Flash+mac+bitmaps=F@@knfrustration

Ok searched this forums and this seems a fundamental problem
encounted by many!
Low memory warning- like yeah, 6G dual core G5. Tell the
truth now flash Im no muppet, Im armed to the teeth with memory!!!
It has been suggested that a currupt bitmap member maybe the
offending B-stard! Ive deleted em and re-imported all of em and
still Im banging my head against a brickwll. Its not as if these
are giga files either(tiny ones infact). What gives?
I cant open or save the file correctly and working on it,
flash runs dog slow. Anyone have any suggestions other that a
change of career?

Yup, I believe it is called a 'projector' Flash file, and
based on what I have read today it is 'compiled' for either PC or
Mac when its made.
So, unless there is an app out there that allows them to be
played interchangeably or recent Flash developments allow a version
to be created that runs on either platform, I will probably have to
install XP on my Mac as well....

    Because of their serious usability problems, both Flash Text and Flash Buttons have been removed from DW CS4.  There is no alternative method offered in DW other than the use of sIFR for Flash Text (not a good general replacement method) -

  • Flash mac trial download problem

    hello,
    I've downloaded the mac trial of flash cs3 pro, which is this
    file :
    ADBEFLPRCS3_WWE.dmg
    but the download manager crashed just at 99% complete, I
    restarted it and resumed the download and it was fine, but I need
    to be sure of the download validity,
    so could anybody please provide the md5 checksum of the file
    ADBEFLPRCS3_WWE.dmg ?
    thx

    You'll still need to get your downloads sorted out to keep on top of updates.
    This problem comes up at least once every other day - a change of browser always seems to sort it.
    Which browser are you using? IE 9?

  • Cannot Install Flash - MAC

    Hi I have a Mac, running OS X Mavericks, and I cannot install the latest Adobe Flash software. I have followed all the guidelines, including uninstalling and attempting to reinstall Flash, each with no progress. The installer downloads fine and installs with the bar until 5% where the bar stops and I get an error, saying Connection Error. Please can you help as I need Flash.

  • Short film made with Flash Trace Bitmap

    Hello, I've made a short film called "Daylight Saving Time" that uses Trace Bitmap in Flash to give the film a distinctive look.
    Check it out here:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/virtualcinema#p/u/5/IvVgA8b26Y4
    My background is in web and multimedia development - since Flash 1.0 (actually since FutureSplash!) - but I'm also a filmmaker so this was a good way of combining them both.
    Please watch and if you like it share it & send it on. Any questions about the work flow just post and I'll be happy to reply.

    My overall advice is to do that kind of work in an application that is designed for that.  Give Photodex Proshow Producer trial a crack at it.  I do a lot of work with stills, and that IMO PSP is the best approach.  If you are intermixing the odd still, Pr may get you by.  If you plan on doing a lot of that, try proshow, where the workflow and extensive features are designed for making high quality videos from stills that can be output to a wide number of formats and destinations, including color management with many of them( including avi).  And, no need to resize.  I know this won't solve your present problem.
    Obviously, your attempt in Pr has not worked out as you had hoped. Maybe a bit more info would help. How are you rescaling them in Pr? That might well account for some quality loss. What is the original format and size of the images? What color management are you using in PS? Are you using any color correction or effects in Pr? Is your project interlaced or progressive?
    From your description,  you are not even getting the quality you should be getting from Pr IMO, though as Jim says, it is video and it will never look as pristine as it does in PS, but it still seems to me that something you are doing has degraded the work more than normally would be expected.

  • New Flash MAC 11,0,1,3 release documentation

    Hi,
    I've just grabbed the newly released Flash 11 incubator build (complete with .swc) and tried to compile my current project, which resulted in name clashes with new native JSON class, announced here:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplatformruntimes/incubator/
    I currently use the com.adobe.serialization.json.* classes, so I get the following compile error:
    Description Resource Path Location Type
    Can not resolve a multiname reference unambiguously. JSON (from /Users/Shane/Development/ext/flex_sdk_4.5.0.20967/frameworks/libs/player/11.0/playergloba l.swc(JSON, Walker)) and com.adobe.serialization.json:JSON (from /Users/Shane/Development/proj/xx/flash/ext/as3corelib/src/com/adobe/serialization/json/JSON.as) are available.
    So I thought I'd check out the docs for the new JSON classes, and then realised I hadn't actually downloaded a new language reference.  I've gone right through the incubator pages and I can't for the life of me find any documentation.
    Oh, and obviously the new JSON classes are't rocket science (parse=decode, and stringify=encode), but I would like the documentation for the other new stuff (mainly Molehill) too.
    Can someone please point me in the right direction?
    Cheers,
    Shane

    Sorry Shane,
    The docs are really buried in there, which we're trying to have moved.  Here they are for now:

    trying to create a simple clickable slideshow.
    my problem i think is in the math. but i clickable picture buttons on right and left. the center clickable too.
    i wanna know how can i increment decrement a variable depending on direction.
    currently it seems to go in one direction which is to the right.
    also can i make an array of functions: ex- function animate[count](e:event):void
    or do functions handle arrays differently.
    sorry if i sound stupid but its been awhile doing flash.
    heres little code:
    var picture:Array = new Array();
    picture[1] = new pic1();
    addChild(picture[1]);
    picture[1].x =50;
    picture[1].y =384;

You can view what I made at http://www.jeremyseverson.com/as3/flash_gallery/index.html . I created this all in straight AS3 but it should give you an idea of what I did and give you some direction to achieve what you want.

  • Flash Builder 4.7 Embed Error

    I originally posted something similiar in the "Using Flash Builder" section but decided to post something here thinking it would get more coder eyes.
    This worked in Flash Builder 4.5 using the Flex 4.6 SDK with the AIR 3.5 SDK.

    If you try to set compression to false:
    package
         import flash.display.Sprite;
         public class TestProject extends Sprite
             [Embed(source = "Image.png", mimeType = "image/png", compression="false")]
             private static var _imageClass:Class;
             public function TestProject()
    You get the following:
    The attribute compression can't be used with the mime type: image/png
    Change it to jpeg:
    package
         import flash.display.Sprite;
         public class TestProject extends Sprite
             [Embed(source = "Image.png", mimeType = "image/jpeg", compression="false")]
             private static var _imageClass:Class;
             public function TestProject()
    You get the following:
    The attribute compression can't be used with the mime type: image/jpeg
    Is anyone else getting these same results with Flash Builder 4.7 with Flex SDK 4.6 and AIR SDK 3.5? I expect that we still should be able to compress embedded assets within Flash Builder?

    Upgraded Flex 4.6 SDK to use the new AIR 3.6 SDK and the Flash Builder 4.7 to use the new AIR 3.6 SDK with the new compiler and I am still getting this. I had some other people try these steps and they got the exact same error so it doesn't seem to be just me. Is noone here getting this or am I the only one trying to embed a png directly into a Flash Builder project? =/

  • Poor quality motion tween with png image, tried "Trace Bitmap", but then it looks like a newspaper

    Greetings all,
    I've been a software developer for many years, but am not very savy in the design elements.  So, much of what I'm going to say will probably sound "newbie", so please forgive me in advance.
    So, I'm trying to get a transparent image to fly in from the side.  So, I *thought* I was doing the correct thing by moving the "symbol" off of the visible portion of the stage, and creating a motion tween to move it onto the stage.  The motion works, but the quality of the image in general (and the text in specific) looks pixelated.
    Thus, I did a little bit of snooping, and everyone said that you should start with a bitmap.  So I saved the image from Photoshop into .bmp format, and was able to set the properties to "allow smoothing" and with lossless compression.  So far, so good.  Now, as I expected, the transparency is no longer there...
    So here's the question:  how can I make this image retain its quality, still have transparency, and a motion tween?
    It seems like this is some set of characteristics that don't play well together, even though I see this type of thing online ALL the time.
    I tried "Trace Bitmap" to convert to a raster image, and tried to follow some suggestions online, but when I do "Trace Bitmap", it ends up looking like it has a bunch of grayish dots on the image... definitely NOT what I was expecting.
    Thanks for your help!
    JPB

    Go back to using the png, and set the smoothing allowance. That should take care of the quality.  In Flash, a "bitmap" will often refer to any type of image element... .bmp's are probably dinosaurs (as in extinct) where Flash usage is concerned.
