Flash Player 10 is not playing audio from Youtube with Vista and IE

Since installing FP10, I cannot get audio when playing YouTube video. I'm running Vista with SP2 and IE on an HP laptop. Flash 0 on my XP desktop plays audio fine, so I'm guessing its a setting on my laptop which needs changing back to what it was before the upgrade to FP10...any ideas please? I have uninstalled and the reinstalled FP10 as per other posts on this forum, but no success.

My problem was that I was not getting flash audio at all, including local publishes out of the IDE. The problem was that my Windows Audio service had stopped (for some reason).
To check :
(classic view) :: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services >
(non-classic) :: Computer (right click) > Manage > Services and Applications > services >
(one of the above, then) :: [scroll down to 'Windows Audio'] > r-click 'properties', general tab, set the start-up type to manual (in the dropdown), and click the start button on the next line.

If you mean the internal speakers in your Mac, you can't play audio through them at the same time you have anything plugged into the headphone jack. When you plug something into the headphone jack, it disconnects the internal speakers.

Flash player will not play flvs from folder with name containing non-Roman Chars

We're trying to play flash as part of a program that can be installed to locations including non-Roman chars (European, Arabic, Chinese, etc.). When the installation path includes any non Roman chars, video will not play. The non-roman chars are garbled when Flash tries to load the flvs. Correct non-Roman chars are: ńśćłł. When loading video it gets translated to: Ĺ„Ĺ›Ä‡Ĺ‚Ĺ‚
We've found this happens whether we are trying to access the video from the xulrunner app or by taking the activities out and running them within an html frame.
Audio on the other hand is no problem

Not exactly sure what you are doing, but it is obvious that some part of the program you are running does not support multibyte characters like Unicode.
If you are developing that application, make sure it is Unicode enabled. If it is Flash (or Flash Player) that doesn't understand it, then you may not be able to do anything about it.
What I would try if I were to encounter the situation, I would try to use the DOS (8.3) path names, like C:\Documents and Settings would normally be C:\DOCUME~1 or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users would be C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1 etc.
Use the DIR /X command to find out what the DOS folder names are.

Flash player wil l not play

We have recently ugraded from vista to windows 7 flash player works on most sites but on my own web site to take an online course with power point slide s and audio the screen pops up and then you here a line or two of audio and full page does not load with text. you tube works fine and others just cant get my online course to load and play.. works fine on some of my other computers that has windows 7 and vista

Could you check to see if you have the following Windows update installed?
KB2670838 – Platform Update for Windows 7 x64
If so, please try updating your video drivers. If you continue to run into problems try uninstalling that KB and try again.

ITunes 7.1.1.5 will not play audio from inserted cd

I have been experiencing an issue with iTunes on my PC. It will not play any audio from inserted discs. This includes burned discs and commercial discs. When I attempt to play the music the song will stay highlighted briefly, about 2 sec., and then it goes directly to the next song on the disc. This continues through the disc to the end. I experience the same issue when trying to import the disc.
I have tried removing the iTunes application and doing a fresh re-install, but I have the same issue.
Also, this is on a PC, and I am able to open the disc's in question and play the content fine within Media Player.
Any idea's on this would be greatly appreciated!

Flash Player 10.1 Not Releasing Audio Device

I recently installed FlashPlayer 10.1 on a Sun SPARC Solaris 10 system. The new version of the plugin does not appear to be releasing the audio device when a video is terminated by navigating away from a page. However, if I completely exit the Firefox 3.6.6 browser that appears to have the device locked, then it is freed for use by another application. I never experienced this problem with past versions, but it is now happening repeatedly after the upgrade. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong and is there anything I can do to improve the situation? Thanks.

Hi, Sometimes the update of the Safari browser disables the Shockwave Flash plugin. Look into the HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ directory and see if you have: Make sure it is Enabled.

Flash player 13 does not play our widevine content.

This is strictly related to the flash player version, since all our tests show that flash player 11 and 12 works fine on PC/MAC all browsers, and never with flash player 13. The video process goes all the way to decrytping the conent, since you can see frozen images when you scrub the video, but it does not actually play the content.
I have read the release notes, but can't find anything useful.

i have a 8 year old computer with windows 7 ultimate 32 bit which these things work on.
I also just got a new hp windows 7 upgrated to ultimate. i do as the old computer example a video on www.denverbroncos.com and it works fine on the old computer but on the new computer it plays the add but stalls out before running the video. i have uninstalled both google crome and flash player restarted my computer and installed flash player which also installed crome and got no new results.

FLV needs to be inside of a SWF container that manages it's playback. The Media Player provides that for you, but the standalone Flash Player doesn't. So you can make one in Flash easily with components, or you can just download any one of the many free ones (for example, I've personally used Jeroen Wing's "JV Player" from longtail)

Hi,
First, try resetting Internet Explorer as follows - be aware that this will remove Bookmarks and Saved Passwords etc.
Open windows Control Panel, open Internet Options, click the Advanced tab and then click the Reset button. Click 'Yes' or 'Ok' to any further prompts required to complete the process.
Next, follow the guide by Daniel_Potyrala on the link below to completely uninstall and then reinstall the Flash Player Plug-in.

Airtunes will not play sound from youtube

Hi, I have just bought Apple PC for myself. It Works flawlessly, except for one thing. I can play radio or podcasts, but I just can't seem to get trhe sound from youtube videos or movies to play through airtunes. The logic seems to be thatsounds from movies cannot be played through airtunes. It doesn't make sense, or does it?

Recording audio from laptop with T420s and combo port

Hi All,
I sometimes need to run my companys application and record the spoken messages for demo's etc. Previously, I did this simply by playing the messages through the laptop speakers and at the same time using the Windows Sound Recorder to record it from the laptop microphone (I didn't even need to use external speakers or microphone).
Now, with the new T420s that I have, when I speak into the laptop microphone it records my voice fine but when I use an application to play messages through the laptop speakers, the recorder does not pick up an sounds......is this a result of this "combo" port........if so, is there any way round it ?

I meant what if you recorded just your voice, then added the audio from your demo after the fact?
The sound chip takes the microphone input, and subtracts the speakers sound. This is what is needed most of the time, but in your case, it seems to be the exact opposite. Not sure if this can be disabled in SmartAudio.
You'll probably need Virtual Audio Cable to record multiple streams.

The NPR page uses Flash, and apparently does not have an equivalent HTML5 page.
If you're using Click-To-Flash and/or Click-To-Plug-in in Safari, make sure Flash is permitted on the page in question.

Spotify does not play audio from my desktop

DescriptionBefore today, Spotify worked fine on my laptop but now whenever I go to play a song the time will start but no audio will come out or the song won't start playing at all. Also, I am unable to jump to different points in the song; instead it just goes back to the beginning. Audio works with everything else on my computer so it's definitely a Spotify problem. I can still play Spotify through my phone and I can choose songs to play on my phone from my desktop, but I still can't play from my computer. A more detailed description, using numbered steps1. So I just took this from user JayLB and it solved my problem, it should help you out too. If this is the case then users are running into a corrupt cache issue of the spotity desktop app. Because when you change cache folders it writes new clean cache files and everything that was once Stored under C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Spotify again, when you instructed the app to write a new one into the folder selected by the settings changed. To fix these corrupted cache folder do this first. 1. Log out of the spotify desktop app and exit the app as well.2. Go to Task Manager, look for any processes that says SpotifyHelper.exe, select any and all of them and chose end task.3. Go to this file location C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Spotify, delete everything inside the folder. Do Not Worry the Spotify App will rewrite everything back when you load and log back into the app.4. Make sure to clean out your Recycle Bin as well.5. Log back in and see if the same problem persists. If it has stopped doing this, you removed the cache files that were corrupted successfully.6. You will need to reoffline any music you had again for offline playback. You might have to toggle playlists that where set for offline playback to online mode first, and then select them for offline mode again. If this did not work, then you need to double check if you where once a premium subscriber, double check in the Spotify desktop app settings that the High Quality Streaming option is not turned on. This playing tracks for a few seconds is a sign you might have let your premium expire on you, and you are still trying to stream in High Quality Option, the app won't play music correctly if this is set and premium has expired on your account.

CS4 does not play audio from .MTS file...only hash
