Flash Player 9 No Longer Supported

As of February 8, 2011 Flash Player 9 is no longer supported. Adobe will no longer provide security updates for Flash Player 9 and recommends that all Flash Player users on supported systems upgrade to the most recent version of the player through the Flash Player Download Center.
Details here:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406791.html
The latest version of Adobe FLASH player is 10.2.152.26
New versions can be obtained from  http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
It is advisable to use the UNinstaller (to remove older versions) before installing the new version: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe
Note: There us an ActiveX version for IE users, and a separate plug-in version for users of alternative browsers (Mozilla  Firefox, Opera, etc.).

Hello,
In another thread titled "Flash Player 9 crashes Internet
Explorer 6"
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=44&catid=184&threadid =1236801&enterthread=y
I described the exact same symptoms as yours.
I too arrived at the same conclusion as you.
I believe that since my Pentium II (200 mhz.) does not
support MMX technology, then that explains why Flash Player 8 and
newer always crash the first time I visit a webpage supporting
Flash content.
I am wondering if the reason Flash 8 and 9 get installed
without alerting the user that their CPU does not support MMX is
because there is no flag in the Windows configuration file to
indicate that this is the case.
If such a flag exists and is incorrectly set, then perhaps by
changing it, then Flash Player would load with an alternate set of
software routines to mimic the missing hardware instructions.
I am trying to find out more about how the installation of
Windows goes about detecting and advertising the presence or
absence of MMX.

  • Adobe Flash Player no longer usable in Chrome Browser?

I have a white macbook from mid 2009 running on Leopard (OS X. 10.5.8). I am also using the Chrome browser, and got an alert about a month ago saying that my operating system was too old so Chrome will no longer be receiving updates. However, as of today this means that Adobe Flash Player no longer updates itself in the browser so I can no longer use it when I surf the web. I also checked if the Flash player was disabled in the plugin list and it does not even appear there. Do I have to update to Snow Leopard so that Flash can update itself in Chrome? Thank you for your help!

Is this how you checked it?

  • Flash Player No Longer Works on Macintosh or Windows

I have installed, reinstalled, done the permissions thing,
tried everything - but Flash Player no longer works.
Many of my friends have the same problem.
I wish Adobe had never bought Macromedia. Macromedia was
pretty perfect. I never EVER had a problem with flash before Adobe
    got involved.
I have to install the flash player every single time I want
to open up a browser now.
I have a brand new MacBook Pro Intel, 15 inch - new OS,
    etc,....
I've read lots of grief from windows users in these forums
who are experiencing the same problem.
Has anyone else had this problem on a Macintosh? Have you
    found any solutions?
Any response would be greatly appreciated.
    much thanks

It definitely appears to be a flash related issue, more then the browser, as i've tried different versions of firefox and chrome and they all have the same problem with the newer versions of flash

  • When Flash Player will be supported at Namoroka browser (FireFox's 64bit version)?

    Dear Adobe:
Since in current many PC/Notebook products already design with 64bit  architecture, there are also many many people use it.
I have waited this support for long time ago, but I still can't heard any update news.
So, how about the Flash Player 64bit for Namoroka release date?
    Thank you very much.

  • Flash Player No Longer Working

My Adobe flash player has stopped working on Internet pages. (I can no longer view flash videos.)  I have a 64-bit PC using Windows 7 and am running Internet Explorer 11. I've made sure I have the latest version of Flash Player installed, but still no go. I've gone through some of the help pages on the Adobe website, but they have been of no help.

    Mac OS X (10.0.x)
OS X 10.0.x was not, and is not, ready for prime time. It has lots of problems. I'd move to 10.1 at the very least if I were you. I'd also have at the very least 192MB of RAM in my machine, 224 better, 256 better still. 10.0.x and 10.1.x will run on as little as 96MB (they won't install with less than 128) but you won't like the performance you get with less than 160. (You won't like the performance you get when running 10.0.x, period; the phrase 'snail-like' comes to mind. Running 10.0.x in less than 160MB makes that more like 'snail trapped in amber'. And, as Classic runs slower than OS X itself...)

  • Flash Player no longer works in Internet Explorer on Win8.1 after system tune-up

I recently had my laptop computer tuned up. After the service I have lost the use of Adobe Flash Player. I have already done the basics. I went to Manage Add-ons and ensured Shockwave Flash was enabled. I went to Safety and ensured ActiveX was not checked. I also downloaded the latest version of the software; Flash Player 15. When I check the status on the Adobe site it states that Flash Player is installed but disabled. I have checked it a number of times and Shockwave is truly enabled. I can no longer watch videos and at those sites I get a message that states I need Flash Player to watch the videos. I have a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8.1. I have also tried with Chrome and have the same result. Flash Player worked fine before the tune-up and the company that did the service says it is a common problem with Windows 8.1 but offers no solutions. Does anyone have a recommendation or solution? I would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thank you!
    Ramon

    Hello Jeromie,
Thank you for the follow up. I was aware that Flash Player is included with Windows 8.1. This makes it even more frustrating because it is included and yet doesn't now work. I have not attempted to install it but I did download the latest version. I am frustrated because there is no way to speak with anyone directly at Adobe as to whether there is a fix but I do appreciate your expertise and advice. I have done the system checker with no improvement. I have also updated Java Script on the chance that would help but that does not seem to be the issue.
There is something blocking the enabling of Flash Player between Internet Explorer and Adobe Flash Player. Flash Player is enabled through Manage Add-ons but when the status is checked on Adobe it shows it disabled. I was considering resetting Internet Explorer to default settings to see if that would help since all this happened after my computer service. But that reset would permanently change any and all other settings I have done.
I am going to try and find an expert tech who may be able to get this resolved. I am still hopeful that you or someone else reading this post may be able to offer a solution. If not, I will have to learn to live with it until Microsoft decides to correct the issue.
    Thank you!
    Ramon

  • Adobe Flash player doesn't support  the new android type devices such as my new Kindle Fire but i understand they are going to have an app out for these devices this year. Any idea on when that will be?

I understand Adobe Flash player will have out an app to download to the newer android devices such as Kindles that they stopped supporting a couple of years ago soon. Any idea when this will be? Thanks.

    Hello,
We don't have any plans for a new version of Flash Player for Android.  That said, some users have been able to get Flash Player working on the Kindle Fire by using third party browsers.

  • Flash player no longer works on a number of sites since the update in the last day or two

I've checked around the adobe forums too, and while there are plenty of posts with similar problems, their support has only been giving the generic responses... and those dont work.
Since the the update to the Flash Player plugin a day or two ago, most of comedy central, gametrailers and other sites video players dont show up or say you need to get the flash player.
Anyone had any luck fixing this? I've tried updating to the latest release candidate 11.2, tried clearing out flash and firefox cache and i have hardware acceleration turned off... but no luck :/

It definitely appears to be a flash related issue, more then the browser, as i've tried different versions of firefox and chrome and they all have the same problem with the newer versions of flash
