Flash Player 10.1  Slow on 90% of our computers

Our company is experiencing issue with Flash Player 10.1.
We have literally 100s of PCs that our folks use to take training and they are experiencing issues with the swfs running extremely slow.  Choppy is a better way to describe it.
We have
version 10,1,53,64 installed
Most PCs have the same setup.
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 @ 2.66
Display Driver
Intel 4 Series Internal Chipset
2 GB of Ram in each
Running:
Windows XP Pro
We have seen the issue consistently in version of IE 6 and 8
On IE 6.0 browsers we consistently see the issue with version SP3 - 100427-1636
The same version of flash seems to run fine on earlier versions of IE 6.0 such as SP3 100-216-15144
I've read all the documentation about disabling pc and flash acceleration.  Upchucking those items has no impact on flash performance.  We've also updated GFX drives on a couple of PCs and that too has had no impact on flash performance.
One thing to note... On computers with the issue, when we right click to uncheck the hardware acceleration, there is a lag in that process.  If we uncheck the box, it takes a second to respond.  The same goes for the other options in that window.  On computers where we don't see the lag, the settings update instantly.
Our computers meet the minimum system requirements for Flash 10.1.  We did not appear to have this issue with Flash Player 10.
Any suggestions you could provide other than sending me to the minimum system requirements page or telling me to make sure my graphics drivers have been updated would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Aaron

Hello, I use XP/SP3 (home edition) and it is SP3-100427-1636 also along with IE6. I have Windows fully patched.
You didn't say if you have all Windows updates but I assume you do. In August there was a cumulative Critical update for IE6, 7 and 8, so just wanted to mention that.
Now of course I have had the same Flash Player version that you are using, but updated whenever it was available. The latest is now 10.1.85.3 which I use.
The hardware acceleration must be working as it should for my system since I have not had to turn it off.
What I would check is that the Shockwave Flash Object in the IE add ons is enabled and the same version of Flash Player that you are using(10.1.53.64)
Whether using this site to turn off the hardware acceleration would make a difference or not I don't know, but you could try it.
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/  Right clicking on the Flash logo seems to be easier for most users, then click on Settings and then on Display Settings, UN check the box.
Other than making sure the systems are fully patched and the SW Object is correct I don't know what would be causing the slowness. You could verify that the Flash files are correct, sometimes during an Uninstall of the older version of Flash Player an old file may have not been removed.
Thanks,

  • Flash player 10 very slow to initialise

Hi , does somenone know why the flash player is so slow on my
computer on certain web sites since I upgraded to flash player 10
    version ? ( i don't have any problem with the 9 version)
In fact, it takes easily 20-30 seconds to initialise and then
    all is fine.
    On certain website it's ok.
( and of course the site that I am developping is slow since
    flash player 10)
    thanks a lot!

  • Flash player 10.1 slower than 10

At least, that's how it is on my secondary computers. On my Dell Inspiron B120, flash 10.1 latest is like a train wreck when it comes to playing Youtube videos in full screen. Disabling hardware acceleration helped a little, but this shouldn't be happening as I uninstalled 10.1 and installed an archived version of Flash 10 with much better playback AND with h/w acceleration enabled. The laptop uses XP SP3 and Firefox.
Simply put, Flash 10.1 feels a lot slower than 10 on my Dell laptop (1.4 GHz celeron-M, intel 915g video, 512 mb ram)
And there's another odd but minor problem I seem to be having with is flash animations on my main computer and any other computer/laptop I have using Flash 10.1. I get this alternating 'lag' every few seconds; it's like the computer is dropping frames because the CPU can't keep up. I could completely understand this, but this is happening on practically any flash animation I throw at the computer. I just tested a flash movie (SWF format) on my main computer (2.8 GHz AMD Athlon x2 240; 2 gb ram, Windows 7 x64, Firefox) and I get this irritating choppy lag here and there. Again, with the previous Flash version 10, I did NOT have this problem AT ALL. Everything was silky smooth; the only benefit I'm getting from Flash 10.1 is x264 hardware acceleration for my ATI Radeon 4200 HD. Before anyone asks, all of my computers were using the latest flash version AND video drivers prior to these tests.
I am VERY frustrated with these problems as I've posted a similar thread twice now in the past. No one seems to be answering or helping me with this; Those that do reply simply claim that they're having the same problem.
Adobe, please look into this problem. Eventually Youtube and several other sites will force me to upgrade my laptop to Flash 10.1.

Has Adobe fixed the problems with version 10,1,82,76 of flash player ?
I compared it and found nothing but problems.
I then uninstalled 10,1,82,76 and rolled back to 10,0,12,36 which works fine on Firefox and Opera but I can't install 10,0,12,36 on Exploer or Chrome
it keeps telling me there is a new version even when I try to install it from local drive with a archived version.
With all the complaints about 10,1,82,76 and the lack of response from Adobe on any fixes I will not be using Adobe auto updates until I let some
other poor guinea pigs suffer all the bugs and problems first.
You would expect a large company to have better development and testing before imposing buggy upgardes on us.

  • Adobe flash player 10.2 slows down then locks up Internet explorer 9

I have new windows 7, IE9 (which is great), but when new adobe flash player 10.2 installed, slows IE9 a lot and after switching to a few different sites, locks up IE9 completely. This is on all 3 of our computers. Uninstall newest flash player, IE9 runs smooth and fast once again. I have tried all ways, to install player first, then update IE8 to 9, and vice versa, nothing changes the outcome is always the same. I love IE9 because it's so much faster loading than IE8, but this flash player issue is a real headache and can't figure out why. Is there a patch for this? What is the problem? Thanks for your help

Okay, thanks for your advice, which gratefully turned out to be good advice!  I downloaded and installed Adobe Flash Player 10.2.152.32 assuming that Adobe Flash Player 10.2.152.32 would replace my previously existing Adobe Flash Player 10.1.102.64 installation in my Mozilla Firefox Web browser.  At a similar time that Web browser was updated from version 3.6.13 to version 3.6.14 of it.  In Firefox's "Tools" menu's "Add-ons" I could then see "Shockwave Flash 10.2.152.32" and "Shockwave 10.2r152" listed and assume that those are two designations of the same add-on.  In 32-bit Windows XP Home Edition I returned my Hewlett Packard notebook computer's S3 Graphics TwisterK HP card's video memory to 16 MegaBytes (MB) via "Start, Control Panel, Display, Settings, Advanced, S3Info Plus" and on the drop-down list box selecting 16 MB instead of 32 MB; after that I clicked on "Apply" and in the successful change clicked on "Yes" to a necessary restart of my computer to effect the change, and may or may not have clicked on one or two "OK"s.  I tested the new Flash Player by playing and watching a portion of the movie under "Adobe Flash-Video Test" on the Web page http://www.chemgapedia.de/vsengine/info/en/help/requirements/flash.html.  The video and audio signals of the movie there gratefully appeared to be fine, other than the not-surprising waiting periods for data to be received on my computer from the Internet using my slow, but cheap dial-up Internet service.  Thanks again for what proved to be good advice for me!

  • Script on page causing flash player to run slow

I am trying to use webmaker( magix) and as I get to the load
page I get this message... script on this page is making flash
player run slow and may cause computer to be unresponsive do you
want to abort after 4 days of trying could anyone tell me what the
    problem could be please

I don't understand why I would use onEnterFrame(). The entire
program only needs one frame to exist on, but maybe I don't
understand how Flash needs to manage these things. I am a C++/Cocoa
programmer rewriting a program that my boss made years ago in
Visual BASIC. What made it work for him was to call DoEvents every
600 itterations, which pauses the execution so that the system can
catch up with it's own stuff. Are you saying that onEnterFrame will
do this too? How will this work if the calculation only starts when
a button is pressed. Does the entire calculation routine need to
take place on a different frame?
    Could you explain these things?

Recently updated to the latest version of Flash Player on a Win 7 x 64 machine. At first launch everything is perfect. But once the browser is closed (any browser) flash player slows down about 3X until I do a restart. Downgraded to an older version of FP, same behavior. This just started happening - any clue what it could be??

  • Flash player is so slow on my new netbook!

Hi.  I am running Ubuntu Netbook Edition on a Samsung NB30 netbook.  Every time I play or use something that involves Adobe's flash, the performance is terrible. The BBC iPlayer desktop (which uses Adobe Air) is also really bad!!
No other programs on this netbook - except Adobe's Flash and Air - make it slow and flash player crashes about once a day in Google Chrome.
Are Adobe even aware that Flash and iPlayer Desktop (which uses Adobe Air) are so slow and unreliable on Linux??
Why is the performance this bad.  Any ideas??????

Hi, I don't have any experience with your operating system, but I can give you some general info. First you want to go to this test site to see what version of Flash Player you have Installed and whether you can see the animation.
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
About BBC iPlayer, there are problems with their site and yes Windows users, with various browsers have problems also.
One thing that users are doing when they have Installed Flash Player 10.1 is turning off the hardware acceleration feature. Whey you go to that above test site, RIGHT click on the animation (Flash Player Logo) and click on Settings, then Display Settings.
Another thing  that users have found is to make sure 3rd party content is enabled in the Global Settings Panel.
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.htm l
The following thread ( See Post # 10, 12 and 17) has info on the BBC iPlayer problems that other users had and what helped.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/677670?tstart=0
    Hope this information is helpful.

  • Why is the flash player (plugin) getting slower?

I just upgraded from the current release of 10.1 to a beta that I downloaded last December. A vast improvement!!
The platform is Windows XP SP/3, the host is an Acer AR1600 (Intel Atom 230 + nVidia ION LE). The content provider is Hulu.
The video is displayed at 1080p on a 96" screen via HDMI - this isn't a laptop.
My grandson, complained about the jerky picture, so I upgraded to the latest (16.Nov.10) and while I cannot say it was worse, it definately was not better.
I have fixed the problem by going back to a 10.1 beta I downloaded last December - it has a P1 in the installer's name.
I have no performance problems with Silverlite (Netflix) or Video LAN (VLC) - just Adobe Flash.

    Things to try:
check that you don't have any old modules in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
update the device drivers for your graphics/video/display adapter
enable or disable Hardware Acceleration (Flash Player Settings)

  • Why Flash Player Is Buffering Slow After Windows 8 Update

After I have updated my windows  8 in my HP Pavilion N-15 Core i-3 notebook, the flash player is running creepy and I am unable to watch and stream videos online.
That is very frustrating, I asked microsoft about this but they said there may be problem in flash player. I tried to figure out what causing this creepy streaming but haven't resolved this issue. Can any one help me over this?
    Thanks

1.) Do you have the same issue in other browsers?
2.) Do you see an improvement when you disable hardware acceleration (instructions in the troubleshooting guide below):
         https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html
3.) Are you using any ad-blocking, anti-tracking, video capture plugins or software firewalls?  If so, what are they (include versions)?
If you're still stuck, please follow the directions in the guide on providing the dxdiag report and additional information about what you tested and saw.

  • Flash player plays videos slow and jumpy.  Have to put on pause and wait for it to load.

Since the new Flash Player release, videos on Youtube, CNN, FOX will start to load then do a buffering, then play a little more, stop again.
When I hit on pause and let it load fully, it is the only way I can watch the video.
Unless it is a video I really want to watch, the effort takes to long.
It started with the new release of Flash Play on both my desktop with windows XP and new laptop with Windows 7.
I have spent days reviewing this forum and tried all your suggestions.
Are there any new suggestions besides all those that have already been given or do we have to just wait for a new release of Flash Player
to take care of all these bugs that I have been reading that others also have?

    Hi eidnolg,
I have great news on my end for this problem.
Researching another solution all started with the email that I received from adninjastrator ( [email protected])
about it might be something with my internet server and HiDef videos.
I phoned Qwest help line and they told me my speeds coming in for okay.
Then I sent a email to a Qwest online tech and explained how it all started about the time of  the flash player update on both of my computers.
I told them about all my trouble shooting on your forum.
Within 2 hours of my email, I got a reply back from the Qwest tech.
Quote from Qwest internet provider, email response:
I understand you are having concerns about your speed.
I have spoken to an engineer and we have made some changes.
    You should see immediate results.
I went to Youtube, CNN and FOX and they all worked.  Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know what programming problem that they fixed, but it worked.
Thanks to adninjastrator for getting me started on checking with my internet server provider.
Thank you eidnolg for all your suggestions for solving this issue.
It was also a learning process for me, doing research on checking for computer problems.

  • Is there a Flash Player version that works on Vista 64-bit computers?

Basically, that's the question.  It was working and then there was an upgrade message and I upgraded and now I have had to uninstall flash player and have nothing to use.  Is there going to be a version for Vista 64-bit operating systems?  A lot of websites use Flash Player for all their clips.  Is there another player that would work?
Currently using Internet Explorer 9 but I am perfectly willing to go back of Mozilla Firefox if that will help.

Why did you have to uninstall it?
Anyway, the 64-bit installer at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550 should work fine on Vista x64.

Changing user of the update task to a domain administrator didn't work either....
    What can I do?
    Thanks!

So, we have the same issue, sorry for the cross-post, so i'll continue in this thread.
I don't know if i understand Chris' posting correct. If I start the FlashPlayerUpdateService by hand, nothing happens, only this entries are written to the log:

There is also no pop-up showing that a new version is available. If I understand the Auto-Updatefeature correct, the version should be updated automatically to the newest one, we have installed at the moment 11.2.202.235 and waiting for the 11.3.x version

  • Flash Player v10 slow and crashy in Debian/Linux

    Hello!
Is it me or is the latest Flash Player v10 plugin slow in
    IceWeasel/SeaMonkey in 32-bit Debian/Linux? I could CPU usages were
high for Flash too. I have an Athlon 64 X2 dual core CPU with 3 GB
of RAM, EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (512 MB; NVIDIA drivers), etc.
I had WIndows XP Pro. SP2 and SeaMonkey, and no speed problems with
    Flash v10.
I also noticed having Flash running and looking at settings,
my SeaMonkey Web browser crashes. :(
    Thank you in advance. :)

I've discovered that with lastest alpha x64 native version I've more performance problem vs the wrapper/x86 version (on 64 bit system).
I've removed the native version (installed manually from me) and installed from synaptic the "flashplugin-nonfree" package (x86 version + wrapper), and created mms.cfg on /etc/adobe/mms.cfg with this line:
    OverrideGPUValidation=true
This line can make system unstable (not my system).
If this happen, you can try to add on your firefox link this line before "LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libGL.so.1" without quotes.
    The result is:
    LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libGL.so.1 firefox
I hope this info can help Flash Linux community.
