Flash not Always being detected

OK - I updated to the latest flash player and either the
player or the detection scripts on many pages appear to be broken
by the new activex control
For example going to
http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/
gives the correct version number 9,0,115,0 in IE7, Firefox and
Opera.
Going to
http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/?ogn=EN_US-gntray_prod_flex_home
gives the error "This content requires Flash" in IE7 but works ok
in Opera and Firefox.
This also is the problem with many pages which use detection
scripts, or scripts which pass variables to flash, either the "No
flash Present" message appears or no variables are passed and flash
controls (eg navigation) don't work.
Any ideas anyone?
Stuart

  • Webcams not always being detected in Linux??

    Taken from http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php?topic=103456.0
My webcam works great with Skype and Cheese and it used to work great with a program called FaceFlow but now when i try to use it with FaceFlow i get the following pop-up: Adobe Flash Player can't locate a camera on my computer? I have installed via Synaptic the latest version of Adobe Flash Player which is 11,1,102,63 but without any affect?
Would it be possible to uninstall the present version of Adobe and use an older version in the hope that the webcam will be recognised?"
I did a quick test of FaceFlow the other day ......  I have two webcams for testing, one is an older model and the other a uvc compatible device.
Faceflow would not recognise the older model, only the uvc camera.
Seems you have come across the same problem  "
    What's the problem with this?

  • SSD's not working/ being detected - Windows install errors on HP Dv6-1149wm laptop

Okay, well I have tried three different brand new ssd's: 1. kingston v300 120gb SSD, 2. samsung 840 120gb ssd, and 3. another kingston v300 120gb SSD. Tried in that order.
The Kingston drives- Were not detected at all by the bios no errors or nothing, nada. When attached to a different computer running windows the drives are detected fine. nothing wrong there.
The Samsung drive- This was the second drive I tried. It was detected by the bios but diagnostics gave me the "303 quick" Error. When installing windows through a USB, it would ask me for drivers before proceeding. When installing from a cd, I could get to the point where I see the drive listed. I would get errors when I would try to partition it or format it. Not even partitioning the drive through command prompt using diskpart worked. It would return an error saying incorrect parameter or something like that (Note I was able to partition the drive here but not format to ntfs).  I could manually partition it on another system all the way. Formating/partitioning via a different system allowed me to get all the way into the installation up until the point where it says "installing features" then it gives me an error saying it was unable to set the system local - or something like that. On top of that I also tried installing windows on the other system which worked great but would not transfer over to the laptop. I also tried cloning the previos drive onto the ssd but when booting up the computer gave me a disk read error.
My personal desktop drive(OCZ Vertex 4 128GB)- This one worked fine. Computer diagnostics picked it up fine and didn't report errors. The only thing is I didn't try installing windows on it because I already had an install there.
My thoughts- My best guess is that there is some sort of incompatibility with the drives firmware and the computers BIOS. The Bios (Insyde h20 F.21) is very limiting to begin with, too user friendly and not much to do there, second it hasn't seen an update since 2011. Seems to me like SSD technology might be advancing quicker than HP can keep up with their updates (This of course assuming its the BIOS that is at fault)
I am open to ideas suggestions, basically anything that can help me out at this point. I've spent many hours on this and I have turned out empty.

    Hi,
I suggest to read this thread:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Hardware-Upgrades-Replacements/probook-6560b-does-not-recognize-my-SSD/...
Your thoughts are exactly the same as mine. The motherboard doesn't like the firmware or the controller on the SSD.
This manual says that AMD doesn't support SSD:

  • Know what I'd like? I'd like another option for Adobe Flash - not always on, not always off ... ask me if I want something to use flash.

I go through the news, see interesting articles and open them in another tab and another and another. Throughout the day, I read the articles and slowly close the tabs. I hate having to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to shut down Adobe Flash because all of those tabs are playing whatever at the same time. I'd like to have the option under Firefox>Tools>Add Ons to select 'Ask me' instead of just Always Activate or Never Activate.
Want to make your product better? Take this idea and incorporate this option for all of the Add Ons.
    Thanks!
Using Windows 8, Firefox 24.0 and it's up to date ... according to my About Mozilla Firefox window.

hello, this is already possible for plugins: enter '''about:config''' into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''plugins.click_to_play'''. double-click it and change its value to '''true''' then you can set plugins to "always ask" in the addons manager.

  • Photos taken on iPhone not always being added to PhotoStream folder on iPhone

All summer, every photo I took on my iPhone 4s was duplicated in the PhotoStream on my phone and copied to my PC (Windows 7).  After all of our trips, I removed a lot of photos from my phone - both from the Camera Roll and from the PhotoStream.  Now, a few of the photos I take are duplicated into the PhotoStream -but most are not.  Earlier this week, I took 4 photos.  The last 2 replicated.  the first 2 did not.  Yesterday, one I took at lunch time (away from home) was duplicated and the ones I took at home after dinner were not.  None of the ones I took today have replicated.    I have reinstalled my iCloud software (even though I didn't see how that could be the problem), and I have turned off the PhotoStream on my phone and turned it back on several times.  Still nothing is duplicated into the PhotoStream, so of course, none of the photos are being replicated to my PC.
    Ann suggestions?

I generally press the button at the bottom of the phone to return to the home screen so that I can go to my Photos  app and look at my albums.  Surely that closes the camera app.  In the Photos app in the Albums view, I can see the Camera Roll and My Photo Stream - but photos that I just took show in the Camera Roll and not in My Photo Stream.
Thanks, for the help, but it seems that I have already done all 4 of the steps suggested in the Troubleshooter.  (te((I don't see photos in My Photo Stream on my iOS device.)

  • IPod touch not always being recgnized in iTues

Lately I've had something funny happening with my iPod / iTunes. When I connect my iPod to the compter, the computer recognizes it (I get the autoplay window and the iPod charges), but iTunes is acting funny.
iTunes will usually auto start, but sometimes it hangs and won't resond to clicks, and it dosn't recognize my iPod and it doesn't sync. Eventually if I fiddle around enough (restart my computer and iPod a few times) it will eventually work. I've got the most recent versions of iTunes and iPod software. Anyone have any idea why it may be doing this, and more importantly how to correct it?

This seems to have been fixed in OS 3.1 and later.

  • CUDA / Mercury not always being used

    Good Day,
    Running Win7 64-bit on a Six-Core Athlon 3.2ghz, 8 Gigs of ram. Latest 257.21 64-bit nvidia drivers as well.
I picked up a GTX285 to speed up exports and the first time I exported it took a 10 minute export down to just over 30 seconds with NO CPU load that I could see.
Now, however, seems that CS5 Premiere Pro isn't using the Mercury engine to export as it's back to CPU-only exports...
Is there any way to force it to use the Mercury Engine?
Just tested it again using TechPowerUp GPU-Z which shows GPU load.
In Photoshop, it shows the offloading of brushes to the GPU, but in Premiere Pro, no GPU load while editing, playing or exporting!
I did check in the Project Settings to make sure it's set to the Mercury GPU setting as well...
    Much thanks,

Is that so?  The speed difference between with and without was phenomenal.  A 2-minute WMV took 7 minutes to export with non-accelerated effects, but just under 2 minutes without any effects at all!  How did the happen?

  • Gap resolution is not  always happening with real time apply

    Hi
I noticed a strange behavior in one of my 10.2.0.4 dataguards , and I am wondering if anyone else has encountered it :
When there is an archive gap that need to be resolved , the gap is NOT always being identified and acted upon , when the recovery is started as such :
ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE DISCONNECT FROM SESSION.
its just sitting there doing nothing, and nothing is written to the alert log regarding the gap and nothing is being transferred from the primary as needed.
However, if I restart the apply , omitting the 'USING CURRENT LOGFILE' clause , the gap is identified and acted upon, as such :
ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE DISCONNECT FROM SESSION.
At first I thought its merely due to me stopping and starting the apply process ( nothing like a "reboot" , right ? ) , but that is not the case.
if I restart , but still use the USING CURRENT LOGFILE clause , the gap is still not being identified .
Anyone had this issue ? any theories as to why that happens ?

  • Render previews seems to not always update all modified photos

    Here's what I do:
I use a tower and a laptop. On my tower I have all the original photos available for Lr, on the laptop not. I keep all of my photos in a single catalog, and when I'm not at home I use the catalog on an external harddrive. So I would like all of my previews being up-to-date. Therefore I start the Lr catalog from my external harddrive while it is connected to my tower (hence having access to all originals) and choose to render the standard previews from all folders where I did modifications. Then when I use Lr on my laptop, every now and then I still find some pictures with no updated preview (gray box instead of thumb and preview picture). I guess that these were pictures that I modified on my tower in develop mode without going back to library grid or loupe mode.
Could it be that (sometimes) the standard previews are not always being updated immediately when I modify a picture in develop mode? So that Lr sometimes  "thinks" that the previews are still up-to-date even though they aren't?

The ACR cache should set itself (update) as you work with the files. I suspect however if you work on a machine where the cache files reside, but have the other data on a separate drive, on a separate machine, this *may* be why they don’t appear to update. If you save them to the external driver all the time, just move it from machine to machine, or back up (clone) this as well as the lrdata, catalog, and images, the updates will travel with you.

  • Hp v235r flash drive not being detected on my computer

    Hi,
I am using hp v235r flash drive for more than 5 years. It's not being detected on my computer since two days. Can any one solve my problem, as there is lot of important data stored in it and hasn't been backed up recently.

    Hello budda48,
Its possible the driver for the pen drive is corrupted in your computer, or the drive has met its end of life.
First, confirm that the Pen Drive is seen by other computers. Plug it in to another computer that you havent tried yet.
If it is not working on other computers, then the usb drive is corrupted and there wont be anything else we can do.
If it is working in other computers, then try these steps to troubleshoot the Pen Drive.
Confirm that the port on the computer is not bad. Choose a different port to insert the drive. Next…
Part 1: Make sure that the drive has a drive letter assigned in Disk Management.
Open Computer Management by right clicking on Computer and clicking Manage.
Click on Disk Management. Give it a moment to open the view of the drives installed.
Look for a drive that does not have an assigned drive letter and is not labeled as System Reserved.
Note: System reserved drives are reserved by Windows and will not allow you to assign a letter.
Right-click the unlabeled drive and click Change drive letter and paths…
Click Add and then click OK to select the first available drive letter.
If the Change drive letter and paths… option is not available, make sure that the drive is Online.
If the drive is Offline, right-click the disk number and click Online.
Part 2: If the drive does have a letter assigned and it still does not work, uninstall the driver.
You can safely remove any usb drivers that are not in use (hidden drivers). Devices that get plugged in later will simply reinstall its needed driver again.
Remove the pen drive from the computer if it’s attached.
Right click Computer and click on Properties. In the System window on the left side, click on Advanced System Properties.
Choose the Advanced tab and click on Environment Variables… button at the bottom.
Under System Variables, click on the New… button
Type this in the box that pops up. Variable Name: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices and also give the Variable Value: 1
Click OK on all the open windows to close them out.
Go to Computer Management again and click on Device Manager. Go to View at the top of the window and click on Show Hidden Devices.
Click on the drop down arrow for Universal Serial Bus Controllers to open the list. Look for any USB Mass Storage Device that is hidden (greyed out) and delete it. There may be several and it’s ok to delete all those hidden USB Mass Storage Devices.
When you connect the pen drive to the computer again, give it a minute to reinstall the driver.

  • USB Storage devices not being detected - device nodes not created?

    Hi,
I've installed Arch Linux 64-bit on my Dell workstation, and it doesn't seem to be picking up my USB storage drives. Kernel version is 3.6.3-1.
When I plug in a drive, I see in dmesg:

However, I don't see anything else. There's nothing about creating device nodes, or anything like that.
My output from `fstab -l` doesn't seem to mention anything about USB drives either, just my two system drives.

  • Ipod not being detected on my dell latitude620

I just got a dell latitude 620 laptop
My ipod is being detected as a "device"
My ipod will charge, but itunes does not recognize it.
I've uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it twice.
And tried about 90% of what apple support suggests
There is nothing wrong with the laptop...that im aware of.
    Please help
    - manic mass

When you uninstalled iTunes, did you uninstall *everything*? Take a look at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925 , and make sure you completely uninstall iTunes, including the drivers, before you reinstall. If that doesn't work, you might try going back to the last version of iTunes you knew was working -- at least, that will eliminate the question of whether it is iTunes or the iPod. Lastly, sometimes rebooting either the computer and/or the iPod (remember the 5Rs) can sometimes solve the issue.

  • My Ipod Nano 5th generation is not being detected by Widows and Itunes. I have tried everything based on the trouble shooting tips outlined. Has anyone had this situation before? How was it resolved. My Ipod is just out of warrenty

Have done all trouble shooting tech a through Apples and still have not resolved issues on Windows and itunes not detecting my Ipod  nano 5th generation device. Tried restoring the device manually using disk mode and still not being detected by the computer. Device is our of warenty as when service repair charges are $125.00 dolars more than I paid for this device. There must be some way to restore the entire device to factor settings without having to be connected to itunes and Windows. I wish I could connect but again device is not being read. I have another Ipod that is 8GB instaed of 16GB and it works fine. The sad thing about this situation is that my 9year old daughter worked hard doing delivering fliers for a long time to save her money to buy this 16 GB 5th generation Nano. Otherwise the Ipod works well but will not syncronize songs as it is not being detected. Maybe this is a result of corrupt files that got onto my daughters Ipod somehow and thus causing it not the be detwected through the USB connection thus as a result not be understoud as a working device through Windows and itunes. If anyone can help me out there including itune techs that would be well appreciated, but for now my daughter is not able to add new or delete any songs on her ipod as well pictures, and everything. Thanks

Try changing the cord. I could NOT get my computer to recognize my iPod 5th Gen until I read somewhere that different apple devices use different cords. I was inadvertently using my iPad cord and that caused my computer to not recognize my ipod.

Ipod Touch 4th generation 32G not turning on, not charging.
I have used multiple cords on both computer USB and wall USB converters. I let it sit there for over 20 min with each attempt.
It is not being detected by Itunes or my Windows 7 64bit OS. I have tried all 4 of my USB ports (both USB 2.0 and 3.0), with 3 different chargers.
Holding home and power button will not reset.
Tried taking it out of "DFU" mode but Itunes won't detect it, I didn't think that would work anyway.
NO DAMAGE, I have been very careful with it, aside from a few minor scratches. (that you can't even see unless the light reflects them)
My Itunes is up to date, as is my OS.
All I'm getting is a blank black screen. It has been working fine on this computer before. I have no idea what could have happened. I'm at my wits end here.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
