Flash Layers Hidden

I have a problem with layers being hidden by previous layers
in Flash and Flash player. I created 14 images that are the same
except that each one has a incremental number, that is 1 through
14, on the image. They were created in Photoshop as PNG images. I
then exported them to SWF throught imagready. I then load each SWF
in order 1 through 14, into Flash MX on their own layer. Once all
loaded, layers 12, 13 and 14 do not show. In the timeline box
select Layer 1 as active. The '12' image appears. Select layer 2 as
active and '13' images appears and so on.
Is there a limitation to the number of layers or a limitation
of some sort that hides layers?
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
P.S. I have images and a FLA file if anyone would like to
examine.

I just found out that there is a 12 layer limitation on
images containing alpha transparency, prior to Flash Player 8.
Thanks anyways.

  • When will adobe make FLASH layers export to illustrator possible? (again)

    Why oh Why is it not possible to export layers FROM Flash TO Illustrator.
    Yes there are still people designing and drawing there artwork in Flash, refining them later in Illustrator.
    The SVG format creates just one layer containing the flash layers as groups.
    Will this again be possible? and for the time being does anyone know a easy way to separate groups into layers?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Select all the groups, right click>Distribute to Layers.

  • Can't compile with any layers hidden on timeline

    Can someone explain what could possibly be going on?
    Running CS4 I have a .fla that was compiling fine yesterday.  Today I made some slight additions and it wouldn't compile, giving errors saying that various things were undefined.  I was starting to go nuts until finally I made all layers in the timeline visible and compiled again.  Now it compiles fine.
    Just in case it was something Flash itself I created a new file, hid some layers and compiled and it was fine.  So it's not the application, just this particular file.
    What could be doing this?  Why can't I compile with hidden layers?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi fizbeam,
    This happened to me a while ago!
    It's annoying.. somewhere in the publish settings theres a checkbox marked 'dont export hidden frames' and if it's checked it'll cause this to happen.

  • Flash Layering Problem in Firefox , Please Help.

    Hi,
    I am having a problem with Firefox and Safari. I am trying to
    place video over an already emdedded flash file. Here is an example
    www.mjmi.com when viewed on IE the layering is fine and you can see
    both flash videos. When you view it in Firefox or safari my video
    with the actors falls to the back of the original flash video.
    I have tried every type of positioning but the video keeps
    falling behind the other one.
    Does anyone have a solution for this? With out having to
    combine the flash files.
    Thanks so much
    here is my code if that is the problem
    <div id="flashAdd" style="position:absolute; left:25px;

    myprintln('</OBJECT>');</script>
    </div>

    and if you will ask in order that he to put for top with a
    level of the type:
    _root.creatEmptyMovieClip ("my_mc", 5);
    That will do that his application raises 5 levels, I think
    that it can be a solution, if there is doubt look in for help for
    creatEmptyMovieClip ();

    Go to

  • Flash Layers, Frames, Keyframes, Objects – Please Help

    I would appreciate someone's help! I am working on a class
    assignment and currently struggling w / adding objects to layers.
    When a new layer is inserted how do you get a blank screen (not a
    new scene) on which to add your new objects? Everytime I add a new
    layer, I see previous layers w/objects. I need blank screens with
    the new layers.

    Deb H;
    If I follow the question, I suspect you need to review how
    layers work
    in flash (although it's very similar to other graphic
    applications), because
    what you seek is not really possible. You can get a blank
    stage by working
    in a different timeline such as a movie clip, or by adding a
    new scene--but
    not by simply adding layers (unless you are hiding the
    existing content in
    that timeline in some way. -Tom Unger

  • Why are my hidden layers showing up in a PDF when i convert it from an Ai file?

    When I convert an illustrator file to a PDF the hidden layers are showing up when openned by a mac or iphone. This does not happen when i send it to people with a pc and is only happening to one person. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?
    Thank you.

    That's probably because the Mac people are opening or viewing the PDFs within the Mac's "Mail" program or with the "Preview" program and not with Acrobat.
    Since the Windows people aren't using these programs and most likely just Acrobat or Adobe Reader, the layers are kept hidden.
    I'm afraid the only way to truly keep those layers hidden is to delete them before saving your file as a PDF. (Of course, do a "Save As" and keep your original .ai file intact.

  • Help with layering HTML over Flash?

    I am using stylesheets to layer an html table over a flash element. The page renders properly in Safari but in IE, there are some display problems. The table cell bumps over to the right. Can anyone assist?
    http://www.kleewebdesign.com/hpcc/index2.html

    Start by validation your page here:
    http://validator.w3.org/
    It will tell you that you must declare a DOCTYPE, more info:
    http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_doctype.asp
    Then learn how to use Z-indexing here:
    http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_pos_z-index.asp
    You will also need to give the container <div>s declared positions:
    http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_positioning.asp
    Here is example of Flash layered between 2 layers of HTML:

  • How to make Flash preserve color of layers with varying opacity when imported from Photoshop

    I have a set of layers in a Photoshop .psd with varied opacities; when I import the psd layers to Flash as Flash layers, the colors of the layers is wrong - the lower the opacity percentage in PS, the more "off" the color is in Flash.  Photoshop measures the color of each layer as an RGB value - I don't know why Flash can't preserve the RGB values as well?  Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Good Afternoon Adobe Team,
    I recently updated to the latest version of Flash Pro and I'm having an issue with it crashing whenever I go to test it. What little code I wrote is below, I'm running on windows 7 machine.
    package  {
        import flash.display.MovieClip;
        import flash.events.*;
        public class OpeningScene extends MovieClip {
            var takeOne;
            var setUp;
            public function OpeningScene() {
                // constructor code
                ("This is the opening scene constructor");
                addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, myPlayButtonClicked);
                takeOne = new SceneOne;
                setUp = new OpeningScene;
            function myPlayButtonClicked(e:MouseEvent) {
                trace("Button Clicked");

  • How to Create a trigger code for turning on light bulbs in flash and animate images professional cs6

    hi,
        i designed a very interactive music website in illustrator and photoshop and i am trying to animate the main page design in flash professional and eventually publish it as HTML5. There are couple of questions i need to ask before starting
    1) should i import my design in differnet layers from illustrator into flash professional in order to make it easier to isolate and animate specific parts of the web page?
    2) i want to have a roll over effect that allows certain features in the page to turn on and off when the mouse hovers over them. can you explain how to do that? any tutorial videos i could follow
    3) what format should i use when importing my illustrator design into flash professional
    4) how should i animate the content pop out from the safe box into the main screen in flash professional (i have never used this program before, so i will be going off video tutorials and whatever suggestions/help you would have)
    **The idea is to have a content frame fly out of the safe into the screen (the size will increase rapidly and it will fade into the screen as well while rotating 360 degrees for one revolution). The content is a basic rectangular frame i designed in illustrator. The body of this frame will be transparent allowing me to embed the main page features into it eg music, videos, bio etc. All this will be done in the later process, the main issue is figuring out how to animate the content frame into the screen and also creating a click feature that allows the content to fly back into the safe and then the safe closing in.
    Secondly, the trigger code rollover effect that allows certain features light to turn on when the mouse hovers over it and turn over when its not.****

    I think you'll get most flexibility by turning on the feature that lets you keep your Illustrator layers as Flash layers. You'll also want to check the box that lets you make an Illustrator object into a MovieClip for anything that you want to interact with or address through code.
    Add an event listener for MOUSE_OVER that triggers whatever functions you need to create to turn on the features. This means that your object that you will mouse over will need to be a MC, as well as any other objects that will be addressed (for example, calling play()) will need to be a MC. You'll want to have a matching MOUSE_OUT handler that stops MC's, hides them, or whatever.
    You should probably organize your Illustrator file so that the objects you need to address are on their own layers. This includes nested objects. Name things informatively. Remember, if the first import doesn't give you exactly what you want, you don't have to save the change--you can edit your settings or the Illustrator file and try again.
    Look into motion tweens. I highly recommend the books "How to Cheat at Flash" and "Animation with Scripting." I don't really think the way they tell you to script will advance your career if you want to be a software architect, but if you just want to animate the occasional widget, it's fine.

  • How can I convert many .png's to graphic symbols at once in Flash CS6?

    So, just as the subject says, how do I convert a ton (like over 2,000) .pngs quickly and easily to graphic symbols?
    I really dont want to have to drag each one to the stage, hit f8,  and name it, for each one.
    I understand that, back in the CS3 days (im using CS6), it would autonatically generate them when you imported them to the library, is there a setting that I can turn on to have this happen?
    Thank you for your time,
    Obsidn

    Select the directory with your pngs in it.
    Right-click>Browse with Adobe Bridge
    Select your pngs
    Tools>Photoshop>Load to photoshop layers (not sure how many layers this can handle--you may wind up having to do this in batches)
    Save your new psd
    In Flash, create a new symbol with a blank timeline
    Ctrl-R, navigate to the psd you made earlier
    Select all the Photoshop layers
    Check "create MovieClips for these layers."
    Convert layers to keyframes or flash layers (not important, since you probaby don't need to keep this symbol)
    OK
    You'll have Movie Clips, not Graphic Symbols, but maybe you can write or find a JSFL to convert them and then you can block select them, click the Properties button, and change the type from MovieClip to Graphc.

  • Export multiple images with random layers

    I have this texture file that has many different variations to it. (3 different kinds of pants, different hairpieces, some optional items, etc...)
    What i want to do, is export it with random layers selected. (there are also folders inside, it's fine if i have to merge the folder into a single layer, but it would be better if it could treat the folders as a layer)
    There are 2 layers that must always be on,
    then there are 6 other layers that can be mixed and matched completely at random.
    Finally: there are 3 layers that only one of them can be active at one time (if one is active, the other 2 cannot be). Those last 3 layers I wouldn't mind if i had to go through manually and remove the combinations that couldn't work, but it would be much better to have it automatic.
    Is there any way to script this so that it exports all of these textures as *filename*_*variation#*.png

    -the first 8 lines just make sure there is a valid document open, and if there is, find out the file path and everything
    Correct.
    But I cut corners, if I were more diligent I would also check for the existence of more than one layer and that the file has been saved at all (otherwise it has no path and an error occurs) etc.
    -line 14 just makes sure it outputs no more than 20 images (which i find odd. the texture files are extremely small ~6.82 kb each, so loading them won't be a problem. it would be good if it got stuck in an infinite loop)
    Feel free to change it to a higher number.
    To create 100 files change to
    for (var p = 1; p < 101; p++) {
    Why is thearray2 put in thearray, but then never used separately?
    The function RandomShow checks if the elements in the Array are Arrays themselves
    if (theObject.constructor != Array) {
    and just assumes it is a Layer if it is not an Array.
    But when it is an Array the function RandomShow is run with that Arrays elements as arguments.
    This is intended to enable the various rules – for example if you have two or more Layers of which only one may be visible you could put them in such an Array with minimal and maximal set to 1, which should only make one visible.
    But – and again I should have included checks for this – you should not put a Layer in more than one Array.
    In the example changing theArray2 to
    var theArray2 = [[theLayers[0], theLayers[1], theLayers[2]], 1, 1, "no"];
    would mean that 7, 8 and 9 would only be visible individually.
    But as theArray2 is itself part of theArray it may be visible or not unless it is set as the baseLayer.
    Or rather it would if I had not forget to check the baseLayer item for being an Array itself …
    So please change the affected if-clause (should be about line 34) to
    // show the baselayer;
    if (baseLayer.constructor == Number) {
              var theObject = theArray[baseLayer];
    // show baselayer if layer;
              if (theObject.constructor != Array) {
                        theObject.visible = true;
    // run function if baselayer is an array;
              else {
                        RandomShow (theObject[0], theObject[1], theObject[2], theObject[3])
              maximal--
    -baselayer is defined (but i can't find out where to input what it is, do i put it in place of the "no" on line 15?)
    The function takes four arguments,
    • the Array
    • the minimum number of visible elements
    • the maximum number of visible elements
    • a layer that should always be visible identified by its place in the Array
    So when invoking the function RandomShow and wanting the first layer in the Array to be visible it would be:
    RandomShow (theArray, 1, 5, 0);
    -for the layer array do I put in the actual layer names?
    If you want to address a layer with teh name »Layer 1« by name (top level layers that is, layers in Groups are filial to the Group) you can use
    myDocument.layers.getByName("Layer 1")
    -If I currently have layers hidden, how would i tel it to not add those to be randomly shuffled and made visible (it was randomizing the texturemap and the other layer that is there for future reference into the compiled pngs)
    Whether a Layer is visible or not is irrelevant in the curren tform of the Script, the Layers are addressed in the Array.
    Introducing a check for visibility would be possible, but make the function a bit more convoluted as this would also affect the maximum number for example.
    I don’t think I answered all questions, but maybe you’ve made progress on your own already and you can always post again if matters are still unclear.
    Maybe the function is more complicated than it would need to be or maybe it will not be able to accomodate all your needs currently, but one could for example extend the baseLayer argument to an Array itself to have more than one element (either Layer or another Array) that will always be visible … there are still possibilities but the issue might be a bit complicated.

  • From .psd in flash

    Hi! I`m new to Flash. I am trying to make a "story ",I can say. I made the background ,the ground etc. in Photoshop. And I inported them in flash. I would like to know how I can make the .psd or .jpg [as saved from photoshop] be editable in flash. Like making a road sign be a button that leads to a new area [I know how to make buttons] So I ask again,how do I import them to be editable in flash?
                                                                                                  Thank you for your support.

    In Photoshop, separate each element to a unique layer. If you want one or more elements to show different states, then make each of those states as separate elements, each in its own layer. Save the Photoshop file. Import the Photoshop file into your Flash movie. Use the default settings: "Convert layers to Flash layers" and "Place layers at original position".
    When imported the new Flash layers will be named the same as the layers in Photoshop, so if this will matter, then be sure to give the Photoshop layers useful names.
    Once imported each layer from Photoshop will be a bitmap object in Flash's Library, and each item will show on the stage. Click off the stage area in the stage window to deselect everything. Then you can select each item individually and set it to be a movieClip. You don't have to make everything a movieClip, but you do need to convert those that you want to control it through Actionscript.
    So, in the case of a stop sign, put it into a separate layer in Photoshop, then import the file, select the stop sign and make it movieClip, or a button object. Then you can use it as a control in your Flash movie.

  • Win7 32bit Flash videos won't play

    I have 2 PCs, both running Win7 Home Premium current with all patches as well as current versions of Chrome, IE9, and Firefox.   My 64bit desktop runs Flash videos just fine with all 3 browsers.  All was OK until the last day or two.  Now my 32bit laptop runs Flash videos in Chrome, but will not run videos in IE9 or Firefox - they load the page where I should see that page that is white with the little puzzle icon in the middle that I can click on to start up the video, but all I get in IE & Firefox is a page that has normal stuff on the sides, but the video part of the screen stays blank black or blank white depending on whether IE or Firefox.  I uninstalled both Shockwave and Flash layers, rebooted, and then downloaded/installed these two items from Adobe.com:
    1 Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.268
    2 Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.5.635
    And then rebooted again.
    Still no progress on getting the videos to play.  What to do??
