Flash Navigation Problem

I'm having trouble getting the round circle (with numbers in
them) buttons to navigate correctly. It doesn't happen all the
time, but enough to make it an issue. The user might watch one of
the chapters under "Reporting" and if the user clicks on one of the
round buttons on the bottom, it switches to the correct chapter but
under a different category (usually the "Navigation and Finding
Product" category). Another issue I'm having is a user will
sometimes click on a round navigation button and nothing will
happen. An example of this is when the user goes to the chapter,
"Tier Approval" and clicks on round button #3...
I've attached the code below that is on each of the round
buttons. It's probably not the most effective or cleanest way to do
this... but this project was needed yesterday (as they usually
are). I'm open to any suggestions or feedback! Thanks
theNum refers to the frame in current scene that button
should navigate to
preNum refers to the scene that the button should navigate to
(defined in the _root timeline) and will be a number 1 - 4 (each
number corresponds with a category - each category has chapters
underneath it)
eg: moveToNum could be: 2three (a frame on the time line is
actually named "2three")

get rid of GET, it is for Variables and has nothing to do
with basic href request.
Secondly, do not use mainFrame as a name, these are reserved
names.
Use something unique like redsox_frame.
3rd - do not test it in desktop, upload to server and test it
online. Due to changes
in the player and browser security, many things can't be
execute locally. Testing
online is best and most reliable way.

Html with flash navigation problems

I working on a clients website that's hosted by a very limited server but refuse to leave it. They are forcing me too use an applet to ftp files to the server, so just imagine the limitations. So I can't make php & tpl files (like a header.tpl, content.tpl and a footer.tpl) which would be helpful because the client requires me to make a small change on only the top at least once a month and there are over 100 html files that would need to be changed. So after doing this now 3 times i started searching for ways around it. After being stung by a bee in the forehead I remembered using <iframe> a long time ago and was thinking i might be able to use this. So I tried it but unfortunately when you hit a button in the flash (.swf) file that's in the html referenced in the <iframe> the flash just reloads and plays again like a play it again button.
So is the problem the action script:

Ok so i've been screwing around with this problem of mine and can't believe it was starring me in the face. I changed "_self" to "_parent" and I when it worked I almost fainted. Hopefully this will help someone else.

Problems with Flash Navigation

I'm trying to edit a horizontal flash navigation that I found
on the internet but i'm having some issues. The original file can
be found
here.
The flash pulls menu information from an XML file. To add a
menu block all I should have to do is add the text to the flash
file and then add a block of code to the XML file. The issue I'm
having is that when I attempt to add a 9th main menu item, its
submenu doesn't display correctly.
I've been wracking my brain on this one for days and can't
figure it out. Any help anyone could offer would be greatly
appreciated.

Try another name, words like Main or mainFrame are reserved
and always caused
problems. Give the frame some unique name Jodi_frame etc...
Also, don't forget to test it on server, not locally.

Flash navigation won't always load page

A web site I'm working on working uses Flash for the
navigation. There's a primary vertical navigation bar and all links
work. There are two vertical menu bars that appear separately when
certain buttons are rolled over on the primary bar. One of the
secondary bars works fine. The second one however is the one
causing me grief...it's a movie clip. When I click on a button, it
opens like an accordion revealing additional links. When any of the
links are clicked, a new web page is supposed to load. Sometimes
the appropriate page loads, sometimes not.
I've used getURL throughout and it works everywhere but in
that navigation bar.
Every html page has a different flash file. Sometimes when
the html page doesn't load the appropriate page, the proper flash
navigation appears though.
I've gone over the code for every button on every page and
searched forums, but still can't find what I've done wrong. Any
help would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem. I was working on word and then it crashed. I then switched it off and now all I get is the apple and the wheel going round. I bought my mac in 2011.

Flash navigation and frames

I have flash navigation buttons in top frame. When the
navigation/menu buttons are clicked the content should load in the
'body' frame. What is actually occurring is the content is opening
in a new window. I've checked the frame name and actions etc in
flash. Can anyone provide advice on why this isn't working?

What is the link to your page?
Is this something that your school is requiring, or was the
decision to use

Target another frame in a frameset with for example
getUrl (example.html, "rightFrame");
has Adobe released some solution?
- Right now we migrate from Flash towards PowerPoint and CSS,

the lack of answers and interactivity in Flash because of

Still having navigation problems and need help with how to debug

Hi,
I've been porting over a servlet project to JSF and I'm still having navigation problems. I thought the problem might have been because the original project used HTML frames and so the "from-view-id" JSP defined the frame/framesets and the specific JSP that does the submit (and so is named in the "from-view-id" is never defined in a "to-view-id" attribute). I've now switched to using an IFRAME, and that resolves that problem. So now the JSP is defined in a "to-view-id" attribute and it includes an named IFRAME that can be used as a target. I press the submit button and I get not the JSP expected butinstead the same JSP displayed inside its own IFRAME.
Here is the code for the submit. I've simplified it as much as possible with a static action (originally it was a call to a method) just to try and get things to work. This is the current version:

Navigation Problem in OBIEE

Hi,
I have a strange navigation problem. I have the navigation setup from the 1st page of my dashboard to go to the second. When I first bring up the first page, and then click , nothing happens. Now if I refresh this page and then click again, I am able to navigate to the second page. I would to hear if anyone has seen similar issue. Any help is appreciated.

Still haven't found a solution to this problem.
Even if I remove the form1.setTarget( null or other framename/windowname)
I tried changing to using the onclick="from1.target='mywin';" and also onclick="form1.target='_self'; on the button. Does not work/ have the desired effect of controlling where the page is opened: in same window or in another frame or window.
For some reason navigation also totally breaks, after a search, with a similar sql as in this message, and I get no error when I debug and step through the code.
After doing one search, navigation seems to stop working and only the search.jsp page is the target.
If I do a view first navigation works to new page/servlet output but still not in a new window/frame.
This simple stuff in a normal simle html page, should not be so hard to accive with SJSC perhaps someone of you in the community or the developers at sun can give us insight into this simple problem.
It must be fairly common that one likes to control where a page is opened, in the existing window/page/frame or in a new window/frame.
Anybody else had any problems with navigation not working with similar code ??
If I remove the do_search() call it works, the navigation continues to function, but still have no control of the destination window/frame.

Adobe Flash Player Problem: "Movie Not Loaded"

new user to mac.
i'm getting more and more frustrated with this computer.
what's bugging me the most right now is
i am unable to view videos on certain websites.
rather than showing the content,
a white box appears.
when i right click on the white box,
it says "movie not loaded" (in gray) and adobe flash player 9 (in black).
i can't click on the gray line.
when i click on the black line, it brings me to the adobe website and tells me adobe flash player 9 has been successfully installed.
i am fairly sure this has nothing to do with heavy traffic.
any insights on how to resolve this issue?

RoadMap UI Navigation Problem

I'm facing a navigation problem using the roadmap UI in WD4A.
Let's say we have 5 views. The roadmap view is the default view, the other views will be embedded into a view container UI element on the roadmap view. The roadmap UI has 4 steps, one for each view.
V_ROADMAP
V_STEP_1
V_STEP_2
V_STEP_3
V_STEP_4
Now, I need to add navigation buttons (previous & next) to navigate between the roadmap steps.
My question is where should I placed these navigation buttons? On each view or only on the roadmap view.
Personnaly and it think it would make more sense to place them only on the roadmap view.
My problem using this approach is has follow: When you are on v_roadmap on step 1 (V_STEP_1), you click on Next to go to the next view (V_STEP_2), actually the action is trigger in V_ROADMAP so I am not able to validate user input field or obligatory field in V_STEP_1. I would have to call an action from V_STEP_1 in V_ROADMAP so the event handler method WDDOBEFOREACTION will be called. I don't think it's possible. The problem here, is you can click on next and you can go to the next view without filling the obligatory fields.
If I placed my navigation buttons on each view. The advantage is that before triggering an action, I can validate user input field, obligatory field in the method WDDOBEFOREACTION before going to the next step.
The desadvantage is that I have to recreate them on each of my view.

Just to close this thread, I will summarize the different possible options:
Navigation buttons on each view: This is the easiest way to validate obligatory fields but for component reuse it's not good idea to have navigation buttons on individual views.
Navigation buttons on main views: If we placed the navigation buttons on our main view, the validation is kind of painful, before firing an outbound plug from the main view and a corresponding inbound plug on the individual view, we will have to manually verify our obligatory fields from the context of the componenent controller or using cross-component data sharing.
Navigation using GAF (Guided Activity Floorplan): I think this option is the way to go! The problem here is that's very difficult to find documentation on that subject, also, the tools from SP 15 is not as user friendly then the one that's coming in NW EhP1.

Mouse navigations problem with Sun Java 1.5.0_*

We need to move from JInitiator to Sun Java Plugin; according to the Forms10g Client Platform Support (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10gR2/clientsod_forms10gR2.html) one of the certified version for Forms 10.1.2.0.2 of the the Sun Java Plugin is 1.5.0_06 and Internet Explorer 6.0, we have tested also SJPI 1.5.0_09 and we get the same mouse navigation problem reported in the following Oracle Forum threads.

You need to use 1.5.0_12 or newer. The client SOD is not up-to-date on this specific point. A lot of navigation problems was fixed in this very release.
The Management team should change this in the client SOD, wonder why they still refer to 1.5.0_06. For Applications, the first 1.5.0 to be certified was _12.
Also make sure, that you are using the latest Patch 3 for 10.1.2 (10.1.2.3). This patch also contains fixes for a lot of these wellknown issues.

Strange flashing cursor problem

Hi,
I've just finished installing Vista 32bit on my Macbook Air (1.6) and its working fine apart from one small problem - when starting up it freezes on a black screen with a flashing cursor for 2-4 mins and then will start loading Vista fine. Once in there is no problem and its stable and what not. I have had a look at some on the articles on here and other forums and the flashing cursor problem usually refers to when people try to first install a MS OS and not once one has been installed successfully.
I only have to boot into Vista every now and then and only for a few minutes at a time so I usually spend as much time in Vista as it does loading.
Any help appreciated.

Unless you did a clean install, and I can't tell what your system maintenance is whether it is what I would do. Backup / clone your system, use ML RECOVERY and erase the system partition and update with just Apple updates, don't restore anything.
Run Apple Hardware Test.
Take it in for a free check and diagnosis.

AS2 XML Flash Navigation

Hello All,
I have been creating a dynamic Flash Navigation based on a tutorial I found online.
I'm having issues aligning the MovieClip house all the array names from My XML file.
I'm using:
var yPosition:Number = 118;
var xPosition:Number = 250;
to align the Movie Clip. For some reason I can adjust the yPosition but I cant get the xPosition to move my MovieClip at all. >:(
Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.

Problem is:
Flash Player for IE11 (which is the worst browser ever developed - BAR NONE) is a Microsoft product, when it comes right down to it.
Adobe writes the base code and yes, they do collaborate on updates for it, but the gang in Redmond alter the plug-in and add "proprietary" code before embedding it, and at that point it's "their baby".
There are two (2) registry keys - 1 for 32 bit IE and the other for 64 bit IE, as well as a KB patch that prevent all but the most experienced Windows users from ever touching the Flash Player plug-in for IE. So there's NO WAY you could have done a clean install of the ActiveX plug-in in Windows 8. Unless you're an uber-geek, you can only update it through Windows Update.
WIn 8 is an abomination and IE11 made it worse. IE has always been the "problem child" of browsers, failing to handle CSS, Javascript, some PHP and most design "tweaks" that good webmasters can use with other browsers, trouble free.
I have IE8 on XP, 9 on VIsta, 11 on 7, 10 on 8 and 11 on 8.1... but they're all for testing only. I'd have to be out of my mind to ever think of using IE as my primary browser. ActiveX controls have to be disabled formost stuff and that opens millions of security holes in IE.
You've got a good video card and a decent sound card. It's a shame to waste them on a pile of garbage like IE, just because it came with Windows.
