  • Flash Player on MacBook Pro

Hello: I tried to install Flash 8 Player on MacBook Pro and it did not work. Then, I realized because maybe it's not Universal, it won't work. Does anyone know if you can install the Flash Player on MacBook Pro? Thanks in advance for your advice.

The special version of the Flash plug-in supplied with Intel-Macs can be restored by extracting a fresh copy from the installer disc. You will need to download Pacifist (www.versiontracker.com) and use it to extract a fresh copy of the Flash plug-in from the file archive on the installer DVD.
Please read the following about other possible incompatibilities:
A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3 or G4 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
    Screensavers written for the PowerPC
    System Preference add-ons
    All Unsanity Haxies
    Browser and other plug-ins
    Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
    Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
Be sure to verify with developer or from information on download sites whether software is a universal binary. Many of the incompatible products currently in use will likely be updated in time.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers. These versions are not universal binaries and will not work on Intel-Macs. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the only current choice is USB Overdrive. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior (does not work), TechTool Pro (does not work), SuperDuper (newest release works), and Drive Genius (untested) may not work properly on Intel-Macs. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

  • Should i install adobe flash player on macbook pro with OSX

Just purchased my first macbook pro, I am thinking of installing Adobe Flash Player but wasnt sure if this is good idea or not. Any suggestions?

Sure - most of the content on YouTube - and much of the video content on the web - uses Flash technology.
Just make certain that you get it straight from Adobe -> http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.
    Happy computing!

  • Flash SDK and MacBook Pro with Retina display major issues

    Hello,
Apple has recently released Macbook Pro's with Retina displays.
I have tested my Flash application on the new laptop, and this is what I observe:
My Flex SDK Flash application looks blurry and strange when I try to check it out from any Macbook Pro with Retina display, while looking sharp and OK from all other machines.
On this screenshot you can sort of see the issue:
    http://i.imgur.com/UXHd4.png
(Expand the image to the actual size, and compare the Flex SDK components with browser labels. Browser labels look crisp, Flex SDK components look a little bit blurry.)
    Please fix this issue.
    Andrey

Sure. LR 4.3 even specifically adds Retina support...

  • How to download adobe flash player onto MacBook pro

Hi, can anyone tell me how to download adobe flash player onto my new MacBook Pro with retina display please?
I don't know what operating system it has?

If you've a new Retina display MacBook Pro, it probably shipped with Mavericks - you can confirm this by going to the Apple on the menu bar and selecting "About This Mac...." if it says system 10.9 or 10.9.1, you're on Mavericks.
To install Flash Player, you must first download it from Adobe -> http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. After the download is complete, you should have a file with a .dmg extension in your Downloads folder. Double-click this file and it will 'mount' as if it is a disk. There will be a 'package' inside and you must double-click this to actually install Flash Player.
Once Flash Player is installed, restart your computer and then open your browser. You should now be able to view Flash content.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Cannot download Flash CC on MacBook Pro Retina running Mavericks

I have a subscription to Creative Cloud; even though Photoshop CC can be downloaded and installed, Flash CC cannot.
It is not listed in creative cloud panel running on my machine, only Flash CS6 is available.
    - I tried to login to Creative Cloud website using chrome and click on the download link for Flash CC, but it did not work.
    - I had tried to uninstall Creative Cloud and run the Cloud Cleaner tool, but it did not help.
I'm running Maverick on a MacBook Pro with Retina display (intel Core i7). I have plenty of space on my disk, and as far as i can tell, the machine meets all Flash CC requirements.
This is also the same with illustrator.
    Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you for your quick reply.
    I did
    uninstall all creative cloud apps,
    uninstall creative cloud,
    run cleaner tool
    and then reinstall creative cloud.
When I open creative cloud panel, only Flash CS6 is on the list.
I have been doing this process for 5 times now, including today attempt.
I tried to go in adobe website and install it via the link
    https://creative.adobe.com/products/flash
The link open Creative Cloud Panel and do nothing.
I have the same issue with illustrator CC.
It is strange that I do not have the same issue with Photoshop CC.
Any further assistance would be much appreciated.

  • Flash on Leopard, Macbook Pro

    Hi!
I've had a significant problem with Safari lately.
Leopard running 10.5.5, latest Flash Player, Macbook Pro 2.33 ghz, 17".
On several flash sites, epecially those that require a lot processing power like fullscreen pages, after 5 minutes Safari literately DIES. Beleive me. It hangs so awfully, that my Dock reacts with 1 frame per 10 seconds, my fans go berserk, and need to wait several minutes until i am able to Force Quit my Safari.
The same pages run smoothly and nicely under Opera. No hangs, nice framerate with demanding video-driven flash sites.
Safari just seems to choke with flash. What to do?
I recently AppZapped Safari, and reinstalled it from OSX DVD, updated , done Disk Permissions, but no success at all.
    Help?
    Thanks in advance!
EDIT: May be useful - I use and backup regularly my Mac via Time Capsule 1 TB.

Yes, I have the exact same issue. Simple videos of sites like youtube are ok, other flash stuff like navigation or banners function properly, but as soon as I views something a bit more demanding, Safari starts acting like a dying turtle... Force quitting is the only option. With the same flash version, firefox has no troubles at all...
I also use Version 3.1.2 (5525.20.1), with the lates flash player (Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.12.36). I cleaned out all my unused plugins, done Permissions as well, but nothing seems to help.
Please let someone have a solution...

  • Flash Drive on Macbook Pro Retina

    Hello,
I have a sandisk cruzer fit flash drive that I purchased today for extra storage on my macbook pro retina. Will leaving it plugged in the usb port for extra storage slow down my mac? I purchased it because it is so small that I figured it would not get jammed or stuck on anything if I just left it plugged in.

No it wont affect a thing.
However I would only use it like that on a desk on a Mac that isnt ever moved.
Why?  Gets bumped or smacked (very easy) you can damage your USB port, and thats NO EASY fix.
A better option would be a 1TB HD, ....good storage is cheap,  $65 for a nice Toshiba 1TB external USB HD

  • Choppy Flash Playback on MacBook Pro 15"

    Hi everyone!
We're having problems on two brand new MacBook Pros with Flash presentations. Basically, when you play a Flash movie on these devices the playback stutters, gets choppy (audio is almost unbearable), and is otherwise unusable at all. Has anyone else experienced this? The same presentations work fine on older G4 PowerBooks. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

I finally figured this out. It was the version our client embedded into the movie. Turns out it was all rolled into one. newer Flash player bundling worked fine!
