Flash Memory

I bought a flash memory but when I put data on it no problems
but when I remove the data from it it goes to a hidden folder that cannot be seen from a mac I have to open windows to see the ( Trash ) file and then when I remove it the storage capacity comes back
I bought so many kinds of flash Sony and sandisk but the same problem persist
when the os was 10.5 this problem was not there
please help me
MacBook Snow leopard 10.6.4

There really should be a nice Windows like quota system, too.
If you don't want to use .Trash, lock it out and deny write privilage.
I know a lot of things changed and I wonder what it is that affects this...?

  • Unable to boot from my USB Flash Memory Device

    Hi there,
I recently purchased a macbook pro with the lion 10.7.2 firmware.
I am experiencing problems with my USB Flash memory as when i plug it in it comes up fine on the desktop and i can browse it. The problem is that when i open up an application such as Adobe Fireworks or Netbeans (Java programming) and try and access files from my USB flash drive, my drive does not appear on the list/menu, it only comes up with my macbook pro documents etc.
I have asked friends with Mac's and they tell me they do not experience this problem. Please can you help me whether it is a problem with my settings or any other issues.
    Thank you.

Nope, I dont recieve any massages at all. It just doesnt appear.
Also usually you can drag a file into an application, for example drag an image into photoshop in order to open that image up but this does not work either.

  • How can I use my Zen Xtra like a flash memory

Hello, I want to know how can I use my MP3 player like a flash memory.
I have one and if I conect it with other computers I can't transfer documents and with a flash memory I conect it in all the computers with Windows XP and all of they detect the flash memory and they can transfer documents.
With my Zen Xtra I connect it and the computer detects it but I can't transfer anything because the computer doesn't have the software.
My question is.. Do I have to install the software in all the computers that I use ? or there are other forms to conects PC and MP3 Player? ( I want to transfer documents like text, image, etc)

But some MP3 players do that, why this one can't be connected with all the computers ?

  • I've bought a new USB flash memory. I plugged it in the USB port then a message come out: Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled.... Please help...

I don't know what to do. I plugged that USB in both ports but the same message came out. I charged my laptop and the same thing happened again. The surprising thing is that I tried plugging the USB in my cousins laptop (Macbook Pro) and it worked!!! but not with mine. The USB flash memory made by PNY. Please help...

There are two types of USB 2 devices - low power which consume 100 milliamperes or less from the USB bus and high power which consume up to 500 milliamperes. Your flash drive is probably a high power device and is overloading the USB bus of your computer. (Some notebooks can support only low power USB devices.)
I know that my MBP's USB ports support high power devices but I've come across reports that not all high power devices will work on the MBA and that might be the case for your flash drive. My guess is it has a large capacity? 32GB or more?

  • Can I install Windows ON a flash drive or on flash memory?

All over the internet I see questions from people wanting to install Windows from a USB flash drive with varying results, but my question is different.  I want to install Windows ON removable flash memory.  I would like to purchase a MacBook Air, but would like to also continue making use of Boot Camp without taking up too much of my limited hard drive space.  I've found fast 3.0 USB sticks and flash cards that would be nice, but can they be treated as a partition in order to install and run Windows?

Ignoring the fact that Windows doesn't really support booting from removable media (you might be able to force it if you are willing to build a custom installer), I can think of another reason you wouldn'r want to consider this.  Windows is notorious for heavy usage of the swap file, and I believe I recall reading one report where someone had managed to install Windows to a flash drive, and within 30-60 minutes, the OS had written to the swap file so much that the flash memory was beginning to fail.  Remember that each time you write to flash memory, it cases a small amount of damage to the memory, and after a significant number of writed, it will fail.  Regretfully, the Woindows swap file will cause this threshhold to be reached very quickly, and then you start getting write errors...

  • Installing LabVIEW DSC 8.6 Run Time on Windows XP Embedded flash memory

I'm trying to install LabVIEW DSC 8.6 Run Time on an embedded PC running Windows XP Embedded. This has a small local disk (c), so I would like to install DSC Run Time on a secondary flash memory drive (d). The installer tells me that I don't have enough free space on drive c, but I cannot browse to select drive d. What do I need to do to get this installed?
    Thanks,
    Josh

The DSC module can't easily be installed to external flash memory. You'll want to move any extra data onto the flash drive to free up space on the internal memory for installing the DSC module.

  • USB flash memory: "application not found" error

When recently trying to use a USB flash memory stick I was getting an "f:\ application not found" error. I tried all kinds of fixes from Microsoft. Turns out it was caused by Lightroom.
Since the memory stick had photos on it, my computer's Autoplay was trying to launch Lightroom. Problem is, Lightroom is listed as "Lightroom 4.0 64" in the Autoplay menu. I have Lightroom 4.4.  As far as I can tell, there's no way I can fix the incorrect "Lightroom 4.0 64" listing.  The solution is to remove Lightroom from any Autoplay options.
This is the second such problem I've had with Lightroom.  The previous problem was right clicking on a photo file and trying to use the "open with" menu.  It worked fine when I had Lightroom 4.3.  After updating to Lightroom 4.4, it didn't work. Another Lightroom user found a workaround, which was to rename the Lightroom 4.4 folder back to Lightroom 4.3.
These are both lazy Adobe oversights. You have to realize all the Windows functions that will be affected with an update and make sure they are updated as well. I spent half a day solving this latest USB flash memory error. Get your updating act together.

You don't mention your OS or which version of Outlook you're using.

  • Why my macbook pro freezes when I export pictures to usb flash memory

I am a new mbp user and mainly organize my travel pictures using my macbook but recently I cannot export my pictures to "burn" or copy to other flash memory.
I have been diligently backing up using the time machine but as the file size grows i think I am running out of memory. Or is that the reason why?
    Can anybody help?
    Many thanks

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Does X-Fi have built in Flash Memory or internal Hard Driv

I can't find any specs on whether the X-Fi's internal storage is flash memory or if it uses a hard dri've.
I know about the SD card slot and I am not referring to that which of course is flash memory. I mean the 8/6/32 gig storage depending on the model.
    Anyone know?

    Hi Merkaba777,
The ZEN X-Fi is flash memory based.

  • Macbook Pro SATA drive vs Macbook Pro Retina with flash memory?

How fast does the macbook pro with Retina Display and Flash memory work than the macbook pro with SATA hard drive with same configuration?

    kent.229,
given those uses — PowerPoint, Word, Safari, photo storage — you could probably keep your existing MacBook Pro, replace its internal disk with a SSD, and purchase an external drive to store your photos, at a fraction of the price of a replacement MacBook Pro. (You should also purchase an additional external drive for use as a Time Machine backup destination, if you’re not already doing so — you wouldn’t want to lose 10,000 photos due to a filesystem glitch.)

  • Exporting Music From iTunes To Flash/Memory Stick

So I did a search and the most relevant thread I could find is this one: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5923574&#5923574
Basically I'm going on a road trip with a friend who has a stereo head unit with a USB port, so you can plug in flash/memory sticks/cards (I'm spacing on the true terminology here). He asked if I bring along some tunes.
So I have a 2 gig stick that I want to load up.
Is it as easy as that thread above says? Make sure the tunes are in mp3 format, highlight, copy then paste?
Or is there an easier/better way to do this?
    Thanks in advanced.
    MM

If the stereo will play AAC, you can do that.
If it only accepts MP3, you will need to convert them.
iTunes prefs -> Advanced - Importing.
    Set it to MP3.
Create a new playlist and add all the songs you want to convert.
    Select all the songs.
Go to menu Advanced -> Convert selection to MP3.
When it's done, delete the playlist you just created.
    Create a new Smart playlist;
    Match rule;
    Date created is today
    Kind contains MPEG Audio
This should show everything you just converted.
Select all the songs and drag to the flash drive.

  • Erasing Flash Memory of Spartan 3E FPGA

    Hello,
I'm programming a Spartan 3E FPGA, and I believe there are a few VIs left in the flash memory from the previous user of the board. I'd like to just clear out the flash memory. 've been playing around and can't seem to find how to clear it through LabView on a spartan.
I've already had a look at this.
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4789525480C3B78C8625714000746BFD\
It should be pretty simple, anyone know how to go about it?
    thanks in advance!

Are you referring to the platform flash (XCF04, this can be used to automatically-configure the FPGA on powerup) or the Strataflash (which cannot easily be configured to do so, but can be used for persistent storage)?
If it's the former, I would suggest using iMPACT to clear the flash part.  For the later, there are a few examples that interact with the Strataflash, that's as good a starting point as any.
