Flash Player bug still not fixed yet ?
I had to do a system restore to get back to a working version
of adobe flash player - i put up with no flash for a week, but my
sister thinks I've downloaded a bug onto her machine because there
is obviously something up with this latest version of flash.
it says it's successfully installed, shows the little moving
picture etc. then you go on to myspace or jibjab or anything cool
with flash in it and it doesn't work.
Like I said I've had to use a system restore for the first
time in years as I guessed it was a flash bug pretty quick as I
monitor my updates.
Anyone know if adobe are ackwoledging & fixing this bug ?
- it would be handy to know when it is safe to install the latest
flash player that works.
I'm not a techie so have no intention of poking inside my
machine or it's settings - just wierd how adobe haven't told
website that use the product that services may be affected - so
they can warn customers not to download the latest player until
adobe have fixed the problem! The same thing happened to me. I've tried so many things -
but nothing works.
Just like you, I download flash, it installs successfully -
it seems - then I go to other sites and it doesn't work anymore.
Now I have to install flash everytime before I open up my browser,
then it works for a website or two - then it fails again.
Is this happening to anyone else?
I have a brand new Mac intel 15 inch laptop - newest
operating software.
I have all my updates, etc,... updated & this is
ridiculous.

When I view flash video on the BBC news site, I can only see bottom left 1/4 of BBC flash video in Safari.
Opening another tab and then zooming out and in seems to correct it. But anoying though. Anyone else getting this? Might be a retina display issue with flash player.

Hi,
If you are using the Adobe Flash Player make sure you update to Adobe Flash Player 10.1.82.76 ([released by Adobe on August 10th 2010|https://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-16.html]).
As well as having the latest security fixes this update also fixes the Adobe Flash Player bug that stopped Xcelsius SWFs from working when you embedded them into a PPT: https://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-16.html
FYI: Xcelsius is based on Adobe Flex and this bug also affected any Adobe Flex based SWF that was embedded into a PPT not just Xcelsius.

Flash Player 10.2 Bug Resolved by ChessCube
Flash 10.2 is a key part of the Adobe move towards a faster lightweight flash that leverages hardware acceleration. Early indications are that performance is massively enhanced. Flash is also on a critical path to get onto Android and other devices. This is something we at ChessCube are very excited about and support.
Immediately after the release of Flash Player 10.2, ChessCube noticed that users’ Adobe plug-in was crashing. It was particularly bad for our Chrome browser customers as Chrome automatically updates users to the latest version of Flash under the hood.
Further reading and the fix here:
http://blog.chesscube.com/flash-player-10-2-bug-resolved-by-chesscube/Pat's analysis is absolutely correct: this is an issue for Flash developers (I doesn't look like the usage of Flex is relevant for the reproduction case), not for Flash Player users. As such, this post is definitely in the wrong place in a forum aimed at end-users trying to use the Flash Player.
If you want to post this issue on the forums, please do so in one of the developer forums under http://forums.adobe.com/community/flash/ or http://forums.adobe.com/community/flex/.
However, from the looks of it this is a genuine bug in the Flash Player so the absolute best place to report this issue is in the Adobe bugtracker: http://bugs.adobe.com/ In the mean time I concur that any ActionScript developer experiencing crash issues with switch statements should have a good look at the reproduction case and should be able to adapt his code to circumvent this Flash Player bug.
PS I trashed most abuse reports for this thread for now, but please keep it cicvil. -
Adobe flash player does not load statistics on Google Public Data
Adobe flash player does not load statistics on Google Public Data and displays a white page. However If I put the same URL in an other browser the page loads seamlessly. Is it a Firefox or a Adobe flash player bug ?
I looked on the Google Public Data site, but couldn't find any Flash videos.
Can you provide a link where you say the problem is occurring? -
Flash player problem: surroundings on flash player window
i just installed firefox 4.0 beta and have been experiencing a rather annoying problem. when i scroll down a page with flash, then the writing around the flash area will become part of the flash. it's hard to explain, so i've attatched pictures to show you what i mean. please note that this issue was present in google chrome, too, but not as severe.
i'm running windows 7 64 bit
mozilla firefox 4 beta
latest flash 10.1The purpose of beta software is to find potential problems. You have just found one, and you should report it back to the beta team.
If you think it is a Flash Player bug, report it at https://bugs.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If Flash Player works fine on the release version of Firefox, then I suggest that you reinstall that version. -
Flash Player and Browser Communication
According to this article:
http://blog.dannypatterson.com/?p=133
Compressed data (gzip files) being sent from the server are
unzipped by the browser before being passed to Flash Player -
therefore there is no need to write separate action script classes
to deal with the data.
I am getting conflicting reports from other developers saying
that the Flash player communicates directly with data coming from
the server with no stop at the browser level. According to them,
you must write actionscript classes to decompress the data.
Who is right? If you want to report Flash Player bug, right location is here. If you report ActionScrit bug, JIRA is right place though.
By the way I belive this is not bug but expected behavior. I'll follow up more info in Flash Player forum: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/920682?tstart=0

Captivate Project Information window on Flash player
I published a Captivate Project as an executable file for
Macintosh. When I click on the SWF file, it opens up in the Flash
player, and not in my browser. Also, the Project Information window
does not go away, even when I click on the close button. Some of
the buttons on the navigation bar don't work either, like Exit and
Forward. Has anyone come across this problem? The purpose of beta software is to find potential problems. You have just found one, and you should report it back to the beta team.

8/2/2012 - Flash Player 11.3 Update
Today, Flash Player 11.3.300.270 for Windows was released to address a crash that was occurring in the Adobe Flash Player Update Service (FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe). There are no other fixes or changes provided with this build. This release is available for Windows only, and affects the Active X and Plug-in installers, uninstaller, and msi's (available on the distribution page.) No other platforms are affected.
Please be aware that this release is not available from the Product Download Center (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer) which will continue to provide 11.3.300.268. We realize that this might cause confusion for some users. Due to the severity of this issue, we decided to make this build available immediately to help customers affected by this bug. Due to logistical issues and time constraints, we were unable to update the release on the Product Download Center. The next release of Flash Player will correct this disparity. Please note that unless you have been affected by the FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe crash, both 11.3.300.270 and 11.3.300.268 will be functionally identical.
This release will be distributed using the following methods:
Silent auto update - If enabled and functional, the silent auto update service will automatically install this build within 24 hours.
Direct download - You can download the installers directly using the links below
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-In (All other browsers)
Flash Player Distribution page for distribution license agreement holders

For full details on the 11.3 release, please see our release notes.
For those encountering problems with Flash Player, please see this tech note for suggestions and instructions on reporting Flash Player bugs
Report a Flash Player Crash
Firefox users crashing with Flash Player 11.3 who are willing to assist us in determining the cause of the crashes, please download and install the Firefox 15 beta release and submit all crash reports when they occur. Crash logs created and submitted with Firefox 15 will allow us to gather critical details that are missing from the current crash reports that are being generated with Firefox 13 and 14 and earlier versions.
We would also like to encourage anyone running into issues with 11.3 to install the 11.4 beta release and let us know if the issues have been resolved.Grandmjr wrote:
when I go to my control panel it shows I have the version for 32 bit player.
You mean the Flash Player Settings Manager in Control Panel? That is just a 32-bit applet; the installer will automatically install both 32-bit and 64-bit Flash Players on 64-bit systems; check

I have been using NetConnection to implement record/playback feature in flash, but a lots of users recently complaint the flash player freezing the broswer randomly during the recording. so I did some investigation and found why the flash player hanging on the broswer.
it is because the flash player waiting a 'CLOSE_WAIT' tcp socket there forever.
tcp4 200 0 10.100.1.45.65508 158.205.xx.xx.80 CLOSE_WAIT
Background information:
os system: Darwin flash-iMac.local 9.8.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.8.0: Wed Jul 15 16:55:01 PDT 2009; root:xnu-1228.15.4~1/RELEASE_I386 i386
flash player version: You have version 10,2,152,26 installed
broswer: firefox3.6 (basically, other browsers have same problem)
so the issue is, the tcp socket connection will be closing by the peer, which just sent [FIN,ACK] to try close the socket, but the flash player have no intention to send [FIN, ACK] back to close the socket, I guess it might still want to send some data out, but even I invoked NetConnection.close method, the flash player has beening still hanging on there. so the funny thing is, if I unplug the network cable, the browser is able to wake up, I guess that is because the tcp socket is reset by RST, so the flash player catch the signal instead just stop there to wait something forever.
please guide me how I can solve this issue, it is obviously a flash player bug, whatever reason, you just cannot block the process forever. Here is the report of system when I force quit Firefox

Flash Player 9 and IE don't play nice
If you have a Flash movie with external calls, it crashes
when you try to navigate to another web page. You will receive an
'Out of Memory' error. This seems to be a problem with the way
Flash Player 9 handles the unload Handler when the web page's
javascript onUnload event is fired.
I have experiened this with both IE6 and IE7 RC1.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?I came accross the same problem.
As of today, the only source I could find that addresses the
issue is:
http://blog.deconcept.com/2006/05/18/flash-player-bug-streaming-content-innerhtml-ie/#comm ent-14544
but their solution doesn't appear to be working reliably enough. I
am still getting "Out of Memory at line:56" errors even when I use
the suggested workaround.
I hope that the next version of the Flash Player will include
a fix for this. -
A3000 flash player and camera issue...
I managed to get Adobe Flash Player installed onto my A3000, hoping to use it for Flash based chat rooms.
It now loads and operates Flash chat based rooms, however, when I try to use the video chat Flash says I have no camera.
ANyone know what I need to do and how to make it work?If you want to report Flash Player bug, right location is here. If you report ActionScrit bug, JIRA is right place though.
By the way I belive this is not bug but expected behavior. I'll follow up more info in Flash Player forum: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/920682?tstart=0
thanks,
Hitomi -
The three options for the end user seem clear: Embed,
Progressive Download, Stream.
But, my question is:
When a client previews a video from our website, at the same
video link is it possible to create an option to SAVE the video
onto a clients computer HI or LOW res, then they can have a copy of
the video to upload onto their own servers for whatever use they
need it for?
Will this require complex coding?Wierd..
I would recommend two things..
1. File a public bug in the Flash Player public bugbase. For
details, see:
"Introducing the Flash Player bug and issue management
system"

It seems the OSFM player streaming causes init problems for Flash Player in Linux
I've been running a number of tests with the MediaPlayerSprite. When the video is to be streamed via RTMP FlashPlayer10 Linux debugger hangs for quite a while before drawing anything to the stage. The problem lies in the OSFMplayer/FlashPlayer because if you do not add the player to the stage via addChild you can hear the video almost instantaneously. However once you addChild the Flash Player goes dead for about 15 secs at least before the stage items appear.
In addition if you set the MPS autoplay to false all your onstage assets appear, however once you click a the play button things freeze up before they stream. The workaround here is to wait about 15 secs before clicking the play button then streaming is instant ( on most occasions ). With non streamed media assets appear once the compile is done.
Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit / FlashBuilderThis sounds like a Flash Player (Linux) bug, as the addChild call wouldn't go through any OSMF code.
I did a quick search in the Flash Player bug database, and the only issue that looks similar is this one:

Recommend you file a bug with the Flash Player team. -
