Flash menu screen and related .swf "blank"?

Unable to always obtain Flash menu screen (and related .swf file). This is really odd! On some rare occassions it is possible to successfully create flash output but most times not. As the number of successes are rare, I can't analyse & determine what is going on (output to DVD & Blu-ray is fine but can't get flash)??

That sounds a little severe. Have you made any changes at all to your Mac - changed graphics cards or anything? Also, do you use a font management app like suitcase? If you do, have you turned off any of the fonts DVDSP uses as part of the system? I know it sounds odd, but this has caused all kinds of issues for people in the past and the only resolution was to turn on the system fonts again.
Have you run a hardware test (using the Apple hardware check disc that your mac came with)? I am no expert on any of this stuff, but check your graphics card... I had one with bad memory and many, many glitches started to appear which just got worse over time. Changed the graphics card and all was fine.

  • TS1440 My start up stop on the Flashing folder screen, and I can not boot my mac...

I just tried to restore my Macbook Air (2011), and something goes wrong, because now there is a Flashing Folder with ? Mark on it... And even if I Start Up the system with the "option" button pressed, the HD icons does not appear...
    What I do?

Question (?) Mark, Blinking Folder, or Gray Screen at Startup
These are related but not identical issues. Their causes are outlined in Intel-based Mac- Startup sequence and error codes, symbols. Solutions may be found in:
A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac
Mac OS X- Gray screen appears during startup
In most cases the problems may be caused by:
Problem with the computer's PRAM - See Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM.
Boot drive's directory has been corrupted - Repair with Disk Utility.
Critical system files are damaged or deleted - Reinstall OS X.
The disk drive is physically non-functional - Replace the hard drive.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
The main difference if you are using Lion or Mountain Lion is that you must first boot from the Recovery HD:
    Boot From The Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstall Snow Leopard Without Erasing The drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. 2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing The Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Flash menu reloads and therefore collapses

I have a site prototype at
    http://www.olsonzaltman.com/prototype.
The menu is one I've customized using the coding brainwork of Ian
Kelleigh of www.freehandsource.com. Many thanks to him. My problem
is that shy of using frames, I can't get the menu to NOT reload
each time a link is clicked. The beauty of the menu is that it
stays open to aid in user-orientation. Is there a simply way around
this or does the solution involve major coding and a completely
    flash-based site? Thanks. John

The elements on the page will reload on each page view, that
will restart the timeline of your flash menu. You can pass
variables back to the flash movie, but that is not an easy fix.
I'm not sure, but the folks at JumpEye may have a menu
component that could help. Check them out:
    http://www.jumpeyecomponents.com/
    2 easiest options:
    Load content into iFrames.
(downside: not the best coding structure you could be using
and there is a good chance you could hurt their SEO)
Make menu files for each section. Load individual menus for
    each section.
(downaide: pain the the ___ to update unless you use XML)
My vote would be to consider Javascript for this menu. There
are many accordion menu options that could be retooled and resemble
what you have here. It would also remove the iFrames, SEO and other
issues. I'm not a Flash snob, but there are compelling reasons not
    to use it for menus.
    cheers,
    Ken

  • Z3 Battery died, keeps flashing Sony screen and vibrating when connected to wall charger

I have had my phone connected to the wall charger for hours now and it just keeps flashing the Sony Xperia screen and vibrating. The LED light turns on for a second then turns off. It's like it is stuck in a loop.

Hi Thomas1, welcome to the community!
If the LED light does not come on when the phone is connected to a power source then I advise contacting Sony Xperia Customer Care in your region. You can find the contact details by clicking the link in my signature.

  • Flashing Red Screen and freezing

I am needing help please. I have bought a macbook pro (Last Nov. 2009) version 10.6. with a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and I have 4 GB memory. I have been taking advantage of the macupdate software packages and I am not sure if new software is causing my problem. My computer has frozen lately when doing a few tasks at once. Most often when working with picture software. The most disturbing is when my computer goes to the screen saver which was one of the software products I purchased: My Living Desktop Scenes, the screen begins to flash red and only stops when I touch a key or other to take it out of the screen saver. I have had the living desktop software installed for weeks now and I have only had this problem start recently. The last package of software I bought was the Mac Graphoto 2 applications (Image framer, Sandvox, snapshot, sketch, layers, postern etc...). I have really only used image framer and postern so far. The problems seem to have begun after downloading some of this software. What should I do? I have five days before my 1 year warranty runs out. Do these software bundles cause more problems than they are worth or maybe have nothing to do with my problem?? Any help is appreciated.
P.s My computer also seemed to be slowing down whether working with applications or being on the internet, so I followed another threads suggestion on shutting the computer down and holding the power button for five seconds and then shutting down and holding the control, P and R buttons and this seems to have helped speed but not the flashing or freezing. Hope this is enough detail.

I have a Mac Mini (2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory) and I am also having the same issues with the red screen. No Living desktop on my desktop...just a solid red - sometimes flashing red screen....no sound at all....when I move the mouse to unlock the screen - the sound comes back briefly and the login window appears.
Any resolutions to this problem? Thanks in advance.

  • HP Photosmart C309g Flashes White Screen and Won't Turn On

    Hello there,
I am having issues with my HP Photosmart C309g. When I turn it on, the screen flashes blue for a moment and has an error code that changes every time. (I can't read it because it is up for less than a second.) Then the screen flashes white on and off until I unplug it. The printer is only about 2 years old. I have already tried isolating the printer, but that didn't help. What should I do to fix it?
    Thanks,

  • Capturing a reference machine Start screen and Apps are blank

    Hello Everyone,
I'm having troubles with the start screen and app screen when deploying a Windows 8.1 image with SCCM 2012 R1.
While building the image, I've tried with both OOBE and not.  Installed all the drivers, and base software.
Capturing works fine, I created a bootable capture disc via SCCM.
    Without OOBE
When I deploy the image, logging in locally, works fine, all tiles and apps show up like normal, but when I join the computer to the domain, logging in as any domain user (they're administrators as well) all the tiles and apps disappear
    With OOBE
No tiles show up, not even as local admin.
I've read a few articles, and a lot of others are having the same problem, and their only fix is to use ImageX or MDT.   I'm wondering if this has been resolved yet as I rather use SCCM 2012 as the "all in one" tool that it's meant to be.

    Thank you in advanced!

This version does not exist. Is it SP1? Which CU?
Keep in mind that you have to have SP1 CU3 in order to use Win8.1:

  • Flashing grey screen and background pic when log in, can't access anything!

Please bare with me, this is a long one since I'm including every little detail in hope that it helps my desperate situation. I have been receiving "startup disk is full" messages for about a month now on the MacBook Air OS X Version 10.8.5 I bought new last summer. I am currently traveling throughout Asia with limited internet access, but am working from the road, which makes having a working computer critical. I checked online and followed all the advice I understood on how to clear up space: moved all my documents and pictures to Box/Dropbox, deleted unused applications, and emptied my general trash and iPhoto trash. This only stopped the startup disk full messages for a week before they started coming up again and again. I checked my storage and it said the "Other" was taking up most of the space. I realize that this could mean any number of things.I downloaded omnidisksweeper, but didn't want to risk deleting anything when I didn't what they were for. If I remember correctly, of the things I recognized, it said that my Mail was taking up a lot of space, but that made sense since I have 3 large accounts I work from. I deleted the couple files that were in the "recovered" file. Last week one of my email accounts kept resenting me the same 30 messages for a couple days. I couldn't figure out why. A couple days ago, I went to turn on my laptop after shutting it down the night before. I was able to log into my user, but once I logged in, my background picture and this blank, grey screen started alternately flashing. My dock on the bottom does not show up. In the top right corner it shows my Dropbox box icon (which I can click on and it says it's up to date, but nothing happens when I try to open it) but none of the rest (battery, Internet icons, etc). When I click on the apple in the leftmost corner nothing happens. In the top left corner the Finder toolbar shows up, but the drop down menus only open sometimes. When I click on anything from the drop down menus nothing happens. Sometimes a window pops up that says that "the last time you opened Finder, it unexpectedly quit while reopen ing windows. Do you want to try to reopen again?" The the meantime that grey screen is still flashing in the background. I have chosen "don't reopen" and "reopen" before, but nothing happens. I tried pressing down control, command, delete as suggested but nothing happens. I end up having to hold down the power button, and choose the shut down when the usual shut down, restart, sleep message shows up. I am able to access the Guest User account without problems and created a new User. However, the disk is, of course, still full, so I'm right back where I started, except that I'm unable to access my main user account that actually has all my stuff on it. I searched online and haven't been able to find anything similar to my situation. Please give me any suggestions you might have, I'm in Indonesia at the moment and have nowhere I can take it for help, but still need to work! I'm not very tech savvy (obviously), so please try to be specific! I've run the disk utility "Verify Disk" thing but it says everything's ok. I downloaded omnidisksweeper again onto the new user I created with the limited space I have available, but don't really understand what anything on it means! It says that most of the space is taken up as follows: 9.5GB private, 4.5 GB applications, 3.7 GB system, 3.6 GB library.
Is there anything  specific I should be looking for? Is there anything I can do to get my original user account to work?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you don't remember the password, you have to reset it. As you have a new MacBook, you are using OS X Mountain Lion, so follow these steps > http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4101

  • White menu screen and white viewer screen

I'm having a problem with all visuals related to projects. Any template or video I add does not show up except for outlines. This is happening with past projects as well and only just began about a week ago. I've switched Final Rendering, dumped prefs. After dumping prefs, I'll load a known working project and is shows just fine. But, as soon as I click anywhere on the screen, everything turns to white. This happens in Menu and Viewer tabs. I hear audio but no video. Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot close user. 'settings' flash on screen and then disappear.  Force Quit does not solve it

Applemac used by members of family.  One will not close, although I access via the drop down menu top right to change user.  I have tried Force Quit (its stuck on Safari) but even that does not work.  I thought I would look at settings, but it flashes up, then disappears. It is my husbands account and I have no idea what he has done!!  Would like to be able to see settings and also to close as necessary.  Help

You can use the Activity Monitor app to force quit apps as well. Activity Monitor is located in HD > Applications > Utilities

  • 20" imac won't start up-flashes between blank grey screen and black screen

    20" imac
    2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Was running system 10.5.8 just fine. Worked great.
But then I wanted to give the imac to a relative. And so, I tried to boot from the original grey mac install dvd to wipe the hardrive and set the imac back to factory specs.
But it wouldn't boot off the dvd. All It would do at restart was to flash slowly back and forth between blank grey screen and black screen. So, I tried the Leopard update dvd. Same results. So I zapped the pram and tried again. Same results.
If I just pushed the start button tho.. the imac would start right up and run fine. However, I didn't want to give it to someone else with all our information on it.
I finally restarted it and held the "T" key to turn it into a giant firewire drive, hooked it up to our other 20" imac, and used the disk utility from the second imac to erase the drive of the first imac. Then I inserted the grey install dvd into the second imac and selected the drive of the first imac and ran the install process.
Now, the first imac won't start up at all. Just a continual grey screen for a bit, than a couple of buzz sounds in the machine and then the black screen... than back again.
It ran great before I erased the drive and re-installed OS 10.5
What's wrong? How do I get the machine to either boot off the install cd?

So, I've figured out a little more on the first machine. It's a 20" 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running 10.5.8.
It ran great. But, I wanted to erase the hard drive and reinstall the OS system before giving it to a relative.
I found that although the optical drive would read and write to normal cds and dvds, the machine would NOT boot from the grey start-up disks I had on hand. ( I have two imacs, and I tried both sets of dvds without success.)
I zapped the PRAM, and used disk utilities via firewire connection from my other 20" imac to check the hardrive and make repairs. Disk Utilities couldn't find any problems. So, using disk utilities from the other imac, I erased the first imac's harddrive and then used the install dvds on the second imac to install the original OS to the hard drive of the first imac.
(looking on the hard drive of the first imac, I can see all the contents)
However, the first machine will not start up. It just switches from grey....to black..... then grey..... and then black again.... over and over
Why won't it boot from the newly installed OS on it's own hard drive?
And Why won't it boot from the original install dvds?
How can I get it to start up again?

  • Installed latest sec update and have flashing menu bar - cannot login

I also just installed the latest security update running 10.3.9 with a original 1ghz 17" powerbook.
Trying to boot afterwards I end up with a flashing menu bar and no disk icon on the desktop - obviously I can't login (set to single user)
Trying to repair permissions with a CD boot results in an "internal error" with the disk utility. Disk repair reports no problems. The program then cannot continue, and I have to hold the power button to get it to shut down.
    Any ideas???
This is the LAST time I use the auto update!!!
