Flash Movie Works in Preview (Ctrl+enter) but not in Published

Hi All-
I hope somebody on here can help me out. I'm not sure what else to try. I have a flash project that I have been working on for a while, today its stopped functioning properly. To be clear. It still runs JUST FINE when I preview it (CTRL+ENTER), but when I publish the file and run the SWF file, or the HTML file the movie no longer functions properly. Specifically any ActionScript from the main timeline seems to no longer be functioning. ActionScript contained within movie clips continues to function properly, but nothing else.... .
There is about 400 lines of code right now (variables, functions etc.) but if there is some where specific that I could provide I'm more then happy to. Thanks for your time and help.

No, its in the same directory that it was before....
I am not sure exactly where the problem is, but I am fairly sure that it has something to do with the flash player installed on my computer + the flash player installed by CS4....
The SWF file runs properly when I host it on a site, but locally there is some type of conflict that causes all kinds of problems...
If it helps:
Windows 7 ultimate 64
Flash CS4
Flash Player 10.0.32.18
If there is more info I can provide that can help you identify the problem please let me know, its rather frustrating.

EDIT: For the record I have tried uninstalling the "player" and reinstalling but as of right now I continue to have problems.

I test my computer on an other internet provider and everything works correctly

The problem comes from my computer on my internet connection.

This is what you should see under "plugins" in Opera:
Make sure Flash Player is listed and enabled.
It comes from the same place as the plug-in for Firefox, so one won't work if the other doesn't.

I movies work with sound in quicktime but not in imovie hd!!!

I have clips that worked in imovie hd before but all of a sudden the sound will not work, but they will work in quicktime....any ideas?

Some clips - which started life not as DV camcorder clips, but might be .AVI, or somesuch, downloaded from the web, or shot as movies with a digital stills camera - may have audio in QuickTime but not in iMovie.
QuickTime understands and replays many different file formats (..see all the different file formats QuickTime Player can handle, in the right-hand column here..) ..some of which iMovie can't handle.
If your clips "..worked in imovie hd before but all of a sudden the sound will not work.." it might be because you'd had QuickTime open in the background, previously, or because you'd altered them in some way ..or maybe you 'Extracted' their audio, but don't have the check-boxes ticked for the audio tracks at the right-hand edge of the Timeline.
The most important question is: were these clips originally from a tape-based DV camcorder, or did you import them from something else, e.g; web, hard disc camcorder, DVD camcorder, .AVI or other iMovie-incompatible origins?

Works in preview and IE but not Firefox

Hi All,
I have a 6 page prototype in Fw with each page containing mutliple types of behaviors (rollovers, swaps, nav bar). They all work great in "preview and IE". However, in Firefox I have 3 out of 4 rollovers on the same page that do not work. I have tried both rollover and image swap. All the other slice/behaviors on all the other pages work in "preview, IE and Firefox"?

Hi Linda,
When I exported the project all of the pages worked correctly. I was able to show the prototype with everything working. I later rebuilt the page from scratch and everything worked in preview mode as well as once exported.

Flash app works in FF and Opera but not in IE

Good day all,
I am not a flash fundie, but i am part of a project which has
run into a snag and i have been left to do research what is causing
the snag.
The testing browsers we used:
FireFox 3.0.5 (used in linux and windows) with Shockwave
Player 10.0 r15
Internet Explorer v6.x as well as v7.0.5730.13 (windows only)
Opera v9.63 (linux version)
We are building an online fixed odds poker game for a client.
Front end is flash and actionscript (v3) with the backend being a
combination of php and c++.
The issue:
When playing the game in Firefox (both in linux and windows)
one can play a game from preflop to flop to turn and to river. And
when you shuffle the deck each player gets new cards and each of
the mentioned stages has new cards, thus a new game. Note that the
game does work correctly in opera as well.
But when playing it in IE in windows we find that the first
game you play repeats; over and over again. As long as you place
your bets in the same order each time the same game will repeat
never ending. Change the order of your bets and the game throws a
developed communications error. Then you restart the game, you now
get whole new set of cards but when you reshuffle the deck at the
end of the game you get exactly the same cards again, and then if
you keep the order of the betting the same you will find that the
game repeats non-stop.
We have cleared the cache of IE, we have "cleared the cache"
of EVERYTHING! :P But still the issue persists in IE in windows.
The issue occurs on both the versions described earlier and occurs
on three separate PC's of which two are in our offices and one is a
home pc.
My experience in flash and action script is zero (i am a
php/JS/mysql programmer) but we have little resources and i am
standing in for the flash person who cannot get an opportunity to
to research this matter.
Any questions you have, feel free to ask. Any remarks or
feedback or opinion you may have feel free to give it with as much
technical details as you prefer. I will pass all details i receive
on to the Flash developer.
Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

How are you getting the data for the dealt cards?
If it is thru some external data source, using a url to call
it in, you can try adding ?nocache= XX
where XX is a randomly generated number (so it isn't the same
all the time) The significance of using nocache as a variable name
is probably none... meaning it could probably be called
anything.

My flash drive works on a Mac mini, but not on a MacBook Pro. How do I get it to work?

Also, when I plug my phone into the computer using the USB drive, the computer does not recognize it. I have not tried my phone on the Mac Mini. They have both worked before on my MBP. What's the problem?

It may just not be configured to SHOW.
1. Finder>Preferences.
2. MISSING FROM DESKTOP: Make sure under "General" for "Show these devices on the desktop" that you have a CHECK mark under "hard disks" as well as "external disks" (if you have a dash that indicates specific items are set to hide and others are not)
3. MISSING FROM SIDEBAR: Check the same items under the "Sidebar" section if you are missing them from the Sidebar of Finder.

Flash Movie works when testing, but not in application

My flash movie works when I "Test Movie" within Flash 8 or
when I press F12 and open it in the browser, but it only show the
dynamic text, not the pictures when I place it within my page. The
dynamic text changes properly but no images are displayed.

I suspect this is where my issue lies, but I am not sure how
to fix it. I have attached some code that defines the image
location. I am able to successfully retrieve documents with the
following, is this the same type of scenerio,

except in the images folder ?

Button hyperlinks work in project preview but not in published .swf

Captivate 6, button hyperlinks work in project preview but not in published .swf, the cursor changes the “the hand” but the hyperlink does not redirect.
Any ideas?
Like I said my buttons work great in preview mode after publishing, one click and the PDF opens in a new browser window. Open the project through the published .swf files and the links will not work.

Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Once your project published, add the .swf file in Flash Global Setting :
1) Right Click on the content (Published .swf file) and click on Global Settings
2) Go to Advanced Tab and Click on Trusted Location Settings (Scrool down to see this button)
3) Click on "Add" button and then "Add file", browse for the Captivate 6 published file and click on OK
4) Launch the .htm file again (Location where Captivate publish your project)

* "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Generally and at times we all have little idiosyncrasies appearing with the running of our Macs.
I use the same Logitech BT with my MBP. MB & iBook..(not at the same time) Only ever had one issue
and the cure was to completely Delete the mouse from BT -> Repair Permissions & Reboot then Re Install the BT mouse..Ihave just put a new set of batteries in the Logitech (only 2nd set ever)...L

NavigateToURL Works During Testing But Not Once Published

Trying to create a simply hyperlink in Flash. Works perfectly during testing. But when I upload to the net, clicking the link takes me to www.thirdnewhope.com/iamtnh.blogspot.com rather than to just www.iamthn.blogspot.com. I've tried changing allowscriptaccess to always. That doesn't work either. I am stumped :-(

do not work when jack plugged into my iMac - Sys Prefs "SOUND" only lists "internal speakers/ built in" as available options.
I used my altec lansing speakers on 3 macs including this one for 5-6 years.....now with Mountian Lion I can only get internal speakers???
Ideas? Any/All help would be greatly appreciated - been going nuts with this for 2 days now.

When you start Messages fro the first time you are asked for an Apple ID
When this is verified and entered it appears in Messages Menu > Preference > Accounts and is Enabled.
The App should have also picked on on those iChat Accounst you had before.
These should be Enabled if they were when you last used iChat.
Exactly which "Accounts" are logged in can be seen in Message Menu > Accounts and will include the iMessage "Account" and Bonjour.
In the Window menu you will see CMD +0 for the Messages window and CMD+1 for the "Buddies" window which is a combined list at this stage.
Go to the Preferences > General Section and Untick the "Collect all accounts into one list".
This will give you separate iChat type Buddy lists.
You can check if that account/Buddy list is set to Invisible or if in the Preferences > Accounts > Security you have settings that will block some people from seeing you as On line.
You are saying Buddies can see you as On Line which implies they are still sending to your AIM based Names (@Mac.com is a valid AIM Screen Name)
I am not sure from your post if you are trying to iMessage their email IDs thinking they are Apple IDs and that they are using Messages as well.
There is no Buddy list for iMessages side
No-one can tell you are "On Line" until they have your details in the "To" spot in Messages with the correct iMessaged contact info (iPhone Number or Apple ID)
Obviously an Apple ID can be an email or look like one.
In some cases they are also valid AIM Screen Names as well.
In the case or the @mac.com name you may have linked this Apple ID to iMessages as well.

Textbox Data Binding in VS 2008, Works on a Main form but not in a Dialog!

I got a perplexing problem here with Databindings. I'm using a POCO class for XML serialization that implements the INotifyPropertyChanged. I'm using Visual Basic 2008 and unfortunately I have to keep the program that way!
I have two projects: One is a Main WinForm, and the other one I'm working with another engineer and I'm trying to create a dialogbox for the users to enter in data (ie: user name, calibration data, etc)
In my Main Winform, I'm doing databinding like this:
TextBoxUserName.DataBindings.Add("Text", data, "Name", False, DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged)
And it works fine, but when I do this in the dialogbox form, NOTHING is being updated. Not the textbox nor the data.name member (which is also a string)
So what's the problem then? How come it works in the instance of the Main Winform but not in the dialogbox?

Your signature says you have 10.6.8 - is this correct? If you migrated from MobileMe using this your mail settings won't be correct and you will need to follow this procedure to re-enter them:
