Flash Player 9 (CS3) Arabic right-to-left (right to left) typing in input fields

Any input field (when typing arabic) should type right ot
left rather than left to right.
Does ANY version of flash/flash player support right-to-left
typing in arabic or any other right-to-left language.
I really urgently need an official answer saying yes or no.
I can see that flash supports arabic characters etc but as
far as I can see it does not support the right-to-left
typing.

These are user to user forums, and while the occasional Adobe
employee does float through, you won't get an official answer here.
But you already know the answer and it is, sadly, no.
I doubt this is something that will change with versions of
the Flash Player, more likely the whole next version of Flash. So
probably at least 1 to 2 years and even then I doubt they will
support it. Complex languages seem to be something that Adobe isn't
really all that interested in.
I'm currently trying to make a graffiti-style handwriting
recognition system for Hindi with Flash -- and it looks promising.
What are you trying to do?

  • Flash player not detected w/o admin rights

I've installed the latest version of the macromedia flash
player. I installed it under my profile with admin rights, If I
login as a user that does not have admin rights, the flash player
does not get detected. Any ideas? This works fine on other computer
in the network. The computer is running XP SP2.

I hate to reply to my own post, but I found the solution!! Actually I found a post from someone else who found the solution... I will detail it here in case someone else searches for it.
    Solution:
What happened was I went into IE and went to the Help/About Internet Explorer. When I did I got a strange Error 53 dialog box that came up. I searched the internet for this and came across this site: http://www.netsplore.com/PublicPortal/blog.aspx?EntryID=45.
Following the instructions on that site solved all the problems!
I hope this helps someone else...

  • Why is the user agreement for Flash Player in Arabic? Most of us can't read Arabic.

While awaiting the latest install of Flash Player, I decided to check out the user agreement:
It opens showing a page in Arabic
    It is 304 pages long
There is no obvious link to a table of contents
There is no question asking what language is preferred
I wonder whether or not this is so incompetently done that a reasonable jury would find that no user could be reasonably expected to have read or agreed to anything.
//The link goes to page 1 of the 304 page "Personal Computer Software License Agreement", which is in Arabic. After I had worked with it and found the table of languages, the next time I opened the document, it went to the last page I had open-- page 87, which is in English (United States).  I do not ask for it to detect my language, merely offer me a choice.

When I click that link, it goes (as it should from a U.S. IP Address) to the hyperlinked page 87, which is where the English portion begins.
Your browser or International settings may prevent it from doing so, but I have nine machines that ALL parse the link the same way.

  • Enable Flash Player in Mozilla Fire Fox without Admin Rights

    Hi,
I am from australia i have a question how do i enable flash player in my system without admin rights. at present there is no access to install software to my system. please help thanks in advance
    Regards
    John Burns

    Hi John,
Admin rights are required for installing Flash Player because it installs to a system-wide location which requires elevated permissions to write to.  Due to this, there is no way to install Flash Player without having Admin rights.   Since it writes to a system-wide location, any user on the machine with Admin rights can install Flash Player.

  • (still) Unable to install Flash Player update (process hang)

I haven't been able to install updates for Flash Player for over a year now. Ever since the website changed to the web-install package, i've been unable to update from the download page (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/). The file is downloaded successfully, i double click it, the security message pops up asking if i'm sure i'd like to run it (not UAC as i have that disabled -- i mean the somewhat uncommon Windows one when opening .exe files from the internet)...and then it hangs. Install_flashplayer shows up in the process list of task manager, and the file is moved to a temp location and subsequently deleted. That's it. I don't get the installation menu, nothing.
For some reason the only way i'm able to update is if i get the pop-up upon logging into my computer, telling me a new version is out, in which case it updates as expected. The problem is it sometimes takes MONTHS for this pop-up to finally appear, which means i'm left browsing the web with outdated (sometimes vulnerable) Flash components for the entire duration. On top of this, sometimes the pop-up won't simply update, but instead links me to the aforementioned site which does not work.
Any help? I've tried almost everything, including uninstalling my old version in preparation for a clean install of Flash. Nothing works. About a year ago i was able to use the offline archive instead, which worked a treat, but i can't access it anymore.
EDIT: should have included specs. I'm using Windows Vista 32bit, and i always make sure to keep everything updated. UAC is disabled, and running the installer in Admin mode has no effect. I'm using Firefox, and have ESET as my anti-virus.

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/  gets you the "Stub" installer.
    You need the following:
    Flash Player Uninstaller
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Right click each and "Save target as".
Save them to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN them yet.
    Reboot your PC.
BEFORE anything else, run the Uninstaller.
Then run the ActiveX installer, and the (other browser) installer.
Note: there are all FULL "offline" installers and uninstallers. They don't need to download anything else during the install process.

  • Flash player disappeared, re-downloaded it,

I know I'm not very computer smart, but this truly has me baffled...
I had a message come up today that there was an update for my flash player. I clicked on it, but not much happened. When I tried to open a website that required flash player I got the message that there was a plugin missing. I  didn't really know what I was looking for but I checked under applications, and flash player was nowhere to be found. I checked on the Adobe website, and apparently I don't have it on my computer anymore.
So, seeing that I have MAC OS X 10.5.8 I looked for the appropriate download (10.3.183.90), and as far as I was concerned downloaded it.
The "f" shows up at the bottom of my screen (next to Firefox, etc.), but some websites (like my own) still don't work, and on YouTube for instance, it says that "additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page".
    What does that mean?
Like I said - I am not joking when I say I do not have a clue what I am doing?
    HELP!!!

@Gems_ca: I had the same problem on an 2008 iMac and almost went nuts. Here is what worked for me, finally:
Instead of double clicking on the "Install Adobe Flash Player" icon in the .dmg folder, right-click (control-click) and select "Show Package Contents" from the resutling pull-down menu.
Then select the following file: (folder) / Contents / Resources / Adobe Flash Player.pkg
Double-click to open. It should open the installer app "Install Plugin" and will run after you click continue.
Be sure to uninstall or trash any other Flash Player downloads you have in your system; you should only have the one when you're through and when you click on Apple icon top left of your screen and go to System Preferences you should see the red Flash Player icon under Other. You may need to restart your system before you can play videos.
Your system might not have the exact same terms for everything but if you work around that you'll be able to have Flash Player again. It was said that Adobe wanted to make it difficult for people to stay out of date and that's why we have to do this weirdness.
Let me know if this works or if you'd already solved your problem?

  • Adobe Flash Player stops working whenever Flash or Rich Media content is loaded.  Can anyone help?

Whenever I launch a browser, I get a message telling me "Adobe Flash Player 11.5 r502 has stopped working."  Additional message says Data Execution Prevention has closed Flash Player.   I have tried all the applicable fixes suggested on the Flash Player help page (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-games-video-or.html).
Flash Player version: 11.5.502.135  and .146
OS: Vista Home Prem, sp2, 32-bit
Browser: Firefox 18.0 and IE 9
    Anyone else have this problem?

1st)    Click on the apple at the top left corner of your screen. Fourth option down, system preferences click this. Once system preferences opens up adobe flashplayer should be listed on the very bottom row, click this. Once adobe preferences are open make sure you are on the storage tab (listed accross the top), make sure "allow site to save information on this computer" is bulleted. Next click on the "local storage settings by site...". Once you click that, check to see if youtube.com is listed in the box. If not then click the + symbol at the bottom left. Manually enter www.youtube.com. Close out of everything.
2nd)    Launch safari, look to the very top left corner of your screen. You'll see the word "Safari" just to the right of the Apple logo, click on this and go down to preferences. Next, go to the security tab accross the top. Make sure there is a tick/check mark in the "Allow Plug-ins" option. If it is, click "Manage website settings...". Then on the left-hand column select Flash Player. Then off to the right-hand pane, make sure that youtube.com is listed and that its set to Allow. Quit and re-open Safari.
All of these steps or at least some portion of this should get it operational. If not, post back... more things we can do.

  • Flash Player 10 Stand-alone Slow in Fullscreen Mode

Hi, I have a project that has to run fullscreen (dont want to see border etc.. - but not necessary to scale)
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
    stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
when the project is running in this way - even with NO-scale it becomes really slow - as soon as I exit the fullscreeen state (pressing escape key) - the flash interactive demo runs much faster. _ I do use a large mp4 video (1280x720) in background with graphics on top - I am not scaling the stage at all though - just want black border around - Anyone had a issue with this???
Tried diff. settings with hardware on of etc...

did a bit more trawling around the web and found this solution if you still need it:
Fix: Turn off hardware acceleration in Flash Player settings.
    1. After launching your projector fullscreen, press the escape key to run in windowed mode (since the sluggish performance will also affect your flash player settings window).
    2. Right-click in the window and select "Settings..."
    3. Click on the Display tab (left-most tab).
    4. Uncheck "Enable hardware acceleration
    5. Close & restart your projector.
Don't know if this is related to video drivers, OS, hardware, etc. but this solution worked great for me.

  • Camera just up and stopped working with flash player. SUUUUPER annoying. Any ideas?

    Hi:
Windows XP SP3 32bit, latest updates applied
    Firefox 3.6.6 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET4.0E))
    IE 8.0.6001.18702
    Flash Player 10,1,53,64
HP EliteBook 8530w with built-in HP camera (brand spankin' new).
So Flash Player today decided it doesn't want to work with my webcam. I have pulled my hair out trying to figure out what the problem is. The camera works fine with other video camera software, such as Adobe Flash Live Encoder 3.1, for example, or the various Microsoft cam tools. But Flash Player just won't see it. When I visit a website that uses the camera through flash, all I get is a black box. I never get the privacy screen that asks me if I would like to allow the site temporary access to my camera. If i go into my settings, and go to the camera tab, it shows my camera device in the dropdown box. But you know how if you double-click the little box under the dropdown, it should activate your camera and display a little video inside that box? That doesn't work for me. All I get is this:
It doesn't matter if I use FF or IE. I've re-installed Flash Player, both the FF version and the Ax version. To no avail. I've logged into my computer as a different user, because hell maybe it's some weird dumb thing in the Flash Player cache or something. Nope.
Now here's the super, super, super annoying part: I just recently moved to this laptop and one of the things I was looking forward to was a computer where my webcam would FINALLY work with flash player again. Yes, that's right: my old computer had this exact same problem. And in both cases, at one point the camera worked with Flash player no problem, and then at some point, it just stopped working.
This makes me think, of course, that the problem is some nefarious piece of software I've installed, but I can't think of what that is. I know the camera was working with my new computer as early as last week. Recently I've installed a bunch of software, including Adobe Media Live Encoder 3.1, Flash Professional CS5, and the Adobe Connect add-in. I've uninstalled everything except CS5, because, hey, who wants to re-install that if they don't have to? I'll do that as a last result, but the guy sitting next to me has the entire CS5 suite installed and camera works fine for him with Flash Player (same exact hardware too), so I don't think it's that. Other than that, I dunno. I've got VS2008 and 2010 installed. GoToMeeting. Office. That's about it.
So. Any ideas? Any thoughts on how I could even start to debug the issue? Logging or something? Any help is much appreciated.

    Yes.
    Victory is mine.
    VICTORY IS MINE!!!
    Solution:
    Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg
    Set
    AVHardwareDisable=1
    to:
    AVHardwareDisable=0
Restart your browser. Done. Camera works now.
I really want to shout this solution from the rooftops, because try Googling the solution sometime. I did. I failed. You will too. Hopefully if I use some more 18-point bold font, Google will index it faster, because that's the way it works right?
I actually had no idea that Flash Player has a folder in Windows\system32 at all, and I definitely had no idea that this file existed. I am guessing some stinking app I installed decided I needed AVHardwareDisable set to 1 for some reason (effers). I found out about the location by just lazily searching through the windows registry for "Flash Player" and eventually saw it pointing to that directory. A little more poking around and I found this file.
Those of you who actively support this forum: please keep this in the back of your mind, next time someone has audio/video input problems with Flash Player. I've found an awful lot of forum posts from people with cameras not working, and I bet a good portion of them need this fix. Reinstalling Flash Player will not fix it. Here's hoping the solution comes up in Google for the next unlucky soul.

  • Flash Player 10.1 is not fully active after over 50 uninstalls and reinstalls.

About 2 weeks ago I started noticing this. I would load up Facebook games and it would take forever. Then, once it did finally load the images were gone and those strange java encoded images were in their place instead. My report log has no indication of crashes during this time, however in the last week I have had a getPlus+R stopped working, a GfxUI APPCRASH, and an HP Advisor APPCRASH. Also been getting many errors. The most recent when trying to reinstall Adobe DLM, I got "Firefox could not install at http://platform.adobe.com/NOS/getPlusPlus/1.6/gp.xpi download error 228".
When I do get to a facebook game it says that I do not have the updated version of the flash player, so I go and uninstall it, restart my computer, reinstall it, restart my computer and still get it. I have done this over 50 times and counting. I keep doing this because every once in a while the flash player does not act up for a couple hours, usually when I install a new browser to sort of "trick" it, I guess. It catches on though...cause today's browser was Opera and it worked great for about 2 hours, earlier in the week I tried safari with some success for about 4 hours. I'm gonna run out of browser options and my time with this trick only seems to get less and less hours from each time I do it.  I have cleared my cache hundreds of times during this process as well. I really do not understand how to check or set the flash player settings though. I would think that they would have a safe default though, because I never installed any adobe products when I got the computer, so I assume they came preinstalled and set properly. Also when I bought this laptop a couple months ago, I got that stupid Norton thing which would tell me to activate it every time I logged on so I said hell with it and activated the trial version just to make it go away. I did this about a week and a half ago and it seems that this is when everything really started to fall apart. There are so many things I have tried that I cannot even begin to list them all. I have downloaded so many other Adobe trials to see if they'll fix the problem, but I don't really even know how to use them or what they are really for. I should mention that I am using Windows 7 and connecting via wifi. I can browse the internet with no problems and watch youtube videos with no problems as well. For the most part, just those facebook games are affected by this. I think it killed some of my drivers though, because I went and downloaded a bunch of intel drivers and one actually flashed "GfxUI" for a moment while it was installing, and that was one of the crashes I got. I really don't know where else to go from here. I have Internet explorer but rarely use it. Kind of hopeless here. I really don't expect any possible solutions to this since no one else seems to be having the same problems. Most people can just uninstall it and reinstall it for it to be fixed in most forums. Well, I guess I'll check back and see if anyone has an answer before I take my computer back under it's supposed warranty.

Hi a, Glad you removed Norton. On Skype, go to Tools & Manage add ons. Find any add ons that pertain to
Skype and Disable them. Once these problems have been solved then you can always enable any that have been disabled.
Anytime you lose an Internet connection you will receive those kind of errors. Wireless connections are subject to a loss of signal. I would contact your Carrier and report them.
Any site or game that tells you to update Flash Player, ignore. You did the right thing going to Youtube. If that works, then disregard anything to the contrary. That site is having a problem, not you. Take care not to disrupt your Flash Player Installation!!
On Avast not being able to update would most likely be due to the loss of signal. That Avast updated 3 times is not unusual. That is just a sign of additional risks. I had Avast and during some periods that was done also. No problem.
While you are still in the process of removing programs and troubleshooting, if there are any add ons/plug-ins/extensions that are causing an issue, I would disable them. Once you have your troubleshooting done, then see about them.
On McAfee, didn't that Install with FP at one time? I think you removed that as I recall. You can refer to the instructions I gave you to remove it and make sure it is not there.
    Thanks,

  • Controlling autoupdate of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX with mms.cfg file

For several years we have suppressed Flash Player ActiveX from autoupdating by using the mms.cfg file, with the setting "AutoUpdateDisable=1" -- and it has worked without a problem.
With the constant updates of Flash Player for security reasons, we decided several months ago to change the autoupdate setting and allow Flash Player ActiveX to update automatically, without notifying the user, checking every seven days.  We changed the mms.cfg file to this:
    AutoUpdateDisable=0
    AutoUpdateInterval=7
    SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1
We are using Windows 7 64-bit, so the mms.cfg file was copied/updated to: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash, as well as C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
The problem we are randomly seeing across our 2500+ computers is a notification that a Flash Player update is available.  This is occurring on machines with the mms.cfg file in place.
Does anyone else have this same issue?  We were also wondering if the encoding of the file, i.e., ANSI or UTF-8, has any bearing on the effectiveness of this mms.cfg file. Or has a registry setting been updated overriding the mms.cfg?
We believe the file is encoded in UTF-8, but it is difficult to be 100% certain of this.
    Screenshot of the auto-update notification:

You're right, it sounds very malwareish, but they will know more in the Flash Player forum  http://forums.adobe.com/community/flashplayer . This is teh Adobe Reader forum. When you post there, a screen shot may help.

TWEAK DISCOVERED for Flash Player 10 to save local settings!!
    I was digging around in:
    ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/www.macromedia.com/bin/fpupdatepl/
    and I discovered:
    Adobe Flash Player.pkg
If you Right Click (or Control + Click) the Package and then select 'Show Package Contents' this will open a new window.
    Then navigate to:
    Contents/Resources/
There you will find a file:
    Adobe Flash Player.info
Open this file with text edit (or your app of choice)
On about the fourth line from the bottom look for:
    OverwritePermissions NO
    Change this to:
    OverwritePermissions YES
    A NOTE OF CAUTION
I have not fully tested this change, but did find that after I modified the local settings for the Flash Player, then restarted Safari that the settings remained the same.
    Good Luck!
