Flash Media Server stopped working

Hello All,
I am new to FMS and have been working on Flash Media Development Server.
My Setup:
I have a FMS and HTTP server on one machine A and all my swf's were kept there. I had one more machine B in a network, from which I was testing the swf's on Machine A.
Everything was running fine, until suddenly I could not access the swfs from Machine B.
Moreover, when i checked the Admin console in machine A, there was no client (referring Machine B) was connected to the FM Development Server.
What could have happened sosuddenly. In the swf that i tried connecting from Machine B, I debugged and found out that the swf was not able to connect to the FMS. (NetConnection.Connect.Failure)

Yes, I am referring the Machine A with its IP and the IP is static (at times if it changes, i make the necessary changes), so that part is clear.
And as far as the network level changes, i wonder, because till yesterday everything was working perfectly alright with the same conditions. It just suddenly started responding weird.
I had only enabled some port forwarding in my router and had included a virtual directory in webroot.
however, when i reverted back to my original settings, even then the same code ceases to work.

Flash Media Server Stops Streaming

We are running Flash Media Server version 2.0.3 r68. Lately,
for some reason FMS will simply stop serving content. When this
happens, the FMS service is running and there is nothing in the
logs indicating anything out of the ordinary. The only way to fix
the problem is to stop and restart the FMS service. After doing
this, FMS will work fine for several days before failing in exactly
the same way. Anyone have ideas what's going on or what will fix
this?

It seems a bit strange that this behavior started happening
"lately". Did you install some other piece of software or patch
recently? What is the load on the server? (cpu, connections,
memory, etc..)
When you say it stops serving content, does this mean that
you are able to connect to the application instance, but just not
able to play content?
If this behavior keeps happening capture the process state
while it is hung (use adplus -hang option on windows)

Flash media server stops accepting connection.

We have one application in which we are using flash media server 2.0.5. We dont know why it's stop taking connection occasionally at that time we can't enter into the managment console. We get a white screen. When we try to enter user name and password it's does not accpet the credentials. We are not getting anything in the log.
Port number 1935 and 1111 of the particular system where FMS has placed are working fine.
Does anybody have any idea why we are facing this problem?

That's a pretty old version, have you thought of upgrading?
There are a few reasons this could be happening. You could be reaching the limit for connections or bandwidth.
There could be a problem in your server side coding that is stalling the app.
There could be a problem with the service itself and it's maxing out on memory or CPU. I don't know why you are getting a white screen for anything, the management console has never been white for me and I suspect that it's more of a local computer problem unless it's the same computer you are running the service on..
Any more information on the license, server hardware or environment?

Flash media server only works local on server

i just installed a developers version of the flash media
server on a windows server.
i don't have any problems while starting my applications on
the server itself.
the problem only appears when i try to connect from a
different computer which is not located in this network,
at least a connection from "outside".
there is no firewall right now on that server that this can't
be the problem.
when starting the media server by the managment console i
also do login with the domain-name of the server and not with
localhost...locally all is working well...but not from outside.
i also try to test port 1935, 443 and 80, but none succeed
from outside.
what i also tried is to run a version of the flash
communication server 1.5 on my home pc also running a windows
server. in this case i had the same problems: could only get a
connection locally but not from outside...i.e. the connection to
the server failed.
anyone an idea?

FMS3 is officially support on Windows 2003 server &
RHEL-4 only.

[AIR 3.2 BUG] flash.media.scanHardware stop working.

From the adobe air Air 3.2 release day, a lot of support calls comeing in. Customer can't see any cameras in the our software!
Today, I find the problem. Adobe Air scanHardware() function stop working!!!!!

Ping Flash Media Server not working

I just installed trial FMS on my XP Pc and I also installed
IIS. I can login FMS control fine and see the applications ( this
website sample code) that are inside applications folder.
Unfortunately, the applications were not working, although the
server seemed fine. I study Macromedia Press book, I found it was
supposed to respond to a ping in the control panel. Yet, it always
show "failure to ping server Server1." I am new to FMS. Right now I
just want to get the sample code work . Any help will be highly
appreciated.

But i got a message "Connection to the Server Failed. Please try to rejoin the call".
We were not getting this problem before installation of anitvirus on our client machine. Now FMS gets down or we can say not accepting connection. Even at that time(server down condition) we can't enter into managment console of FMS. Sometime it start taking connection after one hour or two hour.

Does flash media server works with debian?

Yep, just take the redHat version and modify the installer
script, use update-rc.d where redhat use chkconfig, that's it,
worked fine for me except the server crash once in a while with no
reason, no problems found in the log, still searching if it's my
server hardware or a software (fms) problem... but I didn't run the
adminserver and it's stable now...

Does Flash Media Server work with Wirecast?

Does Flash Media Server work with the encoding software, Wirecast?
Do any of you have experience integrating the two? Good or bad ?
I'm currently using Red5, which doesn't work with Wirecast, but I'd like to be able to use Wirecast.

I'm very new at this and don't really understand :
if you've enabled SWF verification on the FMS side, and made an exception for the FMLe user-agent,
I haven't done anything as far as setting other verifications, etc. This is just a default install of the FMS 3.5 Developers version.
But I have tried all 3 user agents, still, none can connect. I still keep getting the "Can't publish stream... check credentials/tokens" error message 4020.
Any other thoughts/ideas?

FMLE not connecting to Flash Media Server

I have two laptops with windows 7 and FMLE 3.2 and FMS 4.5 in them. Laptop A is working perfectly with the default settings but i cannot connect to FMS with laptop B. I have tried turning windows firewall off, setting fmscore, fmscore and fmsmaster to run under administrator privileges.
The FMS starts correctly on laptop B (i compared the log-files on laptop a and b) and here is edge.00.log from laptop B (i censored my ip and host):

When i hit Connect button in FMLE i get the "Cannot connect to primary server" - error. When i change the FMS-Url to the ip-address of my laptop A i can connect to its FMS. The default FMS Url is rtmp://localhost/live and Stream: "mystream@38220" (this is working in laptop A).
I downloaded TCPView and compared whats happening with the laptops when i hit the Connect button. On laptop B FMLE sends bytes to FMSEdge and it responds with 1 byte and then nothing happens. On laptop A same thing happens but it opens up FMSCore and the stream starts going live.
Apparently the FMS had worked on laptop B before but then it stopped working due to reasons unknown. I tried reinstalling it with no results and now im clueless. I also tried the fmscheck and it said it cannot connect to FMS. It seems the FMSEdge is not behaving correctly or something is blocking the traffic between the programs. Please help.

I tried connecting to localhost:1935 with telnet and typing something and then watching what happens in TCPView. It says that the fmsedge process listening to port 1935 establishes the connection and receives the bytes, though it closes it after few seconds probably because it doesnt understand what data i sent. And when FMLE sends 1537 bytes to fmsedge it receives them but nothing happens.

Flash Admin Console shows no applications on my Flash Media Server?

My employer has a Flash Media Server that I wrote a little streaming video app for a couple years ago. Well, the videos have stopped working and I've been asked to troubleshoot. I fired up the fms_adminConsole.swf and connected to my server. Now, it's been a long time since I've messed with the server, but if I remember right, there was a big list of apps on the list on the left hand side of the "View Applications" view of the console. When I log in, there are no applications listed. If I hit the "New Instance" button under the empty list, I'm presented with a list of all the apps I think I should be seeing in the Applications list. If I select any of these, a new application instance appears in the applications list, and I'm prompted to give it a name, the default being "_definst_". If I hit enter to create this instance, it remains on the list and instance data appears on the right panel until the console refreshes, and then all that vanishes and I'm back to an empty applications list again.
Going to "Manage Servers", I do see a list of applications under the applications tab that I expect to see. The app that streams the video that's having problems is there on the list.
Is this typical behavior for the Flash Media Server Console? Shouldn't I have a list of apps in the "View Applications" section of the console? I've created about a dozen to date, and they're all listed under Manage Servers > Applications, but not under "View Applications". Can anyone point out if I'm doing something wrong here or missing something? Or can someone confirm that I SHOULD be seeing something under "View Applications" and that there is indeed something weird going on with the server.

What you are seeing is correct behaviour. Until and unless applications are loaded or some clients are connected to them, they wont be shown under view applications tab by default. Try connecting to one of the applications you have and then you will see it automatically gets listed there.

    I am running Flash Media Server 4.5.1 for Windows. I am using Windows 2008 R2 Server. Whenever I start my Flash Media Server, I get the following error in my Windows Event Log in the Application section.
The Apache service named reported the following error:

     FMS Apache Service is installed from the Adobe Flash Media Server installation program. When I start FMS from the "Start Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5" icon, it starts both the "Flash Media Server (FMS)" and "FMSHttpd" service. When I stop the FMSHttpd service I am not longer able to access my FMS server from http://myfmsserverip. Please advise.

Trying to buffer on Flash Media Server

Hi all, I am very embasarred about this as I should really have studied more but I am having massive difficulty in getting my videos to buffer from Flash Media Server 3.5. The videos are on the web and streaming fine so really I just need to put some actionscript in to make them work... sounds easy. Also, I come across an article by Fabio Sonatti which seems to offer the solution I need. He states the following script.

Now, please appreciate that I know very lkittle about ActionScript but I do know to change the path "rtmp etc etc" to the location of my video on the FMS, so thats fine. However this is where I have a problem I am afraid. I am 100% sure that I need to replace some other items within the code to make it work (as I get errors when I test the video in Flash) but I am afraid and embarassed that I have no idea which items to change. I know the code is perfect but I dont know what a NetStream is and this I think is letting me down.
I apologise in advance for being an idiot but I am just desperate to get these videos buffering, I know this is the codfe to do it but I need someone to just talk to me in dead simpl;e terms to put me in the right direction. Can anyone help ? : Many thanks : Dom

MediaPlayer.stop() will only stop playback of the stream, but not close the connection.
If you set MediaPlayer.media to null, then it will close the connection.

How to get list of logged-in users from Flash Media Server in a Flash programm? (Or login/logout notifications)

I'm Very sorry for asking this. I guess it's a very basic problem, but I'm very new to Flash and Flash media Server and I need a very fast answer...
Currently I'm working on a Director project using a flash program which connects to Flash Media Server (I guess version 3, it's quite old). Unfortunately they forgot to make a flash method to send the actual userlist (or a notification when someone logged in or out) to Director. AND, unfortunately, they lost the source code of that flash programm, so I cannot look into it or alter it *sigh*.
Now I want to do a new flash programm which covers the old one, letting all known methods "pass trough" and building an additional method to gain the user list (or login/out notification).
How do I get the login information from Flash Media Server? (Would be good if you could provide an idea already for flash code... as I said I'm a tard at flash till now)

Dimo Hristov: thanks for your offer! I already tried decompiling the flash program with the shareware version of Trillix Decompiler. It only decompiled the UI (in a terrible way) but no source code at all. It was the shareware version where I can decompile 2 or 3 programms to test the software. Are you sure the non-free version of Trilix Flash Decompiler will do..?

Windows Vista and Flash Media Server Streaming Problems

My company recently started using Flash Media Server to
stream audio and video content.
My boss just installed Windows Vista Ultimate and now no
streaming content will play at all. Simple Flash animations work,
but nothing that accesses the Flash Media Server for content. I've
uninstalled and reinstalled multiple versions of the Flash Player
on his machine but nothing seems to work. I also tried the new
"Reset" feature in IE that is supposed to return it to it's
shipping state and that didn't work. I navigated to the "System 32"
folder and ran the Flash Updater EXE. I downloaded and installed
all of the available updates through "Windows Update".
I also tested Flash Objects that stream video on Adobe.com
and they don't play either. Has anyone heard of this happening or
know what I need to do to fix it? I don't know if this is a bug in
the Flash Player or with Windows Vista.
