Flash Not Working in Safari 3 for Mac

Hi,
It seems that Flash is having problems loading external content such as images. Please see the following links:

Flash returns no error messages that are related to the problem of loading content.
Also the SWF loads in every other browser, IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari Windows....

Yes, OK in Firefox using PlashPlayer 10.
In Safari they insist you have (the outdated) version 9! Conclusion: they have not programmed their web pages to conform to the standards Safari expects.
I would email them to complain!

The instillation says that it is successful, however when using Safari I'm informed I do not have flash player installed. When I check the hard drive, flash player in no where to be found. I have tried all of the troubleshooting from the Adobe website, and I am still stumped. I was able to get the Flash Player to run in firefox 5.0, but not Safari.

I am not the most savvy person with computers, what am I missing here??

In my Library/Internet Plug-ins folder I have a file named Flash Player.plugin (it's 22.8 MB however, not 23.9mb) and another named flashplayer.xpt (it's 4 KB however, not856 bytes).
I am unable to open the Plug-Ins menu (the browser pops up but wont load)...is there another way to check for Shockwave Flash?? When I do a search for "Shockwave" on my hard drive I do find a plug-in named "DirectorShockwave.plugin" (76 KB)
Also...The "Open using Rosetta" checkbox was already unchecked

    Enable Plug-ins
    Safari > Preferences > Security
    Internet Plug-ins > "Allow plug-ins"
    Enable it.
    Press " Manage Website Settings" button for more options.

Flash not working in Safari 5

Flash has been buggy for me in Safari 5, ever since I updated the Flash player last week to "10.1 r53". Either Flash files don't play at all, or just the audio plays without video.
Per the instructions on these boards, I have:
1. reset Safari
2. uninstalled flash player
3. installed the flash player
4. repaired permissions
5. restarted
The issue is still there. Firefox plays Flash files, YouTube, etc. just fine. Safari does not.
I'm running SL 10.6.4, latest Software Updates.
Any suggestions?

I created a new account. Flash works in the new account. That's cool, but I really don't want to re-locate all my prefs, etc., just for a buggy plugin.
So, I next...
1. grabbed the Safari plist from the new account
2. logged out of the new account
3. logged into the old account (where Flash does not work)
4. moved the old account's com.apple.safari plist file out of the Preferences folder
5. moved the clean Safari plist file (from the new account) into the Preferences folder
6. reset and restarted Safari
7. Flash worked...for about two minutes. I tested on YouTube, Vimeo and Google Analytics. Back to Flash not working in Safari.
I then tried repeating the earlier steps.
1. reset Safari
2. uninstall flash player
3. install flash player
4. repaired permissions
5. restarted
Still doesn't work.
Just one other thing to note: whenever I pull up a web page with Flash, I get a "file not found" error in Safari's activity monitor (link is below)...could this be an error with Adobe's website rather than a Safari-permission thing?

Hello Friends,
why java & flash is not working in safari?
I have checked Java preferences, tab called general tab, and the checkboxes, both checked. java version run on the termial & it confirmed java by displaying it's version. running perfect.
The problem is java & flash not working in safari, might be because of , so?
when ever i open sites like web design company for project i wasn' t able to open such sites...
kindly guide me for the same.

Flash is totally unrelated to Java, so what you're saying is that certain plugins are not working under Safari of which one just happens to be Java. You're the second one I see make mention of that, but the fact remains that you'd need to ask Apple what is going on with their browser.

YouTube will not work on safari for me on the ipad. Is there anyway to fix this? I can go anywhere else on the internet fine and it works on google chrome, but on safari it shows a blank screen with the bar on top after it loads.

I do not know if it's relevant or not, but I got a message on my ipad while on safari saying that my iPhone has a virus. I looked it up and it seems it might have just been an ad from the website I was on, but it happened around the same time YouTube stopped working.

You will find that using the YouTube app will provide a better viewing experience for YouTube videos.

Flash not working with Safari

I have Safari 5.1 and Lion. Flash will not work in Safari. I have the latest version (I uninstalled the previous version of Flash then installed latest version) Have done Disk Repair, changed Safari to 32 bit mode. Still I just get the message
"Cannot play media.You do not have the correct version of the flash player"
I have Opera, Chrome and Firefox and all play flash. Any ideas - apart from not using Safari!

Is anyone finding that you tube and embedded flash video is not working using safari 6? the video window in youtube is blank, I don't even see the control buttons, flash videos embedded on other sites are similarly blank. Quick check with Firefox shows all these films play normally.

Not sure if this is relateted but as I am having the same problem, I am only having the issue on the account that has Parental Controls enabled. The admin account can open youtube just fine. The Java plug in boxes are checked, I am running in 32 bit mode. I've tried every fix I have come accross to no avail.
On a side note, ever since I installed Mountain Lion, the Mac App Store is also sketchy. The account with Parental Controls can't log in, when I click "sign in" nothing happens. No 3rd party apps such as APE or FruitMenu installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Flash not working in Safari (and Chrome and Firefox) - possible solution

Yesterday my Mac crashed (actually when I was away from it) and when it rebooted, Adobe Flash would freeze any web browser it ran in (Safari, Firefox and Chrome - which surprised me as I thought it used a different version of Flash). Great with so many live-blogs happening in the world of news right now.
I tried all the usual suspects:
* Deleted browser caches;
* Uninstalled Flash (Adobe have an uninstaller available) and reinstalled the same version;
* Uninstalled Flash and reinstalled the newest version;
* Made sure I had no duplicate fonts (I did) as I'd experienced problems with this with an iPhoto upgrade;
* Checked recent upgrades (iWeb and Camera updates) to see what they installed (nothing dangerous);
* Fixed permissions (they needed it);
* Tried running Safari under 32-bit (didn't think that would work as I hadn't updated Flash itself);
* Signed in as another user.
None worked.
As a last resort, I downloaded the latest version of the Onyx utility (freeware) and ran the Maintenance scripts, then, under Cleaning, deleted System cache, User cache, Internet stuff (left the cookies), and Font caches (you'll need to Close all the dialog boxes then Restart at the end). Expect a long reboot.
That worked.
It may not work for everyone but may for someone.

I was having the same issue. I logged into another account, a plain no add-ons account and found that I could view flash content with Safari OK. That mean that there was some preference file in my primary account that was the culprit.
Here's how to cull out the bad apple (pun intended):
Trouble Shooting Preferences
Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the process again and determine if problem is fixed.
If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .
This cleared it up. I ended up with 16 items that were not put back in the preference folder.

Plug-in Failure (Flash not working in Safari but working in Chrome)

I realise there have been threads on this subject but I seem to have tried everything besides re-installing ML at this stage.
When loading any flash content on any website within Safari - I receive a 'Plug-in Failure' message where the content should appear.
I feel the problem has been occurring since downloading the newest update
I was hoping someone could point out if I had missed out on something
Here are the steps I have taken to attempt to resolve this...
1. Uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Flash. (This actually did work once for about a half an hour, i've tried it about half a dozen times)
1a. Turning my computer off and on again
1b. Attempted downgrading my Flash version but the flash installer kept failing.
2. Logged into a guest account (Flash didn't work in safari)
3. Booted up in Safe Mode (Flash worked but very slowly)
4. Reset Safari (Flash didn't work)
5. Disabled Extensions (Flash didn't work)
6. Enabled Plug-ins & Java within Safari (Flash didn't work)
7. Removed plug ins that I believed may be effecting it (Flip4Mac) (Flash didn't work)
8. Deleted all data in the pref pane for Flash (Flash didn't work)
9. Removed all website data within Safari (Flash didn't work)
10. Tested Firefox and flash is also not working in firefox.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.

Cfform type="flash" not working in safari

Yes, I know that only a developer would be using Safari with
windows, (firefox has been a little buggie lately)...
However, it appears that flash is not working. I get a
picture that looks like a blue lego.
The strange thing is that when I go to the adobe website, the
flash presentation on the main page appears to be working...

I have the same (unresolved) problem as the original poster. This occurred following an install of Lion Dev Preview 2 on top of 10.6.7 on my Macbook Air (3, 2). The Java / Missing Plug-in errors go beyond Safari, though. I've logged a good 4-5 hours of support calls with Apple, but all the many rounds of uninstalling/reinstalling of the plug-ins, the OS, Safari, and so on has not been helpful.
Actually at first Mail would not open at all because Mail 5 had been installed and simply putting 10.6.4 from the SL USB didn't fix that until I deleted all traces of Mail then re-re-installed SL. I am having this problem with iPhoto as well, but I imagine that if I can find an iLife disk then that problem is solvable. This simultaneously also screwed up some iPhone/iPad related features but, again the Java / Flash issues seem MUCH more of a mystery and, combined. I think I've tried every combination of preferences in Safari, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling Java/Flash at least 50 times in slightly different ways...

PhotomergeUI.plugin is not working in CS6 for Mac

I am using Photosho CS6 on a Mac. I urgently need the PhotomergeUI.plugin to be working. It was working in Photoshop CS5 after conversion to a 32-bit version. CS6 for Mac is only provided as a 64-bit version. Is there any way to make the plugin work for me? Many thanks!! Simone

No, unfortunately the photomerge ui plugin will not work in photoshop cs6 on the mac side.
You can always use photoshop cs5 for those times when you really need it.
In photoshop cs6 you could align your photos manually as best you can, then select all the layers and go to Edit>Auto-Blend Layers>Panorama with Seamless Tones and Colors checked

Skype not working at all for Mac and iPhone

Hi! I'm running Skype ver.7.10 (777) on OSX Yosemite (10.10.3) on my MacBook Pro. I'm also running Skype ver.5.14.72 on my iPhone 5s on iOS 8.4. I've been having problems with Skype for Mac for the past week. It started with lagging messages in Group Chats (We have around 23 people in there, though usually only half would be online at the same time). It would take anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes to send a single word. Later, I would receive messages 30 minutes after it was sent from friends. Now, I can neither send or receive messages on Skype for Mac. Also, I would be able to chat with my contacts in private one on one chats, but when I tried to uninstall and reinstall the application, I could no longer chat with them and they would appear offline to me, even though I can confirm through webversion of Skype that they are indeed online. As for Skype for iPhone, I noticed I stopped receiving messages late yesterday, but I only got the chance to check it out now. I can no longer send or receive messages from my groups or people I've chatted with on Skype for Mac. In short, my Skype for iPhone now has the same problem for Skype for Mac. So far, I've only tried uninstalling, restarting my MacBook and reinstalling Skype. Same goes for my iPhone; uninstall, restart, reinstall. Really need help here since I have an important Skype conference call scheduled in a few hours. I'm not sure if webversion of Skype supports conference calls...? I hope this issue will be resolved soon though for now, any help will be appreciated.

I've been having a similar issue that began at approximately 7:00 pm EST last night - really hoping there's a solution soon! I've begun to receive messages from a group chat I'm in, but they're still few and far between.

I'm not sure what the problem is. I could play youtube videos etc fine last time I was on the computer and now they just wont work and say 'plug-in missing'. But when I try to download the latest compatible version although the installation says that its successful I still can't play any videos and continue to get the 'upgrade flash player required' message.
I've tried all of the troubleshooting from the Adobe website, and have searched the discussion boards following Chris Campbell's advice (plug-ins are enabled; checked library/Internet Plug-ins folder and moved all of the plugs out to the desktop with the exception of the Flash Player files; unchecked 'Open using Rosetta') from previous posts but still nothing.
Please help, it's really annoying! What am I doing wrong?
