Adobe Flash player keeps crashing and locking up my PC. Can I go back to an earlier version.

Yes, please see these faqs for details:
How do I report a Flash Player crash to Adobe?
How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?

I installed Adobe Flash Player 11.7.700.224 (OS Windows 7 (64-bit)) and now, each time I try to see a video, my computer crashes

I have checked the graphic drivers and they are up to date.

  • Flash Player 11.7.700.224 and Total Defense Internet Security Suite

I'm using flash player 11.7.700.224.  I've uninstalled it (there were no old versions) and reinstalled it many times.  Movies won't load in YouTube unless I put https in front of the address.  I've done everything Adobe suggests doing with caches, etc.  Also, Internet Explorer 10 keeps crashing when I try to use it.  I've read in one place that the problem is with Total Defense Internet Security Suite (version 7).  Anyone have any suggestions?

When I did what you suggested, the videos start to load -- I see about 3 seconds or so and then I get a
"video player error" message on a black screen.  I tried 5 different videos with the same result; some played a few seconds longer than the others.  I also upgraded to Firefox 22, but that seemed to have no effect on anything with this.

  • Is Flash Player 11.7.700.224 really compatable with Windows Vista 64-bit?

I ask this question because under System Requirements, Window Vista 64-bit isn't listed.  I've inserted the link for the system requirements below...
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/tech-specs.html
I'm trying to figure why my Flash Player disappears from time to time when I'm watching a clip/video and then my Internet Explorer 9 typically stops working, it closes down, and then it opens up and asks me if I want to restore the browsing session.  I'm thinking that this has to do with having both Internet Explorer 9 32-bit and 64-bit.  I read online that Internet Explorer 9 has both and this is why I'm questioning whether Flash Player 11.7.700.224 might be contributing to this issue or was Window Vista 64-bit left off the system requirements in error?
    Thanks!

Try using the installers from the links in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550
P.S. topic moved to the Installation section of the forum.

  • Adobe Flash Player 11.7.700.169 Continously Crashes/Locks Up PC with Firefox & Windows 7

I'm really tired of this.   If I go back to a prior version of Flash everything works fine.   Your new version locks up my pc, I get "Adobe Flash Player has crashed, reload the page"
Why is this version such a horrible mess?  I have to open up Task Manager and consistently  End the Plug in process.
Then the only way to watch videos is to uninstall the latest version and go back to Flash 10 where everything works fine.
You KNOW this is a problem with a lot of people.  Please fix it.  I keep clicking on the link for Send Crash report.

I'm sorry you're going through this.  I suspect you might be running into a conflict with our Protected Mode which was introduced in Flash Player 11.4.  Please try the troubleshooting steps outlined in this FAQ:
How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?
In particular, I'd recommend temporarily disabling protected mode (for troubleshooting purposes only) to see if that addresses the issue.
In addition, could you go to "about:crashes" in Firefox's address bar and copy some of the most recent report id links into a reply?

  • Windows 8 + IE10 + Flash Player 11.7.700.224 = ???

    Hello all.
I've read uncountable pages so far, but none of them could represent the issue I am facing.
The investigation goes with the following sequence of installation:
    1. Clean Windows 8 x64 OS
    2. Updated VGA driver
    3. Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 8 x64-based systems (KB2847928)
    4. Set IE10 to use "desktop mode" only
After proceeding this way, when checking Flash Player "about page":
When opening "Flash Player (32-bit)" in Control Panel:
    In IE10 Add-ons Manager:
When browsing, it is possible to open Flash content withou problems.
The only annoyance is the ActiveX control is not recognized by the settings manager at all.
This is so obvious, since the application looks for the plug-in instead, as if there were no ActiveX in the system.
Is the ActiveX now "hidden" after the most recent update so that users do not mess around, or is this behaviour somehow awkward?

When I did what you suggested, the videos start to load -- I see about 3 seconds or so and then I get a
"video player error" message on a black screen.  I tried 5 different videos with the same result; some played a few seconds longer than the others.  I also upgraded to Firefox 22, but that seemed to have no effect on anything with this.

  • How to find out WHY Flash Player 11.2.202.236 plugins crash in Firefox ESR 10.0.6 on 64-bit Linux

Flash crashes dozens of times a day and I am trying to figure out WHY.
I have the recommended latest player & browser for my operating system.
The only diagnostic information I have is that the crashes seem to occur when a few tabs are open with videos loading in them and when any one video is closed, flash then locks up the browser for about 30 seconds, and then ALL the videos that were loading in separate tabs are dumped & say that the plugin crashed.
Details about the system from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
    1. Flash player version: 11.2.202.236
    2. Operating System: Linux 2.6.32-279.2.1.el6.x86_64 (64-bit)
    3. Browser: Firefox Firefox ESR 10.0.6
This is the correct set of components.
Debugging, I've modified the about:config dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs to any value of 10 seconds to 45 seconds (the default), but it doesn't seem to make a difference in the number of crashes.
Any idea how to get more diagnostic information?

Unfortunately, there's nothing in "/var/crash" after the numerous flash crashes so I'm not sure where to look next.
    The 'dmesg' command reports:
    npviewer.bin[16884]: segfault at 340 ip 00007f26bda22ab0 sp 00007fffa8abbe78 error 6 in libflashplayer.so[7f26bd68d000+1179000]
Bringing up the CentOS 6 "Applications->System Tools->System Monitor", I see the numerous Flash crashes appear to have some relationship with "npviewer.bin", which uses the "/usr/lib64/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so" shared object module and which has numerous "open files", one of which is "/home/<username>/.xsession-errors".
Looking at "/home/<username>/.xsession-errors", we find these lines, which may be useful.

  • Flash Player 9.x and 10.x crashes Mozilla Firefox 5.x and 6.x

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit with 8GB of RAM and plenty of hard drive space.
I've been unable to visit any Web site with Mozila Firefox 5.x and now 6.x that has Flash content. Previously I had Flash Player 9.x and it was updated on August 13, 2011 to version 10.3.183.5.
I've manually disabled ALL plugins and determined that if I enable only the Shockwave Flash 10.3.183.5 plugin and visit a site that uses Flash content, such as http://www.native-instruments.com, Firefox will instantly crash and present me with the Mozilla Crash Reporter.
I do not have this issue with Internet Explorer 9.x or Google Chrome 13.x.
Other than the long, involved procedure involving the Backdoor.Ulrbot.C virus that Mozilla Support describes, are there any other suggetions you might have.
    Thanks very much.

    Well, according to http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode,
You can elect to make the following changes:
Disable all add-ons: If you select this box and then click Make Changes and Restart then Firefox will start back up in its normal mode, except all your  extensions, themes, and plugins will be disabled (not uninstalled).
So how can Flash Player plugin run in Firefox Safe Mode if it's a plugin and it's disabled?
I've already determined that Flash Player is the problem by having it as the only add-on (plugin) that's enabled. All other extensions and plugins except for Firefox are disabled. My theme is the default one.
The site I visit doesn't matter, if it has Flash content on the page I'm visiting Firefox instantly crashes.

  • Re: Flash Player 11.3.300.257 Keeps Crashing On Mozilla Firefox 13

I want to know if the dev team has tested out my issue.  When you load the game Lineage 2 in windowd mode, then firefox and flash site like youtube, it will 100% of the time freeze solid firefox.  This is easily eproducable and you need to get touch with NCSOFT about this and fix it.  The game is free and u don't need an account to make this issue happen.  Just install lineage 2 www.lineage2.com and runt he launcher app then load lineage 2.  When the logon box pops up this is the death point.  Press alt+ enter fopr windowed mode.  Run firefox and a flash site.  BOOM.  Totaly frozen.
I think the GAMEGUARD anticheat system included with this game is somehow interacting with the new flash somehow.  So work with gameguard and ncsoft to get this fixed.
I expect a follow up on this issue as I have already stated this about 1 month earlier with no response.

Thank you Duhmez,I have followed the instructions at
    http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes
Hopefully this will work with Firefox...then I will try Chrome & I.E. 9 to
see if I have similar issues....thanks for your response...Doc

  • Flash player 12.0.0.77 keeps on crashing every 2 minutes

Flash player 12.0.0.77 keeps on crashing on every browser I have ( Opera, Chrome, Firefox) every 2 minutes when you are watching video or loading something flash based. It has gotten worse because it crashes almost instantly and I did try to reinstall it a couple of times. Even cleared registry to make a fresh macromedia folder but the same problem occurs.I am really dependant on flash player because most of my online tests use it. I have Windows 7 64bit and it used to work fine until recent update. Thanks for any solutions in advance.

    Best I can recommend is:
    Download the following:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    Flash Player Uninstaller
    Also, download these:
    Shockwave Player Uninstaller
Shockwave Player 112 FULL installer (ther browsers)
You'll need to install Shockwave with the FULL installer for IE too, but there isn't a direct download for it. You'll need to go to: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/ using IE AFTER everything else is done.
Save all the files and close your browser.
Run the uninstallers first (both of them)
    Go to: C/Windows/System32
    Delete the Macromed folder.
    Go to: C/Windows/SysWOW64
    Delete the Macromed folder.
Open your Registry Editor (Start>Run or press the Windows key + R and type 'regedit' [minus the quotes] and click OK)
In the Registry Editor, go to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE
Delete the Macromedia folder (Right click and choose "Delete").
    Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software and delete the Macromedia folder there too.
Close the Registry Editor and empty your recycle bin.
Run the Flash Player installers, and then the Shockwave FULL installer you downloaded.
Lastly, open IE and go to: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/ to download and install the Shockwave FULL installer for ActiveX (IE).

  • Flash Player 11.7.700.169 crashing when trying to connect Webcam in Adobe Connect 11.2 r261

    Hello,
I hope someone can help me. I discovered this week that I cannot connect my webcam to Adobe Connect anymore. The latter will stop working. If I uninstall Adobe Connect add-in I have the same problem but this time only the flash player crashes.
I tried Firefox 20.1 (latest release), have all the updates  on the Windows 7 Professional (x64), the latest Flash (as you see), the latest Adobe Connect Add-In and the Website runs Adobe Connect 9 as far as I know.
The webcam is working with other software (like skype or on Silverlight). Windows claims that the drivers für the webcam are up-to-date.
I tried to roll back changes on the computer (DELL Latitude E6410 if this is of relevance), installed an older version of Flash etc. etc. No change in the behaviour....
I found some discussions where an xsplit(something) was the problem. I have no xsplit installted.
There logs were asked for. Where do I find these?
I really hope that someone can help me since I need to work with this machine and with the AConnect in several projects. Webcam would really be a treat!
    Best,
    Konwill

    Hello Chris and Sameer,
thank you for getting back on this issue.
    To answer your questions first:
    - no, I have not posted this issue in the connect forums - I will do and point to this discussion
    - Sameer, I have tested the webcam on the website you pointed out, it is not working with Firefox but it is working in Chrome
I also need to give you an update on the current versions I use:
Win 7 Pro (64bit) (all updates included)
    Firefox 21.0
    IE 10.0.9200.16576
    Chrome  26.0.1410.64 m
    Flash Player 11.7.700.202
    Adobe Connect Addin 11.2 r261
I tested the webcam via FP with Firefox, IE and Chrome in the versions mentioned above. Only in Chrome I can run the WebCam on the www.testwebcam.com website. Once I start the adobe connect meeting and want to start the webcam the Connect Addin stops working with the popup as shown in post 3 of this discussion in all three browsers.
All components have been uninstalled and installed again (except for IE)  for testing with no change in the result. I have also rolled back the computer to the system recovery point furthest back in time to see if any other installation might be the cause. But no luck either.
I am happy to post the logs but would need advise where to find these or how to retrieve.
    Thanks!
    Konwill
