Flash Player 10, mouse disappears

Hello,
My wife's new laptop (an Acer) is running Windows Vista Home
Premium. She is using Internet Explorer 7. When she plays an online
game that uses Flash (example, Neopets) her mouse will frequently
disappear or vanish whenever she positions it over the "Flash" part
of the IE screen, make it unusable. Moving the mouse off the Flash
part of the screen results in the mouse reappearing, but she is
unable to return to the game.
All her Windows Updates are up to date, and she has
uninstalled/reinstalled Flash a couple of times, but no change.
Same thing happens in Firefox. Sounds like a Flash bug to me...but
can anyone suggest something else or a fix we can install? It's
quite frustrating.

Are you using 3.5 targeted for 10 or 4.x?  If you moved to 4.x and are
embedding fonts, you have to set embedAsCFF=false in the @fontFace

  • Please Help installing Flash player - flashplayer 10 disappeared?

Hi, Can anyone help??? I had downloaded Flashplayer 10 prob month or two ago. We went to watch a prog on I.player and told flashplayer not installed!!! Dont know where it went as we never uninstalled it????
For days I have been trying to install Flash player 11. But its not working. I have been through the online trouble shooting guide so many times. I am using Windows XP (32bit), I believe. Im not very computer literate
Most of the time, I get to the stage where Adobe black screen says to close 'Internet Explorer' and 'Retry'. This I do and then I am getting "General Installation Error".
On one occasion I did receive the Error: The Flash Player ActiveX control could not be registered. I went through the guide again and think that has been sorted. but I do not understand anything about 'Windows System Registry Entries'...  Sorry guys - a real computer dum dum

    Hi Josh,
Thanks for your help but sadly that did not help. Have repeatedly used your link to uninstall any possible hints of flashplayer.
I did notice that I had 'Google Chrome' installed and I noticed that I could watch some things via that, but I do not understand it at all.
As i thought that may be interfering with the Flash player download, I uninstalled that too.
But Sadly, I am still getting the same message when I try and install Flashplayer:
It installs to 50% and then gives the message "General Installation Error". It is so frustrating as nearly every website I go to asks me to download Adobe Flashplayer!
I know another kind person has suggested a rather technical approach to solving the problem but I am really soooo computer illiterate and am so worried about wrecking the system.
Do you have any other suggestions or should I pay to get someone to look at my PC? I just cannot understand how I had Adobe Flash player 10 installed, with Internet Explorer 8 AND now that has just disappeared. Prior to your sugg, I know that i did not uninstall it so not sure how it disappeared...... Have managed to download the other Adobe downloads without probs eg Shock Wave, Air etc
    With many thanks,

  • Flex 3.5 and Flash Player 10 -- text disappears?

    Hello,
I have an interesting problem. I have been developing a client app for the last year or so with Flex 3.5, compiled against a minimum version of Flash Player 9 in Flex Builder. It's a Facebook app.
Then I needed to move it to the web, use the Facebook Graph API, and to make it work on IE compile against a minimum Flash Player version of 10.
The Labels in my DataGrids and Lists no longer display their text. I've confirmed this by changing the Flex Builder setting and going back and forth between builds a few times.
Can anyone give me an idea what is happening?

  • ADOBE Flash player and Hulu

Ever since I updated to Adobe Flash 10.1 on my MacBook Pro i7, the full screen option on Hulu provides a choppy and unwatchable viewing experience. When the window is not full screen I have no issues. When I try to check out settings on the Flash player (right mouse click settings) the whole machine freezes up.
    Anyone else experiencing this?
    J3

    HI,
Always repair disk permissions after all software updates. This is common troubleshooting when having problems with Safari's performance.
When I try to check out settings on the Flash player (right mouse click settings) the whole machine freezes up.
Also, if you didn't uninstall the old Flash version before updating to 10.1... that could be why you are having problems.
    If necessary, Uninstall Flash
Then install the latest version of Flash here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=BUIGP

  • Abobe Flash Player 9, Active X

    Something really wierd is happening.
Over the course of the last few days I have had to reinstall
my Adobe Flash Player because it keeps disappearing from my system.
I have tried a few things and I think that I have narrowed it
    down to the exact problem.
Everytime that I delete the temp files in IE, the Adobe Flash
Player active X disappears from my add-ons and from the add/remove
    in the control panel.
Does anyone know why this is happening? This only started
happening within the last few days because I always clear the temp
files and Flash Player's Active X never disappearing before!
Yikes, this is to wierd! I may be wrong on this but I'm
thinking that possibly the latest Microsoft patch that I downloaded
on Tuesday may be the culprit.(KB929969) ??
    Thanks for your time,
    Decorte

It is recommended that you remove older versions of Flash
Player (unless they are needed for developer testing) when
    deploying the new MSI.
There is a known issue when attempting to uninstall using the
current MSI version 9.0.124.0. It will not completely remove all
entries in the system registry. This will be addressed for a future
    release of Flash Player.
You can include the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller in your
deployment process. The uninstaller can be downloaded from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
In addition, the MSI is only available for deployment via the
    Adobe Licensing Center:
    http://www.adobe.com/licensing/
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Webcakes included in Adobe Flash Player

I recently started having unwanted popup links on my website and only on my PC (Windows7) and sometimes when I clicked on a legitimate link it took me to an unknown website. I figured I was infected with some sort of malware or adware although a scan turned up nothing. When searching what was recently downloaded Adobe Flash Player was one of the programs.  I uninstalled everything that I was not familiar with (leaving the Flash Player) but I still had the popups. I then uninstalled Adobe Flash Player and popups disappeared. I went to reinstall Flash Player and at one point during the download I got the box to accept or decline the terms and then noticed that if I accepted “Webcakes” would be installed. I declined and installation continued and after installation the popups were back. Uninstalled again, popups gone. Reinstalled popups back. Uninstalled, popups gone. I think you get the message. How can I correct this because my site pops up with a message bar saying that Flash Player is required for this site? This is only when I view my site in IE8.  If I view in Chrome everything is good and there are no popups.  When I tried to install Flash Player using Chrome it says that it is already there. If it already exists in Chrome why wouldn’t it also exist in IE? Don’t understand that either but then again I am not a computer guru.

    Hi jacquienmo,
Webcakes shouldn't be bundled with your flash player.  What probably happened is you were already infected with the malicious adware and it sent you a fake alert to update your flash player bundling the webcake malware to it.
You may want to try to remove it using the instructions here.  While you're at it you should completely remove the old flash player that had webcake bundled in and download the legitimat copy.  Follow the installation instructions here.
As for the behavior you're seeing with Chrome, it's expected. Google Chrome comes pre-packaged with it's own version of Flash Player plugin, completely separate from the Flash Player plugin used in IE/FireFox.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mouse pointer is well above where it should be on Flash Player.

Every time I use a Flash Player window in Firefox, the mouse pointer is horrifically inaccurate. For example, on an online flash game, I'll be hovering over the top of three interactive boxes, but if I click it will click on the bottom box. It's as if it's cut off the bottom half of the player to click into and only allowed the top half, but when you click in the top half, it responds in the bottom half.
A really odd scenario, hopefully someone can help me out because it's stopping me playing any form of online flash game and that's how I pass most of the time!

Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

  • Why doesn't flash player stay installed and why does the saved file disappear.

Why doesn't flash player stay installed and why does the saved file disappear.  I have downloaded and installed flash player several times on my Win7 Vaio laptop. I have uninstalled and deleted all versions.  I am the administrator and I have also turned off my Security Software, but the same thing keeps happening over and over.  The Java Script is enabled and I have tried both downloading via IE and firefox.  It is rediculous that it keeps disappearing and I keep getting messages that the newest version is needed.  I am downloading directly from adobe and they say it is the latest.  Getting very frustrated.  They ask if we have any problems when we go to the finish line, but there is no place for comments.  I guess they don't really care if it works or not.

So is it actually installed, or is it not?  If not, download and run the offline installers:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
If it still does not work correctly, check
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/885448
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
In Firefox also check if the Shockwave Flash plugin is enabled.

  • Adobe Flash Player Installer Disappeared

    Hello,
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit)
    Browser: Firefox 3.6.12 (32 bit)
Flash Player: Adobe Flash Player 10.1 (2010-11-23)
I have downloaded and installed the adobe flash player from the following url http://get2.adobe.com/flashplayer/ (filename: flash+mss_d.exe around 8xx kb). Everything seems fine but after the installation flash+mss_d.exe got disappeared (maybe automatically got deleted). Then I checked my Kaspersky internet security report to see if there was any other process during the installation and I found an entry with (ssn-xxxxx.bat).  I tried the same thing with vista os, but the installation steps are bit different (including the installer exe filename). So what happened? Is this normal or did I install some kind of a malware? Anyway I'm pretty sure that, installer exe had the adobe systems digital signature.
    Thanks for any help!

I have no idea what "flash+mss_d.exe" is - never heard of such a file name.
Try to download the installers from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html

  • Flash player disappeared from Firefox; "required privilege?"

    Hi everyone,
I've spent hours & hours reading different posts online, on  adobe.com, etc, & find similar situations, but can't find anything on my exact issue.  (sorry if i'm beating a dead horse here & asking something that's already been dealt with....if so, please direct me to any posts that have dealt with this).
About a week ago, my flash player just "disappeared" from my Firefox, but still works in IE & shows version 10.1 in IE when i check it at Adobe's about page.  Everytime I try to watch videos in FF, it tells me i'm missing the plug in & to install flash player..doesn't matter what site it is.  It lets me download flash player for FF, but isn't showing in my plug in or download window in FF, & even after restarting FF, still won't play any flash stuff.  I even uninstalled FF & reinstalled it.
Here's the message I get everytime I install Flash Player from Adobe's site:  C:users/Teresa/appData/Local/Temp/FP_PL_PFS_INSTALLER.exe   "A required privilege is not held by the client". I have no idea what this means.  I have a 1 month old Toshiba laptop, Windows 7, 64 bit, & videos played just fine until about a week or less ago.  One morning, they just wouldn't play in FF.  Don't know what happened.  I can still watch vids in IE with no problems, & it shows that I have Version 10.1 installed in my program list.
Can anyone out there help me figure out what's going on?
    Thanks a bunch!

  • I have installed Flash Player 5 times. It keeps disappearing, or won't load when I'm running MSIE8.0

I am running Windows XP, MSIE 8.0. I have installed Flash Player 5 times. It keeps disappearing, or won't even install over Internet Explorer. It stops halfway, and tells me to close Internet Explorer because it can't install with it running. I did that yesterday, and it installed when I started IE again, so I thought the problem was solved. Then, today, I logged on and tried to use Flash Player.  It was not installed.  I re-installed it, and came to the same block. It will not install while Internet Explorer is running.

Download the correct 32-bit or 64-bit uninstaller and installer and exit I.E.8.

  • Adobe Flash Player has Disappeared from my FF Add-ons & won't reinstall

Adobe Flash Player has Disappeared from my FF (version 4.0.1) Add-ons & won't reinstall. The Adobe Test page says that I've successfully installed the latest version (10.3.181.34) of Flash Player but after trying this 4 times, Flash just refuses to show up in my add-ons/plug-ins and now some websites are not working correctly. (Using a Win7 Home, 64-bit, SP 1 desktop.)

Because the are different products and load/use/display different types of files. You either have both installed because you have used websites that need one or the other, or you don't. Don't worry about why they are named the way they are named, that is Adobe's decision. Just accept the facts and go on with your life.
