Flash Player 10.1 won't replace 10.0

I am unable to upgrade my installation of Adobe Flash Player 10.0.32.18 to the latest version of 10.1. I am running Firefox 3.6.7 on an XP SP3 machine. I am not a system admin (this is just a workstation), but my account does have admin rights.
In a nutshell, I installed 10.0 some time ago (and has worked just fine). When the 10.1 update was released and Firefox pointed out that I might want to upgrade, I did so, using the Adobe DLM software. It showed 10.1 being downloaded and installed, though once the page refreshed to show the complete installation, the Flash animation still shows 10.0.32.18 as the installed version. Checking my Firefox plugins confirms that 10.1 was not actually installed.
I've uninstalled via Windows' "Add and Remove Programs" screen and then reinstalled, but I get the same thing. I've even used Adobe's uninstallation tool to no avail. No matter what I do, installing 10.1 results in 10.0.32.18 being installed.
Any ideas?

Hi, are you the Administrator? You need full Admin. rights to Install Flash Player. That Flash Player version is quite old. The Adobe Uninstaller is the only way to Uninstall Flash Player. Also be aware the Uninstaller removes Flash Player from ALL browsers.
Someone not too long ago had Admin rights, but was on a domain and that didn't work. If you want to try again, I would follow the instrctions on the Adobe Uninstall guide and download the Uninstaller to your Desktop.
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download the Flash Player Installer for Firefox and SAVE it to your Desktop:
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
Be sure to follow instructions on the Uninstaller guide, Close all browsers, Run the Uninstaller, Reboot, followed by the Installer and a final Reboot.
Test here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Hope that works for you.
Thanks,

I can't watch YouTube videos on my brand new MacBook Pro with Lion. It says I need to download Adobe Flash Player but that won't install. Help!

The same thing happens to me, Safari asks me to update the Adobe FlasPlayer, I download, start the installation process, ask me my username and password in order to install, then see a window where I choose if I want to always install the updates , or ask first, or not inslate updates, and at this point it is not progress, I can not cancel the process, I turn off and turn on my machine.
    What can I do ..??

  • After installing the latest version of adobe flash player, my internet won't work properly.

I'm not sure if anyone can help, but you might know of where or who else I can ask. I have Mac 10.4.11 and yesterday my internet was working fine. My computer had just performed an automatic firefox update, as is usual. When firefox restarted it suggested that I update my adobe flash player, which I was pretty sure could use an update. So I did. I downloaded and installed the latest version. SINCE then my internet has been doing strange things. It often acts like I've lost my internet connection - I open a new tab or type a new address into the browser and it won't do anything or go anywhere. It doesn't tell me that I've lost my internet connection. It's like something's blocking it because it doesn't even attempt to load the new page or website. And I know that I haven't lost my internet connection. I have to quit firefox completely, and then re-open it for it to work, and even then it will only work for a few minutes at the most. I have no idea what's going on or how to fix it.

Try relaunching Safari and/or logging out/into your Mac.
Then browse to this Adobe page to verify you have the latest version of Flash installed -> http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html

  • Flash Player 10.3 won't stay loaded?

Hi, I have XP Media Center Edition SP3, and recently had a catastrophic software failure. I had to reinstall windows over itself in the same directory. Since then, a few things don't work quite right. One of them is, almost every time I reboot my computer, shortly thereafter I get the notice that Adobe Flash Player 10.3 upgrade is available. I accept it, install it, and all seems fine, until sometime after my next reboot, and it asks the same question again. I think I've installed it about 4 times now. is there something in the registry that could be corrupted keeping this program from registering it has been upgraded? I also noticed that in internet explorer, some buttons on some web pages won't work (like Ebay). Some links do work, but some others don't do anything. I load Firefox, and the entire page works fine. I'm not sure if that's a flash issue or not.
    Thanks.

Flush did the trick. Safari and Firefox both now show video's from http://www.vancouversun.com/
I had tried suggestions from many prior threads such as: enabling popups, allowing 3rd party cookies, uninstal / re-install Flash, manually deleting LSO cookies in Library / preferences / macromedia / flashplayer, clearing history & cookies via preferences -- nothing worked.
All is now normal. Plus I've gone back to blocking popups and 3rd party cookies and videos keep playing.

  • Flash Player Settings box Won't Close

Hi! I'm using windows 7, Internet Explorer. For months now nearly every time I try to watch a video the "adobe flash player settings" box pops up with the "allow/deny" screen. Whichever I click, the box won't go away. The whole video will play with that box right in the middle, blocking the screen. How do I close this box? I can't even move it out of the way.
I've searched for an answer, but apparently I'm the only one in the world with this problem because I can't find this topic when I search on google or yahoo.

The problem is related to our anti-clickjacking logic.  Because there are pixels changing around the dialog, we think that something may be obscuring the dialog when you click, so we don't register it as valid.
The dialog is coming up because you've set a non-default setting in Flash (probably restricting the ability of sites to store Local Shared Objects on your computer).  The easiest way to get around this problem is to just get rid of the dialog entirely by allowing LSOs.  You can do this by going to Control Panel > Flash Player > Storage> Allow sites to save information on this computer.
This control comes from way back in the '90s, when marketers were abusing this capability of Flash to track consumer behavior by storing unique identifiers.  While this technique is still used to some degree, the capabilities of HTML5 and server-side fingerprinting have far outstripped Flash's usefulness as a tracking technology for marketers in both ease and resilience.  So, while you can still disable LSOs on your computer, it offers you very little in terms of privacy in 2015, and it degrades the user experience significantly.
Instead, when you do want to use Flash Player without accumulating information that might later be used to track you, use your browser's Private/Incognito browsing mode.  Flash Player will still be allowed to store things on your computer (so the content runs as expected with no degradation in the experience), but it all goes into a temporary location that's destroyed when you exit the browsing session.

  • Flash player for safari won't download

Flash Player for Safari 7.04 won't download. It's not an antivirus issue because it's turned off, everything is enabled.

    Chris,
My problem was that while the installer downloaded, the installation process always crapped out and gave me this error message: "Error: Unable to proceed with the installation". Tried everything and none of it worked. I COULD download v12 of Flash, but noticed that it used a different style of installer that has a simpler, "chunkier" progress bar and overall look, and doesn't ask about whether Flash should check for updates automatically until AFTER the install was done (different from the standard v14 installer, which has a skinnier progress bar and prompts you about auto updates before most of the installation happens).
Just saw your post, downloaded the installer from the macromedia link you provided, and it installed fine! Superfast. Done and done.
In doing so, however, I noticed that the alt version of the v14 Flash installer from your link also has the same simpler, chunkier type of installer as v12. is there a know problem with the standard (skinny progress bar) version of the installer and Mavericks? This has happened before, and I'm now just realizing that the installs only ever work with the "alt" style of installer.
    a) Is Adobe aware of this problem? are they working to make a fix so that i don't have to pull my hair out everytime there's a new security update for Flash?
    b) Would you please consider posting your solution in a more obvious place? I'm betting there are a lot of other Mac users having this issue, but because Adobe help can be sort of a byzantine mess (not you, obviously, but the system itself) I'm betting there are a ton of Mac users that are just giving up, like I almost did. Making this issue known, and positing the alt download will save many people many hours of grief.
    Thanks for posting your solution!
    Cheers,
    M
FYI: I'm on a MacBook Pro with Retina (original) running 10.9.3. I have a 750 GB SSD hard drive, 16 GB of RAM, and a 2.7 GHz Core i7 processor.

  • Upgraded flash player, now it won't work (Win7 64bit, IE9)

I upgraded Flash Player last night, and now it won't work, period.  I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling ad nauseum, but to no avail.  Based on some of the troubleshooting information, it looks like it's not appearing in IE's list of add-ons, but I don't know how to fix it so that it does - the install insists it's successful every time.
    Anyone know what's going on?

If I go to the versions page, it wants me to install Adobe Flash (again), regardless of how many times I've run the installation before.

  • Flash Player 10.1 Won't register

I went to log on to www.Hulu.com and the site that I needed to download the latest verson of Flash Player. I clicked the download and install and got an error message: Could not register Active X controls. I am logged on to the computer as the adminstrator, and have done everything in the troubleshooting section of the Adobe website and now I can no longer watch video anywhere on the web. I'm running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 with Service Pack 3 and IE8 32bit version. I downloaded the manual installer and tried the uninstall the way the instructions on the website said, and ran the manual installer and got the same error message. About 10minutes proir to to signing on to Hulu, Flash Player was working just fine. The website bearly menations this error message, when it dose, it gives a whole list of registeries files that Flash Player needs, but says nothing about what to do if those files are not there. Can anyone help me with this problem.

This is not the exact same problem I was having, but I'm just trying to share my fix b/c it took me 3 days
