Flash MX to CS3

I built a template in Flash MX and have since upgraded to
CS3. I have a button that advances the playhead onRelease or on
"Spacebar". Lately I have tried using components to achieve
something faster, normally would build the effect I would like.
When I add the component to the stage or library, my actions for
the "Spacebar" don't work. If I take the component out of the
library, things work fine.
I have also seen strange behavior with the scrollpane. The
scroll window will load the information, but not inside the window.
The scroll bar will show up and scroll the information, but the
info is seen on the outside of the boundries, as if its not
"masked".
Anyone seen/heard of this before? Do I rebuild the template
all in CS3 to cure?

Saving a flash file from cs3 to cs4 ruins the file!

Last time I used flash for an urgent commission I discovered a very heavy bug, which did cost me half a day of work and nearly the whole commission. What happened:
I saved a flash file originally created with Flash CS4 as CS3 because the Actionscript programmer did not have a newer version. When I reopened the changed file and typed CMD+S it saved the file without warning. This was momentous: when I re-opened the file, only the library contents did show up, the timeline and stage was empty. Trying to publish the movie again resulted in a program crash. Thus I had to rebuilt the whole flashfile from scratch the next day and calm down a very nervous (and important) customer. Since then I always chose "Save as" and change the format to "CS3", and – how about that! – the file stays intact.
So HOW can a software have a glitch like this be on the market? I would suggest to Adobe that the rework the whole code because flash seems to be very poorly coded. I experienced numerous minor bugs in the last years, but this one beats them all. You save a file and ruin it.
If anybody else has experienced this, I would like them to share their experiences. Not just with me – share them with the people responsible for this. Write to Adobe.

Just save. It'll open in previous versions.
BUT if you used features that are specific to CS6 (like vector strokes) those may not show up in previous versions.
If you want everything to show, flatten the image and save a copy.
If you want to show the structure of the file - avoid features that are new in CS6 and save as PSD..

Can't Activate Flash Media Encoder CS3

I just had a new hard drive installed on my Windows XP SP3, 4 GB RAM, 2 dual core Intel processors machine. I reinstalled Production Premium CS3. All of my Adobe applications activated except Flash Media Encoder CS3. When I enter my serial number, it says it is an incorrect number and places a big red X beside of the number. The number I entered is the number on the box.
I called Technical Support and held for them for over 1 1/2 hours but no one came on to answer my question. I entered the problem in the Support Portal but it has been over 24 hours and no one has contacted me. I like Adobe software but not their technical support.
Can anyone in the Forum help?

I've tried it (with cookies cleared) on three different browsers now and they all experience the same problem. I am on OS X but that should not affect my ability to connect to a particular server. Inserting FLASH into Dreamweaver cs3

I am trying to build a VERY basic website in Dreamweaver. Using their single fixed column, centered,template, i would like to ad 2 flash items, a menu and small movie, in to he top of the column. (Both flash items are larger than the column with, if that matters,i was going to resizxe them nce i got this part of the cose correct)
For some reason the flash movie shows in my Dreamweaver preview, but not when i load it live online @ www.srg-buffalo.com.

I uploaded both saved .SWF documents to the Scripts directory.
There was also a Scripts dirrectory saved with index.html, in this directory was the AC_RunActiveContent.js file,any thoughts on that?
i uploaded it to scripts,along witht he others, and the space dedicatd to the flash events is there, but they are not showing.

When you insert the SWF, you shouldn't have to actual type anything - it's a browse and select process and will automatically enter the correct path to the SWF. Then you have to upload the page and the SWF file. This next part I think has changed in later versions of DW, but in CS3 I'm pretty sure the process will also create a folder named Scripts. This folder along with it's contents also need to be uploaded.

Simple Shape Tween always causes Flash to freeze (CS3)

Flash CS3 Professional is always freezing when I create a
simple shape tween. The steps that I follow to produce this problem
are as follows:
Draw a line
Bend the line into a curve.
Set a second keyframe on the timeline. (doesn't matter how
many frames between the two keyframes)
Use the direct select tool to reposition the point at one end
of the line.
Set the tween to Shape between the two keyframes.
Scrub the timeline.
Flash freezes.
According to the Windows XP Task Manager, the CPU is at 50%
with most of that going to flash.
Any ideas on how to get it working properly?
I can do the tween successfully without issue using Flash 8,
but CS3 freezes everytime. Our company won't let us upgrade to CS4
at the moment.

i can't duplicate that problem.
if the problem occurs when you scrub the timeline, don't
scrub it. test it in the test environment. you may be able get your
tween working doing that (even though that doesn't solve the
problem).

Page loads flash white DW CS3

Dear Folks,
In MX 2004, this code would keep the page BLACK during

Now in DW CS3 the page flashes WHITE while loading. No good.

Certified Flash Developer in CS3 or CS4?

Back in 2004 it was possible to become a Macromedia Flash Certified Developer.
No I wonder if it´s possible to become a certified developer in Flash CS3 or CS4.
Can I do this online?
Is there anyone who has the experience of this.
I really appreciate if someone can guide me further of who I became
an Cerified Developer or what Adobe called it nowdays.

You can do the ACE exam on CS3, but since CS4 is already out it would be worth waiting until the CS4 exam is out, so you don't have to go again when the CS4 exam is out.
You CAN'T do it online you have to go to a certification partner of Adobe.

Flash Creative Suite CS3 : Professional version and/or Standard

Please advice.
I am looking at scanning results from MANY PCs (mostly from "Add/remove programs") and I can see that there are 2 different types of applications regarding "Adobe Flash Creative Suite 3":
Ones that are just called this and some that are called Adobe Flash Creative Suite 3 Professional.
I cannot seem to find a standard edition mentioned anywhere of Adobe Flash Creative Suite 3.
So, my question is now:
Is there one or two versions? (standard and prof.)
or
Is there absolutely no standard version, so that I must conclude that applications called Adobe Flash Creative Suite 3, must be exactly the same as Adobe Flash Creative Suite 3 (CS3) - Professional?
Please advise!
(AND .. does anybody have the exact release date (day, month and year))

Displaying Variables in Flash [AS]2 CS3

Ok so I recently ran across an interesting problem. Not its
not in the flash and it isnt in the coding. Actually to be honest I
have no clue where the problem resides as I have never seen this
before.
Basically I have a Flash project I am working on that I
created in CS3 using ActionScript 2.0 I can see the loaded
variables on my computer. A friend across town can see the loaded
variables from the database on his computer and so on. However,
there are two people I have come across that are unable to view the
loaded variables and instead of the flash swf returning the
variables, it returns ERROR.
They both have Flash Player 9 and one computer is using
Vista, the other XP. Has anyone heard of this before? Just
curious.

Yep, as I suspected a dumb question. All I had to do was replace the xml file name with rssurl and it worked.

PS to Flash color problems CS3

I've searched on Adobe forums and here and have heard
rumblings about
this issue but never a definitive answer. My problem is
simple -
files in Photoshop do not look the same when brought into
Flash. I
have my color settings set to web_color, aka RGB workspace
set to
sRGB. Looks great in Photoshop. When I click Save to Web, I
did have
to select the convert to sRGB (aka my image in the "Original"
window
looked muted and the colors were off). Regardless, I open the
JPEG
(or PNG / GIF) back up in Photoshop and it looks fine.
However, once
I import into Flash, no matter what settings were used (i've
done
countless tests), the file looks the same - muted with
noticeable
color shifts. Implementing the image into HTML gets the same
result -
the image does not look like it did in Photoshop. I'm aware
that
Flash does not recognize color profiles, but I'm wondering
why there
is a preset for web_color (and everyone tends to agree that
the sRGB
setting is generally best for development for web) and yet
once
implemented in a web setting - Flash or HTML - and the colors
are
noticeably different. What am I doing wrong? I'm on a MacBook
pro,
10.4.1 working in CS3. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try exporting as a selfcontained qt with sequence settings first. Also, I've seen these kind of artifacts when a drive is failing or corrupted. Try running disk repair in disk utility and diskwarrior if you've got it on the drive.

Running Flash panels in CS3 applications

I've just earned a freelance contract to develop a mobile
phone game, & i've got a copy of CS3 Design Premium on the way,
which includes Flash CS3 Professional. I've developed Flash games
before using the Flash Lite 2.1 plugin for Flash 8 Professional,
but I'm a little confused about the situation in Flash CS3.
Does Flash CS3 come with Flash Lite 2.1? If not, has a Flash
Lite 2.1 plugin been released for Flash CS3? & if not, does the
Flash Lite 2.1 plugin for Flash 8 work for Flash CS3?
I guess my questions really is, is it currently possible to
develop Flash Lite 2.1 content with Flash CS3, & if so, what do
i need?

if you have the Flash CS3 IDE you have all the settings to
publish Flash Lite content for the different versions.
If you are publishing for Flash Lite 2.1 for Brew there is an
extention to install. But normal FL2.1 is there already

Problems downloading Flash from the CS3 CD.

So I just recently got CS3 Design Premium for a job I'm working on.
I downloaded the trial for Flash CS3 about a year ago separately from the design premium and left it unregistered.
So when downloading the Design Premium it did not reinstall Flash CS3.
When I registered all of the products Flash CS3 remained unregistered.
I uninstalled Flash and tried to install it from the Design premium CD.
Whenever I attempt to download Flash from the CD however, it ejects the disk after a minute or 2 and asks me to insert a disk for Illustrator, however there is only one CD, and if I put the CD back in it ejects.
Help, what do I do?
Do I deactivate the programs and install it all over again, and if so how do I deactivate the applications?

I have no idea what that means but try closing the App Store, and reboot your iPad. See if that helps.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the App Store icon. Tap the home button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Can't play mp4s using flash playback component CS3 after reinstall

I had to reinstall my flash cs3 and now application I made that played mp4 videos using the flvplayback component won't play anymore I get a video error

I'm a little confused-- do you mean that the G4 computer is just not strong enough to edit HD files "even if I did find the codec"? I was planning to edit it with Final Cut Pro (have never edited a HD project before), but is my computer not adequate? Let me know if there is any way for me to tackle an HD project with my current laptop-- otherwise I guess I really need to look into a new one.

Flash cs5 and cs3 crash on publish, export, copy frames etc.

Well hi, welcome to my nightmare
i've been working for a loooongg hugeeee time on an animation, it probably lasts over 20m, has tons of music, movieclips and videos. It's divided into 5 or 6 scenes don't remember exactly. The fla weighs about 550mb (im not using everything in the library anyway, i guess i could trim out a lot) and i CANNOT PUBLISH. im about to go absolutely nuts. If i publish, "Flash stopped responding", hi desktop! I'm running windows 7 x64 ultimate, have a quad-core q6600 4GB RAM DDR2 @667MHz, and a nvidia gtx260, which probably doesn't matter.
Okay, when i started to create the animation everything went smooth, as the fla got heavier and the animation more complex, i started to notice problems like "not enough memory to complete operation" and random crashes. I believe most of it has to do with flash having a poor memory management.
Anyway, the thing is that i cannot publish at all. I tried breaking the animation down to 4 files, so as to make lighter files and maybe get it to publish separately, but in the 4th scene, which has an embedded movie in it, i find it impossible to copy the frames to paste them into a new file. I copy the frames, and flash cs3 just stays there, stuck and not going anywhere, i have to kill the process in order to get out, and flash cs5 doesn't copy the frames at all, it loads for some time and then if i right click, the paste frames option is in grey, like unavailable.
So i'm stuck, i have all there and can't do anything with it!!!. I tried rendering the test scene for each scene but the same 4th scene has a problem! life hates me! the tweens inside the movie clips won't play on the swf... so i cant render test scenes to get separate swfs.
If anyone has any idea, they'd be my hero!!! please i really need to publish this, it was a whole lot of work and im surely not just leaving the fla in my hard drive to fall into oblivion, not a chance
