Flash Output Format Question

I did a search on this in the forum and looked thru google
but there doesn't seem to be an answer anywhere, even though I'm
sure there is one. I've made a flash animation movie with Adobe
Flash and I'd like to upload it to youtube. The problem is, youtube
doesn't accept SWF format. I tried to use my Total Video Converter
to convert my SWF file to mpg, but the converter can't read it. So,
I published a Quicktime .mov of my movie in Flash 8. But Youtube
couldn't read my published .mov. I then tried to put that .mov into
my converter but it still couldn't read it. So, I then tried to use
the Adobe Flash Encoder; it doesn't seem to read SWF. So, I used it
to convert my .mov into an FLV, hoping that I could then convert
the FLV to mpg. All that got me was a totally blank video.
I'm sure there's an answer to this, as Youtube is full of
people's flash animations, but I just can't figure it out.
Please, how do you format a flash video created in Adobe
Flash CS3 for upload to sites such as Youtube?
I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks.

So, my question is this:
If one were to run Compressor to create  a file which is suitable for upload to Vimeo and for use on an Apple TV 3, it appears as if any of these pre-sets would be suitable.
Well, Vimeo will take just about anything you feel like uploading, so you're more or less correct on that score. They recompress the file, no matter what you give them. If you over-shoot their ideal format  – by giving them a lot more data then they need, the excess data will get tossed out when they re-compress. Beyond a certain data rate, it doesn't seem to make a difference although there are people who upload files @ 25 Mbs and even higher. Of course, the reverse is not true; if you give them a 1080p file @ 2 Mbps, you probably won't be pleased.
There are some differences. The video sharing preset produces a Quick Time .mov. The two Apple device output files are MP4 with the iTunes extension of m4v. I'VE never tried to upload an MP4 with that extension, but it would probably work. If Vimeo (or YT)  balked, it would be easy enough to change the extension to mp4. Another difference is the audio streams; a 48 KHz sample rate for the mov and 44.kHz1 for the MP4.
I'm pretty sure that a mov file will play on ATV. But I'm also pretty sure that it would not play on an iPad.
That they are all variations on the h.264 codec is not surprising since it's highly efficient at delivering good quality in small file sizes.

  • A simple question regarding flash output from Encore

My primary question is how exactly is the html file that is playhed by the browser created in Encore?  I have tired this and I am simply unable to located the html file as seen in the tutorials on this subject.  I see that these tutorials have templates which I don't see when I select the flash output.  Do I need these to crreate a simple flash file that is playable on a website?  Where to the templates come from?  This is not explained in the tutorials.
Is the index.html file created automatically when Flash output is selected as the format?  Maybe I am doing something wrong but I have never found them?
Please help as I am having to go through a two step process to create the requied index.html and embeded player from which the SWF is played.on a site.  I am only interested in creating progressively encoded web site playable files from Encore.  Please help!.
    Thanks for any assistance.

Encore creates the HTML file when you export to Flash - it's in the folder named on export, along with all the other files you'll need.

  • Tutorials in SWF output format prompted "Do you trust this content to connect to the Internet?" when opening another SWF file

    Please help.
I have a tutorial with in the output format of SWF and HTM. I have click boxes that On Success will open another tutorial (SWF file). When I click on the click box, I get prompted “Do you trust this content to connect to the Internet?” by the Adobe Flash Player. I can click “Yes” and continue, however I don’t want the user to get prompted for every click box with this action (there is one for every tutorial and navigation buttons to each tutorial). I also think that SCORM can't handle the prompt, because when I run the tutorial from the LMS the click boxes do not work at all.
I have tried selecting “Always allow” in the Global Security Settings panel as per the instruction on this website: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I wanted to add on a question to this posting.... I believe Rod's instructions must be followed on a per-PC basis, correct? Is there any way to disable this globally when/after I publish the files rather than telling 1000 users across the globe that they have to change their security settings? I don't think so from the article (very thorough) but just hoping there's something I can do?!
    Thank you!

  • Best Output Format for Slide Show?

If I were to purchase Final Cut Studio...
What would be the best output format to use for a simple slideshow intended for Web deployment? In other words, which encoding method will provide the best compromise between file size and video quality? The slideshow is a series of simple static images with some fade transitions and Ken Burns effects. There is also a soundtrack for background music.
A 1.5 minute slideshow with soundtrack created using Adobe Flash is less than 2 MB in size (which is great for Web deployment), and it looks very good. If that same slideshow is exported from Flash to a QuickTime-compatible format, it balloons to over 20 MB!
So what I'd really like to know is, if something like Final Cut Pro were used to create that same slideshow, would I be able to produce a web-ready video that rivals the Flash version in size?
Thanks for any help and insight you can provide,
    -Steve

Quicktime is a file wrapper that can contain anyone of a number of codecs.
    Yes, I understand that.
H.264 is the prefered version for web/apple TV delivery.
A 90s slideshow that was less than 2 MB as a SWF file became a 27 MB behemoth when exported using the H.264 codec. The exported file had the same frame rate and resolution (pixel dimensions) as the original Flash file. The audio was optimized as well. Why the dramatic difference? (I think I know why, but perhaps I'm missing something.)
That being said, Final Cut Pro is a video editing program and is a waste of money if all you are doing is simple slideshows.
Slideshows are not all I will be doing, but I will be doing them occasionally, and it's hard to justify purchasing Flash just to create slideshows that are optimized for the Web.
Have you tried iMovie then converting the output to either Flash or (if you have Quicktime Pro) converting to h.264 QT?
My tests indicate that anything but Flash format results in a monstrous file for a simple slideshow. I have a notion as to why this is, but I wanted to check to make sure that I'm not overlooking some way of creating smaller non-Flash files.
The bottom line is that Final Cut Studio will be far more useful and versatile for what I need to do, and I would be much more proficient with that software; but if I can't output video files that rival those of Flash in terms of quality and file size, then I might have to get a copy of Flash after all.
And yes, you can convert a QuickTime movie to flash, but it's just not the same in terms of file size as generating the same slideshow directly in Flash. I suspect this is because Flash is optimized for animation, whereas the QuickTime codecs are designed for video, and a simple slideshow is more of an animation than a video.
So my real question is (and I suspect the answer is no), is it possible using Final Cut Studio to generate a simple slideshow which rivals the output from Flash in terms of file size for a given resolution?

Do you have any control over the format that your agency is sending the files to you in? An MP4 is one of the more challenging formats for Premiere Elements to work with.
You don't say which project settings you're using in Premiere Elements to work with these files -- but the combination of that and your file format could by why you're getting such mediocre results.
If they can send you MOVs using the DV codec rather than the H.264 codec, that would be a good start. You should be able to get great results editing a DV file in  Premiere Elements project set up for DV.
I'm not sure why you're outputting your FLV file at those strange dimensions (700x300), but that could also account for your blurriness, since you've down-rezzing the file to a lower resolution. Are these the specs your agency wants your video at?
Finally, how are you judging the quality of your FLV files? What are you playing them on and are you looking at them at 100% actual size or are you looking at them oversized or, worse, at full-screen on your computer? This too can affect your results.

  • Changing Oracle Report Output Format at runtime

    Dear All,
I've custom Oracle Report in Oracle Apps., and would like to give the users an option to select the output format (XML, TEXT, PDF, etc.) whilst submitting the request.
As a SYSADMIN, we can modify the Output Format value of the concurrent program(Oracle Report in this case) to one we like.
But I would like the user to select this output format option at runtime, rather then hard coding at SYSADMIN level. For that I've to create a Value Set with the desired report output format options, and attach this to the concurrent program.
My question is, how we can make the desired output format to work at runtime?
    If any one can help?
    Thanks,
    Sandeep

    Hi Steve,
    I couldn't get it...???
I'm running an Oracle Report in Oracle Apps. release 11.5.9
The default output format of this report is TEXT, which is defined in its concurrent program.
This report is submitted using standard request submission screen, and after successful completion we can view the output by pressing "View Output" button on "Requests" screen. This will open an another window and we can view the output page by page. Using "Tools>Copy File..." menu option, we can view the same output in IE window.
Now, how does your resolution fits here and how can I view the same report in XML format?
    Many Thanks,

  • (Input and) output formats from Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac

I noticed that (until midnight PT, anyway) Amazon has Photoshop Elements for the Mac at a lower price than usual.  This brings up a question for me: What output formats can Photoshop Elements 6 produce?  In particular, can it produce PNG?  Also, can it accept PNG as input?

I think that all the formats like .bmp, camera RAW, EPS,PICT, TIFF, Filmstripn, IFF, JPEG, Photoshop pdf, Photoshop RAW,PNG etc are supported for both input and output.

  • Most accessible output format?

I'm relatively new to PP. In AE, I exported a project to a PNG Sequence. In PP, I use that sequence as my video, add some audio, and now I want to export it to the most popular / versatile output format.
Is it H.264, or something else? What other options in the Export Media dialog do you guys recommend setting (and to what)?
    This particular project is 720p.
And this is PP CS6 by the way.
Thanks! I know this is a vague-ish question, sorry.

H.264 is probably the most ubiquitous format these days, used for Blu-ray, digital copies and web videos.

  • Purchase orders output format.

    Hi All,
I have a couple of questions regarding PO creation.
    1. Some of our Vendors have EDI in place. I think the POs can be sent across to these EDI sub-systems through XI. Am I right?
    2. For the rest of the vendors, if they would like the PO in the printed format, what are the other output formats which can be considered? Can we use Adobe forms? Or Smart forms...
    Thanks,
    Robert G.

    Robert,
Your PO's can be sent to your supplier in the following ways :
    1.) EDI
    2.) XML Format using XI
    3.) Fax
    4.) Email
You also have the ability to create Adobe forms or custom smart forms that can be sent to your supplier. All communication methods depends on technically savvy your vendor is?

  • Change Pick List Output Format with automated Output format  froTO creation

    hi.,
When creating TO for delivery using VL06P or LT03 there is no opportunity to print the Company Custom  Format(X1) of the pick list.
But if it is reprinted in LT31, Print Code X1(Company defined picking list Output format) can be selected. This is our custom formatted TO output format.
The delivery address is on the document, so if X1 format is used with the automated output from TO creation, Warehouse personel will have the Hardcopy of the delivery address.
Question: How can i have the Print Code X1 to default when i am creating delivery using VL06P or LT03.
    All help is much appreciated.

  • Need Info On Flash Output From Encore CS6

I have CC 2014 and I normally produce videos for YouTube and DVD for my clients.
I have no idea what Flash is, but I see that I can create a Flash version of a DVD project that plays just like a DVD. Will someone point me in the right direction on how to use this feature? How can it be put on a website? How does a Flash project work in Muse?
Is there a difference between a Flash created from Encore and a Flash project created in Adobe Flash Professional (which I also have)?
It would be nice to put a Flash video on my website. How is this done? What do I need?
How can I offer a Flash version of a DVD for my client? How can my client use a Flash video and what do they need to place it in a website?

Sorry; I did not see this, and I don't always get into this "CS6 and CC" subforum.

    Don't know about Muse.
First, it is simple. Second, it has quirks and these can undo how simple it is!
    Go here, and try it:
Encore Help | Exporting projects to Flash format
Fundamentally, on the build tab in Encore, you just change the output format to Flash, and the output will change to Flash swf. There are limitations and some advantages regarding things like subtitles, highlight bit depth and such. Read the help file information I linked to. Each version of Encore (CS4, CS5, CS6) added options, primarily regarding modification of the templates and player controls.
Creating this in Flash Pro would take you forever. Basically, Encore creates a swf player that plays the video content in the form of flv files, creates the various screens as still images, and manages their linkages.
Do not stream as your first attempts; in the "Flash Video File" buttons at the bottom of the build screen, use the "Keep With Flash SWF" option.
If you did not install "templates" when you installed the Encore library, don't worry about it yet, but you won't have any templates under Flash options.
FLV/F4V are on their way out, but Encore still happily creates them. It does not matter what your source file is, or the size/type of output file, it all takes about the same about of time to transcode. So pick what you really want. I don't recall now if I successfully tested it, but there is no preset for 1080; but you can customize and use it. (F4V uses H.264).
Everything you need is in the output directory. Open the "index.html" file and it plays in a web browser. You can do it on your local hard drvie, from a usb flash drive, or on the web.
BUT flash security settings can be a bear, and I assume some of the Mac issues for this are due to lack of flash support.
Let us know how it goes.

    Hi,
It looks like you're asking about formatting done by the front end.  How to control that depends on your front end, so say what front end you're using.  (This forum is supposed to be for SQL and PL/SQL language questions, so this may not be the best place to ask this question.)
It looks like you might be using SQL*Plus as your front end.  As far as I know, the default column formats can't actually be changed in any version of SQL*Plus, but you can put changes into LOGIN.SQL scripts, that get run automatically whenever you start a SQL*Plus session, and that may be just as good for your purposes.
