Flash Object has no Publisher or Version in IE11 in Windows 8.1

Hello, I have been trying to get flash player to work, and have tried several avenues in Windows 8.1. I have tried enabling Shockwave Flash, tried disabling ActiveX Filtering, re-register the flash.ocx file, resetting IE11,  and disabling/re-enabling IE11. Nothing has provided any help with this, but what I believe to be the issue is that the shockwave flash object literally has no information attached to it. No publisher, no version number.
Whenever I try to update internet explorer 8.1 64bit it says its up to date.

Whenever I try to update internet explorer 8.1 64bit it says its up to date.
Another adobe flash help page tells me I have flash preinstalled, and that it is just disabled.
Basically this is all the conclusive information I've gathered. I am trying to find a way to update the flash object, but downloading flash player for windows 8 says I have it preinstalled, and I don't know whether deleting the flash.ocx file is a good idea. If anyone has had these issues or feels knowledgeable about what could be going on that needs to be fixed, please let me know. Thanks for any and all help.

Hi Preston,
Firstly, you don't want to delete flash.ocx.  Since Microsoft embeds Flash Player in IE, flash.ocx is locked and you can't delete it unless you mess with the permissions, and doing so will render you unable to resinstall IE to get Flash Player back, short of re-installing Windows (or resetting to factory settings, depending on the system you have).
If you've performed all of the suggested troubleshooting steps and Flash content is still not displaying appropriately in IE, it could be that Microsoft is not identifying the browser as IE in the user agent string, which many websites use to determine which browser is in use and display the content based on the browser.  Microsoft is continuously modifying the user agent string for IE and websites need to adjust how they identify the browser based on other features, not the user agent string.  As a test, using IE, go to What's My User Agent? and post the results here.

I have had the same problem with firefox on facebook. It has happened for the last couple weeks. I can receive gifts under requests and every game I try crashes. I can usually read my homepage. this is getting really bad. I have cleared caches, downloaded what I am told to download to update, and cleared history and cookies and still happens , and have been told to get rid of firefox. what is the problem? and when I sent reports , nothing. and sent emails to all the games and told them and asked for help and never get responses. should I through the computer out the window, or delete you? I know they keep changing things on the games and that usually crashes stuff on mine, but all the time? this sucks. and I probably won't get a response from you either, but if this continues I will have to say, bye bye. It's ridiculous..before the crashes, it would take me over 2 hours to do a game and work on it. there was life before this and will be afterwards. it also happens on my regular email..not the crashing, but so slow and the download goes up and goes way down to almost nothing and keeps doing that.please help us all..thanks.

  • Flash Player Version Shown Below Every Flash Object

Is there some reason that the Flash Player version is shown below every Flash object on every website page that it appears? This didn't happen in older versions. There are times when it obscures content on a site. Is there a way to diable it?
    Thanks.

I am responsible for handling the apps and not at all involved with or know how the folio creation process works.
When I build the app for iOS the iPad version shows the folio that has been published, but the iPhone app is not showing the folio.
Is this something related to the build process or how the folio was created?
The folio also shows up in the Android app (at least the phone I have tested with).
    Thanks,

However, on the iPad, the viewer displays only folios with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The iPhone viewer displays only folios with a 3:2 or 16:9 (1136x640) aspect ratio."

  • How to confirm object has been pinned into exadata flash cache

    Hi ,
Just wanted to confirm , if object has been pinned into flash cache
    SQL>  select segment_name,cell_flash_cache from user_segments where cell_flash_cache='KEEP';
    no rows selected
    SQL> alter table scott.emp storage(cell_flash_cache keep);
    Table altered.
    SQL> select * from scott.emp;
    SQL> select segment_name,cell_flash_cache from user_segments where cell_flash_cache='KEEP';
    no rows selected.

As the author of the mentioned blog post, I should add a point of clarification:  unlike a shared-pool pin, setting cell_flash_cache to KEEP merely prioritizes the object for flash cache usage.  It's still possible to have all or some of the object on disk based on read patterns.  Prior to storage server 11.2.3.3.0 it was necessary to use KEEP for non-full scans to populate the cache, but that's no longer the case.  Since that change I've run into very few situations where CELL_FLASH_CACHE KEEP was required;  mostly the storage server does the right thing on its own.
    Hope this helps!

  • Problem Viewing Flash Object in IE

I have been managing my wife's website. She had someone design it, then the guy stopped responding, so I took over. Im somewhat of a beginner, so I cant figure this one out, and have looked online for resolutions. There are two pages on her site that have flash objects. When you go to either page in IE, you get an error : Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player. It then gives you a link to update, which lets you update, but then doesnt resolve the problem. Like I said, someone else did the basic design, so im not sure where they went wrong.
    The two pages are:
    http://www.karabakerphotography.com/index.html
    and
    http://www.karabakerphotography.com/gallery.html
The pages work fine in Firefox and Safari. So its only IE that doesnt work. I know differet browsers can use different versions of Flash. I have been using Dreamweaver CS4.
I have not spoken with anyone who can view it using IE. Everyone that uses IE has mentioned the problem to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need any further info from me, just let me know.

  • Embedding a youtube video in Powerpoint 2010 via a shockwave flash object

We have a user, has found recently, when he adds a 'shockwave flash object'
in Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, and adds a YouTube link, next to the
"movie" field within the properties of the shockwave flash object, it
will not show the YouTube video window (with the play button etc.) and will not
    play the video.
The user thinks the current version of Adobe flash is causing this (version:
14.0.0.145) and would be grateful if any staff from Adobe or anyone else has any
ideas if this version does cause this problem and if there is a way to resolve
it, or if a new release of Adobe Flash player will address this and if so when
    it will be released.
    Thanks,

  • Embedded application/x-shockwave-flash objects will not display

    4.0b9 on Windows XP
I just get a white section where a shockwave flash object should be, and in all the occurences I've found it's when the flash object is embedded. Youtube works just fine, though...
In the "white section" I can right-click and get the options for Adobe Flash Player 10, but I cannot actually choose any of the menu options.
In some cases, I can choose to display the flash object in another tab, and then it works just fine. Typically an embedded youtube movie clip acts like that that, but not always.
In an example, I see only a white section where the shockwave flash object should be visible in Pichfork TV - http://pitchfork.com/tv/
When I open the page information, in the media section, list of URL's, I find an URL that is both grey and italic, and describes this URL as type Embedded:
    URL - http://pitchfork-cdn.s3.amazonaws.com/player/DelveMoviePlayer.swf
    Type - application/x-shockwave-flash
I assume this URL is grey and italic because it is not loaded or opened in the pitchfork TV site.
This is the same problem with most embedded flash objects, and I really hope someone can help me! I've browsed aroud the support forums and tried a lot of different tips, but to no avail.
I have of course uninstalled and reinstalled both flash player and shockwave from adobe's site, and made sure it's not the active-x version for IE that's installed.
My add-in manager claims that Shockwave Flash 10.1 r102 is installed and enabled, and the release is the latest available according to adobe.com.
I have also tried to open FF in secure/private mode, but same problem in both modes.
Just to check, I tried to open this site with IE8, and there it displays correctly (and I also remembered why I don't ever use IE8, haha...), so apparently the active-x part of shockwave/flash works...
    BR, Torgeir

OK, so now I've tried again to open FF in safe mode again, but the problem is still unsolved. Same problem in safe mode.
The hardware acceleration in the flash player is set to disabled long before I posted this problem.
I didn't know that Pitchfork had such a special flash player, but the problem is the same on any sites. Just chose Pitchfork because it's an English site. Bad example then...
    Here's a better example: NME.com:
    http://www.nme.com/musicvideos/my-chemical-romance-sing/832454
Here I only see a white space where the flash object is embedded (if it really IS embedded, I dont't know how these things work). But I can right-click and get the dialog for Adobe Flash Player 10 properties (such as settings and global settings), and if I'm lucky to hit the start button (wich I don't see), the flash object starts playing, and I hear all sound but see no image.
I open the page info menu, and here I find in the list of media URL's the link to the flash object, described as an embedded object in the NME site:
    URL: http://www.muzu.tv/player/getPlayer/a/RSFVcmvHJ4/autostart=n&includeAll=y&soundoff=n&vidId=832454&videotype=hq
    Type: application/x-shockwave-flash
It's grey and italic in the list of media URL's, and I assume that's because it's not properly loaded.
But if I copy the URL from the media URL list and paste it into the adress field of a new tab, I can both see and hear the flash object without a problem.
This is exactly the same issue with local sites that have embedded web radio stations. Cant see the object, and have to be quite lucky to hit the start button. But by stepping via info for site and copy the URL to the flash object and paste it into a new, empty tab, I can both see and hear whatever was supposed to display in the original site.
Any help would be more than welcome! So many of the sites I use most has embedded flash objects, so if I cannot solve this I have to find another browser. I REALLY don't want to, because otherwise I really love FF...

  • Shockwave flash object in Word doesn´t appear in PDF (Acrobat X Pro 10.1.4)

I have a Microsoft Word document with many shockwave flash objects linked to graphs. The Word document has macro that dynamically links these graphs (SWF files) to the shockwave flash objects. The graphs aren't embedded, they are linked because they have to be loaded when the Word document is opened.
In the Word document the graphs are loaded OK but when the Word document is converted to a PDF the graphs are shown completely blank.
Does anyone know why it happens and if there's a solution to this problem?

    hi thanks Bernd, 2 questions:
Can Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro do this (as well as Extended - from the product comparsion chart it seems so...)?
If the full version can, does the trial version also enable this - am not really looking forwards to paying for software & then finding still yet to be resolved..?
Thanks for this, others also interested on various sites will keep them informed.

  • Adobe Flash Player not working--Shockwave Flash Object not installing

Ok...let's try this again.  Somehow my previous discussion that I had been working on with eidnolb got marked as "Answered" when it wasn't.  If you are reading this and are also having problems with Adobe Flash Player, please START YOUR OWN THREAD!  That allows someone to help you individually and will hopefully prevent MY question from being accidentally marked as "Answered" when it's not.  THANK YOU!
Now to start the whole process over....
    1.  When I download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player, my computer says it's succesful.  I'm able to verify through Add/Remove Programs that it IS on the computer.  However, when I'm on a site that requires AFP--like Hulu or YouTube--I get a message that says I need to download the latest version.
    2.  When I was working with eidnolb before, we found that for some reason the Shockwave Flash Object wasn't on my computer, even though I uninstalled and installed AFP several times and also restarted my computer.
    3.  I use Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 3 and Internet Explorer 8.  My computer also has AVG 9.0.830 for anti-virus protection and Spyware Blaster.  The only firewall I use is the standard Microsoft firewall that came already installed.
    4.  I am the administrator on my computer.  I have also made sure the following are disabled when I download AFP:  anti-virus program, anti-spyware program, firewall, all add-ons in Explorer, and any messenger programs.
Thank you to whomever is available and willing to help me.  I truly appreciate it!

I had this problem too. I'm not an expert with this at all, but Adobe Support at:
                                                                                                           http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
                                                                                               and      http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/000/6b3af6c9.html
said that if you try to use Flashplayer with Internet Explorer 8 (64 bit) it won't work and you'll just keep getting the message to "Install Flashplayer" over and over even if you can see in your files that you already have it installed. They told me to use the 32  bit version of IE  8, or another browser such as Mozilla Foxfire or Google Chrome (both of which are 32 bit).  Now I can watch Hulu with any of these three browsers. I didn't have to turn of AVG at all; but I have AVG  2011 Free Version 10.0.1170 downloaded from  http://www.download.com .  Also,  according to the first website shown above,  you don't have the latest version of Flashplayer,  which is recommended by Adobe.

  • Flash 8 crashes when publishing (Mac 10.3.9)

I've searched the forums and haven't found an instance that
is relevant enough to my situation.
Pretty basic, really. I have a registered version of Flash
and I go to publish. Not doing anything crazy with the publish
settings. The document I'm working on isn't immense or overly
    complex, either.
It gets about 1/3 or 1/2 through publishing it, then crashes
(i.e., "The application Flash has unexpectedly quit.").
This is part of the message that my OS sends to Apple...
    "Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x0e8e8d9e"
    What's all that about?
From what I've read, Flash is a bit buggy (hit & miss)
    with this whole crashing thing.
Anybody have any links or idears on how to get this fixed (or
    at least working better/more reliably)?
I've repaired permissions, run Onyx (i.e., deleted system
cache, etc. etc.), restarted, updated, repaired permissions,
    restarted. . .
    In a pickle...
Can some kind soul help me out? I hate pickles...
    Thanks,
    -j

Well, I talked to Adobe support last night for about an hour
and this is the scoop. Evidently, I was only having problems with
one of my documents. I was able to successfully publish a different
document. I was also able to save it, too. This document, however,
was much simpler than the one I was having problems with.
In my troublesome document, I had imported some .swf
animations that I had exported from ImageReady. I didn't realize
that Flash creates a .swf library symbol,
    and two library instances of
each frame (a bitmap and a movieclip symbol).
I realized that I had many, many duplicates and duplicates of
duplicates. My document had become ridiculously huge (~227MB). I
deleted all those instances, re-imported the .swf file and got my
file size down to about 77MB. I was now able to save my document,
but I still couldn't publish it.
So, the support guy told me to go into "Publish Settings",
click on the "Formats" tab and deselect "HTML". Click the publish
button at the bottom of the dialogue window and presto! It
published (albeit without the HTML file).
That's about where it ended. The support guy couldn't figure
out why this document was crashing Flash when trying to publish
    both the .swf
and .html files. He recommended a work-around of creating
the HTML file in Dreamweaver. I had already been hand-coding the
html file as a work-around, so that's where we left it.
So, this is what I learned:
    1. Repair permissions, run Onyx & clear your system cache
(don't have Onyx for 10.3.x? You can download the
    zip
file. You need admin access. Be careful with it, you can screw
up your computer. Be conservative with the settings. Use at your
    own risk).
if this doesn't solve it, then:
    2. Make sure you're up-to-date on your system software, Flash
software, and Flash player. Repair permissions again after updating
    any software.
if this doesn't solve it, then:
    3. Go to Users > username > Library > Application
Support > Macromedia and rename the Flash 8 folder as "Flash 8
old". Flash will create a new folder when you load it (it's an app
preference folder). You may delete "Flash 8 old" if this solution
doesn't end up really screwing things up (or you can delete it if
it fixes your problem). If this solution does end up creating
problems (or if you had certain settings you just can't lose),
delete the new "Flash 8" folder and rename "Flash 8 old" to "Flash
    8".
If it still doesn't work, re-evaluate your .fla:
    4. Limit the size and complexity of your .fla (delete
    superfuous library instances)
    5. Library instances can become corrupt, leading to a crash
    (delete suspect ones, re-create them)
    6. Fonts can become corrupt, leading to a crash (validate
    your fonts)
    7. Importing .swf files into your .fla file is iffy, due to
different compression(?) settings. This could be the culprit in my
circumstance. I may try doing a loadmovie deal on it at some
point... when I figure out where/when it could be loaded in the
    background.
    7. Publish your .fla without the .html document.
If all else fails and your Flash app just ain't workin', here
are instructions for uninstalling the studio (and it appears,
    individual applications):

  • Flash object not updating (Captivate 6)

I'm using a flash object on one of my slides. This is a help file. The file was created in Captivate, published, and then I'm putting the flash object onto a slide. When this slide is referenced, the flash file plays. It's a few static screens with forward and back buttons. The issue is that on one of the screens, the wrong text was inserted. I fixed the text, re-published, deleted the flash object from the slide, and put the new one there instead. But when I run the project, it still shows the old version, with the wrong text. I'm not sure why this is. The source file was changed and updated. I've tried restarting the computer in case it's being help in memory, but still, it keeps showing the old version with the wrong text.

I tried adding a random button to the file, publishing, and using it again. This time, the button didn't show up, but the text updated. So I deleted it and tried the original file again. Still showing incorrect text. I opened the file, added a button, saved it, deleted the button, republished, reinserted the flash file, and now it works. So maybe there have to be changes saved for the file to update? Not really sure how it worked, just glad that it did.

  • Proper way to get the latest published Major version of Document

    Hi,
I have a Document Library which has "Create major and minor (draft) versions" enabled.
Now, from my C# application I need to fetch the latest major version of a document from that library.
What is the proper way to do this?
As of right now, I do the following:
return sourceFolder.Files["documentName.docx"]; // sourceFolder is a SPFolder object
Now, I don't trust that this will always give me the latest published major version of the document. Or am I wrong? If I'm wrong, how should I do this?
    Thanks!

    Problem
When you store critical documents in the SharePoint libraries, sometimes it becomes necessary to track all the changes and to maintain version history for them.
    Solution
There might be a time when you would need to restore files back to an older version if any inadvertent change happens. You can also track changes for auditing purposes.
So how does SharePoint allow creating different versions of documents? How does version history work? What are the different types of versions we can maintain for our library or list and how can we revert back to an older version?
SharePoint allows you to enable (by default it's disabled) versioning on lists and libraries. Once enabled, SharePoint will maintain multiple versions of the document or list which gets incremented on each change iteration. There are three different versioning
    settings:
No versioning - This is the default setting in which the current version overwrites the older version. There are no previous versions stored. This setting is not recommended especially if your document library contains critical or important
    documents.
Create major versions - Also called simple versioning, in this setting the document versions will be numbered with whole numbers, called major versions, i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.
Create major and minor (or draft) versions - In this setting document versions will be numbered with whole numbers (1, 2, 3, 4 etc.) as well as numbers with decimals (.1, .2, .3, .4 etc.). The whole number is called the major version
(indicates final copy) and the numbers with a decimal are called minor versions (indicates work is still in progress). You use this setting if your document goes through several iterations/drafts/reviews (minor versions) and you want only the final copy (major
version) to be published to a broader audience.
Please note for a list or list items, the only option available for versioning is creating major versions, no minor versions are created.
Once versioning is enabled SharePoint automatically and transparently creates the next version of the document whenever a user updates a document in the library. These are some of the different scenarios when SharePoint will create a new version for your
    document or list item:
When a new document or list item is created or uploaded into SharePoint, version 1 is created if the option
Create major versions option is enabled or version 0.1 is created when
Create major and minor (or draft) versions is enabled (not applicable for list items) and when you publish it then next higher major version is created.
When you upload a document with the same name as an already existing document in the library and check the
Add as a new version to existing files check box, the existing file becomes an older version and the new uploaded document will have next higher version number.
When any properties (metadata fields) of the document or list item is changed.
When you Check-in a document that was previously Checked-out.
When you open a document in the associated application, edit and save it for the first time. On subsequent changes no new versions will be created as long as you don't close the application and re-open it.
When you restore the old version of the document.
Please note, although the demonstration in this tip has been shown in SharePoint 2010, the versioning feature has been part of previous SharePoint versions as well.
