Flash noob with Flash pro 8

I got FLash 8 earlier this morning, and would like to animate
this image...

Can anybody point me to a tutorial on how to animate this I
would greatly appreciate it. It's pretty simple. Just the surfboard
starting at the top, and the finished picture looking like that.
It's a fairly simple drawing to do on something like paint etc,
it's just a matter of animating it....
It'll be a loading screen/flash for a
website....thanks!!!!

The QT plug-in is trying to open the file in the browser. QT can open some (not all) Flash media.
Open the QT Control Panel. One of the tabs (Advanced?) has a button for MIME Settings. Open the MIME settings window and remove the check mark (Miscellaneous) for Flash Media. Restart your browser for these changes to take effect.

• Flash acces with flash media serwer

there is any sample/manual how to connect flash access with flash media serwer ?

Currently, there is no document explaining Flash Access interaction with FMS. Also, FMS and FAXS do not communicate. The client communicates with both.
For Video-On-Demand (VOD) assets, they are encrypted with a license and policy. The player connects to FMS to start streaming the file, once the player starts the playback, the policy kicks in, and then the player contacts FAXS using the licensing info in the file. So the player communicates with both FMS and FAXS – the servers don’t communicate with each other.
So FAXS (and FMRMS, which is what version 1.x was called) only worked for the VOD case. Now with FAXS 2.0 for Protected Streaming you can use DRM for both Live and VOD HTTP streaming cases – but not for Live RTMP streaming. Here’s the link for the Protected Streaming docs: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashaccess/pdfs/FAXS_3_0_ProtectedStreaming.pdf
Now with FMS 4.5, there is protected HTTP Streaming for Flash (PHDS) and iOS (PHLS). To configure PHDS/PHLS, you provide the DRM protection (w/SWF Verification support) without requiring the license server:

Let me know if you have any more questions.

• Unable to view flash content with Flash 10,0,22,87 as an Non Admin

We currently have an issue with in our Citrix farm with Windows 2003 Servers (x64, R2, SP1) Where Flash Flash 10,0,22,87 is installed and working fine when logged in as a Domain administrator but will not work as a normal (non administrative user) to confirm I've given a user who it did not work for Domain admin rights and it started working straight away. I'm using (and published within Citrix) the 32bit version on IE for compadibility reasons and have also tired this on a Window 2003 Server (x86 R2 SP1) and am getting the same results so I have to assume the issue is with Flash and not with my setup.
I've tried the following recommendations:
Remove with Adobe Flash removal tool and Reinstalling via website with an Domain admin login using the change user /install command
Remove with Adobe Flash removal tool and Reinstalling via install_flash_player_ax.exe installer with a domain admin account using the change user /install command
Allowing Domain users Modify Premissions (to both the Directories and Files) to the M:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\swflash.ocx & M:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\Flash10b.ocx

Following KB article http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19148.html and checking the registry premissions on these items
I've enabled all ActiveX and Java related IE options in Group Policy to allow the to run for the Internet Zone
When going to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ either as a Domain admin or a Regular user it confirms that "You have version 10,0,22,87 installed"
Still I cant seem to get flash components of websites to load when logged in as a non Administrative User.

this is what fixed the issuefor me:

• Steps to insert a clickTag in a Flash Banner with Flash MX 6 & Adobe CS3 Version

Hi Folks
I am very new to this forum + having a basic level of
understanding with Flash Software (like Flash MX & Adobe CS3).
By profession i am online trafficker, and because of the fact that
our Flash Creative Designer has gone on a leave, i therefore
stumble upon with a challenge of inserting a "clickTag" in a flash
banner.
Here my expertise stands null, but yeah offocurse i did try
many options but no result.
So guys help me in this, what i wish to know the exact step
by step procedure to insert a "clickTag" in a Flash banner for both
Flash MX version 6 & Adobe CS3 version.
I'll be happy if you guys come up with any step by step
sitemap.
Thanks & Cheers
Nawaz Shahzad

Right, well who could blame Adobe for saying that? It's not
Adobe's fault. It's that most of the hosting sites have cold feet
(IMHO) and fear that they'll have viewers who don't have the latest
version which means their advertisers won't get the most bang for
their buck.
I keep waiting for them to at least increase the max
allowable player version to FP8... but I have not seen that yet...
will keep my fingers crossed that it happens soon. But what it
boils down to is that you need to check with the hosting site
before designing a banner so that you don't include filters (FP8)
or use AS3 (FP9) if they are not supporting those players
yet.

• Help A Flash Noob With SWF files

I used a flash template to create a 3d photo gallery for some
prints I want to sell on my website.
I have the swf, xml, fla and an as file. The gallery works
perfectly on my computer.... now, how do I get it on my website.
Please help.

Sorry this is a rather late response!
What I've managed so far is to copy the url of your first window, then open clipconverter, paste it in and start. I don't know how to make it check when clipconverter is ready though. I'll try working on it a bit more, but I don't think I can do the rest (I'm very inexperienced by the way, so I'm not saying it isn't possible)
Meanwhile does this first part work for you?
tell application "Safari"
set x to URL of document 1
              open location "www.clipconverter.cc"
end tell
tell application "Safari" to activate
tell application "System Events"
      delay 5
set CR to ASCII character of 13
      keystroke tab & x & CR
end tell

• Flash Video With Flash Player On Password Protected Website

Hi,
I'm using the HTML widget to use the code for the JW flash player. I want it to play a flash video hosting on my iDisk.
The site this is embedded on I've checked as password protected. HOWEVER...
1) The visitor can see the site without asking for any name/password. But when they try to play the video they DO get asked for a name and password, but not the name/pass for the site. Instead the visitor is being asked for the MobileMe user name and password.
How can I fix this?

Where do you have the flash files located on your iDisk that you are linking to from within the HTML snippet?

• Can I use Flash with Flash catalyst?

I was wondering, since Flash Catalyst apparently only uses
"rudimentary animation", can I use Flash Professional with Flash
catalyst? I would like to do more complex animations, and I was
wondering if there was a way to import those animations into Flash
Catalyst,

Flash Professional will definitely be the tool for creating
complex animation. The tweaks they have done to the animation
engine will blow away designers giving them intuitive tools to use
for creating animation. Designers will absolutely love how easy it
is to animate now.
As for whether or not Flash Catalyst can handle that... From
the trial software I received at Adobe MAX... it appears you can
import SWFs. In fact, as soon as you import them, they start
playing right there in the IDE. But I am not sure how much control
you have over the SWF once you import it. No SWC import though.
I was curious if there are any round tripping features
between Flash Professional and Flash Catalyst. Because the way I
understand it, Flash Catalyst is a way for traditional designers to
use Fireworks, Illustrator and Photoshop to build RIAs... they said
nothing of using Flash Professional.

• Successfully using a Native Extension with Flash CS5.5 Pro, having issues

Hey all,
I'm trying to use a native extension due to an app rejection about the new storage guidelines. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to use a native extension from Flash CS5.5 and the adt command line utility (I've never used before).
Apples storage guidelines in 5.0.1 require files saved to Documents (and other places) to be marked with the icloud "do not back up" bit. I'm trying to use Adobe's IOS 5.0.1 data storage native extension to do that as I have file sharing enabled and my app downloads files I want the user to be able to copy to their desktop.
From the bits and fragments I'm reading all over, getting it to compile means using the command line adt tool (I've never used it before) because Flash Pro CS5.5 doesn't support native extensions. Also, this native extension requires a v14 SWF published (11.1) and CS5.5 only goes up to 10.2 (or higher if you install the players).
I edited the AiriPhone.xml file and pointed it to an AIR 3.1 airglobal.swc and I have AIR 3.1 overlayed in flash. I can't test AIR for iOS anymore after that change but I can get it to compile a SWF. The adt command line adt utility stopped complaining that my SWF version was 13 when it needed 14, so I assume this worked?
I am trying to compile a debug version so I can see trace statements to see if the native extension reports success on changing the bit. Here is my command line cobbled together from scraps of info on adobe.com and the -help data:
adt -package -target ipa-debug -connect 192.168.1.80 -provisioning-profile myApp.mobileprovision -storetype pkcs12 -keystore myApp.p12 myApp.ipa myApp-app.xml myApp.swf dat AppIconsForPublish Default-Landscape.png Default-LandscapeRight.png -extdir extensionDir
Before this iCloud change this app published directly from Flash Pro CS5.5 without any issues. I am only running into issues getting this app to work with this native extension and/or published correctly.
I am including the folders "dat" and "AppIconsForPublish" as well as splash screens (this app is landscape-only) as well as that extension in the folder extensionDir.
After putting in my password my app compiles into an IPA which I can drop into iTunes. It has the same general size as the IPA generated from Flash Pro. The icon is correct, etc.
When I sync this file, the progress bar goes across, I see it loading on my iPad and then once it goes to install I get a popup saying "iTunes Sync: 'myApp' failed to install."
Is there anything obvious wrong with my adt line? Has anyone else used this native extension? Ideas on what I can do to fix this?
No, unfortunately I did not build this with Flash Builder. I am an avid user of it now and this would be a moot point as it uses ANEs and changes SWF versions trivially. I have to get this to compile using Flash Pro CS5.5 though.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
edit:
Just FWIW, after I updated the .xml to use the latest AIR and such (so the version is 14) I removed the extension, exported purely from Flash Pro CS5.5 and the app works fine. As soon as I enable the <extension> in the XML I can no longer install the app. This just appears to be a noob adt publish issue.

My app downloads PDFs, movies and other information-esque files and saves them to the apps Documents folder so they can be retrieved via file sharing. These files not being in something purgable like /Library/Caches and not having the "do not back up" bit is why I was rejected.
update: It's definitely my command line building.. I took out the native extension completely and published from flash to an IPA and it works. I then run adt on the same SWF that just worked and it fails to install. So the install failing is my command line. I see this article and my command line is very similar. I'm really uncertain why it's failing.

• Issues with Flash Pro CS5 on Mac

Hi,
I recently bought a MacBookPro 15", 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 and CS5 Creative Suite. Built in Intel HD Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M.
Hi have some issues with Flash Pro:
- when objects on the stage are quite big (for example a 800x3000 movie clip), it start showing strange colors and wrong position, however when double clicking the movie clip to edit it, it looks correct. Also no problem when publishing. See images attached, the first one is correct, the second one shows the problem, when editing the mc in the 2nd image i get the third image that is correct.
Correct:
Wrong:
After entering editing mode:
- after a while, when making a change in the stage or in the time line (deleting frames for example), it doesn't show it immediately, but i need to refresh the page. This happens more when opening many fla in the same time. Closing and restarting Flash fixes it, for a while.
- after a while it doesn't show when selecting an object, the object looks like is not selected, however i can see that it is in the properties panel.  This happens more when opening many fla in the same time.  Closing and restarting Flash fixes it, for a while.
Hi have been using CS3 and CS4 with less powerful computers before (always mac) and i never encountered these issues.
Removing preferences and Application support files didn't help. I also updated Flash  to v. 11.0.1, but no joy.
Does anyone know what's the problem?
Thanks a lot.
Mike

Based on some searching and testing, it seems that if you redirect ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5 to a location on the local hard drive, rather than the network account storage, the problem ceases.
I hope this helps anyone else who may run into this problem.
Take care,
Branden

• When i boot i get a flashing folder with a question mark. disk utility doesnt work or read my harddrives to boot with. i installed a new SSD and its not reading that either. i have a macbook pro 2011, any help?

So I came to this problem a while ago. M ycomputer basically froze so I was forced to shut down by holding the button down. When I started it up I got the flashing folder with a question mark. I started it up holding down the command and r keys which brought me to disk utility. Although my computer doesn't read that I have a hard drive to start it up. When I click on the disk utility app, I cannot verify or repair anything either. The buttons won't allow me to click on them. It also shows "Mac OSX Base System" which shows I have files and what not saved. I had been told that I need a new hard drive so I bought and manually installed a OWC SSD 240GB drive and when i booted the computer up it booted up yo the operating system fine with all my files and what not on there. After about twenty minutes, it froze again. I forced a shut down, restarted and the same thing happened. I am not able to choose my SSD to boot up, although thats probably because it doesn't have an operating system installed on it??
i have a Macbook Pro 13" 2011
any help would be great, I'm overall confused.

ryansaint11,
this isn’t Apple support; this is a user-to-user forum. We’re just fellow users of Apple products here.
If you want to boot from your SSD, then you should put the SSD where your HDD currently is, and put the HDD into the optical bay. (That setup will also get you the best performance.) At the moment, you’re still booting from your HDD. Note that you will need to format your SSD in Disk Utility [with the “Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)” format] so that you can install OS X onto it.
Since you have an Early 2011 model, it might or might not have originally come with grey installation DVDs. You will be able to find out whether it did or not by trying to use OS X Internet Recovery to install OS X onto your SSD. If it does not work, or if the installed OS turns out to be Snow Leopard, then it will have originally come with the DVDs, and you should purchase a replacement pair of DVDs from Apple or iFixit; those discs will have your MacBook Pro’s Apple Hardware Test and its iLife apps. If the installed OS turns out to be Lion, then it will not originally have come with the grey installation DVDs, and your Apple Hardware Test will be installed along with Lion, and your iLife apps will be downloadable from the Mac App Store.

• Adobe Flash Player 10.1 issues, errors with Quickbooks Pro 2010 installation

I recently - uh today - had an agonizing experience installing Quickbooks Pro 2010 because I kept receiving error messages during the Quickbooks installation. It was a new cd that I had purchased a few months ago from Costco, and had been putting off using it, or even installing it.
So today, I tried to install it, and failed repeatedly. I kept getting the same message, Adobe Flash player file is unavailable - with a drop down screen showing the location of the flash player file that the installation software was trying to find so it could continue the installation. I think I recall seeing an error message originally with Adobe Flash Player 10.1, but it's been a long day, so maybe the error was always referring to Flash Player 8.0.  I tried to browse for a new location that the Flash Player file might be located, looking through the Program Files\Adobe and coming up with nothing.
I spent a long time looking through the discussion forums on both Quickbooks and Adobe trying to find the answer, also turning off and on my computer,  ha. And I installed the latest Flash version, Flash Player 10.1, then uninstalled it and then reinstalled it, and then uninstalled it and looked for the obsolete Flash Player 8.0 which I couldn’t find on Adobe’s website, but found links to in two other forums…So basically, I tried to solve this on my own, and it didn't work.
So...I was whining to a friend who suggested I just call Quickbooks technical support. Duh, why didn't I think of that? I guess because the packaging on the new software says that fees may apply if you call customer service.  Well, it doesn't apply to the first call, and also it's crazy to charge someone who can't even install the program. So I called them, and was on hold forever.
But the problem was solved.
The tech support person, Manish, was able to install Quickbooks by completely bypassing the usual installation procedure.  He checked for compatibility, which was fine, I have Windows XP, etc. and then I believe went to control panel, add or remove programs, and clicked on add programs, and followed the icons with the Wizard to install the latest version of Quickbooks.  The interesting thing here is that QB has some special download to allow remote access during a trouble shooting call. It initially freaked me out, but it worked just fine, since I could see what was happening on my computer screen even though I wasn't the one operating the computer.
I asked Manish why this installation method seemed to work. He said some of the Quickbooks cds have a bad Flash Player program file, and doing it this way seems to bypass it. He also said that Quickbooks should not compatibility issues with Flash 8.0 or Flash 10.1, but there were some problems noted with Flash Player 9.0.  I asked if I would have problems if I uninstalled Flash Player 8.0 and then reinstalled 10.1. He said there shouldn’t be problems, so that’s what I just finished doing.
Hopefully this is helpful for someone else out there in cyberland.
Also, it was kind of helpful, someone else posted on another forum that you could check what flash files you have by going to C:\Windows\System 32\Macromed\Flash, because I couldn’t even find where the Flash Player was installed.  They are not in the Program files under Adobe.

Hi, well that sounds like quite an ordeal. Your Flash files are located in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash with a right click and post back all files listed there. It may be a good idea to just confirm that they are correct.
Then Using Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Manage addons and Toolbars & Extensions and look for a box Show all add ons.
You should find Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control..Flash10h.ocx and make sure it is enabled.
The Flash files and that ActiveX Control is Flash Player.
Now if you use another browser, you may want to post that version info as well. Also, what service pack do you have with XP?
Thanks,
