Flash not installed - yet UAC prompt on website?

Hey!
I did not have flash installed. Using Windows 7 64-bit together with Internet Explorer 8 I went to a web page and then suddenly UAC prompted me something about Adobe Flash Player. I quickly hit cancel and didn't click on "Details". This worried me. So I went to another site I knew had flash, after some browsing there I got the UAC prompt again and this time I hit details and I got this "Download from Internet" (Sorry for not exact translation, I have a different language OS)
It only came sometimes. I do not understand why UAC showed up. Shouldn't that yellow thing show up? What's this about with UAC?
Thanks

Hi, There is nothing to be concerned about. The UAC stands for User Account Control and is a Security Feature from Windows Internet Explorer. Since most websites use Flash, every website that does will want you to Install Flash Player. Since the Install of Flash Player also Installs an ActiveX Control, then IE will give you that Security Warning from the UAC.
You only want to allow an ActiveX Control to be Installed on your computer, then you will receive that IE warning. Sometimes you will see the yellow bar and this is from the website that has nothing to do with wanting you to Install Flash Player. I have Flash Player Installed and sometimes get that yellow bar also, but since I know it is not about Flash Player then I have to decide whether I want allow the download of an ActiveX Control just to see their website. I decline since I don't want to see whatever that website has to offer with the risk of having to Install their ActiveX. You only allow any ActiveX Control to be Installed on your computer form Trusted Companies.
I have a link that explains with screenshots how to adjust that UAC and I'll find it for you and post it.
Hope that explains a little what you are experiencing.

How would I transfer bookmarks from my computer, from firefox 3.6.1, to firefox 4 (not installed yet) on the same computer, without losing any of the bookmarks?

If you want to make sure to have your bookmarks in FF4. You can always backup your bookmarks on your PC and import it into FF4 later:
Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Export as HTML
and save it anywhere in your PC.

Acer Aspire One AMD C-60 APU with Radeon HD graphics 1.0 Ghz/4GB RAM/500GB T45H3P135, Windows 7, 64-bit (BTW the WIN 64-bit used the Akamai down loader with a -32 in the suffix-could that cause any problem?)  I would like to confirm if my machine is compatible (will it run but slowly?) before attempting final install? or what if I install & find it's not compatible? • Adobe Captivate 4 - Flash Not Installed Error

We are using Adobe Captivate 4 on Windows 7.  Since the Microsoft Windows Updates around January 8, we are unable to open Adobe Captivate 4.  We get the message that the Flash Player is to be installed and the application shuts down after the message that an Internet connection is required.  I have followed the steps on the Adobe Help page:  Error: "Adobe Flash Player is not currently installed" when you start Adobe Captivate with no success.  I have even uninstalled Adobe Captivate 4, reinstalled it and followed the instructions on the aforementioned Help page.  No luck.  I am running Firefox and Internet Explorer and IE is the default browser.  Adobe Captivate 4 acts as though it cannot connect to the Adobe Flash website, but I already have the most current Flash Player installed.  We use Adobe Captivate 4 primarily for Quizzes since we can effectively e-mail the results to trainers. We do have Adobe Captivate 7 and the Quiz Results e-mail feature does not send the results; only a blank e-mail shell.  Is there any solution to this Captivate 4 problem?

Unfortunately, that is not an option.   I work for a state government and the computers are locked down for security reasons.  Updates are handled by an IT group and pushed out to all state computers.  We were running Flash Player 10 and everything worked fine until the Flash Player Update was pushed out as a Microsoft Update on January 8th.  There have been subsequent "Security Updates" to the Flash Player pushed out via Microsoft and none have corrected the problem.  Even if I could uninstall the current Flash Player and install an older version, it would just be updated to the current Flash Player tonight.

  • Flash Not Installed on N97

Hello, I'm trying to access www.cityindex.co.uk trading platform on the N97, cityindex assure me it is possible on the N97. However when I load up the page and then click the login link in the top right. After a while a message pops up saying "Flash is not installed" or something along those lines, it doesn't last long before the screen goes blank.
Can other people replicate the problem, any ideas on a fix?

flashlite is actually a build in component of the browser. there is no stand alone app that i know of installed on the n97
you might want to try another browser to see if you can read your websites

  • I keep getting an "SSL has not propagated yet" message on secure websites

On any secure website, I get a message in Firefox warning "SSL has not propagated yet." Nothing seems to be affected, I can still access the sites (this one for example), but the message keeps popping up.
This all started this morning when 11.0 was installed, I went back to 10.0 but that did not resolve the problem.

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    S
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • CC says some apps not installed yet they are. :((

Downloaded and installed CC2014 with all the GB's required. Yet its still asks me to install again, only three apps are up to date. The rest all appear with install next to them. I can open them and run them. But I am sure they won't update without being under my apps. Very boring I don't want to have to reinstall all the apps again. Any ideas please.

James please utilize the steps in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html to restore the ability to update your installed applications.
If there are currently updates available that you are unable to apply then it is likely you will need to remove and reinstall those applications.

  • Adobe flash not installed

been three days trying, can not get adobe flash to install. done uninstall and re-installed 30 to 40 times. reedit. tried to install older version. checked add-ons. spent hour or two in forum and useless adobe help search.

I'd like to help get this working for you.  What operating system and browser are you trying to install Flash Player to?  What's happening when you install?  Do you get an error?  If not, what's your browser telling you when you try and view Flash content?
    Thanks,

  • Web Sites telling me Flash not installed, but it is?

Have some web sites such as greeting cards (more then 1) and
    such when I go
to the cards I am told that Flash is not installed. But when
    it goes to the
Adobe site I am told that 9.0.124.0 is propertly installed.
    Using the
latest version of IE 7, is this a problem that can occur?

<snip> I told them I was now thinking of abandoning all
    Adobe/Macrom
    products and going
to Quark and similar. Problem is I have a growing need for
    Flash. Does
anyone know if Adobe are going to support x64 ??
    </snip>
Threatening to migrate to Quark would give them a great
    chuckle....Quark's
days are numbered only by how long they can keep an old
    footprint. With
Adobe showing record profits with 32bit Photoshop, this is
    their Ford
Taurus.....Adobe has no motivation to be relatively
    competitive with their
other products....As with FLASH, I think it is still clumsey
    and not very
non-flasher friendly....but, they have a good footprint at
    this point. And,
Microsoft just cannot get around the bend with their creative
    products
offering no matter how many companies and technology they try
    and buy. IMHO
64bit is like being the only guy in your hood with a hydrogen
    car and
lamenting why it is harder to get serviced than every other
    model. It's
cool being unique but it comes with a price.

  • Adobe Flash Not Installed message

In the last 2 months whenever I put in a CD that requires
Adobe Flash, I get an error message that it is not installed. I
have reinstalled it, removed and reinstalled it, Downloaded fresh
copy (ver. 10), removed and reinstalled it...
    Any ideas?

Hope this isn't too late, but there are a couple fixes.  This is happening because your project is configured (Properties > Flex Compiler > ) to use a specific version of the Flash Player or the minimum version for the SDK (14.0.0.0) , but your Flash Builder installation is pointing at a different version of the Flash Player debugger (11.4.402.265).
So you can do two things:
Download the required version of the Flash Player debugger and configure Flash Builder to use that executable when debugging
    1. Click on the "Adobe Flash Player downloads" link in the dialog.
    2. Click on the Download the Windows Flash Player 14 Project, which is the FlashPlayer executable that runs in Windows.
    3. Copy the file to a new folder in the Flash Builder installation next to the existing 11.4 Flash Player (see your screenshot it is c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.7\player\win\11.4)
    4. Back in Flash Builder
    5. Open Windows > Preferences
    6. Navigate to Flash Builder > Debug
    7. In the Standalone Flash Player(debug version) field click the ellipsis button to launch a file dialog
    8. Navigate to the Flash Player executable you downloaded and copied into the Flash Builder installation above
    9. Click OK to save the settings
    OR
Update the project properties to point to the same specific version that Flash Builder is using (11.4.402.265)
    1. Right click your project
    2. Select Properties from the context menu
    3. Navigate to the Flex Compiler panel
    4. Change the Adobe Flash Player Options field to 11.4.0
    5. Click OK to apply the changes

  • Flash not installing correctly on Maxthon browser

    hi there,
having a problem installing Flash using the Maxthon browser. It used to install fine (I've been using Maxthon for years) but now the Adobe page thinks my browser is Chrome so only offers me "install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe", but when I go to BBC's iPlayer site it tells me I don't have flash installed, but going back to Adobe site which tells me it is installed !
for a while the only problem was with the BBC's iPlayer page. Other flash sites worked fine, but today two websites using flash audio players failed telling me I need flash. Went back to Adobe's flash page and it says I have latest version installed !
any advise on how to get the correct version to install properly ?
    cheers sarah
    PS - running Win 8.1 (64Bit)

Win 8.1 and IE11 have caused this all over the place but this is the first I've seen of it with MaxThon. I don't use MT myself, but doesn't it use the "Gecko" engine (Mozilla)?

  • Swf files won't play, only 1 version of flash is installed and working per adobe website

When someone send me a link leading to an swf file, Firefox opens and flashes a blank screen. I've checked the forum and only one version of flash is installed. Flash is working based on the adobe site and non of them open. Here is a list of links:
    http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00622/beer_goggles_622180a.swf
    http://www.jokeroo.com/bin/player.swf?5f9f_f369
I've looked at the about:config and about:plugins as menioned as solutions in prior posts but my configuration looks good. Any ideas?

Do you mean that Firefox tries to download the file to the temp folder?<br />
That usually happens if a file needs to be send to an external program. If a file is played embedded in a browser tab then the file should go to the cache.
You can try to uninstall and reinstall Flash.<br />
See Troubleshoot Flash Player installation for Windows: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html
Flash Player uninstall: http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157 (this will remove the Firefox Flash plugin and the ActiveX control for IE)

  • Sharepoint 2013 not installed yet, so should I install Sharepointg Integrated mode on my SQL server right now?

    I'm installing SQL 2008 R2 onto a Windows 2008 R2 server in preperation for a Sharepoint 2013 install.
In the midst of the SQL installation here I have the option of installing the Sharepoint Mode Default Configuration.
Should I do this or should I continue installing with native mode dafeult configuration. Then perhaps adding the Sharepoint integration afterwards.
    What would you advise?

You did not mention if you are planning more than 1 server, but best practice would dictate so.
If true, then, do NOT install the SRS components (presume you mean those) on the SQL box.
If you are planning to have BOTH SSRS in Native mode and also a 2nd instance in SharePoint mode, then you "may" elect to install the SSRS Native mode elements on your SQL Server.
You want to install the SSRS instance in SharePoint mode on one of your SharePoint servers.
The requirement for SSRS in SharePoint mode is that it be placed on a SharePoint server.  You have two options:
    1. Make your SQL Server a full fledged SharePoint server in order to use SSRS in SharePoint mode (not recommended)
    2. Setup SSRS on a SharePoint server (recommended)
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks, Eric S. Pcubed
