Flash on macbook pro

how do you get flash to work on a mac?

Visit this site: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
Download the Flash installer
Install Flash
Even this version won't be 100% error free. Sometimes it doesn't respond, and it will use an enormous amount of CPU. That's the best you can get. Try using Google Chrome. It has less problems with Flash than Safari.

  • Unable to download adobe flash on macbook pro

Hi, As I have an imac don't use my old (2006) macbook pro very often but have previously been able to use adobe flasher player online.
As flash player wouldnt work on this occassion I have tried to uninstall and reinstall. I can download the software and do not get any error messages but am still unable to access online videos eg you tube etc.
Usually after a successful download I am sure the final instruction is to drag and drop the file to applications. I do not get this prompt.
There seems to be several disscussions online about others having this problem but I still havent managed to find a solution.
The only changes I have made is creating my daugher her own profile so she can log on with the restrictions I have set. I am wondering if I have inadvertantly done anything during this process to cause the problem?  When I am attempting to install I am using the admin user but still no success.
    Please help
For info I am using OSX 10.6.8 and safari 5.1.10

    jofromyork,
have you tried downloading the standalone Flash Player installer, and seeing if that installs properly? You can test it out using this Adobe page.
(Note that recent versions of Flash Player will create a System Preferences pane instead of requiring something to be copied into the Applications folder.)

  • FLASH on MacBook Pro 10.6.4 with Flash Player 10

I can view Flash items from CNN via Safari, FF and Chrome. I can't view http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-work-with-scribble-effect-after-effects-18792/ view/ ... can any of you and if so any ideas why I can't view on my MacBook Pro?
    thanks

I just tried that site and it would not run either, I then checked out which plugin I have for Flash and then the penny dropped.
    If you go here:
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
It will test if you your Flash player is working, mine was and is version 10!
That site needs version 8 so presumably there is some backwards compatibility issues with Flash 10 playing Flash 8 files?

  • When I installed the most recent Adobe Flash update (MacBook Pro, OSX), all my app tabs and recent sessions were cleared. Is there a fix for this?

This has happened a couple times when I installed updates to Firefox or Flash, but most recently: I am running Firefox 7.0.1 on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.8. I installed the Adobe Flash update to Flash 11 and when I restarted Firefox, all my saved tabs were cleared, including the App tabs I'd pinned.

What's the URL of the page?
In the mean time clear the cache and reload the page.

  • Show snapshot hotkey (F5, F6, F7) flashing on MacBook Pro

Frustrating problem here - the shortcut to take a snapshot (Shift+F5) works fine. When I try to show the snapshot by pressing F5 (no modifiers) I see the screen blink very quickly, as though I'm very rapidly tapping the key, even though I'm holding it down. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I'm on a 2012 Retina MacBook Pro, have the default system keys turned off in system preferences, and AE has "Use System Shortcut Keys" unchecked. Clearly it should be working since it briefly flashes. If I click the actual "Show Snapshot" button in the comp viewer it works fine and stays on as long as I hold it down. I'm running CS6 11.0.1.12
    Any ideas?

I would look at any macro or keyboard modifying applications on your system.  I am running the same Retina MacBook Pro and the keyboard shortcut is working just fine.

  • Partitioning 512GB Flash Drive-MacBook Pro

I am trying to install BootCamp on a MacBook Pro (10.9) Mavericks. I can partition the drive, but I am running into the issue where I go to install Windows 7 Pro, it doesn't see the Partitioned Drive for bootcamp. I do see it on the OS X 10.9 side.
I also tried using the disk utlities to partition the disk and the same thing......Windows can't see it. and I can see it on the OS 10.9 side.

I forget the way to correct the issue but try SMC and PRAM resets:

These operations cannot hurt your MBP and if there is no success, let me know.  I will try to find the answer (no guarantee though ).
    Ciao.
I tried both, it didn't solve the problem. but thanks for your help.

  • Do most people wish they bought 512 gb flash for Macbook pro 15" RD

Im buying the MB pro 15" with RD. Although i'm upgrading the RAM to 16GB which seems sensible, but the extra price for upgrading to 512gb of flash seems extortion. Not sure therefore if people regret buying with 256. I know that programmes are memory hungry and in addition to normal browsing, emailing, documentation, will be using Logic Pro; Final Cut Pro; + in due course Aperture.
I may need to load on parallels or VM ware to run windows would that swing it in favour of the 512gb flash upgrade?
Alternatively if i keep the hard drive as clean as possible (just use OS and the programmes above) and try and keep everything else on large flash drives eg my films, music etc can i avoid the flash upgrade?
    Grateful for any advice
    Paul

Grant - wow - faster than a speeding bullet! Thats really helpful. I thought they took up way more memory than that...here's a gold star
Any idea how much windows running in VM takes up in memory? I know its a bloated programme but i cant get consistent answers.
I guess like work exponentially fills the time allotted so too does media! I guess if i force myself to save everything to an external HD then that is an aspirationally good behaviour. Otherwise i'll be tempted to save my whole DVD library to it etc and then cry because it will run like a chromebook.
I guess by the time i start to fill 256 gb with other software etc - 1TB flash drives would probably be the same price as the original memory upgrade.

  • Screen flashes on macbook pro

I'm getting a flash on my screen when I go from regular to full screen and vise versa, also at times in IPhoto the is a thin horizontal line of distortion across the screen, Has anyone else experienced anything at unusual with the proformance of their Pro 15" retna screen?

    Hey TxRed,
I would go over all the steps in this document:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1573
It will cover troubleshooting the video issues you're experiencing, and I'd make sure to go all the way to the end if necessary.
    Have a good one,

  • Safari + Flash on MacBook Pro = No Audio

When playing videos (google video, what have you) that use flash 8, no audio appears. Happens in Safari/Camino/Firefox.
It worked a few days ago, but now no audio can be heard. I tried to reinstall flash from the macromedia site, no luck. Reinstalled safari/internet plugins from the install dvd, no luck. Tried a few tricks in quicktime prefrences, still no luck.
    Any ideas?

    Maybe this will help:
No sound from some applications, but system alert sounds play (Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4)

  • Display Flashing on MacBook Pro

After upgrading to ML from SL on my mid-2010 MBP, there is a slow, but steady, flashing around the active window.  It doesn't matter whether I am using the integrated graphics or the discrete graphics.  Anyone else seeing this issue?

    Well that is great news!
I'd look at any third party app that claims to theme your mac or change settings globally on it.
Something you might want to take a look at is: system preferences>users and groups>click your username in the list, and then click on the Login Items tab.
These applications run whenever you boot up, try unchecking some of them.
When uninstalling an application, make sure you uninstall it completely with app Zapper or an app like it that finds all the relevant hidden files throughout your system that is attributed to that application.
Glad I could help! The good news is, it doesn't sound like a hardware issue!!

  • My Macbook Pro won't read my Compact Flash card

    Here’s the problem.
Mavericks won’t acknowledge the existence of my Compact Flash card when presented in a card reader (I have tried two readers). It is a card I have been using with Lion on my Macbook Pro for some time quite happily.
There is nothing wrong with the card; it works just fine in our Windows machine and in my camera.
My Compact Flash card is a Kingston 4Gb card. It was formatted in the camera.
The camera was bought approx 2003. Its a digital Pentax Optio 33GS (top of the range at the time shooting 3.2 megapixels!).
On my Macbook Pro 15” (bought new approx 2010) the card does not appear in Finder but does appear in Disk Utility.
The information for the main entry on the LHS in Disk Utility is displayed as follows:
Disk Description: 4Gb Generic Storage Device Media
    Write status: Read/write
The sub entry which appears as disk1s1 on the LHS is:
    Mount point: Not mounted
    Format MS-DOS (FAT16)
I  attempted to erase the Card using Disk Utility; I selected the main entry on the LHS and I chose the format MS-DOS (FAT). This returned a Disk Erase Failed msg “Wiping volume data to prevent future accidental probing failed.”
I then tried again, this time selecting Windows NT File system (Tuxera NTFS) as I have Tuxera installed. This did not work either; it failed with the same error msg.
OK so then I tried Mac OS Extended (Journaled) but this failed as above also.
I am not quite sure why, but when I reinserted my card into my camera, my camera could not read the card so I had to reformat the card within the camera.
Oh yes, I also tried rebooting my Macbook with the card inserted but this made no difference.
I have run our of ideas. All help gratefully received.
    Thank you. Carol
PS ... apologies to anyone who saw my previous post in which I referred to my card as an SD card when in fact it is a Compact Flash card
MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)
I have this question too (0

Okay, I am making progress here now.
Using the link in my message above timestamped Dec 13, 2013 4:24 AM, I filed a tech support request describing the problem. Because they asked for details to confirm that the problem was with their product, I copied and pasted pretty much verbatim the text from my message above.
Around noon, same day, I got a message back from technical support saying they were sorry for the problem and would provide me with a replacement unit. Two hours later, I got a message from their RMA department saying that because the product has a two year warranty, they needed a copy of my receipt. I located a copy of my receipt for the purchase from Amazon on September 10, 2012 and forwarded that to them.
At this point, I am optimistic that it's going to work out okay. So far, I am very impressed with the responsiveness of Kingston's technical support and customer service departments.
If I actually do receive a working replacement, I will post an update here.

  • Flash on Leopard, Macbook Pro

    Hi!
I've had a significant problem with Safari lately.
Leopard running 10.5.5, latest Flash Player, Macbook Pro 2.33 ghz, 17".
On several flash sites, epecially those that require a lot processing power like fullscreen pages, after 5 minutes Safari literately DIES. Beleive me. It hangs so awfully, that my Dock reacts with 1 frame per 10 seconds, my fans go berserk, and need to wait several minutes until i am able to Force Quit my Safari.
The same pages run smoothly and nicely under Opera. No hangs, nice framerate with demanding video-driven flash sites.
Safari just seems to choke with flash. What to do?
I recently AppZapped Safari, and reinstalled it from OSX DVD, updated , done Disk Permissions, but no success at all.
    Help?
    Thanks in advance!
EDIT: May be useful - I use and backup regularly my Mac via Time Capsule 1 TB.

Yes, I have the exact same issue. Simple videos of sites like youtube are ok, other flash stuff like navigation or banners function properly, but as soon as I views something a bit more demanding, Safari starts acting like a dying turtle... Force quitting is the only option. With the same flash version, firefox has no troubles at all...
I also use Version 3.1.2 (5525.20.1), with the lates flash player (Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.12.36). I cleaned out all my unused plugins, done Permissions as well, but nothing seems to help.
Please let someone have a solution...
