Flash, iWeb, and More, HELP!!!!

Can anyone help me? I want a website with a homepage that is moving all the time with a film going on in the background. It has music playing too!

As she types, letters scroll across the windows where the view used to be. Minutes later, the female character goes to a movie house. the film CUTS to a CGI Camera view from up on a roof top. The CAM zooms down the face of the building and to the front door of the movie theatre. This is called an establishing shot.
I mention all this as I want to copy this basic structure. I'd like to have a "moving" home page that would be me sitting at a table writing something. The viewer would "hear" the music. Behind me would also be giant windows. the written music would start to scroll across the panes of the window just like "Sky Captain..."
Based on what street the CAM went, you would arrive at different scenes relevant to the kind of music I would like to display. There, like the "VMAX Motorcycle" web site, page 2, would be the selection of music with picture of as many cues that I had in that style, etc.
Can anyone help me and or give me advice? thank you and take care, all!

Windows 8.1 not recognizing Adobe Flash Player and Adobe help not helpful

I have a new laptop with Windows 8.1 64 bit. I tried to view a video and it said I did not have flash player. I went to download adobe flash player and your website said I had it intergrated into 8.1 and that it was either disabled, not the right version or that active X filters needed to be clear. I followed all instructions. Flash was installed with the 8.1 64 bit version. Flash was enabled for all websites and I cleared the active X filter and I still get told that I don't have install flash because it is intergrated and but it does not work. Please help I am in a cycle where Adobe is not helping just sending me in a circle. Thank you

Your problems aren't with Adobe or Flash Player. They're with Internet explorer 11 and Microsoft.
IE11 (Windows 7, 8 & 8.1) has been an abomination since its release October 18, 2013. Yahoo, Facebook, BBC, ESPN and dozens of other sites and domains have had trouble recognizing the Browser. If the site doesn't recognize the browser, it won't recognize any plugins in the browser, including Flash Player. Microsoft was made aware of the problems by millions of users within hours of the release, and so far they've shown no sign that they intend to fix it anytime soon. Their recommendation is to enable Compatibility View for affected pages. Two problems with that are that it's had only limited success, and you must enable it manually for each affected page. Basically, they're telling you to "pretend" you're not using IE11.
I'm not big on "pretending", and I recommend actually using something different. Something that works where IE11 won't.
Firefox (from Mozilla)
Chrome (from Google)
Safari (from Apple)
Opera (from Opera)
ANY of those will work where IE isn't recognized, and they use the Flash Player Plug-in (for other browsers), except for Chrome, which has its own plugin embedded in by Google.

Chapters..and more help

We are about to be done editing our mountain bike film...its premiering in las-vegas at the end of the month. What i need to know is how can we put in chapters for each rider? And how can we have it so when viewing the main movie, you can skip forward to the next rider section? Is this all done in dvdpro? Will I be able to get this all done tonight?
What would be the best way to export from final cut pro hd? We filmed on a Panasonic dvx100a

You can do this very easily, but you have some other things to consider as well.
First off, from FCP export via Compressor and use a compression setting that will accommodate any fast action, pans, zooms or fades that you have created. generally, a higher bitrate will be required for these parts, but do not go above 7.4MBPS if you are writing out to a DVD-R. make sure that at the same time you encode the video that you also encode the audio to AC3. There is a bookload of information about these two settings alone... so it may not come out exactly right first time!
Your chapter markers set up in the timeline in FCP (not in the clip... the green ones along the top of the timeline) can be included in the export and brought right in to DVDSP as your chapter markers for the disc. Be sure to set them as chapter markers when you create them (if not, go back to one, press 'm' when on it and click the 'add chapter' button in the marker dialogue).
When you export, make sure you keep all markers!
Importing the encoded video into DVDSP should include the markers (not everyone gets this right first time...) All you then need to do is add the footage to the track (the markers should show up above the time line), add the AC3 audio beneath it and then switch to the outline view window. You can now drag the icon for the track you have just set up into the menu editor window to the right. If you hold it there for a second until the dialogue box appears you can select the option to create chapter menu and connect to track. This should then ask you which template for your menu you would like to use, and build the entire set of menus necessary (most menus have about 6 or 8 buttons. If your track has more chapters, a series of menus will be automatically created for you).
When you select a button in a menu then the playback will start at that chapter and continue on through the rest of the track.
If you want to return to the menu after playing a single chapter then you'll need to add stories to your project and place a single chapter into each. You'll also need to edit the button targets for each menu button to point to the correct story container and also set the menu call and end jump for each story to go back to the correct menu and button each time.
You can create a 'play all' button which will allow you to skip forwards and backwards along the track as well... just point it to the track itself.
If you do the simple way and don't add stories then you can skip back and forth after selecting a chapter to play. If you add stories and play one of those then you shouldn't be able to skip back and forth between the stories (this is normal... but some players do let you).
As you can see... a few decisions to make before building the final disc!

Iweb and blogger help

I have set up a blogger account to publish under my news section of my website. I created a template in iweb, the copied and pasted the html with some modification into the template editor in blogger. That works fine and can be seen at http://www.markmcleod.org/Mark_Mcleod/News.html However if you click an archive the template at the top is lost and the links are a little screwey. I think I have the file structure wrong. I have the images stored for the template in a folder called new_files and have the image source pointing to that folder. Anyone know how to fix this? I am doing it this way instead of with iweb so I can blog anywhere.

Gray frame around flash buttons and more...

Hi,
1.I've used flash buttons in my home page,the problem is
that when u view the page with explorer u see a gray frame around
the buttons...
It is so ugly...some one knows how to fix it without using

I'm experiencing the same problems with my flash buttons. As
you hover over them initially, a gray border surrounds them and an
alt tag pops up that says "click here to activate this control."
This confuses some of the visitors, becuase they perceive this as
if the buttons do not work. I suspect it may be a browser specific
problem...are there any quick fixes for this? Thanks for the help.

Flashing "?" and more...

I have an Ibook G4 with a lovely flashing "?". I have been able to backup the data using a firewire connection to another Ibook. I did this with the intent to restore the computer back to it's original condition. However when I began this process my Panther disc was scratched. I have since found out that the Panther disc was scratched by the combo drive in the Ibook. Since Tiger has been released I cannot get a new copy of Panther from Apple.
1) Can I get an external drive (that will not scratch future CD's) and use this to do the restore?
2) Can I get a copy of Panther somewhere or use the discs from the other Ibook or can I upgrade to Tiger and do the restore (my interest here is to do it all legally as well)?
3) Can I buy another replacement combo drive and do the restore.
4) Other/none of the above?

1.) I'm pretty sure an external drive would do the restore--but I'm not certain.
2.) You should be able to use a different copy of Panther to restore your machine. However, you MUST use a CD with the same version (or higher) than the one that came on your machine. ie--> if yours came with 10.3.2, you would need that version or something higher.
3.)You can get your combo drive replaced, but it's costly. The only site I know of is www.powerbookresq.com

IWeb and HTML Help

Hey, Im using iWebMore to use html. I tried it to make an iFrame, didnt work, tried to embed a YouTube video, didnt work. So I tried something simple such as:

which will simply but Hello! over Bye with a line between them. However, this still did not work.
I think the major problem I am having is that when in iWebMore, I choose 'Select Publish Folder...', navigate to my iDisk, but I can't choose the web folder as it is an alias. The Web folder is faded with a little black arrow in the bottom left hand corner of the folder. I think I need to change this folder from an alias to an actual folder, but I don't know how.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. =]

Flash CS6 and Flash Pro CC questions

I have the Adobe Creative Suite CS6, I just seen that Flash has a new version "Flash Pro CC" I need to know the following.
WIll Flash Pro be available on its own? Or is there a CS7 Creative Suite coming?
Main differences in Flash Pro CC and Adobe Edge Animate?
I do not see any of this info available as my business seems to be pointing to more app creation and HTML5 animation in the future. Adobe Edge is a good tool but there is no tool that can stand beside Flash when it comes to animating and I would hope that in some way shape or form, masks and some other features which were avaialble ONLY in Flash are now somehow integrated in Flash Pro?
Any info appreciated.

This is a very good point as anyone who knows Flash would agree that it would be a godsend if Flash Pro CC would allow the user to create Flash based animations and then export to HTML5 while preserving the tools in Flash like masking which is not available in Edge. Having worked in Edge plenty of times it still requires alot of coding when you are doing button states and the overall nightmare of audio not being totally perfected to work in HTML 5 without 3rd party javascript libraries makes it difficult.
So, Flash Pro CC is ONLY available in Creative Cloud for a subscription, correct?
I have the new Lynda.com overview of Flash Pro CC and will have a look but in the meantime you are a Flash god and have helped me numerous times, many thanks !!!!

Can someone take a look at my project and give me ideas to reduce lag/optimize it? (relatively new to flash and need help)

I really need to reduce the lag happening in this project. I know practically nothing about action script except for what I've used in this project so please keep that in mind.
Im going to try and break apart the grouped art so its in its most basic form and see if that helps, and also change all my tweens to frame by frame since those two things helped me with an animation I did awhile back that was lagging severely.
But I was hoping someone with more knowledge could take a look and see if there is anything that they know of that I could do to help fix this. I'm working in Flash cs6 and using action script 3.
I have to turn this project in by this Friday (the 20th) so I would love to get this sorted by then but even if I can't I would still be interested in some possible solutions, just for learnings sake.

My movie does play on through the player on the JW site, after about 30 seconds of waiting for the picture to appear. When I cut and paste the above code into my webpage, I don't get anything. I have dropped the "Player.swf" and "swfobject.js" files into the folder containing the contents of the page that I want the player to appear on.
Where is the exact best place to drop these files?

Adobe Flash Player 11.8.800.42 is the most recent version from Adobe. It is a pre-release version. I am using it without any noticeable problems.
The current stable version is Download 11.7.700.169.

Newbie problems installing Flash 11 and windows 7/SWF issues-PLEASE HELP!

I am VERY new at Dreamweaver (llike four days in) - my church has a website & they need someone to take it over so I'm trying to help out while teaching myself something new.
I was doing okay til now. I downloaded a free template to play with so as not to mess up their real site just yet. I was able to get the majority of the site up except for the top part with flash. Error message says: "this page contains some SWF objects that may not work properly in the most recent versions of IE. Dreamweaver cannot convert them to SWF markups. Please delete each of them and insert again" This mesage comes up on the index.html, index-1.html, and index-2.html pages.
I deleted & re-typed everything that had an SWF in it (then realized maybe I only needed to do the ones with the .swf extension, duh on me!) but I'm still getting a gray box with the "f" inside.
Additionally, I keep having to re-install Flash because it says I have to use version 10 or higher - the browserlab worked during the online lessons offered by Adobe, but now it won't work at all! I installed Flash 11 more times than I can count but it still won't work, yet when I go to my Programs flash it's installed twice - once as a 64 bit and once without. I'm assuming one of those can go.
I'm familiar with HTML and have created smaller websites using templates on sites like Yahoo Business, Wix and Office Live and thought I could handle this, but it's really stumping me, thought there'd be a learning curve and trial/error but WOW! Much respect to all you web designers out there, this stuff is no joke!
If anyone could please help me fix this problem and dumb your answer down as much as possible cuz I'm admittedly very lost! I'm worried that I'll have the same problem with the church site because they want some flash aspects. Did several internet searches & couldn't decipher the programmer jargon, nor could figure out if I was doing the suggested fixes correctly.

Older versions of DW used an Active-X JavaScript to initialize Flash in IE browsers. Adobe later switched to a different script in CS4 and again in CS5 and CS5.5 which uses SWF Object Replacement. I suspect your Template was made with an older version of Flash & DW which is why you're getting the nag screens.
Option 1: Preview the original template pages in browsers. If it works, ignore the DW error messages.
Option 2: Rebuild the Template by stripping all Flash object and embed code and removing links to any Flash supporting scripts. Then re-insert your media. Insert > Media > Flash...

Flash player needs to be installed everyday and more!

I've downloaded adobe flash player. it works for a little while then later on or the next time i boot up tells me i need to install adobe flash player to view a web page (like youtube, ect.) i've uninstalled it x15 or more and downloaded it all over again just to have this problem again and again and again. does anyone know why this is happening. nothing else does this, just the flash player. i've also tried installing 32bit instead of 64bit flash player and still the same. any help would be great. thank you.
P.S. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit system. Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421

Please please please help me for this very mysterious and strange problem!! I've tried to shorten the description to minimum, but please kindly spend 5-10 min to have a read!! And offer any insights...I am very desperate for some helps
Some backgrounds
I am implementing a charting tool for my project, which is very similar to Google’s finance chart but much more tailored-made to meet different requirements. The charting interface is made up of the following core components:
Time selection panel: to change the time span of the chart
Measurement points panel: to select different points of measurement
Chart area: to display the measurement data of the selected measurement points over the selected time span
For example, the Apartment’s power administrator can view the total power consumption in Unit 101 of Building A, in the Pacific Apartment’s complex (a made-up name).
Similarly, the administrator can also “stack” up charts of multiple measurement points, having an all-in-one view like below:
Only the chart is implemented in Flash/AS3, the other panels are JSP, JavaScript and Dojo.
When an user clicks on a measurement point to add a chart to the chart area, the following things happen in order (briefly):
User clicks on a link (say, Total Amps)
Dojo event listener attached to the link picks up the mouse click event
The Dojo event listener calls an AS3 method (addChart) through the External Interface to add a chart to the Flash chart:
The Flash chart picks up the method call, adds a chart to the stage and reposition all charts on the stage. Since the stage height is fixed at 600 pixels, each chart added will be fitted into the 600 pixels. Eg, 1 chart on the stage = 600 px/chart, 2 charts = 300 px/chart, 3 charts = 200 px/chart…etc.Please let me know if you would like to see a picture before the flash chart is stretched!
Once a chart has been successfully added to the stage, Dojo will stretch the <div> tag that the chart resides so that each chart still “looks” like 400 pixels tall. For example, 3 charts on the stage means each chart is 200 pixels tall, but Dojo will stretch the entire <div> to 1200 pixels, making each chart look like 400 pixels
The above step is the same concept as resizing the stage
The problem!!!!
When an user adds more than 7 charts, the 8th chart will start have Flash contents disappeared. To be exact, I used firebug to increment the <div> height, and found that when height exceed 2924 (a magic number) pixels, Flash contents start to disappear. See below (the red-boxes indicate the missing contents)
The situation gets worse when continue to add charts, eventually half of the bottom chart will disappear.
Some pre-work I have done:
I have unit tested this component in standalone Flash movie, with 3 LCD monitors totalling 4000 pixels in height. I produced 10 charts in a single flash movie, and then resized the window from 600px to 4000px, no charts disappear.
This happens in all of IE7, IE8, FF3+, and Chrome. Although slightly different manifestation, but they all have contents mysteriously disappeared.
This also happens to GOOGLE's finance chart, when you enlarge the chart's <div> to over 10000 pxs (yet another magic number)
The funny thing is, however, when a graph has been cut in half, the visible half is still operatable. For example, if the zoom window as been cut in half, I can still move it, zoom in and zoom out.

Just a few things added to the "Some pre-work I have done":
I have read up this issue on "the Flash height problem" and have changed the parent <div> to also accommodate style:"height=100%". No, problem still persists.
I am using SWFObject 1.5 to insert the flash movie on the page and I have studied their issue/bug reports. I have not finished reading the list of bugs, but so far have not found any useful information. However, please kindly let me know if you know an issue with SWFObject making flash contents disappear.

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked.
