Flash Player 9 for Safari not plugging in

Hi,
I'm running OS 10.4.11 with Safari Version 3.1.1 (4525.18). I have downloaded the Adobe Flash Player 9 (latest version) for Mac and seemingly opened it and loaded it but every time I come to a website that uses Flash Player 9, it just says that I need to download the latest version. How can I sync it as a plug in for Safari? Or do I actually need a previous version of Flash?
Thanks for any advice!

This is what I found...
Shockwave Flash
Shockwave Flash 9.0 r124 — from file “Flash Player.plugin”.
MIME Type Description Extensions
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl
Also found this...
Shockwave Flash
Shockwave Flash 8.0 r22 — from file “Flash Player Enabler.plugin”.
MIME Type Description Extensions
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl
I'm not sure what the difference is between the two other than one is 8.0 vs 9.0 and one is enabler.plugin.

A Flash tip to help avoid security issues later: There are known scammer who fake a "Flash is out of date" pop-up that leads you to a site that installs malware or can compromise your private data. If you see a pop-up in FF saying you need to upgrade Flash, the only safe thing to do is go to this official Adobe site:
    https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
and follow the downloads instructions there. It will show the currently available version. You can quickly tell what version is on your computer by doing System Preference > Flash Player and selecting the "Updates" tab.
Do NOT choose to update Flash from any pop-up. Here are several articles with more info on the "Fake Flash" issue:
    http://www.thesafemac.com/?s=flash&submit=Search
Fake Flash pop-ups commonly contain grammatical or spelling errors. One common one is "Failure to install this update may cause your computer to crush." Using only the official Adobe site I linked plus checking your current version via System Preferences will avoid your having to figure out if a pop-up is fake.

Flash player about page (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) is showing the latest flash player as 11.3.300.255 for windows where as flash player download page is showing 11.2.202.235 fow download.

    Right now I don't even have a C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash folder or a C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash folder!

As a W2KP dying breed, I am building to the drop-dead (D-D) versions of available software for W2KP. For instance, my D-D version of Firefox is 12.0, my D-D version of Internet Explorer is IE SP1 (6.0.2800.1160CO) etc.
(Note: Drop-dead sofware is software that will not be updated/upgraded ever-again-ever for W2KP)
I do think that this is an install issue and could use your help. Perhaps, a W2KP only and 11.3.300.257 issue?
I will be studying it further with the notion:
    The hack referrred to in:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4465086#4465086
maybe? doesn't work for Adobe Flash player 11.3.300.257 Plug-in variey (for FF and other user agents (browsers)?
Again, the ActiveX variety of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.257 INSTALLED fine using the hack and seems to RUN fine with IE SP1 on W2KP. So... it's a bit weird.
Will someone verify that the hack is doable for the plug-in var. If not, the W2KP D-D version of Adobe Flash Plug-in variety software is apparently gonna be Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.235.
    TIA
    Dennis

Ziatron is correct that Flash does not work on an iPad, but it does work on a Mac. See Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.160.

  • Why can't I install the latest version of Flash Player?  I have all plug-ins allowed.

Why can't I install the latest version of Flash Player?  I have all plug-ins allowed.

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    a. If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then select the Security tab in the Safari preferences window. In the list of plugins on the left, there should be one—and only one—entry for "Adobe Flash Player," showing the same version number that you installed. Select that entry. On the right there will be a list of websites for which you have specifically allowed Flash, if any. It's normal for the list to be empty. Below that is a menu labeled
              When visiting other websites
From that menu, select either Allow or Ask.
    b. If you still get the alerts, then go back to the Flash Player preference pane and select the Advanced tab. Click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    c. If the alerts still persist, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
              Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
              Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
              Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • Install Flash Player 9 for OSX

I’ve installed Flash Player 9 for OSX and it
doesn’t seem to work. I’m not experiencing anything
similar to previous threads. I don’t get any errors and the
installation seems to go fine but when I return to any site that
requires Flash Player 9 it tells me that I need to install the
latest version, which I’ve done. I’ve even uninstalled
and then reinstalled with the same result. Did I miss something
    here?

I have been having the same problem since installing Leopard.
I have tried suggestions from others:
there are no browsers running when I install Flash Player
I have repaired permissions (both before and after
    installing)
    I have uninstalled before reinstalling
None of these work. I am unable to view Flash content in

and have had no previous problems with the Flash player on this
    machine.

You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25, 10.3.x beta, or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.
