Flash player 9 on Vista 64

Oddly enough, after having installed the Flash player 9 on my
32 bits browser on Vista Ultimate 64, I get presented with a
message, all sites that use Flash content, which tells me I need
Flash player 6 or higher to view their content.
I'm clueless to a solution. I've done anything on my end that
I could come up with to fixt the problem:
1) Reinstall the player on my 32 bits browser.
2) Make sure I use the same browser to view the sites.
3) Restart the browser.
4) Reboot my system.
5) Use a registry fixing tool to fix possible errors in the
registry.
6) Reinstall again.
Your install web page confirms every time I visit it that I
have Flash 9 installed, however all those other sites keep
insisting that I need to install a Flash player version 6 or
higher. It makes me want to pull out my hair...
Any ideas as to how I can resolve my problem?

All sites? Truly all? My immediate hunch is that you're
probably
running into JavaScript (or other) Flash version detection
that doesn't know
how to recognize or accommodate your operating system.

How do you do the installation?  For what web browser?
Try downloading the installer from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.

  • Installing Flash player in Vista 64

I could not get player 10 to install in Vista 64 despite
repeated attempts. It would fail to load a .dll to a specific
directory. After repeated attempts, I realized the directory was
never created by the installer. So, here's the deal: go to
C:/Windows/system32 and manually create the following new sub
directories: /Macromed and then in that directory, /Shockwave 10
    Your finished directory is
    C:/Windows/system32/Macromed/Shockwave 10
Once that is put in place, Player 10 installs in a few
    seconds.

Flash Player is a browser add-on, not an executable program.
Are you trying to open local SWF files?  If so, you need the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

  • Installing Flash Player in Vista

I´ve had trouble installing the latest Flash Player in windows vista. Even when it´s worked in the past, the next time I use the computer, it no longer seems to be installed. Could it be my antivirus that blocks this? I use Avira.
When I try to download Adobe flash, I get the following message:
Adobe Flash Player is not supported for playback in a 64-bit browser. However, you can run Flash Player in a 32-bit browser running on a 64-bit operating system.
    Can you help?

Hi, well I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. We'll see what the problem may be. First to answer your question,
the OS means operating system. Which if you are using Windows, then your OS is Vista. It could be XP or the newest one
which is Windows7, Win7 for short. Now if someone is using a Mac, then that would be their OS.
Now your computer and all computers can install and run Flash Player. However there are a few things that can cause a problem, so I'll list a few.
The first thing and most important is that you must be the Administrator of your computer. If this is your computer and you set up the accounts, the first account set up would be the Administrator account. You can look at that as the "Boss"
Now some people will set up accounts for other people but they are not Administrator accounts, they are called User or Limited accounts. They cannot be "Boss":-) There are some other things, but I'm stating it this way, so you can better understand.
When you Install programs, like Flash Player, you have to use the Administrator account to do so.
Don't think you are the only one having problems. We'll find out what it is and fix it.
Since using the Administrator account is the most important, I want you to go down to where the clock it. With your mouse, right click over the time that is showing. Then when the small window opens, left click on Adjust Date/Time.
Then post back and tell me what you saw.

  • Two Copies of Flash Player in Vista Ultimate 64bit SP2 ?

    Hi,
I use Secunia PSI to validate the currency of my software. It reported Flash player to be down level.
I updated to the new version and Secunia PSI still reported the program to be downlevel.
The flash player test reports WIN 10 0 42 34 installed.
It looks like my Vista Ultimate 64 bit should have copies of flash player at these two locations:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW\Macromed\Flash
    and
    C:\Windows\System32|Macromed\Flash
The folder Macromed doesn't exist at the System32 location
If I need the 32 bit version where do I find it? And, How do I install It?
    Thanks
    Frank C

    Thanks for the reply Mvargas1.
That certainaly is confusing - System 32 is for 64 and WOW 64 is for 32!
Both my Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers seen to be working with Flash Player OK.
I uninstalled and re-installed Flash Player and Secunia no longer finds a down level version.
    Thank You

  • Download Flash Player with Vista...

I just received a new computer with Windows Vista. I have
been trying to download the Adobe Flash Player, but have been
unsuccessful. I continue to get this message whenever I try to
download it from the Adobe site.
"Sorry, your platform is not supported."
Does anyone have any insight, or assistance with this
    problem?
    TIA for the help....

    Hi NickFL-
If your new computer already has Adobe Flash Player, stay
with that version. Don't update to or install FP10 yet. There's
some issues- Adobe is working on a patch/fix. If you can't wait,
scroll around in this forum a bit to the thread "Platform Not
Supported" by sunsettt@ for more info from BWolfe, an Adobe guy.

  • Trouble installing Flash Player on Vista IE8

Hi, I'm not very computer saavy but I believe I tried everything in the trouble shooting section but I'm still unable to successfully download the latest version of flash player. I'm pretty sure I've uninstalled previous versions of flash player (the macromed file only has 2 text docs) and I'm able to download the latest version to the point it says "download complete" but when I test it, it's not working. I have Norton Antivirus (unpaid, but I'm not sure if it's a trail version because my computer crashed recently and my husband had to wipe everything out.) And I think I also have Windows Vista IE8. Please help. Thanks!!

  • Installing Flash Player - Windows Vista Home Premium - stalled at 50%

I would like to get help as I have been trying to install Adobe Flash Player for months, each time a video I select requires it and
the system takes me to the prompts to install, it gets 50% installed and then it says it can't continue because Internet Explorer is open.
Therre are no windows opened, and I have the recommended Scripting enabled in Internet Options (troubleshooting tip) but
I still can't get past this point and its frustrating.
    David Kerr

Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by right clicking one (or both) of the following links and selecting "Save target as"(IE) or "Save link as"(other browsers).
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Save the file(s) to your downloads folder.
    Reboot.
Before running anything else, open the downloads folder and run the installer(s).

  • Help with using flash player- windows vista

Hi There, really hope someone is kind enough to help me, I
have only a few strands of hair left on my head through pure
    frustration!!!
I have downloaded flash player from the website following all
the restarting prompts and changing the security settings that are
suggested in adobes troubleshooting text but I still cant use it
and I am not getting the animation that it says you will have if
you have succesfully downloaded, but it is showing up on my system
    as being installed!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, Take a look in the Safari browser plugins and make sure the Shockwave Flash plugin is Enabled.
Using Safari go to this test site and let me know if you can see the Flash Player logo animate(spin-RedF) and what version of Flash Player is displayed.

  • Flash Player loads but doesn't play

I just recently got a new computer, one running Vista
Premium. For the first few days after I installed flash player, it
worked perfectly in whichever browser I used. However, starting
yesterday, whenever a web page has flash on it, the browser crashes
after it has loaded. The same thing happens on IE, firefox, and
opera, all of which are the lastest versions. I've tried
reinstalling flash player, but to no avail. Hopefully, I'll be able
to find some reason for this here. =\
    Edit:
Well, I feel stupid. I didn't restart the computer after
reinstalling flash player. Although, I'm not sure why it stopped
working in the first place. But anyways, everything seems to be
    working fine now.

    Hi dhessi,
Glad to hear that your issue was resolved. Flash Player does
not normally require you to reboot your machine; however Vista does
require that IE 7 is restarted after installation of Flash Player.
For more information please see: After installing Flash
Player, Windows Vista initiates Protected Mode for Flash content

  • Installation Flash player

    Bonjour,
    Merci.
    F.

Yes, I have the same problem. I install and install and
install. (surely I delete before reinstalling :-)
I have really no idea what either I can do. Help me! Please
    :-)

  • I have vista OS and a game on facebook says need adobe flash player 12.0.02 or later. I have version 15 and it's not bringing it up. What could be wrong?

I'm trying to play a game on facebook, but when I go to play it, it comes up with a message saying I need to install adobe flash player 12 or later. I installed version 15 but it still keeps getting that message to install version 12 or later. I checked in my control panel under programs installed and it shows that adobe flash player 15 active x listed. So why won't the game see it? Do I need an older version of adobe flash? Maybe version 12, if so where can I find it. I tried to find 12 but every site keeps taking me to 15.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium OS. I have Firefox version 32.

    Hello,
You might not have the plugin for Firefox installed. Adobe has two different versions of Flash - one for Internet Explorer and another for Firefox. Internet Explorer uses ActiveX. You can check if Firefox has the plugin by going to:
    * Tools > Add-ons > Plugins, or
    * [Image: New Fx Menu] > Add-ons > Plugins
In Firefox, go to this link and Adobe should give you right correct installer:
    * https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If for whatever reason it is not choosing the correct OS for you, you can manually select Windows Vista and "Other Browsers" here:
    * https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
