Flash player 11.3.300.262 is using a lot of memory

Since updating flash a few days ago the plugin has been using a lot more memory than usual. Normally it uses between 150MB to 200MB, but now i have seen it use up to 900MB.
I've noticed that memory use increases by 5MB or more when navigating through a video until i have to terminate the plugin because of the ridiculous amount of memory used.

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the [http://mozilla.com/plugincheck Mozilla Plugin Check site].
Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions.
If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow ''Update'' button or a red ''Update now'' button, please update these immediately.
To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

  • After I downloaded the new version of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262, I can't seem to play games with my friends on Yahoo Messenger.

It could be a coincidence but when I upgraded to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262 I can't seem to play any games on Yahoo Messenger with my friends. I know when I updated for some reason I had to try 3 times before it took it. It shows it's updated. I'm wondering if I have to un-install and re-install it. Also, I never use Internet Explorer 8 but when I went in there to check I found a plug in check link there and it showed over there that Adobe Flash Player needed updating but it was an older version and not the one Foxfire had me update too. Now I'm really confused if this is causing a problem. I have never had to check Internet Explorer for plug ins before. Have always just updated in Foxfire since that's what I use. The Adobe Flash Player seems to play videos okay so not really sure if that's the issue or not. My Java plug-ins have been fine and have been updated awhile ago, so I know it's not that. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Well, after hours of trying to figure it out I gave up and un-installed and re-installed that last verion of Adobe Flash Player and now it seems I can play games again in Messenger. Everything else had been fine just that. I can only figure it was because it was having a hard time updating the first time and took me 3 tries. So even though it said it was installed, apparently it wasn't done correctly.
Though when I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first I looked and checked to see all the things were enabled that were supposed to be and they were.
I even tried to go to the Adobe site and download the last version I had and couldn't find it. Kept coming up with the new version. Others said if you download a particular older version it may not have all the security features in it.
This really gets to be a bit much, especially when you're by yourself and have only a smattering of knowledge of technical things.
Thanks fore responding to my question.

  • Flash Player 11.3.300.262 Not working with Firefox. I think I found the problem.

*Flash Player 11.3.300.262 is not working with Firefox. I think I found the problem.*
Millions of people got off work & turned on there computers recently to discover that Firefox is not playing any videos or flash content. Just like me, millions of people are randomly searching the internet in a futile & frustrating attempt at answers. Unfortunately, many of those people will simply stop using firefox & deem it a glitchy, unreliable browser.
This happened to me a couple days ago. I started up my computer & got a pop-up from Adobe saying that I need to update my flash player to 11.3.300.262. I've always thought of adobe as being a reliable software company, so I clicked on it with confidence that things will be working even smoother. To my horror, I relalized that right after the update, my main browser, firefox was destroyed. Then I went on the frustrating process of uninstalling, re-installing, running virus scan, researching the internet like a lost child. I said to myself, "that's why I hate updating stuff, because updates always seem to change stuff you don't want it to change & there always seems to be a problem with the updates." I usualy update software months after it releases, because microsoft & all the other software companies always seem not to test there stuff properly before releasing them. Then we have to look at a glitchy computer until the next update fixes it. Well, that is my rant. Now let me discuss the problem I found.
    Problem:
What I did was, go into my firefox extentions menu & I disabled the 11.3.300.262 & I re-enabled the previous flash player. After that, everything worked perfect again. Then a today (a week later), I turned on my computer & my firefox wasn't playing any videos or flash content again. I went into my firefox extenions menu again, & I discovered that my old flash player had been deleted, & this new glitchy 11.3.300.262 had been enabled. Why did adobe feel the need to into my computer & automaticly delete & update my flash player. Now it doesn't work. THIS IS REALY FRUSTRATING!
    The Issue I discovered:
"RealPlayer" is the most popular video program & it is installed on millions of computers. For some strange reason Firefox does not want its users to use Real Player. Specifically the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2. I also discovered that my Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2 was automatically disabled when the Adobe 11.3.300.262 was automatically updated also.
    - Maybe this could be because of some copyright conspiracy to keep people from downloading videos from the web.
    - Maybe firefox wants people to use there download add-on instead of RealPlayers downloader.
I don't know what ther reason is. But what I do know is Nobody is going to delete there RealPlayer from there computer just to use FireFox. We can simply use Chrome or Internet explorer. I took the advise from Adobe & disabled the FireFox RealPlayer Extention. I also went into my RealPlayer preferences options, But there was no option to disable download recording from FireFox. BECAUSE I ALREADY DISABLED THE ADD-ON in FireFoxes menu.
    Solution:
Step 1: Adobe needs to update all the computers with the previous flash player. That way we can choose to enable the previous flash player in our FireFox. or wait until a new update fixes the problem with firefox.
Step 2: Adobe & FireFox need to get together & go back to the drawing board. They need to create a update that actually works on computers that have Real Player installed on them. I don't care which company does the update. All I care about is if it works. Thank You.
Oh yea, Im running FireFox 13.0.1, Windows 7, HP computer, Real Player is up to date.

    Hey Chris,
I was able to duplicate this issue on my Windows 7 laptop as follows:
         1)  Completely uninstall FlashPlayer (using your tool) as well as Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service (used Windows 7 - uninstall from Control Panel).  Please note that I checked the box that said "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" to ensure that Firefox was completely gone from my laptop.
         2)  I then went out to the Firefox website and downloaded the "Firefox Setup 13.0.1.exe" app to my laptop.  I ran this app to install Firefox.
         3)  I then went to the following website http://www.ishmael.org.uk/karaoke02.php as I know that this URL uses Flash Player (obviously you can go to any URL that uses Flash Player - I'm just letting you know which one I used).  I then clicked on the icon on this page to install Flash Player.
Once the install was completed, the URL stops responding and appears to be locked up (although it will occassionally hiccup and display portions of the page and then lock up again).  You will eventually get a pop-up notice from Firefox that has the header "Warning:  Unresponsive script" and says the following:
A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding.  You can stop the script now, or you can continue to to see of the script will complete.  Script:  chrome://browser/content/browser.js:6551
Selecting "Stop script" will get Firefox working until you hit another page that uses Flash Player.
To ensure that the above URL is not the culprit, I used one from your website http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html and had the same results.
    Hope this info helps!
    Jeff
NOTE:  As a reminder, I do not have RealPlayer installed on my laptop (and never have had it installed)

There are some compatibility issues between the latest Flash player and some Firefox add-ons or settings. If you end up trying Flash 11.3 again, can you see whether disabling smoothing scrolling helps with the display problem?

  • What is the problem with Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.257?

I tried to update to Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.257 using FireFox. I get the screen that says "initializing" and that seems to go okay. I am then shown the screen that asks me how I want to handle updates. I choose notify me. Then the download starts. It completes 47% and then I get a message that says Timed Out. Adobe does not seem to have any solutions. I downloaded it fine on Internet Explorer. FF is the only problem

Currently, I don't have any version of Flash installed as a plug-in on Firefox.
On Internet Explorer, I downloaded the 11.xxx - no problem.
The previous version of Flash for Firefox was 10.3.xxx - I was using that until I went to a frequently visited website and it prompted me to update to the latest version.
    I began the download.
First thing I saw was the installer started "Initializing." That stopped and then I was ask to select an update method (automatic, notify me, no update). I selected Notify Me. I clicked Next and then download and install started. It stopped at 47% and gave me a Timed Out message. It then said that it was unable to install. I turned off my antivirus software etc. No luck. No message that I can find indicates that it is getting blocked.
One of the suggestions I read was that, if the 11.xxx version did not download and install, then I should uninstall the earlier versions. I did this. Still no success. The problem continues.
Bing Maps: That has been going on for about one year. I cannot get any search results if I type in a location. The map appears for a brief second and then disappears. It is like it is getting blocked but I cannot figure out how. It does not happen on IE. I was using Firefox on Bing maps fine - this was an overnight change.

  • GPO Script Silent Install of Flash Player 11.3.300.265

    Hello,
I am trying to run a script that will uninstall older versions of Flash and then install Flash Player 11.3.300.265 (both the active x control and the plugin for Firefox).  The script runs on computers running both XP (SP3) and Windows 7.  My test machine is a Windows 7 machine.
The problem I am encountering is that the uninstaller runs successfully but the other .exe files do not run and install.  I installed old versions on my test machine and the new Flash unistaller successfully uninstalls them.  Then the script/installation gets hung up.  Here is a copy of the script:
    @echo off
REM This script runs in the login script. It checks to see if the computer has ran the script before by checking the logs directory for the computer name. If it hasn't ran before it continues on to uninstall any old versions of flash player and install whatever version is sitting in the 10.0 directory.
REM To push out latest version of flash player put the latest version in the 10.0 directory and delete all the computer.txt files out of the logs directory.
    set server=leejsp-fs2
    if exist "\\leejsp-fs2\syncnet\Adobe_Flash_Player\logs\%computername%.txt" goto end
    echo Flash Player install started on %date% %time% from %server% >> "\\leejsp-fs2\syncnet\Adobe_Flash_Player\logs\%computername%.txt"
    echo.
    echo Removing Flash Player...
    "\\%server%\syncnet\Adobe_Flash_Player\uninstall_flash_player.exe" -uninstall
    echo.
echo Installing Flash Player for Internet Explorer...
    "\\%server%\syncnet\Adobe_Flash_Player\10.0\install_flash_player_11_active_x.exe" -install -au0
    echo.
echo Installing Flash Player for Firefox...
    "\\%server%\syncnet\Adobe_Flash_Player\10.0\install_flash_player_11_plugin.exe" -install -au0
    echo Flash Player install finished on %date% %time% from %server% >> "\\leejsp-fs2\syncnet\Adobe_Flash_Player\logs\%computername%.txt"
    :end
The parameters I am using were found in the 11.3 Admin Guide.  I have also tried the install without the "-au0" parameter with no success.  When I manually run the files they install perfectly fine on the machine.  I have also tried running the script with out the uninstaller to see if the executables would install but that did not work either.
Last note: this script worked perfect with Adobe Flash 10.3 so all I did was update the file and change the file name (and parameters).
What could be going wrong??  Please, any help on this would be amazing.  I am very frustrated at this point.

    Pat,
    Thanks for the response.
I poorly described the script "hanging".  It does not hang up, it does complete.  It "completes" because the last line of text for the logs lists that the script finishes (ex: Flash Player install finished on Thu 07/26/2012  9:15:18.95 from leejsp-fs2).  However, Flash is not installed.  This tells me that the script is executing as well as the first command to uninstall older versions of Flash but the next two commands to install Flash Active X and the Flash Plugin are not.
Here is the FlashInstall.txt from my test machine.  It is just a snipet of the whole log but acccurately shows the issue.  It is a bit long.  Thanks for any assistance!

  • Flash player 11.3.300.257 plays video too fast

    Hi
I have just updated to the lastest version of flashplayer 11.3.300.257.  Now, all vidoes in youtube and bbc iplayer etc that use flashplayer run very fast and without sound (just like fast forwarding x4).
I am on Windows Vista Business Edition (all updates included)
    Browser is IE9.
I have tried a clean reinstall of flash player a number of times but same issue.
I have cleared caches and deleted all history etc via the advanced section of the software.
I have also removed the hardware acceleration.  Nothing has helped.
However, if i run in "safe mode" it seems to run at the correct speed.  I have uninstalled all recent software updates (such as skype) but still the issue remains.  Is it likely to be a conflict issue?
I have tried to install a previous version of flashplayer from the archives page but get an error message 1722.
    Can anyone help?
    Nigel

For my reference, here's the bug:
https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3217331 - Flash player 11.3.300.257 plays video too fast
In order to get traction on this, they're going to need to be able to reproduce it.
It would be great if you could do two things:
    - Provide direct links to a couple videos that reproduce this problem.
If they're on different sites, and based in the US, even better.  (Geographic restrictions make it hard to troubleshoot.  We can VPN, but that can mask/introduce network and timing problems.)
    - Provide the output of dxdiag.exe

  • Flash Player 11.3.300.257 has issues with Firefox 13

Yesterday I did a speedtest on http://speedtest.ziggo.nl. My download value was the same as my upload value so I contacted my provider to see if there was a problem. Discovered myself that the problem wasn't my internet connection but the update of Flash Player I did some hours earlier. On Internet Explorer and Chrome I get normal download values when I do a speedtest, but on Firefox the download value is the same as the upload value. Also I get a lot of 'Flash Player is crashing' popup windows.
I use Firefox 13 on Windows x64. Updated to Flash Player 11.3.300.257.
I uninstalled Flash using Adobe's uninstaller and installed a previous version (11.2) and everything was working fine again. I got normal download and upload values when doing above speedtest. When I updated to 11.3.300.257 again, the download value was as low as the upload value again and besides that a lot of Flash error popups again.
So apparently the Flash Player 11.3.300.257 plugin for Firefox has a serious bug of some kind?

    Hey Chris,
I was able to duplicate this issue on my Windows 7 laptop as follows:

  • Flash Player 11.3.300.265 Crashes when paused video/stream loses focus to a different firefox window

Whenever I have a video or stream in fullscreen and paused and I try and use my other screen for firefox, it will crash.
I have the latest update of flash player (11.3.300.265) & firefox (13.01, also tried 14.0 beta)
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I have hardware acceleration disabled in both firefox and flash.

    Hi,
I had the same. Adobe blamed RealPlayer for the bug but that's not true. It's the protected mode. You have to turn it off via editing a file manually.

  • Error 0x6BA when installing Flash Player 11.3.300.270

I am deploying Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.270 via an .msi file to a number of computers running Windows XP, Vista, and 7.
In all cases, Flash Player installs properly on the PCs.  In a few cases, the installation reports an error 0x6BA.
    Here are my questions:
    1) What does error 0x6BA mean?
    2) Why am I receiving this error, even when Adobe Flash Player has installed successfully?
