Flash_MMIO_MAP DeviceIoControl error

LiveUpdate & Live Monitor don't seem to want to run on my system. After LiveUpdate installing and rebooting I get several messages saying "Device not started". Then I get "Flash_MMIO_MAP DeviceIoControl error" when starting LiveUpdate. This is a new system build within the past 2 week. Any suggestions?

Well .. liveupdate3 appearently miss some xp64 support in it's embedded drivers.
Livemonitor is btw useless as it monitor drivers at MSI , when you really would need that kind of app to
monitor what's released at nvidia or ati .
That leaves just liveupdate for bios upgrading which can be performed manually via dos boot and awfl anyway .

  • Live Update 3 will fail on Windows Vista Home Premium

    Hi,
I have a P6N Diamond motherboard with BIOS 1.0, in a Windows Vista Home Premium system
I have downloaded Live Update 3 and tried to run it. I get various error messages one after another: "driver not valid", "Flash_MMIO_MAP DeviceIoControl error", etc, and then I have to close down Internet Explorer to be able to get back to a normal situation in the system.
Can you please let me know how to update the BIOS?
    Thanks.

Go in BIOS and make sure USB Legacy Support is Enabled(can be named USB KB/Storage Support), re-try to boot from your USB key again.
    If no change:
Use HP Formatter(http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/32594.asp) to change USB key geometry, format the USB key in FAT32 via HP Tool.
/* some USB keys are picky, and they need a special conditional to boot from it, Forum Tool is using the existing drive parameters */
Then re-run Forum Tool, when its done reboot PC and boot again from it.

  • Updating BIOS on N9600GT-T2D-1G

    Hi,
I am trying to update the bios on my graphics card as there is a update available, but I keep on receiving this error "'Flash_MMIO_MAP DeviceIoControl error'' and another saying graphics card is not found.
I was hoping to get it updated, as I noticed there are occasional singular scan lines that appear when playing games.
Any ideas on how to update this is Vista x64 please?

  • KT6V Quirky Problems

I’m just beginning the process of upgrading my computer, and over the weekend swapped out an older Epox MoBo for a new MSI KT6V-LSR. I got everything hooked up and running, but I’m experiencing some strange problems. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I’m going a bit loopy  , and my wife is beginning to do a slow burn!
There are three facets to the problem, or possibly three separate problems...
First, every third or fourth time I boot the system I get a Boot Failure error.     The error reads “Reboot and select proper Boot Device, or insert boot media in selected boot device.”
Now nothing’s changed from one time to the next… and all I have to do is hit the reset switch and most times it boots right up and loads the operating system. When I first installed the system the boot sequence defaulted to: Boot Device 1 – disabled, Boot Device 2 – WD Hard Drive, Boot Device 3 – Boot from LAN. I changed this to: Boot Device 1 – WD Hard Drive, Boot Device 2 – TKD CD-ROM, Boot Device 3 – disabled. I’ve since switched it back to the original default settings, and it doesn’t seem to matter. The Boot Failure error shows up no matter which way its set.
Second, I have not yet been able to get the motherboard to acknowledge the Sony 1.44 mb floppy drive I’ve got installed. It might just be a bad cable, but its strange that it worked fine before I swapped out motherboards, and doesn’t seem to work now.
Finally, I’m getting a series of strange error messages from CoreCenter… but only in two of the three “logins” I’ve got set up. I’m running Windows XP Home Edition with SP1. I have three logins set up: one for myself (set as the system administrator), one for my wife, and one for the kids (who have their own computer, but sometimes need to use ours if they’re both working on homework at the same time). These errors DO NOT show up on my login… but DO show up under my wife’s and the kids!
The errors are as follows, and show up in this order:
         1) Error – The handle is invalid.
         2) CoreCenter: Failed to load hardware monitor driver.
         3) VBIOS – Flash_MMIO_Map DeviceIoControl error
         4) CoreCenter – No hardware monitor.
         5) CoreCenter – CoreCenter does not support your motherboard!
Apparently CoreCenter only supports my motherboard when I’m using it! (kidding) Though my wife doesn't find that very amusing.
The Antec TruePower 380S power supply that came with my Sonata case is capable of outputting a maximum of 360 watts, and is rated as follows:
         +3.3 v = 28 a
         +5 v = 35 a
         +12 v – 18 a
The rest of my system is shown below. Okay, any ideas?    Besides bashing my head agains a wall that is. Where do I go from here?

Wow! I’m still not entirely convinced that I’ve seen the last of these troubles, but I’ve got to tell you that things are looking good.
First, I couldn’t agree with you more Fredrik. I was sitting in a meeting at work today and it suddenly dawned on me… why do I need CoreCenter when I can get all of the information and make all of the tweaks with other software or though the BIOS. So I had determined to take it out of my Startup menu when I got home. No more nagging CoreCenter error messages.
Then, when I got home, I read the post from Wonkanoby, and dug into the “Moan Guide” with enthusiasm. Sure enough, when I removed the jumper from my WD hard drive and rebooted everything worked fine. I’ve rebooted the computer seven or eight times just to be sure… and – cross your fingers – so far it hasn’t misfired once!    If it does fail to boot at some point I’ve still got the Boot Device 1 disabled or floppy delay that gilles mentions to play with… but I’m betting that won’t be necessary.
I'm really impressed with the level of knowledge of the members of this forum… as well as your commitment to help out those less knowledgeable unfortunates such as myself. You guys (and gals?) are amazing.
Thank you cdm, KenD, pterhune, gilles, Wonkanoby, and Fredrik Åsenius. I appreciate all of your efforts to assist me.

I have the same problem with this following error trying to install the Dual Core Center 2.0.0.6 : "runtime error. Could not call proc".
How can I fix the problem ? I use Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 64.
In other words, MSI Dual Core Center does not support Windows Vista 64.  You can try CoreTemp, but again since you have x64 you need to read this:  http://www.alcpu.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=211

  • GTX 275 Lightning Issues - Need Bios

I have a GTX 275 1792mb Lightning model, the one with the cool dual aftermarket fans. I've been getting blue screens ever since I installed it, and the games run very choppy when applying AA it seems. I've used several sets of msi drivers and several nvidia drivers(including the latest one). It can't be my psu because I was running a gtx295 in this system without issue, so it can't be any components of my system since a gtx295 is basically two 275s.
I notice that when I first got the card the red/blue/green light would always remain on. When I use the lightning afterburner utility the green led light on the card would stay on.
And now when I try to launch afterburner it will have these pop windows that say either:
    Error: schmanager==NULL
    and
    VBIOS: Flash_MMIO_MAP DeviceIoControl error
I'm thinking maybe the vga bios is some how corrupt. I've looked around the net and can't find it. Like I said I've tried all drivers, and even flashed my motherboard bios to the latest version...and flashed it to some older versions just to see if it would make a difference.
I'd like to rule out the vga bios if possible as a last resort, so if someone has the gtx275 lightning bios please let me get it from you so I can try to resolve this issue. I really don't want to have to return this product back to newegg. I really love the design with the dual fans and heat sink. I tried contacting msi customer tech support but they won't give me the bios, and they say they don't have it which I find a bit odd. I have flashed the vga bios before so I'm not some noob that doesn't know what they are doing.
I could also make a copy of my gtx275 lightning bios and send it to someone to see if maybe they can figure out if something is wrong with it.

    I'm running a corsair 750 watt PSU
    Q660
    Gigabyte g31 motherboard
    1TB WD Hard drive
    OCZ 1066mhz of ram
And I recently swapped the lighting with a gtx 260 and see what would happen in the same system. The GTX260 ran games smoothly, and would run furmark fine with the newest nvidia drivers. Swap back the gtx 275 lightning, and games are really slow and choppy especially when you add any kind of AA. The FPS is literally cut in half when I switched to the msi gtx 275. I think it's safe to say that the GTX275 is defective.

  • Does MSI Live Update 3 work on Vista Home Premium 64?

    Hi All,
Simple question: Does MSI Live Update 3 work on Vista Home Premium 64?
I get lots of errors like: This handle is invalid" / "This service has not been started" / "Flash_MMIO_MAP DeviceIoControl error"
    Help!
    Thanks,
    C.

Here are all drivers for your mainboard:
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1332

  • System reboots when switching users.

I have looked through the boards and can't find reference to this problem.
When switching users in Windows XP Pro SP2, from a power user to my admin acct. the sys will reboot after core center loads. The other users are not looged off of XP by way of fast user switching.
If other users log on while the admin acct. is still active, no problem and I can also log back into the admin acct. w no problem.
Additionally when logging in to a non-admin acct. the following error messages appear.
Hadrware Monitor  failed to load Drive 1 .... Invalid  handle
(Core Center) No hardware Monitor .... Invalid handle
    (VBIOS) FLASH_MMIO_MAP DeviceIOControl Error.
If the items are not connected please piont me to the proper forum.

First late me comment on what a great library this forum has. It would seem that most issues are covered and often repeated. Some time may be involved to find a solution, but hard work is it's own reward.
Looking through the threads I've seen several referencves to doing a clean install after installing a new MOBO. I have not done this yet. So I have prepared a slipstreamed Win XP SP2 CD (as suggested in the threads). Before I continue I have to ask for a few suggestions.
First-- I will be removing all attached components and periphials (video, sound and externals) withe the exception of the mouse and keyboard. I will set the bios to boot from the CD. So what I would like to know is if my HD config is acceptable and is there a preferred order to connect other devices after install and all updates?
The 20 gig HD has been reformatted (NTFS) in 2 partitions, Zdrive is 1500mb for swap/page file(as per forum). This drive wasn't doing anything on my sys anyway. I only used it to try linux and I didn't have the patience to figure it out.
After all drivers are installed is it possible to use the programs installed on the old drive, or should the be re-installed also. I can save all important data if this must be done (ie. saved games, documents, photos etc.).
Last this is a shared machine w/teens. I have been through a lot to eliminate and protect my self from adware/ spyware and will continue to do so. I would like to keep the user profiles (Power Users) so that games and other software can be used without needing the admin password. This may be off topic but any suggestions would be helpful.

  • Error code 170 (ERROR_BUSY) for DeviceIOControl - Target is SAS HBA

    Hi,
This is about ERROR_BUSY response (Code 170) received for DeviceIOControl call.
Our development platform is Windows 7 and target device is SAS HBA 12G and 2 SSD devices connected.
First SSD device is directly connected to one HBA port. Second SSD is connected to other port of same HBA
through power control board so that we can switch off and on the power to the SSD.
I am sending commands to the first SSD device. Commands are sent and response is received to the application.
But when i switch off power to second SSD, Command sent to first SSD is interrupted and received the error code
as 170 (ERROR_BUSY) from DeviceIOControl function.
We have developed our own minport driver for SAS HBA. We analyzed the driver logs and identified whatever commands
received through BuildIO and StartIO, ISR (response) is received.
During Power off/on cycle, Report LUNS (0xA0) and Inquiry (0x12) commands are received from Windows storport driver.
Is it something like when there is a change detected (Add/Remove device) in the Bus, Storport driver does enumeration and if any commands are received during this enumeration, it will return the status for the command as ERROR BUSY).
    Please clarify this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Raphel

    Hi Raphel,
Storport enumeration process is an internal process that won't affect other requests. e.g. after device enumeration and some pnp requests in OS, you should see the device is started from device manager. In this state, the device stack serves incoming request.
During the device re-enumeration process, Storport won't fail IO with busy status. It may hold IOs and send them to miniport/device once re-enumeration completes.
Is there any filter driver on the storage stack? You may want to enable ETW trace for Storport to understand the status returned from this layer.
    Thanks,
    Michael Xing [MSFT]

  • DPM 2012 VSS Errors

We have our DPM 2012 R2 installation on Windows 2008 R2 servers. We encounter failures some of the time on our Full Express Backups on Friday evenings where we get VSS errors in the event logs.

    Event 12289
We haven't encountered these issues until recently. Is there any idea on how to remedy these. I just installed DPM 2012 R2 this week so I am hoping it helps. But does anyone know if there is a hotfix or something for this in case it does not. I read about
these events having a hotfix for Windows 2003 servers but not Win2K8?

  • VSS Error 2008R2

    Hi,
I have a problem. Got a 2TB drive, with 1,1TB free space plugged to a 2008 R2 server. And since 2 months I get a ID 12289 application log error, with a description like this:
    DeviceIoControl(\\?\Volume{xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx}
    00000000000001D4,0x0053c008,000000000015C010,0,000000000011B5C0,4096,[0]).  hr = 0x80070079.
Tried various registery solutions, but nothing changes. Every time I try to manually backup the server I get the same error and the service stops.
    Please help.

    Hi,
The issue could be caused by a 3rd party Service or startup items on the server. Boot your server in Clean Mode and try the backup operation to see if the issue still exists.

  • Windows Vista: Ipod Error Message, no longer read by PCs

    Hello,
I have a 5th generation black ipod video with 30GB of memory.
The other day I hooked it up to my laptop (Toshiba, 4 months old) that it's been functioning on with no problems whatsoever. This weird error message flashed twice about it not being able to sync because of some software problem.
Eversince then, the only thing I can charge my ipod on is the family treadmill in the basement (~_~) as no other computer in the house recognizes it. I can't even charge it through the wall sockets, either.
I have changed the ipod cord, still no luck. I've also reset the device about 3 or 4 times and uninstalled, restarted the laptop then reinstalled itunes. I would like to reset it back to factory settings but that's impossible as computers/laptops don't pick it up. I live very far from a Mac store...
What's a girl to do? I can't live without my Busta Rhymes and Wu-Tang Clan!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
