's a Macbook Air, and two Mac Mini's with the Nvidia 9400M graphics and the Air's Nvidia 320M are not. Leads me to believe that somehow the hardware acceleration in the Flash that puts more use of the graphics chip rather then the CPU may be the cause. It may not work as well with the Intel graphics. The Flash official requirements is 128Mb of VRAM for it to work. I would say the older Intel chips may be causing a problem. Now why it works in 32 Bit mode with Safari is a bit of a mystery. A quick fix seems to be to enable Safari to run in 32 Bit or to use Google's Chrome browser which has built in Flash.

mmm.. please see the thread "Flash 10.2 choppy in fullscreen." I have plenty of VRAM here 288MB to be precise. 32bit or more RAM is not the solution as neither it is to turn the automatic switch in energy preferences. Clearly everything works well with version 10.1, problems just happen when you upgrade to version 10.2 and 10.3(beta).

  • Issue with ALSA softvol and reloading sound card module

I'm using a Chaintech AV710 card with the snd_ice1724 module as a driver. The core issue is that sometimes when this module is loaded during startup (or every time after a suspend), it will play nothing but very loud static. To fix this, I simply reload the module. This fix worked fine for me while I used pulseaudio: I would just kill pulse, reload the module, and start pulse after every suspend. Now, however, I'm using a system that involves an ALSA softvol plugin. The softvol device is being used by JACK: jackd -d alsa -d softvol. When I reload the module using this setup, the softvol control I set up becomes locked at 100%. amixer reports "Invalid command!" for sset Master2 10%. The audio will still play, but I can't figure out any way to reset it to make this control work again short of renaming the control, restarting jack, renaming the control back to the original name, then restarting jack again. Any help alleviating this issue on any of these fronts would be appreciated. Relevant asound.conf sections:

  • FLASH ISSUE WITH MY SITE! PLEASE HELP!

I've uploaded a test site to see how it would look and it seems there is a problem with line spacing or something??!! Flash is not my strong point so I would love some help PLEASE!!! When I view the site running off my laptop (offline) it runs fine, everything is in order. Yet online the spacing issue occurs. Its a problem because the site is fitted into a rectangle type layout that is centered in the screen, because of the spacing issue the text rolls down past the border of the rectangle and even goes out of view towards the bottom of the browser. The flash site pulls the info for the gallery and text for the main sites pages from two xml files.
    PLEASE HELP I'M DESPERATE!!!
    Big thanks!!!

From the screenshot: Is the spacing problem the space between the bold line of text and the regular text below it?
When you import text from an .xml file, the literal text is usually put into a variable, then that variable is used to populate the dynamic textfield with that text. The htmlText that I was referring to is the text in the .xml file. You mentioned a break tag, so I'm assuming that you are using html formatting on the text in the .xml file. If this is true, then the problem is most likely in the way that the text is organized in the .xml file. Flash sees carriage returns and spacing differently than most current browsers. It works more like older versions of IE in that it incorrectly adds vertical space to text in seeminly random ways.
For instance, if you have text set up like this:
    Line one of the text.
    <br>
    Line two of the text.
Flash will see this as three carriage returns, not two. You may need to re-write the text like this:
Line one of the text. <br> Line two of the text.
Without seeing the layout of all of the files for your movie, I can't really tell where the problem might be with the loading errors. I usually put my external files in folders that are in the same folder as the Flash movie so that the relative path is short and simple.

  • [solved]sound issues with alsa

Hello everyone. My system sound has stopped working after using cmus. What I did was to launch cmus, followed by opening a folder with audio files and playing one. I then closed the terminal while the audio file was still playing. When I tried to run cmus again a message along the lines of "socket was still active" was outputted without launching cmus. So i deleted the ~/.cmus directory and cmus was able to launch again. However this time there was no audio. I tested for audio in youtube but there was none there either. I have run speaker-test but to no avail. I deleted and reinstalled alsa numerous times as well as all the configuration files associated with it on the system but there is still no audio. I doesnt seem to be a hardware issue because the sound works in Ubuntu on another partition. Maybe it is a driver issue? Has anyone had any similar issues?
    Last edited by rgb-one (2014-07-09 19:22:29)

Ok so the issue was that it was muted. I accidentally clicked the , key while in alsa and the audio started to play. So it switched from MM to 00. I installed the firmware package but I am uncertain if that has anything to do with the solution. I ill test it some other time. Thanks.

  • Adobe flash issues with a specific site but other users to the site can streem

    Good day all
Please I have tested this on fedora 17, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and on sepaprate PCs (win 7). With Chrome, IE 9, Firefox all update and Adobe flash is updated too
I have test the flash on Adobe site and it is OK. But there is this erro all the time

Hi, Go to this Adobe test site and you should be able to see the Flash Player logo animate and your FP version will be listed also. The latest is 10.1.85.3. Test with Firefox and also with Safari.
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
The Shockwave Flash plugin works thru the browser and is Installed there, so when you view any Flash content or videos, etc. you are able to. That test site should tell you if Flash Player is working.
    Hope that helps.

  • Flash issues with windows

Hi there. I've been having some weird problems with flash i'm
hoping someone could help me with.
I formatted one of my two hard drives about a month 1/2 ago
and since then flash has worked sporadically.
I have shockwave installed which seems to have no problem
with anything. Running Firefox 2.0 i'll install flash from
shockwave.com for example. I close all the browsers and when I open
it back up it works but eventually flash causes Firefox to crash
    and close.
The same thing happens in Yahoo IM. Yahoo has closed before
because of flash.osx. I know it's only when flash is installed
because I last uninstalled Flash a week ago and Yahoo IM has worked
    fine since then.
I don't know what the problem is or what could be causing
this. I've removed it using the program, restarted, tried
installing again to no avail. Not sure what could be causing this
but I could really use any help or suggestions.
    Thanks
    Brian

Hey debgram, it's actually crashing and then closing.
not firefox or ie so much anymore but yim now. not doing it
as much as it was which was every 5-10 min but i still had
absolutly NO problems when flash wasn't installed.
I think it's better after i deleted the actual flash folder
    in the system32 folder.
if it continues however i'll definitly be emailing
    macromedia.

  • [SOLVED] Steam windows flashing, issues with overlay

I made a short video to demonstrate the problem here.
I am using the catalyst drivers (from Vi0L0's AUR), xorg 1.13
A similar issue occurs with smplayer and the video showing through other windows.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!
    **EDIT**
So I re-read the catalyst install guide and it looks like xorg 1.14 is now supported.  Deleted the reference to the 1.13 repository, installed, and it seems to be working.  RTFM works!

Once you install xcompmgr you'll need to do two things:

    Option "Composite" "Enable"

    Notes:
xcompmgr's -a flag is not entirely reliable and prone to kill rendering on a direct draw movement event (Eg the Steam info slide box or dragging an image in a browser.)
The hsetroot utility and line is only needed if you get a gray background/boarder when you start xcompmgr.
nvidia-settings by default disables composite features in it's XOrg config save. If you've used nvidia-settings and saved it's output (Eg. 20-nvidia.conf) you either need to change the extensions section to re-enable this, or just add this section in it's own high numbered config to override it. The latter is documented so that this fix is a module, reminding of its removal when/if this problem is fixed upstream.
Edit: I had it crash again while I was using no flags. I think I've now fixed it with the -n to enable transparency. Just know your millage may vary.
I'd go ahead and mark as solved if it works for you too Speedy Consoles.
If you're using lxdm, you should append this to
    ~/.config/lxsession/LXDE/autostart
    @hsetroot -solid "#000000"
    @xcompmgr -n

    #pcm.equal {
    # Or if you want the equalizer to be your
    # default soundcard comment the following
    # line and uncomment the above line.
    pcm.!default {
    type plug;
    slave.pcm plugequal;
    defaults.pcm.rate_converter "samplerate_best"
I tried combining the two files and dmix would still work but then alsaequal would have no impact on the audio playing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

  • Issues with Flash Pro CS5 on Mac

    Hi,
I recently bought a MacBookPro 15", 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 and CS5 Creative Suite. Built in Intel HD Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M.
Hi have some issues with Flash Pro:
    - when objects on the stage are quite big (for example a 800x3000 movie clip), it start showing strange colors and wrong position, however when double clicking the movie clip to edit it, it looks correct. Also no problem when publishing. See images attached, the first one is correct, the second one shows the problem, when editing the mc in the 2nd image i get the third image that is correct.
    Correct:
    Wrong:
    After entering editing mode:
    - after a while, when making a change in the stage or in the time line (deleting frames for example), it doesn't show it immediately, but i need to refresh the page. This happens more when opening many fla in the same time. Closing and restarting Flash fixes it, for a while.
    - after a while it doesn't show when selecting an object, the object looks like is not selected, however i can see that it is in the properties panel.  This happens more when opening many fla in the same time.  Closing and restarting Flash fixes it, for a while.
Hi have been using CS3 and CS4 with less powerful computers before (always mac) and i never encountered these issues.
Removing preferences and Application support files didn't help. I also updated Flash  to v. 11.0.1, but no joy.
Does anyone know what's the problem?
    Thanks a lot.
    Mike

Based on some searching and testing, it seems that if you redirect ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5 to a location on the local hard drive, rather than the network account storage, the problem ceases.
I hope this helps anyone else who may run into this problem.
    Take care,
    Branden
