Flash movie won't show

I have put a Flash movie in this page:
http://www.domainedelavagnac.com/slideshow.htm
Doesn't show. Even put the .swf file in the same directory as
the page.
But the SAME movie shows on another site hosted by another
company - here:
http://www.mywebspinners.com/garrigae/hr/testshow.htm
Is it something on the first server that is stopping it
showing?
Thanks,
- Greg

according to the page source, you should have
http://www.domainedelavagnac.com/Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js
but the file does not seem to exists on the server.
Did you upload the JS script ?

  • Flash movie will not show or work on server???

Seems to be a popular thread here,,,,,
I have 3 web sites on my hosting server 1 has a small flash movie which works fine
i tried adding another to the 2 other sites and nothing !!!! Exactly the same thing as the one that works, the movie will not even show
on the screen that is its just bland usually you get a red x or something but nothing ???? Any ideas the puszzling thing is that the one site
it works fine on but the other two it doesn't.  has there been an IE update that i am unaware of that might stop this gfrom working ????
i am at a loss here thank

  • Flash movie won't play in PowerPoint

I have created a flash movie, however, when I try to view the
slideshow, all I see is a blank page. I have installed the most
updated Active Controls and the Shockwave Player, but it still
    won't play.

Right click. Open up the properties of the embedded swf.
Change 'Playing' to True. Close properties.
Careful, this may not last. I think it automatically reverts
    to "playing = Flase"

Don't. Put the script back in. It works fine *IF* you also

  • Flash movies won't play in document or browser

    Hi there,
I am having problems with putting flash movies onto my website. I know this is a common problem so apologies for any repetition.
I have trawled through a lot of forums trying to solve this issue and so far have not found a solution that works for me.
First of all I'm using dreamweaver v7, on a macbook OSX (intel)
On inserting flash movie, only the box with 'f' apears in the document, and in browser, nothing at all. It doesn't worry me so much that the movie doesn't appear in the doc, as with shockwave it's the same. However shockwaves play fine in browser.
I have tried the following so far:
    - moved the movie .flv file to the same folder as the html document that it relates to
    - made the file name really, really simple. 6 letters and no other characters.
    - tested in alternative browsers
    - tried inserting another flash object (flash button) to see whether the problem resides in inserting flash objects, or if the problem is with the movie file itself (the flash button worked, so I thought the movie file must be the problem) - so then ...
    - I tried compressing the movie in a different programme - I tried sorenson squeeze - still nothing
    - As inserting the movie as a quicktime works fine using 'insert shockwave', I even tried changing the file extension of the QT version from .mov to .swf as I read somewhere that it might work (!!!??) but it didn't though the movie still played without dreamweaver
So, I reach the conclusion that the movie is not after all the problem - but what is? since inserting other flash objects does work?
Very confused! Thank you for any help offered.... Laura

I am a bit confused though - is flash video not the same as flash movie?
No. Flash refers to its files as movie files. FLA (editable) and SWF (compressed for Web) are Flash movies - not to be confused with cinema. FLV files are Flash Video files.
Just to confuse matters some, just prior to the creation of the .flv format, it was not uncommon to import videos into Flash and save them as .swf movies (videos). But that was only good for very short, very small videos.
Additionally, since you brought it up, Shockwave files are also referred to as movies. But they are created by Director, not Flash. Director, like Flash, refers to its files as movie files. DIR is the editable file and DCR is the Shockwave-compressed file for the Web. The Shockwave plugin is not the same as the Shockwave Flash plugin. Shockwave Flash cannot play Shockwave movies, but Shockwave movies can play Flash .swf movies - neither of which are videos.
How's that for clear as mud?

I inserted another into a second page and all i see is a gray box????
Both movies are in the same directory,,, both html files are in that same directory and the *.js file is there also
What could possibly be wrong here ???

  • Embedded movies won't show up

I noticed this problem when a friend of mine directed me to a
site with an embedded movie object:
    http://psubuntu.com/installation-instructions/
There are a few issues here:
    1. If I look at this site in IE7, it shows up with a red "x"
icon for the reserved object dimensions
    2. If I look at this in Firefox 2, it doesn't show up at all
    - in fact, this is where we found the problem
    3. Checking this in Opera 9, the movie appears correctly
    4. My friend sent me the link to the actual youtube page with
the movie - I can see it just fine in all 3 browsers on that page
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pnmxwZJFQQ&eurl=
    5. If I view the source and navigate to the link in any of
the browsers, I'm able to see the movie
    6. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all of my
browsers and Flash and still the same results
Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I'm shocked (but not
amazed) that this kind of thing would even happen in Windows XP.

The same happened to me when I edited the movie info (apple+I), and changed it to "music video". To fix it i changed info to "movies" Now I can see it in the video library.

  • Flash movie won't display online

I'm thinking there's something wrong with my settings when I
export my .swf files. I have two .swf's now, neither will display
online on three different servers. Just a blank screen comes up. Or
could there not be flash files needed on those three servers? If
so, how do I install/upload them? Do I need to be uploading more
    than just the .swf file?

There's a movie halfway down this page, but it's not showing:
    http://www.lkcwebdesign.com/index.shtml
It does run here (the html file Flash generates)
    http://www.lkcwebdesign.com/flash-portfolio.html
It's worked a few times, then we I'd reposition it, it would
    disappear again.

  • Lexar flash drive won't show up on Macbook Air?

I've been using my Lexar Twist turn flash drive on my Macbook Air for a while now and it has been working perfectly. The last time I've used it without trouble was around May - June. Just recently I plugged my flash drive in and it didn't pop up... as if nothing was inserted. I've plugged it into my PC as well and it worked fine. I've tried checking the disk utility but it didn't show up in there either. Help.
My Macbook Air is an OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 if that helps...

    Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist and com.apple.finder.plist.  Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting and test. If it works okay, delete the plists from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plists to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.

  • Flash movie won't play on testing or remote server in web page

I have a Flash slideshow that will only play in a browser if I click File > Open and open the .swf file locally and directly (not in a web page). It has never played in a webpage, remotely on the web server or locally on the Wamp server. It plays correctly in Flash when I test it.
I have tried uploading the HTML page that Flash generates (without any changes), and it won't even play in that file. I have also tried using Dreamweaver's "Insert Flash" feature, and that was no good either.

    hi there,
when u find the answer, plz let me know! :D
i have been pullin my hair out 2 for ages. I think i have a
    similar problem to urs.
My website previews perfectly when i test in flash.
functionality is fine. but when i upload to my server, the FLV
playback screws up. i.e comes in when its not suppose to and doesnt
    reset. (keeps layering the audio)
i think it "may" have something to do with my web host server
settings. i have tried adding a FLV mime extension. no good! ...and
also think the html might have to have an absolute location for the
file. i.e it can't find the file on the server as it can while
playing locally. good luck! n like i said, let me know if u find a
    solution plz! ronnie

  • Flash movie won't play in FireFox or IE

Okay, So I haven't done much in flash in a while. However, I imported a new movie and then published the movie from flash and made an html page as well. For some reason I can not see the movie when I go to the page.
    http://www.pe.gatech.edu/video/frankie-pool.html
Does it play for anyone else?
Any ideas on what to do to fix this?
    Thanks
    Tim

Could be a number of things.
For starters the code calls for this file:
    http://www.pe.gatech.edu/movies/frankie-pool.swf
    in this line:
    <param name="movie" value="http://www.pe.gatech.edu/movies/frankie-pool.swf" />
Attempting to direct download by clicking on the link above returns file not found... so of course the browser will not be able to find it either.
The path to the .swf uses the folder "movies" but the html page in is a folder called "video".
Is that correct in both cases? if it is, the it could be a pathing problem... but of course you have to first make sure that all the files have been uploaded correctly.
There may be as many as 3 files needed, the main .swf file, perhaps a skin .swf file... though maybe not, and of course, the actual .flv file.
Double check to make sure they have all been correctly uploaded.
Then a word about pathing... if the .swf and/or the .flv are not in the same folder as the html page, the path used by the .swf to the .flv file needs to be relative to the html page, NOT the physical location of the .swf or the .flv file.
    For review:
    Pathing issues
Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do NOT have to be in the root, they do NOT all have to be in the same folder. But if you have a problem and if sticking them all in the root folder works, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
Just remember that paths used in the .swf become relative to the Web page on which the .swf is placed, NOT it’s physical location.  So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root folder, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, images, video, etc), the path used inside the .swf to load the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and then back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
In fact if you are placing the .swf on a web page in a different folder than the .swf is stored in, and that .swf calls external assets, then direct clicking and opening of the .swf in it’s folder should NOT work! That’s because the paths to the external assets should be relative to the Web page and not the physical location of the .swf.
So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final Web page locations (not physical file locations) and you can put the Flash related files in what ever folders you want.
