Flash movie file size rather large?!
just created my first flash movie, but it is 25 mins long and
is 264mb in size!
is this normal, or can i get this file size down some how
without reducing the length of the movie or the quality where it is
not reasonable.
I have seen stuff on myspace and seen movie longer and the
quality is fair good, but does the files size have to be this much,
if so myspace must have 100000000 of gigs !!!
any advise is appreaciated.
hi again.
i have just saved the SWF file and when i play it, it does
not show the whole movie, it only shows about 80% of it length and
height.
what i mean by this is the following...
for example.. this is the whole movie screen size
but i only get this size
the right size and botton parts of the movie are cropped off
the screen
i have just uploading it to my site to test it out there too,
and the same thing happen there.
www.roundshaw.com/swf
does anyone know why does it not show the whole movie?
please advise what i should do next to fix this.
i have looked at the help files but have no idea where to
look as i do not know exactly what problem i am looking for in the
files.
thanks

Flash CS5 File Size 1800% larger than CS3/4
We have 500+ FLAs that are essentially a sequence of PNGs loaded into the timeline, with a bit of AS3 code thrown in for the controller.
If we import the PNGs into a new, empty Flash CS3/4 document, add the document class and save the file, the resulting .fla is approx. 800Kb.
If we import the PNGs into a new, empty Flash CS5 document, add the doc class and save the file, the resulting .fla is 18Mb.
The resulting Published SWFs are within 1Kb of each other regardless of version, so it's clearly nothing to do with the content or the exporter.
Anyone know what's going on? This has just jumped our storage requirements through the roof.
Thanks
TUpdate: in case anyone asks, the total size of all PNG assets is about 2.5Mb. Clearly CS3/4 is using some kind of RLE compression on the PNGs, which is fine. But that doesn't account for the additional 16Mb. What the heck is CS5 throwing in there?

Can you Export Flash Movie files to other formats?? Don see
an Export to other File options.
Would like to Export a Flash Movie or SWF file to a Quicktime
or IPOD MPEG File.
Anyone know where to do this? Do not see an Export to File
option to that Format on Flash Pro CS.
ThanksWithout seeing your movie, its difficult to tell where the
problem may be. My first guess is that the data rate is to high.
You will probably need to choke that back in some way: lower the
data rate for the compressor, reduce the frame rate, reduce the
image size, reduce the color depth, etc.
When you select to export to QT, for example, a new window
opens to let you select some basic settings. At the lower right of
that window is a button titled "Quicktime Settings...". Click that
button and a new window will open that will allow you to set the
compressor, frame rate, quality, etc. -
Resizing Flash Movie to Size of Site
I am developing a html Web site with a flash intro
and need help because I am learning all over again, not having done
it in 3 years.
The screen is to start out white and fade to silver, which I
did quite nicely after many frustrating moments of relearning and
conditioning and realized it was quite simple. The movie is 600x400
and I developed the site at 1028x768 with my html layer for the
site at: <div id="Layer1" style="position:absolute; left:125px;
top:7px; width:686px; height:623px; z-index:1">. The flash movie
layer is: <div id="Layer1" style="position:absolute; left:128px;
top:-68px; width:602px; height:424px; z-index:1"> which I
changed to the html one and it did not work.
Then I went back to Flash and tried to change the movie size.
Well that was a trip. The stage is somehow off center to the right
and when I used the hand to move it, it did not work
Anyway, what I am trying to do is start the page off with a
white background full screen and have the flash movie start out as
white with a black dot and then fade to silver until the dot turns
into the logo. The flash movie does this, but I can't figure out
how to put it on the first page so when viewed the user will only
see the movie and not the movie with a white background. Also can't
figure what glitched when I was playing with it to get the stage
off centered.
If you want to see the movie, I can show you and please no
jokes because the item my friend is selling is a bit different but
highly used
Thank you in advance...StarShineAm I missing something or your long story has nothing to do
with "Resizing Flash Movie to Size of Site"?
If you want your flash file to be displayed full
size in browser window try setting the "width" and "height"
parameters in "object" and "embed" tag to "100%". -
What can I do for "File size too large"?
Spent 9 hrs creating a slideshow that I saved. Closed PSE 11 and reopened and can no longer find the slideshow. When I select Find, Media type, Project, nothing appears, but there is a gray box in my grid that says "File size too large". Is this my slideshow and if so how can I recover it? I am sick as this was a large time investment for my daughter's wedding which is very soon! Please help if you can.
I don't know anything about slide shows but if a picture is too large this is just a warning message, if I click a pic with this message it does show up. Have you tried clicking the thumbnail?

Export for flash-movie file conversion.
I want to prepare files for the highest quality possible for conversion to flash-movie files. I recorded in HDV- edited in HDV- send to Color in HDV- and now my question is if I should send it to FCP from Color in 10 bit-uncompressed to keep the highest quality?
Also at the end exporting from FCP- should I change my sequence settings? Again I need the very highest quality for later conversion to a flash-movie file, and was told that uncompressed is the way to go??
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks- Adam."Keeping" the quality isn't really the issue-- if you're working in HDV, there's nothing to gain by going to Uncompressed, because you weren't working in Uncompressed in the first place. The exception to this is color grading and graphics: ideally, you would be working in a higher quality sequence such as ProRes (Uncompressed is probably overkill) in both FCP and Color.
Of course, I can't honestly say that any of this will make a difference in a Flash movie-- Flash is for web delivery, and to bring it down to a bitrate suitable for the web, you'll likely lose anything you might have gained from this process. -
Trying to download update to CoPilot Live and CoPilot GPS with maps. Files sizes are large and taking hours to download on wireless connection. How can I download updates and new maps while connected to PC and Itunes through hard wire internet link?
I'm on my iPad, so I don't know if this is the page with an actual download. I don't see a button, but assume that is because I am on an iPad. It is in the DL section of Apple downloads.

MP3 file size too large ?
Hi all,
I purchased the C3 to replace my older 6300 a couple of days ago.
It seems that my C3 problem discussed in another topic is almost similar.
I placed a 1Gb memory card and works just fine. I can approach and play all MP3 files on it.
But the option to use an MP3 as a ringtone is greyed out.
Tried to get it to work through personalizing profiles gives me the error message : file size too large ! Everty time and no matter which MP3 I choose. The file size is 4.3 Mb.
I tried editing the file, downsizing it to 770 Kb, but same error message occurs : too large.
Any other suggestions before I decide to bring this phone back ?
Solved!
Go to Solution.updates vary by region and product code and if your handset is branded you may have to wait a bit longer as the network has to aproove the update
If i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

The PST files are rather large and contain tons of folders each
The PST files are rather large and contain tons of folders each, so it's kinda hard to go through each one finding this very specific Subject line. Is there any other way to scan within the PST files to find a particular text string, like this Subject
line? Before I start googling this stuff, I thought someone might already been there/done that.Great, but all pst files aren't indexed so this could take a long time if you try it this way.
Outlook Recovery Toolbox from: http://goo.gl/MU7fEk and it helped me to get the PST data after a heavy corruption. This is the capable software which can also be used to get the deleted pst data like emails
etc. You can find it here: http://goo.gl/MQn5gI -
Xp_smtp_sendmail file size is larger than allowed max sizer of 65536 bytes
Hi,
We have a daily routine which generates a text file and runs xp_smtp_sendmail with the @messagefile argument to use the text file in the body of the email.
It has always worked fine but recently we have been receiving the following error when trying to run it:
Error: @messagefile "Drive\Filename.txt" file size is larger then allowed max size of 65536 byte
Funnily enough the file in question is 66,220 bytes so only just big enough to exceed this limit. The file in question is created from scratch on a daily basis so maybe this limit has always been in place
and we are now exceeding it. My question is can we increase this limit somewhere and if so where? The SQL Statement I'm running is:
EXEC master.dbo.xp_smtp_sendmail
@To = '[email protected]',
@From = '[email protected]',
@messagefile = 'Filepath\Filename.txt',
@subject='Test please ignore',
@server='smtp.servername.domain'
Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone has!what version of sql ser using?? it looks like you are using SQLMail. if you are sql 2005 and baove you can use database mail and use that to send mails
check for to set up database mail http://blog.sqlauthority.com/2008/08/23/sql-server-2008-configure-database-mail-send-email-from-sql-database/

Playback of sounds from flash movie files in authorware
Ive imported a flash movie file into authorware but the sound
is not playing back. In flash, I created a movie that includes
graphics and sounds. The movie plays perfectly when I open the
flash player but it doesnt play when imported into Authorware. Ive
tried publishing the flash file as quicktime but had a problem with
the handler on my computer. Does anyone have any
suggestions? If you click the 'Options' button on the Property panel for
the Flash
movie, is the 'Playback > Sound' checkbox actually checked
in the
resulting dialog box?
When published as QT, what does 'had a problem with the
handler on my
computer' mean? Do you have QT installed on the playback
machine? Are
you using Insert > Media > Quicktime?

How do I combine several mov files into a larger mov file?
I am just getting started with Premiere Elements (12.0) and have what seems to me to be a very simple goal. I have several short ".mov" movies and would like to combine them into a single ".mov" movie. I have gone through the menus and can't find a way to do this. If someone would point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.
Norm Noe
Thanks for the reply.
There is no reason why you should not be able to export your Timeline content to a file with a .mov file extension with several choices for video compression.
From your details, I suspect I know the problem that has not surfaced until your latest post.
When you get to Publish+Share/Computer, there are several choices. Adobe Flash Video with one of its export f4v is a choice not the default for the exports under Publish+Share/Computer. The categories to select from under Publish+Share/Computer include, from top to bottom...
Adobe Flash Video
MPEG
AVCHD
XAVC=S
AVI
Windows Media
QuickTime
Image
Audio
It is the QuickTime choice which will give you the exports with the .mov file extension. And, you can select from a large number of video codecs to go with the .mov file extension. But, to make that choice, you need to
(a) Have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer
(b) Use the scroll bar to the right of the list to get to the bottom of the list where you will find QuickTime.
Example for you to look at if you have not already...if your source is 1920 x 1080p24...
Then
Import....
Project Preset
NTSC
DSLR
1080p
DSLR 1080p 24
Export
Publish+Share
Computer
QuickTime
with Presets = NTSC DV 16L9
then, under the Advanced Button/Video Tab, customize the Export Settings...See screenshot below
Leave the Bitrate Settings without the check mark next to "Limit Data Rate to" for this first run.
Depending on the file size of the export, next time we can type a specific data rate value in that field.
Please review, consider, and then let us know if you are OK with the information provided.
Thank you.

.flv file size too large
I recently purchased the Premiere Pro CS3 upgrade in order to produce flash video for our website because I was told Flash is the way to go for video delivery. We have used Real Media for a while to provide our audience with both the option to stream the video or to download it, but for several reasons I wanted to move away from that format.
However, I have to say I am disappointed in the results I've gotten with my first .flv encoded movies. The file sizes I'm getting for decent quality video are around approx 140 MB compared with approx 75 MB for the same clip when exporting to Real Media (.rm file). That's nearly twice the file size and the quality is even a little worse than the smaller Real Media file.
I am running Win XP and exporting finished high quality 80 minute .avi clips (yes, very long, but shortening the clips is not an option)to Adobe Media Encoder>Adobe Flash Video (I'm using the "NTSC Source to 256kpbs" preset, using the "On2 VP6" codec, with a bitrate of 200). Our priority is High Quality video but at the same time it would be nice to have a reasonable file size too. I simply don't understand why the file size is so large compared with Real Media when the quality is roughly the same. Am I doing something obviously wrong. Please help. It's worth playing with keyframes, possibly increasing the number between them by a substantial amount. I'm also a little surprised that a 256k preset would have a video bit rate of 200. That strikes me as a little high by the time you add in audio and try and cram it down a congested 256k line.
Do you have the settings you're using to export the Real files? Real 10 is a great codec as far as quality/bit rate. It's just a pity it lacks in other ways. -
Embedded movie file sizes - any guides?
I am new to Flash and trying hard to get a .flv movie
embedded in a .swf file. I'm importing an mpeg4 video (a Quicktime
movie about 17 Mb) into flash video encoder and then trying to
encode it into a really small image and file size. This is 'live
action' video, actually short interview clips, lasting about 65
seconds, in a studio, so there's not much change in the image. I'm
aiming for a movie size around 150x100 pixels and as small a file
size as possible. My problem is this: I can't seem to get the file
size much below 1.4 Mb on any setting which keeps the image
reasonably smooth. Even at 150Kbs, 15 frames persecond and a really
small image I still get a .flv around 1.3MB. Can anyone tell me if
this is normal, or should I be able to achieve a much smaller file
size? I need to run this movie from my website and at the moment it
would be way too big! Any thoughts or suggestions would be
gratefully received...Any particular reason why you are imbedding the movie rather
than playing it
as an external FLV? Playing the FLV externally doesn't cost
anything in
terms of quality and will dramatically reduce the size of
your SWF.

I have a 8 minute video shot in HD that when I export, it comes out to about 1.5 gb (not exact because I'm in the process of exporting it again and I can't get details at this moment). I need to imbed this onto a Keynote presentation for a graduation ceremony and I was wondering if anybody out there could give me a suggestion on what compression would be best to export this to. I'm asking because I usually play around with each compression format to get a good image/manageable file size, but, I'm short on time and don't have a lot of time to try different formats. Sadly, I don't remember what worked in the past. I think I used to export the full .mov file and then convert it using quicktime or something.
I'm hoping that I can get something small in size but in good quality to play on a large auditorium screen. The projector isn't as nice as a movie projector so I can sacrifice some quality but preferably not a lot.Found a good solution, for those of you that are interested. After exporting to .mov, I just used quicktime to save as a HD 720p movie. Went from 1.9gb to about 310mb. Perfect for the ceremony and great size too.
