Flash Player 10.2 latest brings BSOD

Just upgraded this AM.  Received email from friend with 4 links to youtube vids.
Clicked link 1, browser opens, vid plays.
Click link 2, browser changes page ... BSOD
nv4_disp.dll is the identified culprit on BSOD
Happens every time.
Uninstall Flash and the links work.  No vids, obviously, but the browser pages properly

Okay Blondie,
Dell Latitude D owner's solution to 10.2.152.32 problems:
1) Visit Dell Drivers & Downloads.
2) Flash to latest BIOS
3) Update NVIDIA drivers
4) Turn on hardware acceleration for FP
5) X-fingers.
Update the rest of the system drivers... what the hey, it's not like you're gonna do anything else but reboot for the next two hours anyway.

PS.  Know this, it's all headed for a major crash someday.

  • I deleted my version of Adobe Flash Player for the latest version and then it wouldn't install. Now I have no version and need advice as to trying to install an older version or what?

Since the latest version of Adobe Flash Player wouldn't install after deleting the version I had that did work, should I try to install an older version?
I just checked in the control panel and my add/remove programs and listed is Adobe Flash Player Active X, version 11.1.102.55. But when I tried to view a video I could not and got a message saying I needed Adobe Flash Player. Now I'm really confused?????

    Hi,
What does "still won't work" mean?  Flash Player 10.3.183.90 is very old.  You might find that many sites require a newer version of Flash Player to view content, perhaps this is what you mean by "still won't work".   Depending on your system, you may be able to upgrade to OS X 10.6 which will enable you to install the newest version of Flash Player.  There's lots of information on this on the internet.  Just search for "upgrade OS X 10.5.8 to 10.6" or similar.

  • Adobe Flash Player 10.1 (latest) does not load video on some sites

Since updating the Flash player to 10,1,82,76 many sites with flash video does not load content and usually stays black or showing a loading icon forever. Same result in all browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox).
One example is revision3.com, where flash video never loads. However, flash video loads fine on youtube.com for instance. I have been trying to uninstall, reboot, repair permissions and install again with the no success.
Anyone experienced this and found a solution?
    Thanks!

Odd. Revision3 works fine for me. In fact the opening shot of the video I tested is someone sitting at a desk with an Apple Macbook!
As you get the same error in all browsers, try uninstalling and reinstalling Flash Player:
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Firefox won't play flash player even though latest version is installed

I can't play videos (eg on BBC website) - I keep being prompted to install Flash. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled Flash several times but to no avail. The "always activate" is selected in the addons page. Also the old version of shockwave is still showing on the listing and I can't delete it.

Looks like you have 2 Flash DLL files for Firefox.
    Shockwave Flash 9.0 r45
    Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0
My advice is to uninstall Flash and install again.
First, grab the Adobe uninstaller from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
Then download the latest Flash Plugin version from here:
    Select ''Plugin-based browsers''
    https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
Seeing that you are using WinXP you might want to consider using the Extended Support Release - Flash Player 13.0.0.269 - instead of Flash 16.0.0.305 which has many features for Vista and later versions of Windows than WinXP can use. ''Works better for me, and gets far fewer updates.''
Run the Flash uninstaller program, then reboot your PC.
Then install the Plugin version of Flash. So you'll have a clean installation of Flash for Firefox.

  • Whenever firefox updates itself it always says that I must update flash player with the latest edition which I already have!

I tried uninstall and install it again but whenever there is a firefox update it appears again!
A similar problem I encounter with java. Whenever I close and open my PC and start firefox ALWAYS firefox finds updates for java 6.0.01 and 6.0.02 updates! (I tried to re-install java but with no result)
Are these problems connected? What should I do?

    You have Flash 10.1 r53 , the latest version is 10.1 r82
For Windows an east way to install it is to use the manual installer, for details see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller

  • Cannot use Adobe Flash Player after latest update to v11.8.800.170

I just updated Adobe Flash Player to the latest version 11.8.800.170 on Chrome v30. I am using windows 7.
Most of the videos I try to watch on youtube have audio, but no video. Some of them freeze Chrome (use up a ton of memory on my PC).
I tried going to settings, can't see the dialogue, hence I cannot disable hardware acceleration.
    What is going on here?

    Try the offline installer:

  • Have two copies of flash player in add-ons file --- latest and old one --- how to get rid of old one....

In reviewing and updating add-on using add-on manager the manager screen shows two copies of adobe flash player --- 11.9 latest version and and old version 9.0....... How do i get rid of the 9.0 entry. The plug in for 9.0 doesn't show up in my control panel for installed programs.
    Thanks.
Also of what value is the java deployment tool kit.

    (1) You should be able to uncover the location of the other plugin from the '''about:plugins''' page (type or page about:plugins into the address bar and press Enter).
    (2) If it ''doesn't'' show there for some reason, on 32-bit Windows, Firefox generally finds the Flash Player plugin using registry entries that point into the Windows folder:
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
The plugin files have the name following the pattern npswf...dll and the most recent should have a name similar to NPSWF32_11_9_900_152.dll. Can you find the old one there and delete it?
    (3) If the obsolete DLL file is not located there, either, it may have been dropped into the Firefox program folder. On 32-bit Windows, you could check for it here:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\plugins
    (4) Still not found? In that case, you might need to look into the Windows registry for the information.

  • Flash player causing blue screen upon loading video

    Hello,
I have recently bought a new system. Everything runs  perfectly except for one critical problem; I can't view flash videos or  anything played in a web browser by flash player.
Animated flash  advertisements will load to the first couple of frames, I will hear a  bit of noise and then a brief 1-2 second system hang and straight in to a  bluescreen. Same goes for youtube etc, might see a frame, if that, a  brief noise and hang/bluescreen. This has occurred since I have  purchased the PC.
I have attempted to fix the problem by updating  my graphics drivers to the latest, updating flash player to the latest,  updating sound drivers to the latest.
    System:
    AMD i5 750
    ATI  Radeon 5870
    Realtek audio
    Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
    Mozilla Firefox 3.6.6 -------------> Flash player 10.1
I am just viewing the bluescreen  dump file, there is no bug check string, however it seems to indicate an  AMD/graphics driver causing the conflict.

    Intel Q6600
    ATI  Radeon 4850 (drivers v10.9)

it started before last summer, it doesn't happen often but lets just say its making me rather nervous to use youtube and other sites that use flash now.
i've read allot of people have this problem and have traced it to using flash. i hope somebody at adobe is listening and not trying to blame hardware makers or drivers about this problem.
i disabled hardware acceleration, i hope this does the trick until a real fix can be found
btw if any flash animation gives a BSOD how else could we turn it off ? Think about it for a second people

  • OS 10.6.5 updater and flash player

knowing that 10.6.5 updater brings flash player up to the latest available, I uninstalled the version of flash player I had installed (knowing Adobe recommends that you uninstall the old one before installing a newer version). So, I uninstalled it using hte provided adobe flash player uninstaller. I then ran the 10.6.5 updater and was surprised to find that it did not install flash player.
Can I assume that, in this the case, the 10.6.5 updater will not install (or update) flash player if it does not find it already there?

I am confusted, the notes in the 10.6.5 says it updates your flash player to the latest one...

  • Flash player on FACEBOOK

    Hi!
I have installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player like 3 times. But it is still not working on my Facebook when I am trying to upload bulk photos / create album into my account. It keep bringing me to this page though my Flash Player is the latest version.
I have checked Manage add-ons and ActiveX filtering and everything is at its normal.
    Currently using IE11-Release Preview.
    Hope someone can help.
    Thanks.

I have the same problem on Youtube and Facebook.
I have installed Adobe Flash Player 11.9.900.117 on my Windows 7 HP notebook with IE11. I have installed it successfully (confirmed by Adobe) five times, restarting my computer two of those times to see if that'd work.
When I returned to enable flashplayer on my toolbar, I discovered 'Shockwave Flash Object' was already enabled.
Even Adobe refuses to recognize that I have downloaded it:
So either there is a detection problem with Adobe as well, or the entire program is messed up. I can't watch youtube or flash videos, play anything in flash, or upload any photos as a result.

  • Errors on my web site started with Flash Player Release a few days ago (Mar 28, 2012)

    Hi,
I have a Flash based video player on my website.  This was designed and implemented based on an article vy Lisa Larson-Kelley.  It has run flawlessly for several years.  But, when I installed the lastest release of Flash Player a fedw days ago (Mar 28, 2012), I am now getting really annoying issues with the Flash Video Player.
I expect that I will need to place insturctions for users on how to roll back their version of Flash Player, since this latest version is broken.
But, many of the people who visit my site are not tech oriented (they are mostly friends and family, so, I don't expect that they will really roll back their version of Flash player.
I am 100% certain the issue is the latest version of Flash, since these errors never occurred until I installed the latest version.
On my work laptop, I have an older version of Flas (10.x.x) and this probelm does not happen.  On my desktop PC at home, I have an older version of Flash 11 installed, and this problem does not happen (in IE9).  The version of Flash PLayer 11 where the issue does *not* occur is 11.1.102.63.
On that same desktop PC, if I use Chrome, (which automatically defaults to the latest version of Flash which is 11.2.202.228, I get the problems.  So, there is no question that the issue is with the latest version of Flash and not my hardware or drivers.  I get the same problems on three different computers.
My website has a username and password.  If someone from Adobe wants to replicate the problem send me an e-mail and I will send you the username and password.
The videoplayer on my website is at this url:  http://www.jjjhi.com/TryMakingFlashVidPlayer/VideoPlaylist.html (but, you will need the username and password).
The issue is that sometimes (not always) when you select a video to play, inistead of the video loading into the panel as it should (sized as 1025 x 578), instead, all you see is the control skin.  The video begins to play, but all you get is the audio.  It looks like this:
You can recover from this error by using the skin control to make the image full screen, but, the video looks poor at fulls screen, because it is created at 1024 x 578.  You can then get the correct size by returning from full screen, but, I don't want the pepole who visit my cif\deo playet to have to go all through that.  Especially since most won't even know enough to try making the video full screen.
This doesn't happen for every video on my web site, but, once it *does* happen once...it will happen for every video selection you make.
This is unacceptable, and it absolutely a function of Flash version 11.2.202.228.
Adobe:  Please fix this bug as soon as possible.
I've implemented an HTML5 based video player and have begun populating it with mp4 versions of my video clips, but, quite honestly, the playback using HTML5 is much worse than with Flash.  I encoded the clips in the HTML5 player with the same Variable Bit Rates as in the F4V clips, and, in the HTML5 player, there are missed frames, and the audio can get out of sync.  So, I *want* to keep using my Flash Based video player, but...if Adobe doesn;t fix this, I will just dial down my VBR till I find one that is slow enough to play in HTML5 and ditch Flash.
My HTML5 video player is here:
    http://www.jjjhi.com/TryMakingNewVideoPlayer/NewVidPlayer_option1_jth.html
(again you need the username and password to use it, send me an e-mail and I will give them to you, I just don't want to post them in an open forum).
Here is a bitmap of the page:  It is quite snazzy looking and is based on an excellent class from Chris Converse at Lynda.com.  But, even though it is 'snazzy looking' the HTML5 player performs poorly on an under-powered machine (like my work laptop).  It uses 100% CPU and misses frames and the audio loses sync.  The same videos encoded with the same VBR for Flash (F4V) play great, *except for the new issue described above!!!!)
I Adobe can fix this issue with Flash Player 11.2.202.228  ASAP, else, I will  have to 'downgrade' to an HTML5 based video player, that, quite honestly does not perform as well as Flash.
If you want to reproduce the problem contact me at my e-mail address: [email protected] and I'll send you the username and password.
You can then prove that the problem does not exist with prior version of Flash player (before 11.2.202.228) but *does* exist with this latest buggy release.
    Thanks,
    John

    Thanks.
I sent the username and PW to you and Chris.
    Cheers,
    John

  • Flash player crashes my computer when used . . . please help!

the newest versions of flash player required for use in you tube and hulu crash my computer and causes it to reboot. I'm using windows xp home edition 32 bit, have updated my drivers, and have tried to use several different versions of the flash player 10( installing the other versions first), as well as trying to use it in internet explorer 8, firefox 5, and google chrome. The computer does not crash unless the flash player is in use. I have tried everything I can think of, to no avail. This problem did not happen UNTIL I was forced to udate the flash player to the latest version in order to watch Hulu and you tube due to their requirements. PLEASE HELP!

New Features for Flash Player 13:
Enhanced Supplementary Character Support for TextField
Characters from the Basic Multilingual Plane (BMP) with Unicode code points between U+10000 and U+10FFFF now work correctly in TextField controls.  This change greatly enlarges the code point range we support, and now includes characters like emoticons and complex CCJK characters.
    New Stage3D Texture Wrapping Modes
Developers can currently set the wrapping mode of a texture to either clamp or repeat.  Using the repeat option will repeat the texture on both the U and V axis.  However, in some use cases, you may only want to repeat the texture on either the u or v axis.
This is now possible with the introduction of two new parameters:  REPEAT_U_CLAMP_V and CLAMP_U_REPEAT_V
    Stage3D Anti-Aliasing for Texture Rendering
Anti-Aliasing is a useful for improving perceived image quality.  Hardware based Multisampling Anti-Aliasing (MSAA) is now available on all desktop platforms.  To enable MSAA, set the level from 0 to 4 using the antiAlias property of the Context3D.setRenderToTexture() method.
    0 = 1 subsample, no antialiasing
    1 = 2 subsamples, minimum quality antialiasing
    2 = 4 subsamples, medium quality antialiasing
    3 = 8 subsamples, high quality antialiasing
    4 = 16 subsamples, maximum quality antialiasing
Relocated Full Screen Video Warning to Top of Screen
We've made a small tweak to the "Press Esc to exit full screen mode" warning that is displayed for full screen video.  We've received feedback from developers and users that the dialog obscures content.  We wanted to make a change that both satisfies security concerns and customer viewing enjoyment.  To reduce the impact of the dialog on the on-screen content, we've moved the dialog to the top of the screen.
    Notable Fixes and Enhancements:
3620987 : TextBlock.findPreviousAtomBoundary incorrect after TextElement.replaceText when discretionary hyphens are used
3683154 : Cannot get a get swf file to play in Chrome browser
3683745 : API documentation says Event.PASTE says bubbles == false, but it is true in Flash Player
    3690516 : TextField scrolls when it shouldn't, because it's including/considering trailing non-zero "leading" value
3693856 : [windows 8.1]PrintJob start() method is still crashed
3702884 : Flash 13 Beta: ActiveX invalidation no longer functions
3703799 : New version 12.0.0.44 doesn't fully install and failure to install blocks all media playing capability
3717098 : Exclude Windows 8.x from CUPT & SCUP catalog for ActiveX installation
3058752 : The 'Press ESC to exit full screen' dialog has been moved to the top of the screen for non stage video
3617020 : Addresses an issue where Flash Player was polling GamePad before the GamePad API was invoked
3683154 : [Chrome] sciencenetlinks.com - Resolves an issue where content would not load completely in rare instances where a PPAPI getDownloadProgress event was not received
3679210 : Resolved an issue where TextBlock.findPreviousAtomBoundary would return an incorrect value if it was called after TextElement.replaceText when discretionary hyphens were used
3679537 : [OS X 10.9] Flash Player's native control panel can now be launched through the right-click context menu as expected. [Requires OS X 10.9.1 (13B40) or higher]
3680211 : Resolves an issue where Flash Player would stop rendering when embedded in a page that also contains WebGL Canvas element and was forced to fall back to software rendering.
    3679556 : [Win8.1] starwars.com - Full Screen content now renders in Full-Screen mode
3685541 : [Win8.1] Flash Player now handles IVS characters and surrogate pairs correctly in TextFields.
    3697077 : [Win8.1] nba.com - Video controls are now correctly displayed in Full-Screen Mode
3685519 : [Win8.x] Pressing the Menu key on the software keyboard now correctly triggers the right-click context menu when in Modern mode.

3703367 : [Win 8.x] - Resolves an issue where videos in Full-Screen mode were cut off when the zoom setting was greater than 100% on cnn.com

3698459 : [Win 8.x] - Local video playback will now start automatically when PlayTo is disconnected during playback
3698456 : [Win 8.x] - PlayTo will now start in the correct location when switching between the Digital Media Renderer and the local PC
3714236 : Chrome Mac][HTTP Live Streaming] Resolves an issue where enabling the ABR switch caused flickering
3712302 : [Safari 7] ProductManager.isAllowed() now returns the correct value
3711206 : [HTTP Live Streaming] Switching from an Audio-only stream to an Audio/Video stream now works as expected
3696436 : Users can be upgraded to vulnerable beta builds (windows only)
