Flash Lite 3 on Linux Embedded Device

Hi All,
I can't seem to get a definitive answer on Linux support. I
am building a small hand held device for home controls automation,
it will have a 3.5" touch screen display and be using embedded
Linux as the OS. I want to use Flash Lite 3 as the UI for the
device, is this supported?
Thanks,
Mark

Absolutely, in fact several versions already exist on Linux
devices. Linux is a reference port for our latest Flash Lite
player, which makes it easier for OEMs to bring Flash to their
platform.

  • Flash Player Development for Embedded Device

I recently submitted a request for the Flash Player Lite and
Flash Player SDK. The website told me I would soon be contacted by
an associate with instructions on how to download the tools to
build a flash player for my embedded device. Instead Adobe forwards
my request to a 3rd party consultant that wants to charge me NRE to
develop the tools for my target and an expensive license fee for
each unit I want to put the player on. Since when does Adobe charge
a licensing fee for it's player? They are obviously endorsing this
if they have a contract with this company.
Does anyone know a way I can get the tools to build my own
Flash Player that will run on my device. The device is custom made
hardware using an i.MX32 ARM processor and Windows CE 5.0.

    Adamee -
I went through the same cycle you did. I'd like to add that
it's my understanding that there are two components to the costs of
the 3rd party integrator's solution, an NRE, and a per device
license fee. The NRE is significant, but I understand that the 3rd
party needs to be compensated for their effort. I sensed that the
~$10 per device costs were driven by adobe. From a cash flow
standpoint, $10/device might not be that bad for a low volume
design, and if you're moving big volumes the price goes way down.
All around, it's not a bad deal if you have more cash than
    technical resources.
However, I must admit that I'm disappointed that I have not
been able to find another licensing path except through the third
party. I will mostly likely not be able to justify the NRE but have
the skills (I strongly suspect) to perform the port myself. If
anyone knows how to contact adobe about licensing Flash Lite 3,
please let me know (don't call customer service - it's outside
    their scope).
    Thanks -

  • Flash Lite 3 Update for Device Central CS3

Is anyone else having a problem with this update?
Flash® Lite 3 Update for Device Central CS3
The Flash Lite 3 Update for Device Central enables testing of
Flash® Lite™ 3 content in Device Central, provides
important bug fixes, and includes new and updated device profiles.
I get a note about it every time I have an Adobe update, but
it will not install. It tells me to reinstall the product, but I
have download of CS3 Web Design Premium and I don't have a downlaod

  • Flash Lite Apps on TV devices

    Hello,
I'm a Flash/flex newbie and maybe this isn't the right forum for my question, if this is so please tell me where i should post my question.
I want to develop an interactive Flash Lite application (I suppose with Flex this isn't possible) that can run on TV devices (e.g. Sony Bravia, ...). By interactive I mean that a consumer can interact with the application by using the remote control (e.g. enter numbers, ...).
My first question is Flash Lite meant for developing this kind of application?
My second question how can such an application be deployed on multiple TV devices (I suppose using a kind of set-top boxes connected to a server that on its turn is connected to networking devices, switch firewall, with xDSL)? If I need to use a set-top box what kind of set-top box do i need for this since I want broadcast these apps myself and not via an operator?
Thanks for any help on this.
    Kind regards,
    Guy

Based on current press releases the initial hardware will run Flash Lite 3.1 which does not support AS3 or the Flex Framework.  Adobe has plans to release a new version in 2010 that has Flash Player 10 support.
My first question is Flash Lite meant for developing this kind of application?
    Yes.
My second question how can such an application be deployed on multiple TV devices?
This information is not currently available. The process will most likely be similar to the current mobile distribution: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/distributableplayer/
If I need to use a set-top box what kind of set-top box do i need?
The hardware is not currently available. Vizio plans to release two TVs with hardware support: http://cnettv.cnet.com/vizio-vf552xvt-sv472xvt/9742-1_53-50075277.html

  • How do I install Flash Lite 3.1 to a Windows Mobile Device in Australia

    Hi All,
I am just an end user not a developer. We have a mixture of devices (Palm Treo Pro, HTC Touch HD) that we want to run a Fash Version 8 website. How do we install Flash Lite OTA on these devices to view the flash content?
    We are in Australia.
    thanks

I had some success installing on a real Mobile 5 device [http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5344195]
There is a link to a doc on the main download page, item 5 under How to Install. [http://java.sun.com/javame/downloads/sdk30ea.jsp] I used this for the real device, Treo 700w. Did not try it with an emulator.
The support looks to be an emulator rather than a JVM per say. But then again I could be wrong on that. I too had poked around looking for a JVM, CrEme, J9, etc..
I do have a commercial app installed on the Treo that uses IBM's J9, which is seems requires a contact with a sales person to get ahold of. I had hoped to find something that might clue me in on how to "hook up" my own J2ME app with the J9 installed by the commercial package. But I've pretty much decided to get a real J2ME handset rather than continue to waste my time hacking up something with WM. Now the question is which one makes a good reference platform?

  • Flash Lite 3 For Device...

    TAKES FOREVER TO INSTALL!
I work for a publishing company where our CS3 rollout is in full swing.
When we open CS3, after install, for the first time, we get prompted to download and update the entire suite.
As soon as it gets to this Flash Lite 3 install, it just hangs.
    10 minutes at least!!
Do we really need to install this Flash Lite? Or can we bypass it?
    Thanks!

  • FAXS 2.0 support in Flash Lite (AS2.0)?

Does Flash Lite support FAXS 2.0?
The use case is embedded in a network TV.
    Thanks for any information.

    Hi,
Flash Access is not supported by Flash Lite.
For embedded network TVs, Flash Access does provide a C++ Porting Kit, which can be implemented to your particular device.  For more information on our Porting Kit, please contact Joseph Jones ([email protected]).

  • Information on Adobe Flash Lite License

    Hi,
We are  currently in a process of evaluating flash for in-car HMI development.  Our confidence level has increased after using the evaluation version of  Adobe flash CS4 and we would like to know more about the Adobe Flash  Lite License process for manufacturers. I have submitted a license  request form here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?event=mmform&name=flashlite couple of days back but didn't get any response so far. If anybody has  already undergone through this license process please answer to the  following queries.
    1) What are the benefits of owning a Adobe Flash  Lite License for the device manufacturers?
    2) If I buy an Adobe  Flash Lite License, will I get Adobe flash lite source code OR a binary  Adobe Flash Lite run time?
    3) Do you have a list of 3rd party  developers who provide custom flash lite run time environment for  specific hardware platform? I could find only QNX, but they dont provide  flash lite runtime for other companies.
    4) Where can I find  information such as the production license fee per produced unit for a full functionality  Adobe Flash Lite runtime?
    5) Is linux version of Adobe Flash Lite (x86)  available for download from Adobe?
    Thanks,
    Sreejith

    Hi Sreejith,
Have you got the answers you need?I'm very interested in the answers, could you please share them with me?

  • Flash lite and Memory

    Hi everyone,
I am loading 4 xmls in my application whose size is not more
than 200 KB. My application is 75 KB.
I am loading these xmls into their respective arrays. I
tested this application on E51 and it is installed on memory card.
When I am manpulating the array contents and send this
content to the server sometimes I am getting memory overflow error.
I have kept track of the memory which I noticed at one point
of time exceeds 2 MB and overflow error occurs.
I tried freeing the xml objects using <xmlObject>=null
after loading the contents into respective arrays, but still the
    memory freed is very little.
How do I solve this issue?
Moreover the static and dynamic heap memory for flash lite
applications varies from device to device. Is there any way to
extend the memory or use virtual memory sort of thing when the
application is installed in memory card instead of phone memory
    itself.

    Hi Alex,
I am not "from" Adobe but I have been playing with FL for a
while and I am an ACE. For a Qualcomm specific question you may
want to try thte qualcomm forums (
    http://brewforums.qualcomm.com/)
but in the meantime, I can at least tell you what has been working
    for me.
Add the code used here to you movie (but remember that adding
this debugger will add to the memory load)::
I hope that helped. The biggest message—test on your
device **(but suprissingly, the numbers on my Flash (not qualcomm)
emulator when targeting my exact device are the same as on the
device. Once it gets below 70% the device throws memory errors.
Also, make sure you do garbage collection (search term in FL help
file) otherwise as your program stays on it could throw errors.
(i.e. After 20 minutes the device could throw a memory error but
not right away. This actually happend to me.).
*p.s. Obviously functions require FL 2.0 and not 1.1, but we
are in the BREW forum. To be backwards compatable to FL 1.1 you
would need a frames based method to measure time.
    Best,

  • Flash Lite 1.1

A year ago I used Flash Pro CS 5 to convert a 10 MB .flv file into only 60kb .swf file. I forgot how I did that but it worked in my Sony Ericsson W660i 176 X 220 that supports flash lite 1.1. Can any Adobe expoert know the magic?  Please! show it.
I am using Windows XP Pro SP3 (32 bit), Adobe CS 5 and CS 6.

I made a spelling mistake above. It is "expert".
I remember where I saw it. It was in this link www.adobe.com/go/lrvid5503_ws_en where a video tutorial was made by Lynda. She described about Flash player 10 and H.264 secrets. For some reason they removed as it shows " 404" in the above link. They disabled all the related links to it.
I still can't remember what I did on that day. However I can able to play .swf videos on other devices with Flash player 6 and above but not with Flash lite 1.1 through Device Central CS 5.
I still don't understand why Adobe removed Device Central in CS 6. Using .swf videos is time consuming and cost cutting factor. Is HTML5 the game?

  • Flash lite business in Japan

    Hi friends,
Can someone give little indepth report about Flash lite
    business in japan.
What kind of things or what current trends are going on there
    using flash lite.

    treevivek,
I had sent you an email about Mobile Flash in Japan and the business that entails with it.  Did you get this information?
If not, you can find various information on the following blog: www.MobileDesign.com
Most of the information about doing mobile business in Japan is mainly in Japanese and is not that much exploited from the office, culturally this is not allowed.  Currently there is a new hype about "Kisekae", but the labor that is involved with it is more expensive than the profit that they gain.
97% of all the mobile devices in Japan use Flash Lite 1.1  All carriers
25% of all the mobile devices in Japan use Flash Lite 2.0, AU by KDDI
15% of all the mobile devices in Japan use Flash Lite 3.0, Docomo Carrier
There is no download needed to view flash lite content on Japanese devices, simply click the link and the user is there.  I have a lot of mobile flash website samples taken by video (as the west cant view them on their devices) and can be seen here:
    http://mobiledesign.com/2009/10/23/mobile-websites-using-mobile-flash-lite/
One of the mobile flash lite websites was published in the Mobile Design Archive Book here in Japan and can be purchased at Amazon, here is the site that I made (and the sample video can be seen at the link above) :
    http://mobiledesignarchive.jp/cgi-bin/mt-search.cgi?IncludeBlogs=2&search=mobiledesigner
A whole collection of large companies who use mobile flash lite is located here as well.
I would appreciate anyones feedback on this.  Hope you like them!

  • Executing a linux command through flash lite

    Hello All,
i want to know one thing.. : is it possible to execute a linux command through flash lite?
I mean, say, in linux at the command prompt if i want to change the date and time then i will execute command date 082110452009.00 to set
21 August 2009, 11:45:00 .. i want to do this through actionscript2.. first i wil provide a UI asking the user to set date, time, year.. once he clicks OK i want to execute the above command with the user input..
This is because currently i m running this application on an embedded linux device which doesn't have a real time clock.. i mean once i switch off and ON the device the date and time will set back to default value 01 Jan 1970 as it happens in linux..
    any suggestions?

get the the inputStream of the runtime object after executing the command.
now use the readLine() function until it becomes null.
egs: with reference to ur code.
    InputStream is=p.getInputStream()
    while(is!=null)
    String s=is.readLine();
if the command don't execute try giving the full path also like /sbin/ls -l
